It’s like the New York City rain is crying for me; I can’t cry anymore; I’m way past that. And going to audition after audition, all they ever do is confirm my suspicion that although I have a passion, it may be misplaced. Until Nathan appears. On stage, in rehearsals to develop his brilliant project, the love we had was only accentuated. He loved every inch of me and made sure I knew it. If only my father would stop calling and threatening to pull the plug. It all hinged on the success of this amazing musical I was now starring in. Sparks are flying and passion is everywhere in the room when he is there. But it all hinges on opening if it’s a success, my life is set; if not, its business school for me.

i read this book as part of an arc program. This is the story about a young actress named Tessa and Nathan, a producer of plays on Broadway. Tessa is cast as the lead in a play being produced by Nathan. Nathan gets Tessa to work with the writer to suggest his ideas as hers and make the play better. Tessa and Nathan begin a relationship and things are going well until Tessa's ex Dillon comes back. Nathan goes about getting investors for the play and getting it ready for opening on Broadway. Tessa goes to act in another play in the meantime, but Nathan asks her to come back. I liked this story, even if at times i found it a hard to read. The basis of the story is the play and how Nathan gets it open. I think Tessa was a little confused about if she was with Nathan or not. The way she talked about Dillon left a lot to be desired, i think she was mean to him. It will be interesting to read more of Tessa and Nathan in the future.

As the deadline is running out, she happens to meet Nathan, a producer with a play! Nathan gives her creative opportunities working with the writer to suggest ideas. Then Tessa and Nathan begin a relationship as their chemistry flares. Things just may be going right and her dream is in reach! But now their relationship is threatened by the return of her addled boxer ex-boyfriend, Dillon. Where will things go for Tessa now? Will she make it on Broadway? Will she have to instead let her father direct her future? Do dreams come true?

I thought the book was well-written. The story line moved at a good pace and Tessa and Nathan were good characters to carry it out. It’s a tough life out there on Broadway, and I think the author did a good job portraying that.

This is an enjoyable and entertaining story. The characters are likeable and unique and their personalities completely suited to the theatre world. The romance between Tessa and Nathan starts out on the slow side but does pick up steam as the story goes along.

The back drop for the story is the development of a Broadway show. This is an interesting concept and the author has clearly done her homework, as she provides a lot of information as to how a Broadway show is developed from inception to opening night - and I did find it interesting. The only issue I found is that so much of the story is devoted to the development of the Broadway show itself that sometimes it upstaged the actual romance, and the romance got a little lost.

This is still an entertaining story. I just personally would have liked a little less “theatre” and a little more “steamy romance”.

ONE SWEET READ!!!
Man, talk about dreams coming true. This is one exciting, pulse racing, heart pounding, intriguing, smooth flowing, page turning tale that captures your attention until the last word. All the drama, heartache, pain, disappointment and a little suspense builds throughout and tension soars as this awesome storyline progresses and the plot thickens. With all the twists and turns, along with unpredictable surprises make this one entertaining experience. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. Laura did an amazing job bringing this read to life flawlessly. Fantastic job Laura, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

Tessa wants to be a star on Broadway and has a year to make it happen. At 10 months, she happens to meet Nathan, a producer with a play who is NOT looking for a star for the lead but wants someone just like Tessa! They hit it off professionally and quite possibly personally!!! Is it true love?!?!? Fun story but the road isn't easy.

Interesting storyline about Broadway and the inner workings of staffing and financing. I did have a problem with the relationship of Tessa and Nathan. I couldn’t eliminate that they were using each other for gaining their own personal goals and just sex. Because of this I didn’t feel this was your typical HEA.

This was a good story with An enjoyable well written romance. It includes entertaining characters with sizzling hot chemistry. It includes alot of drama and some twists and turns on their way to a HEA. Tessa and Nathan meet on a chance encounter when out with a friend in this interesting fast paced quick read.

It got my attention on the first page and kept me interested all the way through. It is fast-paced. It is amazing. Laura Havemeyer has the ability to tell a story and make the reader feel like they are a real part of it. I loved all the characters. The love developed quickly between Nathan and Tessa but that didn't make it any less intense. The ending was especially wonderful. I highly recommend Play With Me.

Tessa is an actress, and when Nathan first spots her, he knows he has found his perfect partner. Both of these characters know what they want and follow their dreams. This is a good story, but in my opinion, not this authors’ best work! However, I look forward to reading more from her in the future.

i really wanted to give my all to this book, but i could not get in to it.
i cant say it was the story or the way the author wrote this book, but more like it was me.
the story seemed interesting and if i could have got passed myself im sure i would have enjoyed it this is the only reason i gave it 3 stars, im sure others will give it a higher rating

This is the story of Nathan and Tessa. It is interesting plot with a good storyline. Very likable characters. Tessa and Nathan are made for each other and that comes across very clearly. I liked the background on the theatre. Overall a great story but some parts need a little work.

ONE EXCITING EXPERIENCE!!!
Sizzling! Talk about hot, steamy and intense. Laura came through with this pulse racing, smooth flowing, smoldering storyline and engaging plot that brings this little gem to life beautifully. The trials and tribulations, along with a few glitches and scrapes draw you in so deep you feel as though you're right there. Laura brings all of your emotions swirling into play so realistically it's easy to get swept away. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it makes a perfect backdrop for this amazing read. Incredible job Laura, thanks for sharing this bad boy with us.

Making Music Feel Like Life Imitate Art

This story is rivetting, mind blowing and enchanting. It has the right balance between sexual intensity, drama, entertainment and sass. Tessa is a struggling actress who happens to meet a director looking for a leading lady. It appears all her Christmases have come at the same time when she meets Nathan, but unfortunately there are still some outside forces working against her. There are twists, fun, parental pressures amazing sexual encounters and a wonderful happy ending. This book was well written and is a definite must read.

Tessa has about 12 months to make it on Broadway if not her father will pull his money and make her go to business school, but she fails audition after audition that’s until she meets Nathan. Nathan is a producer who is putting a play together and when he see’s Tessa he instantly falls for her and he gives her a part in his production. As they work closely together their passion starts heating up but Tessa’s ex tries to come back in the picture which causes complications. So will the play be a hit or will Tessa have to go to business school?. I loved this sizzling romance it’s a fantastic read and I highly recommend this book.

This is the first book that I have read from this writer. It was a little difficult for me to get into. But once I did it was enjoyable. Tessa is trying to make it on Broadway. She only has 12 months to succeed or she will have to start business school. One night she meets Nathan. Nathan is a producer who is trying to put a play together. He instantly falls for her and wants her as the leading role on this play. As these two work closely together sparks start to fly. But her ex is going to throw a wrench in the making. Once I started this book I couldn't put it down. It is a seamless blend of an unknown actress, a fairly new producer who has had an off-Broadway flop, and an established British writer brought over to write an American theatre work. It tells how they got together and produced an extremely current political satire for Broadway. Kudos!
