WELCOME ALL OF THE NERDDOMS!
A Fantastic full-to-the-brim encyclopedia/dictionary hybrid of all things nerdy! From Science to animals to the unknown/inexplicable, this National Geographic Non-Fiction book is a nerd's dream.
While I wish more things could be squeezed into it, there is a plethora of information and just enough to tease the reader into looking for additional information on the many topics included!

As with most National Geographic Kids publications, "Nerd A-Z" provides a plethora of information. In this publication the variety is astounding. Arranged alphabetically, the topics under each letter is varied and surprising. Bite-size bits to plant seeds of curiosity in the minds of young readers for future exploration into subjects that they find interesting.

I found some things about this publication that didn't appeal to me. First of all, the alphabetical idea is good and yet there is not any rationale that I can find behind the bits of information gathered under each letter. Example: "F"....
F-35 Helmet
Fantasy Geopolitics
Fashions from Sci-Fi
Fire-Making
Fire-Tailed Titi Monkey
Fire Walking

Or perhaps "C"....
Chimpanzees
Concussions
Cosmetics
Cosplay
Coyote
Crop Circles
So while the information is good and the amount of each is in the form of snippets, it seems quite random.

Then I also found the font size to rather small as though they wanted to cram as much information as possible on the pages.

Positive aspects in my opinion include the great amount of information on a variety of subjects, the fun and appealing illustrations - both photographic and drawn, and the sometimes silly or tongue-in-cheek method of description or presentation. These will all appeal to young readers and make the book good for picking up and reading to garner lots of bits of information that all Nerds love to have crammed in their inquisitive brains.

The book is a masterpiece of literature. I like the fact that it is organized alphabetically, and that you get to pick what type of nerd you are! The categories are explained to the type of nerd you are. But if you have a child or someone that is reading the book they have put in a page about Zombies. And they have one on UFOS. But I like the book all the same🙂. It is a wonderful book for learning everything you want to know in a day. And is in a childish way so funny things are said and jokes are in the book.

This was educational and written in a way that was fun but also not annoyingly kid-like, so even as an adult, it's enjoyable. Many of the things I knew about, but nice to have more details or a refresher, but I also learned a lot too. Definitely a book I'd like to have on my shelf for kids.

If you are interested in being that person who knows the facts, has the smarts, and can problem-solve with the experts, then this book is for you. Full of information about science, arts, culture, geography, history, and technology, this book is the perfect encyclopedia of knowledge for the coolest people on earth- nerds!

At the very beginning of the book there is a flow chart quiz, "What Kind of Nerd Are You?", so you can discover if you're a scientist, a culture connoisseur, a tech expert, a genius at geography, or a designer. Once you've found out your special interest, you can take another flow chart quiz to find your niche within that subject. No matter if your interests are sports, music, art, science, virtual reality tech, cartography, zoology, genetics, or botany, there is a cool quiz to take and a whole book full of cool information on that subject!

I love how rich the colors are on every page of this book! The photographs are so colorful, and each section is color-coded so you can navigate through the alphabetical entries with ease.

With a wide range of subjects, there is something in here to interest everyone. There is even an entry for zombies! Some of the entries are short, but some are grouped together under a general heading. For instance, there is an entire page under C devoted to "Comic Book Heroes" with amazing factoids and details about 26 superheroes.

There are also quotes about nerds or from famous nerds throughout history. There's a quote from Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), saying how nerds are cool!
Nerds truly make the world go round with their passion for knowledge!
