I have read the previous two collections in this series and really enjoyed them both. I enjoy the way the poems are organized depending on specific emotions and feelings.
This collection is divided in:
☆ if your mind is on someone
☆ if your mind needs repairing
☆ if your mind has doubts
☆ if your mind needs inspiration
☆ these are for your mind
These poems have to deal with a vast amount of topics including, love, escapism, loyalty, mental illness, trauma, expectations, and more.
I thought this collection was well done, it was not my favourite but I would totally suggest it. I think this poetry series does a really great job of focusing on specific emotions and providing poems that are relatable but also inspiring. I will be picking up anything this author writes in the future!!

OVERALL: 4.5
The Pillow Thoughts installment will always have a special place in my heart. It always seems to speak to me personally. I needed this and it reached me at the perfect time.
It always gives me that perfect whimsical, hopeful vibe that is perfect to sleep to. Which is perfect considering the title. The poems are like my literal thoughts when I’m lying down on my bed and nearly about to sleep. Courtney Peppernell is a poet that I adore because of how well she can translate thoughts to something that everyone can read and relate to, no matter what it is really about. I found myself just smiling in certain parts <3
This particular collection speaks about when you’re translating from a place of hurt to a place of healing and love. I love the way this ‘series’ progressed in terms of themes. It’s nothing too heavy but is enough to uplift you.

The illustrations in between sections in this book are also my favorite out of the three books!! They’re wonderfully designed and matches the particular section’s theme.

I did enjoy the first poetry collection in this series a lot more. These poems deal with a big variety of themes such as love, mental illness, the importance of believing in yourself and in your own strength,
self-doubt, hope, change and so on. I think it was all a bit chaotic just because it did not focus on a handful of themes but on quite a lot. The poems seems very disconnected from one another, at least that's how I perceived it.

I seriously have no idea why the heck am I keep reading this poetry collection. Like UGG
These poems were out there way before Peppernell was alive. This one was more common and not as impacting as her other books have been. There were some good poems that held the book but then most others were lost on me.
I am not sure that I will read the 4th one!

MENDING THE MIND, the third installment of the Pillow Thoughts series by Courtney Peppernell was, like its two predecessors, beautiful, real, and accessible. I'm difficult when it comes to poetry, because I usually don't understand metaphors, don't want to think to hard whilst reading, and like everything straight to the point (even though I do appreciate language play in prose). Luckily, Peppernell's poetry is very understandable, relatable, and modern. Not every poem spoke to me, but especially the first one in this book I loved:
"I keep myself distracted all throughout the day
with coffee and books
and things that make me drift away
But always between every heartbeat
no matter what it is I do
I am constantly thinking of you"

A lovely collection of poems.
It feels as if the problem with modern poetry is that it always sounds the same. It always sounds as if it was taken from Tumblr.
And, unfortunately, the great majority of Pillow Thoughts III was no different. Some poems were a bit too cliché and trope-y for my likings...
I utterly adored the first poetry collection in this series – Pillow Thoughts – but it feels as if the quality is dropping a bit, in my opinion.
Still, there were some lovely and deep poems that I truly loved.
Favourite Poem:
It took me so long to be myself
So now the only person I want to be with
is someone who wouldn’t ever want me to be
anybody else.

This book is all about break ups, how people hang on to it even after it ends, and how broken they are after they face it, but even with all that there’s light in it. Light were you can better yourself and be more happy and strong then you once were

I am sorry I never want to be angry at books but I have to be angry at this one.
I read the 2 and 3 part first and these to parts where cute. Sweet poems that I could relate to. BUT THE FIRST PART IS MAKING ME SO ANGRY.
this book is for young girls and in so many poems they tell you “be happy/yourself/healed for SOMEBODY YOU LOVE”
Noooooooooooooo!!!!
Be happy and be yourself and be healed for YOURSELF. AND JUST YOURSELF.
for example:
“It took me such a long time to be myself
So now the only person I want to be with
Is someone who wouldn’t ever want me to be
Anybody else”
No no no just no.
Be yourself so you are happy. Be yourself so that you attract good energy and good people. But don’t be yourself so somebody would want you.
In another poem the Autor writes:
“She’s not mine YET
I don’t think you can belong to someone
Anymore
But how I would love her
If she could be mine”
Ehm excuse me? She is not an object that you can have. She is a person and she is her own person. I hate the idea that in a relationship you BELONG to someone. And I think it’s dangerous to tell young readers that you should. I think I know what the author wanted to say but it’s difficulty written.

It really shows a wrong kind of relationships.

Nobody else can tell you how to live your journey, what motivates you, what brings inspiration into your mind. It will be hard to find some days, and on others it will flourish. It is your inner child, inner peace, a reason for you to wake up each day.

Mending the Mind is the third installment in the Pillow Thoughts series and it is definitely my favourite. The first two books were very boring and repetitive and while this book mainly focuses on two topics, Mental Health and Love.
I'm pretty surprised that i liked it and i finished it really quickly because of how invested i was in it.
Now I have really high expectations from the next book in the series.

It is difficult to find the words to describe how much I loved this poetry collection. I discovered Courtney Peppernell’s work a couple of years ago when I reviewed the first book in the Pillow Thoughts series and she quickly became one of my favorite authors. Her writing is absolutely beautiful and speaks to me on so many levels, and this collection was no different. Her poetry addresses topics that are highly relatable and always timely, which makes them very easy to connect with.
You can feel all the raw emotion in every word Peppernell writes and the pure passion she puts into creating her poems. This collection is split into five parts, each one dealing with a particular theme. And as a whole, each section ties seamlessly into the next, coming together in a perfect blend that warms the heart and soul. Her poems are a series of meticulously crafted vignettes that comfort, heal, and encourage readers. With vivid imagery, Peppernell takes us on a journey that allows us to better understand, accept, and care for ourselves.
One of the best parts of this collection—as well as Peppernell’s other works—is that it is written in a truly unique voice. It stands out among a sea of modern poetry dealing with similar topics and makes for a very captivating and refreshing read. The heartfelt and genuine nature of these poems is easily recognizable. They are seemingly simple but truthfully so profound and intricate. Peppernell’s words consistently empower the reader and contain a level of sincerity that turns this work into a brilliant gem of a book.
On a more personal note, this collection is something that entered my life at a particularly fitting time. I have experienced a great deal of loss over the past year that has left me feeling very emotionally drained. My mind desperately needed the mending that these words do. I was touched very deeply while reading this book—it helped me to confront many thoughts I was struggling to face. This was a very cathartic and uplifting journey that filled me with the positivity that I have been lacking for a while.
These poems are moving, expressive, inspiring, and utterly beautiful. I know that Peppernell’s words will stick with me for the rest of my life and I will regularly return to her collections. Works like this one are what greatly motivate me in my own writing and remind me why I am so passionate about the written word. I would love to touch one person’s life through my writing in the way she has touched mine with hers—provide someone with that bit of comfort and encouragement at a time where it is so vital. I cannot recommend this collection highly enough.

Following Pillow Thoughts and Healing the Heart, Mending the Mind is the third volume in poet Courtney Peppernell’s Pillow Thoughts series. More so contained musings than freeform stream of consciousness writing, each of these volumes has offered me a great deal of cathartic reflection. Being in touch with my feelings is not something that comes easy; anything not rooted predominantly in logic is very challenging to process. For this reason, while these volumes are short (and occasionally cliché), each one continues to help me feel at peace, so I will probably keep reading them.

Pillow Thoughts III: Mending the Mind is Courtney Peppernell's third installment to the Pillow Thoughts series of poetry collections. I've read volumes one and two previously. Volume one was amazing, but volume two was a bit of a letdown. So I was worried going into book three. However I am happy to report that this collection was just as great as the first one if not better! Beautifully written as always,it explored themes such as love and heartbreak, fear and courage, depression and hope. The poems about depression resonated with me the most as it is something I struggle with for over a decade now. It was especially perfect that I read this book during Pride Month as Courtney Peppernell is of the LGBTQIAP+ community and the poems about love and heartbreak reflect that. One of my favorite poems: I’ve never wanted perfect. I love messy handwriting, days that feel like they are blurred into one. I love notes left on windowsills and lipstick stains on coffee mugs. I love piling into bed late at night with socks on. I love passion. Show me your love, talk about your dreams. There is beauty in the chaos of living.

Having given books one and two the massive five stars, I was confident going into book three that I would still adore and cherish the poetry, since its very beautiful and relatable to read. I didn't quite feel the same connection in this one compared to the previous two. However, I really can't fault the writing style or the content. I really hope more poetry lovers pick up the Pillow Thoughts series to cherish and enjoy!
