Mörderische Tage (Murderous Day) Julia Durant's main commissioner, who is known for her unconventional methods of investigation. She works as a senior investigator in the homicide unit in Frankfurt, is in excellent career, her personal life but she does not get a grip. She is divorced, and all subsequent relationships have failed so far. It has identified in 11 novels, she also has a cameo appearance in the novel Kiel Icy nearby .

Andreas Franz

The son of two musicians from East Germany, he later moved west with his family, and worked in numerous jobs. In 1997, he gave up his last job as a translator to become a full-time writer, quickly becoming popular through his Julia Durant series of crime/mystery novels. Franz lived near Frankfurt with his wife and four children until his death from heart failure at the age of 57.

"Plötzlich steht Jacqueline Schweigert mit glasigem Blick am Eschborner Dreieck mitten auf der Autobahn. Nur mit einem Nachthemd bekleidet, herausgeputzt und nach Rosen duftend, wird sie fast überfahren. Nur der Umsicht mehrerer Autofahrer ist es zu verdanken, dass sie überlebt. Die Eltern von Jacqueline Schweigert sind überglücklich. Denn ihre 22-jährige Tochter, eine Medizinstudentin, war plötzlich auf der Rückfahrt von einer Vorlesung und einem Treffen mit einem Kommilitonen bei Frankfurt verschwunden. Aber die Freude währt nur kurz. Denn plötzlich versagen gleich mehrere Organe von Jacqueline Schweigert gleichzeitig. Sie stirbt nur kurz nach ihrer Rückkehr. Die Ärzte sind ratlos.
Ratlos ist auch Julia Durant, die sich auf Seiten der Polizei mit dem Fall beschäftigt. Denn in letzter Zeit sind mehrere Frauen spurlos verschwunden. Hat der seltsame Fall der Jacqueline Schweigert etwas mit den anderen Vermissten zu tun, obwohl sich der Tathergänge zum Teil stark voneinander unterscheiden? Noch bevor Durant weiter ermitteln kann, wird sie von einem Unbekannten auf brutale Art und Weise überfallen und verschleppt. Er bringt sie in ein Kellerverlies. Und dort ist sie ganz offenbar nicht allein..."
Der Einstieg viel mit erstaunlich einfach und es lässt sich richtig gut lesen. Die Charaktere entwickeln sich bei jedem Band etwas weiter, haben ihre Höhen, aber auch ihre Tiefen, sodass man als Leser mitfiebert, mitfühlt und sie irgendwie schon fest ins Herz geschlossen hat.
Ich fand diese Geschichte recht spannend und ich fand es toll, dass es mal in eine andere Richtung ging (Julia Durant wird selbst Opfer ihres eigenen Falles) und dass ihr Kollege Hellmer ein bisschen mehr Platz in diesem Band bekommen hat.
Es gab den einen oder anderen Moment der mein Herz bluten lassen hat und ich bin auf die Auflösung so gespannt gewesen.
Das Ende hatte es auch in sich, obwohl ich es schade fand, dass die Auflösung zu schnell gekommen ist, dafür war sie aber sehr schockierend.
Insgesamt ist es für mich ein guter Franz gewesen, der mit seinem Handlungsstrang und seiner Story überzeugen kann.
Ich freue mich schon auf den nächsten Band.

Mörderische Tage is a crime novel published in 2009 and written by Andreas Franz who is a very famous crime author in Germany. I already read several novels of him but this one was one of the most fascinating ones! It is unbelievable to read what people are capable of doing to other people!
The novel is about a murderer who kidnaps mostly women and brings them to his personal prison in which these people are exposed to his so called “white torture”. This means that he imprisons his victims in separate cells that are 25 meters below the earth. They cannot hear anything from the outside world and not even the other victims in the cells directly next to their own. Then he tortures them with really loud music, complete silence, extremely bright light or complete darkness. They are imprisoned completely naked and just get bread and water to eat and drink. After a while all of them go crazy and are not able to think clearly because they loose complete track of time.
Julia Durant is the main character of the book and she is the head of the investigation team who is trying to find the murderer. For her it is the hardest case of her whole career because she becomes one of the victims as well.
This novel is a real page turner!!! I read it in 4 days and just couldn’t stop! Andreas Franz knows really well how to set the reader on the wrong track over and over again. Almost until the very end the reader doesn’t know who the murderer is even though some chapters are written from the perspective of the murderer which I really liked because it shows the reader both perspectives of the story.
Unfortunately, the books of Andreas Franz are not translated into English. This is a pitty because I can assume that he would become a bestselling author in foreign countries as well! But if you know the German language and love crime novels, this is definitely a story to read! Especially if you’ve read more than one novel of Andreas Franz because Julia Durant and her investigation team are most of the time the main characters so you get familiar with the persons and their personal life and issues.

Ich breche das Buch an dieses Stelle ab (ca. S. 120 von 456)
Dabei ist es nicht mal schlecht geschrieben. Auch der Autor, leider verstorben, ist mir sehr sympathisch und ich hätte liebend gerne eine bessere Story gelesen. Aber auf Seite 120 weiß ich leider wohin die Sache führt (sie gefällt mir nicht) und möchte eigentlich keine 300 Seiten mit Ausführung meiner Gedanken lesen.
Mir ist die ganze Zeit so als kenne ich alles schon. Die Ermittler berühren mich gar nicht (wohl weil dies der 11. Fall von Julia Durant ist - war nunmal ein Geschenk, das Buch) die Story ist so 08/15 Frauenentführungsstory. Der Täter ist ebenso 08/15. Vielleicht bin ich schon zu abgehärtet, was derartige Romane angeht, vielleicht aber nicht abgehärtet genug. Irgendwie stößt mich die Geschichte ab.
Ich werde Herrn Franz nochmal mit einem anderen Buch versuchen und hoffen, dass es besser wird.

Absolutely loved it. Riveting. And, fo course, really helps my German. A serial killer is in the Frankfurt area, copying serial killers of the past, not using one method. The reader knows who is captured and what's being done to them, but not who the killer/torturer is. Julia Durant, main character, is also captured, and the team realizes that its own profiler is the murderer. Very descriptive, plus lots of conversations that play out the thought processes really well.

Spannende Geschichte, ich lese manchmal viel zu schnell :-) Das merke ich daran, dass ich dann bei einem neuen Buch wieder zurückschrauben muss... Das Ende ist, so finde ich, etwas kurz erzählt, aber vielleicht sollte das Buch nich noch länger bleiben und die Bedrohung war ja zu Ende.

Sehr spannend! Alle paar Jahre ist so ein Serienmörderkrimi was Feines. Allerdings hätte der Autor besser die Füllfeder vom Innenleben und von Freundschaften von Frauen gelassen. An diesen Stellen wirkt das sonst packende Buch unauthentisch und klischeebeladen.
