So after loving The Living Nightmare (which is actually book 4 of this series that they need to put numbers on the spine for!!!) I decide to go back to the beginning and get the whole adventure in order.

But…all right, let’s just get this out of the way, okay? I hate the art style. Plain and simple, hate it. It looks like melting graffiti and I’m not a fan and will now take back what I said about The Living Nightmare’s graphics being just okay for the most part because it is WAAY better than this. Unfortunately I think the next two volumes (still don’t know of comics are called that) have the same style, so I’m just gonna brace myself for it, haha.

Now with THAT out of the way the story was pretty good! It mostly focuses on Tony which is fine though he’s not my favorite Avenger like never so I was mostly here for everyone else and the plot, haha. I love the sprinkles of humor throughout, especially when some characters were introduced like Black Widow is “Expert of pretty much everything” and Captain America’s really cracked me up with “Pretty sure the property damage will NOT be kept to a minimum”, not to mention a group of superpowered villains were labeled as “What you get when you mix cosmic rays with a less-then-Fantastic-Four.” Just little things like that kept me chuckling throughout, and as always I adored Cap in this but that’s nothing new, lol.

The cover is extremely misleading though as Hulk and Hawkeye are not involved in this one and are replaced with Black Panther and Captain Marvel, who is also not a favorite character of mine but at least she’s not insufferable like her MCU version.

Overall I enjoyed this and look forward to picking up the next one!

Tony Stark is enjoying a lovely dinner with Pepper when someone slaps a device on the back of his neck just as an attack starts. Suddenly the Avengers find Iron Man is fighting against them. Has someone stolen the suit or have they done something to Tony? And how do they fix this?

A nice little adventure with the Avengers. (Iron Man, Pepper, Black Panther, Capt. America, Thor, Black Widow, and Captain Marvel...whoever did the cover didn't read the book). Mind games with Tony is never a good idea. There's a little bit of the plot that is unresolved and begs you to hunt down the next book in the series to see what the bad guys are up to. The language and violence are tame enough in this that it feels aimed at anyone from middle grade on up (which is not always the case with Marvel superhero graphic novels), and will make my middle graders super excited to have more Marvel on the shelves. I need to hunt down book 2 in this series. I picked up this one and book 3 without realizing it; they aren't numbered on the spine. Recommended to Marvel fans, especially the movie fans as this feels like it could be an adventure between movies.

Notes on content: No language issues. No sexual content. Some mild violence (no one is even seriously hurt).

I liked it. It was pretty action packed and there was some witty banter. Not much going on character development wise but it is the first in the series...

I read this to try to determine what superhero comics/graphic novels I could put in my 6th-12th grade school library. Trying to find ones that don't objectify women (which is pretty hard to find).

This fits the bill but it really is more of a children's comic book. Nothing wrong for adults in here but there isn't too much going on plot/character-wise either.

Content Notes:

Sex? No and costumes are done in a way that don't sexualize women. HOORAY!

Language/Profanity? No

Violence? Yes, but the cartoony sort

Religious elements? None unless you count that Thor is a god?

LGBTQ rep? Not specified

Could a conservative Christian school library add this in?

Yes, absolutely.

Moving this review from Issue One, didn't realize it wasn't full collected edition
I was expecting this to be another one of those graphic novels that was just telling old stories featuring nothing new. I was very surprised because it wasn't. It was all-new, all-awesome, and everything felt like a trip back in marvel time. With a good mixed team (Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, Black Panther, and Captain Marvel) and a strong storyline, it was really amazing. My only complaint is that it was more like an Iron Man story for a lot of it, with the other avengers sort of in the sidelines. Still, this was just the first three issues. I expect they'll give other characters a bit more time in #2

Although written for younger audiences, this volume manages to mostly get the look and feel of the Avengers right, and provide a story with a bit more depth than you would expect -with mind-wiping, AIM, and Fin Fang Foom all playing major roles. There's some brief humor, and the wider team has glorified cameos, but this mainly focuses on Stark, with Natasha probably earning second billing.
The art style works for the most part, keeping everything pretty light even when dealing with explosions and big fights. It's not a super deep story, but it's a fun enough diversion that younger audiences would probably enjoy.

I liked it well enough. It's hard to judge as it's the first volume and sets up a bigger story arc without a clear resolution as of yet. I think this would be a good way to introduce kids to Marvel comics if they already like the movies. The characters are introduced pretty well, and the dialogue's all right. The artwork is eye-catching, but my poor eyes were struggling with the small font of the dialogue.

This looks like something I would give to my seventh graders when I taught that level. It had some depth, but not a lot. And the strong female characters did not pass the Bechdel test. Not sure how I feel about that. It definitely looks like middle grade level boys were the target for this. It was not a bad story, but not what I love in an adult level comic.

My son picked this out for his birthday and it was suggested by the comic book store for his age-range. There are plenty of action scenes but no real gore. The artwork is eye-catching and in my opinion more appealing than the dialogue. (LOL)

Fajna rzecz dla młodszych czytelników wchodzących w komiksowy świat Marvela. Dla starszych czytelników i osób znających dobrze świat Marvela raczej nic specjalnego. Mimo wszystko komiks całkiem szybko i przyjemnie się czyta

Short

It's so short and it's not so good as the other comics such as spider teen with spider gwen , black solder and the original sport man
