Will a case of mistaken identity lead to happily ever after or will a well-intentioned charade keep them apart?

All women ever want from Sebastian Schultz is his family’s money, which is why he’s avoided dating like the plague. Then Genevieve Willis walks into the Schultz building, ranting about her meeting with the cold fish head of the company, unaware that’s exactly who she’s speaking to. Immediately drawn to her beauty and sense of humor, Sebastian can’t resist this opportunity to finally get to know a woman without the stigma of the Schultz name. So he introduces himself as Kurtis from the Public Relations department, then implores his playboy younger brother to act as president in his place.

Genevieve can’t believe her luck landing her dream job, though she’s not looking forward to working with Sebastian, whose reputation as being distant and unapproachable precedes him. But she’s pleasantly surprised by the warm, welcoming man behind the desk. Yet as they develop an easy rapport and he turns on the charm, she can’t stop thinking about Kurtis, the sweet PR guy, who captured her attention just by being himself.

As “Kurtis” and Genevieve begin working together on the biggest charity event of the year, will it become impossible for him to conceal his real identity? And will she forgive him when she learns the truth?

2 💘😳⭐️s

A sweet, light and very safe romance read.

Sebastian wanted to be loved for his character and not for his great wealth. When he met Genevieve, there was a mutual attraction between them and he didn’t reveal his true identity so he could find out if her feelings towards him were genuine.
I think you can imagine most of the rest, because it was that predictable.

This story was so safe and clean, the only steamy scenes were their exchange of a few kisses, that I thought it was addressed to 13 y.o or strictly prude readers.

The only thing that was not predictable was that in the end, Genevieve was working in another state, and because Sebastian was so in love with her, resigned from his family’s company in order to go and live with his girl! 😳
Lastly, there was no epilogue!

I really liked the writing and the characters but the lying? Not a fan. And when she finds out, all her points for not trusting that whole family are valid and I kinda think she shouldn’t have forgiven him. But it’s a romance so she has to. I have mixed feelings. I would read more from this author though. The faith content was good. No language and only kissing.

I must admit that I wasn’t sure if I was going to like a “billionaire” romance, however, I did know that I have enjoyed everything that I have read from this author, so I was willing to give this first book in the series a chance! I’m so glad I did!

Not the Billionaire was a clean story with some light faith elements, too. Sebastian and Genevieve were very likable characters, even with the lies that Sebastian got caught up in. Speaking of lies, I appreciated that the author made it clear throughout the book that those who knew of the lies, and even Sebastian himself were upset about the lying. I don’t want to give away too much, so I will just say that things quickly got out of hand for Sebastian and he was afraid to lose Genevieve when she found out who he really was.

The author has done a wonderful job of creating the Schultz family and I am really looking forward to reading other books in the series. This novel was peppered with interesting characters and I am looking forward to getting to know them in future stories.

Great title for this book.

Sebastian and Genevieve are the best characters a this story. They are ones that keep a reader from putting the book down. I like that Genevieve has horse named Charisma and there is great dialogue from Ben when she goes to Charisma. Now I am anxiously awaiting the next book in this series.

Ah, Genevieve and Sebastian

Two, supposed adults, one of whom CEO’s his family business.
They set out on a course Sebastian has begun, wherein he pretends to be someone he is not, in order to ‘get the girl’.
What could possibly go wrong? Oh, about what you’d think.
Too predictable, though convoluted. Too juvenile, too much for a simple romance.
Not a story I would recommend.

I love Krista’s writing style because it represents real life and soon I am so involved in the story, I find it hard to put down. The main characters in this delightful book are Sebastian and Genevieve. Sebastian is the president of the chocolate company that his family owns and Genevieve is a new employee. There is an immediate attraction to one another, however, he doesn’t want to reveal his identity to her so tells her his middle name when introducing himself. Sebastian has had several bad experiences with women in the past interested only in his money and he wants to see if Genevieve will like him for him self. There are some interesting situations that evolve because he is keeping his real identity from her that kept me turning the pages until the very end. I so appreciate Krista’s values that are reflected in her “clean” romance books. This book is number one of four and I am already anxiously awaiting for the next one

I've read from this author before and enjoyed it. I really don't care for the billionaire trope but I liked the author and decided to give it a try. It was a nice read. I liked the characters and the h & H were people I wanted to root for. This has an opportunity to be a series and it had me intrigued so I would read more. The process and contention and resolution of their romance were well written. The younger brother I had mixed feelings about so I'm hoping for another one so I can learn more about him. These characters felt real and I thought the dialogue was good

Honesty is the best policy

Genevieve and Sebastian are a great couple with plenty of chemistry. They are unselfish, forgiving, and honest. The perfect combination. Their relationship progresses quickly. I love a good happily ever after.

Fascinating

I really wondered how the author was going to make this story work. I couldn't understand how the ruse could be kept up. I enjoyed the story from beginning to end.

Sweet Billionaire Romance

Love Sebastian and Genevieve's story! They could join my group of friends any time. That's how real Krista Noorman makes her characters and their story. I'm looking forward to reading the second book in this series and getting to know more about Sebastian's brother, Gus.

Sebastian

This is the first book I've read by Krista and I can't wait to read the next one about Gus. This story was so good and I love this family so much! The love and support they have for each other is a welcome change. ... As is their faith in God. Its a welcome change in this crazy world we live in. Thank you Krista!!

Word of warning ( a lot of words actually lol)

TL;DR: If you have religious trauma, don't like religious books, and/or clean romance, don't read this. Also, if reading about a family member struggling with alcoholism or addiction is a concern then this book may be triggering. If you do like religious and clean romance, I'd just jump down towards the bottom of this cause the rest isn't for you. My rating is 3.5 stars rounded up to 4 for this.

This is gonna be a heck of a rant that will most likely pi$$ off the delicate senses of many of the readers this kind of book is actually aimed at. I also want to preface this by saying that my rating has nothing to do with my issues of religion and it is simply based on the book and plot itself.

I really wished I had read the reviews for this before I had actually spent time reading it. I won't say wasted, cause it wasn't a completely horrible book. However, each time God or faith was mentioned I had to push really hard to finish this thing.  It's really annoying that I have to research the author and read a bunch of reviews before deciding to read a book. I know I knowwww "well why didnt you read the reviews this is your fault." I'm not the biggest fan of  "clean" romances, but it's not an automatic 'do not read' for me. However, I REALLY wished the author (and all romance authors) normalized putting something in the blurb about it being religious. "Clean" romances do not automatically mean religious which is why I didn't really dig too deep. I obviously should have, but the rating was great and I loved the blurb.

This is a problem with the industry as a whole in my opinion, and it's just that an opinion so we are all free to disagree. But I feel like clean and religious romances (not books just romances) should be clearly noted or have a warning just as much as books with pr3gnancy, a$$Ault, abu$e, murd3r, loss, etc. I h.a.t.e. spending time and money on something that is gonna throw some surprises at me that will ruin the whole book.

My next issue is that I really don't like how in depth the author went to show us Gus' struggles. I feel like it could have been done with a lot less of literally everything. I get it's to set up for his book, but it's not necessary.  This man is literally so desperate for his families love and all he keeps getting is actions and words that are just as harmful as Gus' actual actions. It perpetuates a cycle and if that's how you reassure your family members you love them in real life all I'm gonna say is EW. You can set boundaries while also showing actual love and concern. The last scene with him and how they announced who would be taking over the company is just like come on be more tactful and read the room.
:End Rant:

NOW all that being said lol besides my Gus concern the quality of the rest of the book is not horrible. I wish there was more making amends and rebuilding trust with Bass and the family instead of glossing over it right to the happy ending. Even though we understood his reason for why he lied there was not enough groveling or enough of the story after the apology was accepted before bam the end.

Between the Gus issues and the way the story ended my rating is 3.5 stars. I'm not including the religion issue in my decision because if I had read the reviews I wouldn't have been blindsided . My issue with it not being listed is more of a personal issue with books not having clear tropes or labels. Because doing so is unfortunately not as normalized as it should be, I won't penalize the author for it.

Love at first sight but with deceit…

This was supposed to be a light swoony read. But I felt angst from the beginning of the story waiting for the shoe to drop. I know from the beginning that the best part to throw the bomb was during the regatta. And it was delivered perfectly, it wasn’t the way I thought it was going to go, but I think that way was better.

There is never a good reason to lie, especially to someone you care about. He had a lot of opportunities to do it and at the end it exploded terribly as expected.

Sebastian was a charming guy, very romantic, had all the traits of a perfect boyfriend. But it was disappointing to read that he was bothered, uncomfortable, or even sad every time she said Kurtis instead of Sebastian. Because it reminded him about his lie and didn’t come clean in the end.
I didn’t like how she simply appeared all smiling and simply forgiving him that easily. At least I wished he begged a little more and asked her to forgive him several times. Because the humiliation she received was pretty big. I was also expecting him to take a plane over to Montana to see her and ask her to forgive him. It was like he gave up and wasn’t going to fight for her, for her love and for her forgiveness. But well.

I am not a fan of how it was written. It has a somewhat double point of view, but it’s in a third person narrative. The narrator is speaking about Sebastian’s point of view, and in the next chapter about Genevieve’s point of view, it’s a little distracting, I would’ve liked it better if it would describe everything in their own point of view, like expressing their own feelings and thoughts.
I’m sad for Gus and his meltdowns. But I really don’t like that his character is a playboy. I don’t think I’ll be reading his story. It’s too triggering for me.

SAFE
no cheating
no om/ow
separation for several months
closed-door romance
doesn’t say anything about their celibacy (I would like to think they are both virgins since they are somewhat religious, but there is no mention about it. And he was engaged once - though doesn’t say they lived together or anything. And she said she had casual relationships - but more like friends. So, you be the judge when reading)
I felt angst waiting for the lie to explode and waiting for her heartbreak

I liked the premise of the story: billionaire wants woman to get to get to know him without his wealth being a factor. Okay. But it didn’t work. Instead, I read a book full of lies, until it became one ridiculously dishonest read. I could understand the original lie, but how the author thought it was a good idea to bring the siblings and friend into the fiasco and continue with it throughout, is beyond me.
The lies went too far, from who he was, to who his brother and sister were (giving their middle names), implying he had never been on a horse, hiding from her for an entire day at the regatta because his parents and family friends were there. The lies just kept on piling up. Seriously, who wants to find out they have been lied to about not one, but multiple issues?
Then, the ending. Just no. A billionaire gives up his job as head of the family generational business to follow her across country, away from both families (including giving up the tradition of truffle making with mom), so that she can continue to work for an animal shelter? Not believable. He is a billionaire, he could have paved the way for the shelter in Montana to benefit from his money, helped her start up her own non profit closer to home (to include her horses), and build a network of non profits around the country with her at the helm. What work was this billionaire going to do out in Montana while she worked with the animals? He had only known her a few months! None of it made sense.

I really didn't care for this story. It felt lacking and under developed.
The story was there but it was cheesy . The romance ... didn't really feel it and some things were kinda cringe.
Characters interactions just felt fake and off so it made it really hard to actually connect with the characters.
The brother ( Gus ) was off as heck. Super weird with how he acted towards the FMC and the stuff he said to his brother when he found out Sebastian really liked her. It was like he wanted her just because his brother did. When his brother stepped down from the company everyone was surprised but the brother was all happy or smug. like wth. Yeah I agree his family is treating him like shit for his mess up and should be supporting him instead of pushing him away... but I also get the company doesn't need bad PR. either way the family is treating him like shit and he's just weird anyway.

I get why she was mad at everyone for lying to her, that was the only thing that really made sense in all this truly. lol

I enjoyed the premise. Neat idea for this type of book. I had a couple big 🙅‍♀️🤔 moments that just kinda weren't addressed.
1) why was it not a bigger deal that they were roofied? They both know they didn't drink enough to black out but only casually were curious about it.
2) the whole thing with Barron and her thong. Literally didn't come up again after he MAILED it to her. Who mails underwear? IF it happened to stick to your person as you left, you just throw it away. Be a G and don't bring it up. The likelihood of him having a thing stowaway is very minimal.
3) wouldn't the roofie affect the baby? She got pregnant from having sex that neither of them remember because they were drugged so hard. Was it a fertility roofie? Is that even a thing? But since Georgette thought he was impotent even if it were a thing, why would she use it?
4) WHY WAS BEING DRUGGED NOT A BIGGER DEAL (yes I realize I already addressed this but I think it bears repeating)

I thought his grand gesture was incredibly sweet and perfect. Perhaps a bit OTT, but that's literally the MO of these books.

Sweet, clean, slow burn romance

Enjoyed this sweet, clean, romance. The h and H were really good together. Sebastian is the president of Schultz Chocolate, extremely wealthy and extremely leery of women. Genevieve is an event coordinator newly hired to the company, super sweet and a smidge naive. He has been burned by women wanting his money, she can't stand liars. One chance meeting on a gift shop. They both feel an instant attraction. She didn't have a favorable impression of him, though she didn't realize who he was. Soon he has roped in everyone into the lie.

Ugh, a religious romance

I had no idea religion was part of the story line. Had I known it I never would have read it. I hate religion and the con men who run it, so it was terribly to have it show up in a book I was enjoying. Skipped through parts of the book when religion showed up in the story line, what a shame. Reader beware of you don't like Christian books. If you like them, it's cute, clean and has the " I'll pray for you" theme down. Full novel, no cliffhanger and a HEA.

Good Book

I did enjoy this book and it’s a nice love story with no real major trauma with the main characters and a HEA.
I did think sometimes their inner dialogue seemed childlike and the fact he gives up his position as President of the family business to move to Montana where her job with horses is just seems too far fetched.
Would have been so much better and realistic if the author had said the family business were expanding to Montana and he was going to run the business from there with Gus & Skylar remaining to look after their base.

I made it to 43% when I just quit trying, I should have knew when it took me 4 days to get that far that I wouldn’t be able to finish it. Religion is shoved in your face with each page, the h is just ridiculous and gullible and I’ve never heard a grown man say “oh my gosh” before this book. The interactions with the h and the H’s brother was cringy, neither the H or the H’s brother came off as grown men, and after 15 chapters and I still couldn’t get into the story or even care about what happened with any of the characters I knew it was time to call it quits and return the book.

I don’t like reading the book description because I like going in not knowing anything, but I do wish I read the description this time.
The lying most of the book is just not something I like, the idea of the book would be good if he had told her way earlier. The lying just got worse as the book progressed and at 80% I was just done with the book. I read the book up till 90% and then I just skimmed the rest cause I didn’t want to read anymore.
I did want to stop reading when he told that lie, I just thought he would come clean faster then he did.
Not for me but probably for someone else🥴

An adorable, sweet ride!

This is a refreshingly clean and foul mouth free story! I loved how Gen was willing to walk away from a dishonest job and find a better one. It was funny how she and Bash met and also heartbreaking to see them fall apart. This was a well thought out storyline, full of good lessons we all need to remember. But more than that, the characters had a wonderful chemistry. I felt like I was part of the story and not just reading it. The ending is so sweet and made perfect sense for Gen and Bash!
