Another McIntyre Security Box Set

This box set has 3 books: Shattered, Imperfect, and Ruined.

Shattered is another book about Shane and Beth. I don't like Beth and in this book, my "dislike" was ratcheted WAY up.

Beth is annoying. I just can't with her insecurities. One of Shane's exes, Luciana, decided to break up his relationship with Beth. She sent Beth old pictures of her and Shane together...and that was just the tip of the crazy iceberg. But Shane kept telling Beth that he loved her... that there was no other woman for him...blah blah blah...on and on. But Beth just wouldn't trust him. I kinda got tired of it and I was really hoping Shane would get tired of proving himself to her and dump her.

The second book was Imperfect, and it was about James "Jamie" McIntyre. Jamie, a former Navy SEAL, was blinded in an explosion while on a mission. Jamie moves out of Shane's secure estate into his own apartment in order to be independent. This is where Jamie meets his neighbor, Molly Ferguson.

Molly is an artist, recently divorced, and a breast cancer survivor. Her ex-husband Todd, who was a cheating jerk during their marriage, becomes a threat... to Molly and to Jamie. This was such a sweet, heart-warming story... two people who are dealing with hurts, who see themselves as "detective" take a chance on trusting and loving each other. This was my favorite out of the set.

Ruined was the first completely MM romance I've ever read. (I've read MMF stories.) I kinda liked it. It helped that we were already introduced to Daniel Cooper and Samuel Harrison in previous books (and that I really liked them both) and that there were hints early on regarding each man's sexual orientation. I have to admit that I kinda skipped around a bit in this book. (For some reason, I couldn't deal with the suspense of Cooper going back to his hometown.).

Imperfect was may favorite (it could get 4 or 5 stars by itself) and I did enjoy Ruined, but I didn't care for Shattered (again, because I can't stand Beth). The next box set, unfortunately, has more stories about Beth, but I'm going to read it anyway.

Too many holes in these books. Basically the whole series.

1. Elly’s name. Sometimes she’s Ellie and sometimes she’s Elly.
2. Jamie’s lab. In the start of the series the lab was a yellow lab, then he becomes a black lab, and now he’s back to being a yellow lab.
3. Shattered was unnecessary drama to set up Jamie and Molly- which we have to read the start of their relationship from the beginning in their book, Imperfect, and forget all we have already read about them bc of Shattered. And then it sets up Sam and Cooper. And Beth just meddles in both of their lives when Shattered should be about her baby and her wedding.
4. Why is Beth’s number one friend mostly kicked off the pages for most of the series when she starts off as a strong character in book 1!?
5. Why do we see more of Lia and Jonah over all the siblings!? Liam is a rarity. Hannah only shows up in Shattered. Sophie comes and goes briefly a few times. Jake was a strong character at the start of the series but even he fades over the series. It’s like most of the siblings aren’t important when they should all be a part of the book more. Their a close family.
6. Too many characters get made and it seems it might be too hard to constantly write each one into the book, so most take a hike until it’s convenient for them to be in the plot - then they show up again. It shouldn’t be that way.
7. In book 2 of the series and into Shattered- we don’t see Beth attend graduate school. It conveniently is mentioned mostly at the end of shattered when she has 2 weeks left of the 1st semester. When does she have time!? She’s too busy being stalked, sexing, working, crying, running away, at the penthouse, out with friends, not eating, going to lunch, meddling, being injured, having a wedding, dealing with pregnancy... and so on.
8. Shane’s parents feel like they came out of left field all of a sudden just to be there for the wedding. We never see them and Beth speak over the phone like she claims they do a lot.

Amazing read

Love this boxset. This boxset has 3 books:
* Book 4 is the third installment of Beth and Shane’s romance story. Shane and Beth got engaged in book 2. Beth is planning a big wedding but Shane learns through a source that she would rather elope. Shane talks to Beth where he learned that Beth would rather have a small intimate wedding. Beth is now planning a small wedding. During this time, one of Shane’s ex girlfriends tries to break them.
* Book 5 is Molly & Jamie’s romance story. This book’s plot interconnects with book 4. Jamie ends up moving into the same apartment building as Molly. Jamie feels like he has to show his family that he can live on his own. Molly and Jamie first meet while Jamie is moving in. Molly doesn’t realize until two days later that Jamie is blind. Molly doesn’t want to get involved with Jamie due to her ex husband who is becoming more erratic with trying to get Molly to get back together. Jamie has to try really hard to get Molly to go out with him
* Book 6 is Sam and Cooper’s romance story. This book takes place after the plots of books 4 & 5. Sam is recuperating in Ohio. He ends up going back to Chicago after Shane goes to Ohio to bring him [Sam] home. Sam hasn’t been long in Chicago when he leaves to go with Cooper and Jake to Sweetwater. On the airplane ride, Sam learns why Cooper has a hard time with showing others their relationship. Cooper learned the hard way “Don’t ask, Don’t tell.”

great series

I love this series! Once I start reading I can’t put these books down. The characters are well developed and the stories are fast paced. These aren’t your typical “private security plots.” You will become invested in these characters lives. All are HEA romances.
Ruined is a m/m romance which is not a genre I’ve ever read. I enjoyed the book very much. My only criticism is that Sam (28 year old Former Army Ranger) and Beth (24 year old book store owner who is married to Sam’s boss) begin to act more like immature high school girls than m/f adult friends. I really can’t imagine a married woman and an Army Ranger sitting side-by-side on a counter swinging their legs back and forth. I was really ready for Sam to go back to mature adult he was in the previous books. Out of two box sets that’s the only thing I didn’t care for. I plan to get the next box set when I finish this review. Thank you April Wilson for hours of entertainment!

1 out of 3

I have read the first box set and was looking forward to this box set. I really didn’t like Beth in this set. She was relientless in her quest for knowledge that others asked her to let go. Her age wasn’t a factor - it was her busybody and lack of personal respect. I did love Jamie and Molly. From the initial series I looked forward to learning more about him and Molly was the perfect companion. I didn’t read the Cooper and Sam story...m/m is not my thing.
As noted on previous review, there’s a lot of redundancy.

Well Done

Ms Wilson has take such great care in building the McIntyre Security Bodyguard Series. With wonderful detail, she entwines the many characters in heartfelt, intricate, connective interactions and dialogue that allows readers to be engrossed by the story.

The generational, and social experiences, along with the different people that shaped each of Cooper’s and Sam’s personalities were eloquently depicted. Ms. Wilson portrays a beautiful love story that leaves the reader longing for the next book in this wonderful series.

I'm totally over...

The first story in this book set has totally turned me off the mfc, I found I couldn't tolerate her crying,at all. I found her weak, pathetic and really just annoying. I don't think the author could've written a more pathetic character. I'm totally over the mfc and won't be reading any more of the stories if this female is the main focus.
I did like the first story involving the mfc and mmc, but didn't really enjoy the second story. I do admit I like the stories of the siblings and other employees. Just not stories involving this female character.

Kind of In Love With This Family!

I love these books. Ruined was my first M/M romance book. I’m kind of in love with Sam and Cooper. That book was probably my favorite. I like how supportive and loving everyone is to each other. Ms. Wilson makes you want to be part of this family.

A definite must read

This was a fantastic book filled with my favorite characters, Jamie, Cooper, and Sam. Their stories are not easy to read due to the tragedies that they've had to overcome, as well as the current situations that they've found themselves in, but it was all worth it to end up with those they love.
I would definitely recommend this book, series, and author.

Stunningly Wicked

These three books show the sides of humanity that we long for as well as the sides we wish could be erased from the unlovable parts of human behavior. While I always enjoy the author's story telling I could always do with less sexualized content. It is easy to see this author has a wonderful sense of romance!

Does anyone else want to be adopted into the McIntyre family?

I love third family. The stories are full of real emotions, raw desires and angst and very suspenseful. With just the right amount of titillation this series kept me on the edge of my seat.
