This book was gifted to my kids by one of my husband's aunts. I decided to read it quick, just to see how many of these I knew/remembered. As I was sitting here reading it, all I could think about was the book of nursery rhymes one of my grandmother's had at her house and sitting on her lap while she read them to me. And now I'm excited that I have our own book of nursery rhymes that I can read to my kids (when they're a bit older and won't tear the paper pages, of course)!

There are a *lot* of rhymes in this book, and I was surprised how many of them I knew--where did I learn "Peas Porridge Hot," for instance? This book left me wondering 1) what counts as a mother goose nursery rhyme if "there were 10 in the bed and the little one said 'roll over'" merits inclusion and 2) from what dark places some of these originated.

I've been reading a few with Brigid at bedtime in recent weeks, and she often got bored pretty fast. Maybe when she is older.

I recall most of these rhymes from when I was younger, some I haven't even heard of. My son and I had fun reading them in the morning together. The illustrations are well done and very colorful. Definitely one book to have in our collection.

A book full of Nursery Rhymes - many are super fun and what I remember from my childhood, which were great to find again, but I did find that at least half the book is rhymes that I had never heard of and many weren’t super enjoyable.

My daughter absolutely loves this book and the sing along, poetry pages… but I do change some of the words “Tom gets beat” as and example turns into “Tom is sweet”, because wow, some of these reads are just not appropriate.
