It's Complicated

Best Friend Hot Roommate

Rate this book
This is why moving in with my hot best friend was the worst idea I was a cautious single mom. He was the biggest player alive. I had financial struggles. He played with billions. He was hot. And I was... well, not. So what did I do when he suggested that my son and I live with him? I stared into his irresistible blue eyes and said yes. The plan was simple. I would move out as soon as I found an affordable place. I only had to keep my horndog hands to myself for less than one month. But him strutting around shirtless was not a part of the plan. Neither was him eyeing me in my bathrobe. Don't even get me started on the way he looked after my son (hashtag major turn on). The plan went down in flames when his strong arms slid around my waist. What happened next could be summed up in one simple equation. Drama + Drama = More Drama

I’m a sucker for best friends-type romances, but I should know better by now that they are very rarely done right!

Brad is a major manho that disgusted me from the first chapter. He & Heather (heroine) have known each other for a little over a year through mutual friends and they have become one another’s BFF, however, while he has feelings for Heather, that apparently doesn’t stop him from telling her about who he fucks! Nice.

When the story opens, he has lost a major deal to his Dad and asked his Assistant to book him 2 tickets to Spain in which he planned to take his F**k Buddy with him. However, he still invites Heather & her son to come with him (knowing that she will refuse!) and he has this conversation with heroine:

H: “I just realized that I don't know anything about you”.
B: “ You know plenty about me. You know that I fucked a woman named Tanya Crosby this past weekend. And you also know that I will probably fly her to Spain with me. Trust me, there isn't much else about me that would interest you”.
B: “Women were complicated and I preferred to keep it simple with them. Hooking up with Heather, even if it were just for that one time, would ensure more complications than I cared to deal with. The kind that I didn't have the time for”.

This guy pissed me off so fast because while he thinks about hitting it with his bestie Heather, he keeps hooking up with every other woman. Now the disgusting part for me came when he took his FB with him to Spain after visiting heroine and we get a DETAILED sex scene of the OW giving him a BJ at the airport bathroom – while calling out heroine’s name! Then a few pages later, we have yet another scene with a new woman whom he invites to a hotel to f**k!

"The woman was hot. Her toned curves had my name written all over them and it was refreshing to feel horny for someone other than Heather. Perhaps my mind was still in the right place, after all".

So, Yeah …no! It was a DNF for me because there is NOTHING appealing or entertaining to read when a Hero (or heroine for that matter) has sex scenes or lusts after OP. Why Authors continue to write these scenes when readers have expressed their disgust over & over again is beyond me!

My biggest issue with this book is the lead male character. Bradley is a manwhore. He’s not simply a reformed man who slept with a harem of women in the past. No, we get to witness his manwhoring ways in the story.

Brad speaks to his “friend” Heather about the women he has sex with and even invites one of his conquests to spend the weekend with him in Spain at the beginning of the book. We are then favored with a few paragraphs about them having oral sex in the airport restroom. On the day Heather and her two-month-old son move into Brad’s condo, he leaves them to settle in while he meets a woman at a hotel. His ogling of Heather’s roommate’s butt didn’t sit well with me either.

At 11%, I read a line that had zero romance and almost made me delete this book from my Kindle. ”She was exactly the kind of woman I would prefer to sleep with, only she wasn’t the kind I could risk losing because I didn’t want to offer myself emotionally.” Pardon me, but if all you’re interested in is making Heather another notch on your belt, you wouldn’t exactly be offering yourself to her emotionally anyway. Saying she was the kind of woman he’d prefer “to date” would have been better.

Brad and Heather are acquaintances. They aren’t friends because Heather admittedly doesn’t know him well. Getting to know him better is one of the things she sets out to do after she moves in with him. Considering how little they really know about each other, the sex happened way too fast- like the day after he met another woman at a hotel. So, yeah, this was a no for me.

I’m a sucker for cliche and super cheesy tropes. So the idea of this? I was hooked.

But I wanted to swim away from this book as fast as possible once I got to the second chapter.

‘Was this a sequel? Is this part of a series of books?’ These were some of the thoughts that went through my mind as I read this. It feels like I’ve been dropped right in the middle of this relationship with no depth or background. Usually the ‘best friends’ trope offers more foundation to their relationship but in this case, it left me feeling empty and unsatisfied.

Multiple times while reading this, I just wanted to stop reading and never look back. This book never seemed to know what its characters were, it went too fast in some areas and too slow in others, and completely glossed over other aspects that should have been important. It felt like whiplash with every chapter and like there was no reasoning behind it.

Also? The conversations between Heather and her friends really bothered me, especially how they fawned over Brad’s rather aggressive and possessive behavior. And yeah, we get it. He’s built and a Greek god and blah blah blah. There’s literally??? Nothing else they say about him????

Wish I could have gotten the time back I spent from reading this all the way through. Disappointing and overall a rather rubbish book.

Another great read by Summer Brooks. A bit short for my taste (read I wanted more) and I finished it in one sitting. Wonderful story about Header and Brad that are good friends. When Heather is in need for temporary place to live Brad (who is secretly in love with her but is afraid to tell her because he don't want to lose their friendship) invites her and her son to live with him... What will happen next is on you to read in the book... I will just say that I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read the next book by this author.

I received this books as a gift to read and I would like to give my honest opinion of what I read.

This is really a cute story, of two people that have feelings for one another but think that they are in the friend zone. There are misunderstands, hurt feelings at times but when it all boils down to the truth were they ever really in the friend zone?

Bradley Coleman has spent is life up until recently being controlled and manipulated by his father Herman Coleman and his mother that agrees with what his dad says. Breaking out on his own he has a chain for successful restaurants around the world. The he broke away from his dad’s company HC Accounting to open up his own firm Cole Advisories. So of course he has had to battle with his Dad over new accounts including the present on for the Sheikh Azeerh of Dubai. Brad had met Heather when her roommate Rachel Phillips was dating one of his best friends Author Bride at the time. Heather was pregnant at the time and she and Brad spent the evening talking and from then on out they were friends, but secretly Brad adored Heather and her son Max.

Heather was now living with her roommate Rachel and trying to work with her degree in physiology as a therapist. She had to quit the job that she had before in the corporate world that she loved because of all the time that she needed to take to do a good job, plus she didn’t want to have her son raised by a nanny. Max’s father Wayne Colt last words to Heather before he left the country for an acting career were for her to get an abortion. So of course she wants nothing to do with the man.

Heather and Rachel are getting at odds with one another. Rachel is still living the single life and now she is dating Neil Rowdell another one of Brad’s good friends. Lets just say that Rachel comes home at all different hours with her new love and when the get together she is not that quiet about it. Heather decides that she is going to move out and once Brad discovered the horrible place that she was going to be living at he offered up his home for her to live in until something more suitable and affordable could come up.

Now Heather has secretly had feelings for Brad from the beginning now how was she going to be able do deal with these feelings being around him most of the time? She thinks that because she has had a child that her body is not attractive any long and that he could not possibly want someone like her. Are they going to weather the storms and forge a lasting relationship or is Wayne Colt; Max’s father going to come back into Heather’s life? This book is really well written and I enjoyed reading it so much I guarantee you will not be disappointed if you are looking for an easy ready with a great ending.

I've now read a couple of books by Summer Brooks,,,,, I really do like her work,,,,

Heather Clayton has a newborn son named Max,,,, his so called father, Wayne, disappeared as soon as Heather told him she was pregnant,,,, so Heather was on her own, although she had her friends around her and she was living with her friend, Rachael, who seems to bring a new guy home all the time, but her backbone and main confidant is Bradley Coleman,,, he has been there thru everything, even when Max was born,,,, and anytime Heather calls, he makes time for her,,,, she sometimes wishes he was more than just her friend,,,,,

Bradley Coleman split off from his father's company of Herman Coleman (HC) Accounting,,,, Brad calls his company Cole Advisory,,, and his father rubs every new account he wins over Brad firm, into Brad's nose,,,, Brad's best friend is Heather Clayton,,,, he doesn't do relationships, but has a friends with benefits relationship with a woman named Tanya Crosby, but all he really wants is a relationship with Heather,,,, but he can't bring himself to ask her how she really feels about him, afraid that he won't have any kind of relationship with Heather after that,,,, but, when Heather and Max's lives are threatened,,, they must move into Brad's house,,,, now, maybe they can figure out they're feelings for each other,,,,

This was a good book to read, it had me entertained thru the whole book,,, it was a real page turner and once you thought you knew what was going to happen,,,, you had to think again,,,, it had just the right amount of action and adventure and lots of that good old fashion steam,,,, I would totally recommend this book to anyone,,,,,

Another sinfully delicious story from Summer Brooks. Heather is a single mom whose boyfriend ran out on her just after she told him she was pregnant even having the audacity to suggest she have an abortion and never even caring once the baby was born. She's moved into an apartment with her friend while she tests the waters in a new counselling career, but the situation quickly becomes volatile to their friendship and Heather realizes it would be best to find a new place to live or they won't be friends much longer. Brad is a wealthy, successful playboy who enjoys his freedom, but he's secretly lusting after Heather and he absolutely adores her son, which only complicates their friendship. Brad is desperately trying to avoid any complications, but his love life is suffering because he can't get Heather out of his head. So, when Heather tells him she's got to move but her budget would only allow her to afford the most terrible neighbourhoods, Brad realizes that he's got tons of room at his place and he offers to move her in. Temptation quickly turns to lust and their budding relationship becomes serious. But Brad's never had a serious relationship, can he handle the direction it's going or will he somehow manage to screw things up? What happens when Heather's ex tries to rejoin her life? You'll have to dive in to find out.

Best Friend Hot Roommate - a review by Rosemary Kenny

Best Friend Hot Roommate is the latest book by the inimitable Summer Brooks. A story of second chance love that builds between the male and female main characters in a delightful way that explores their back stories and friendship. I liked the way they both had relationships outside their burgeoning one, with friends who had their own issues and added interesting variations on the aspects of love that were all too possible as outcomes for the main characters.
Would they ever get their HEA or wold it have been better to remain as close, loving friends and seek happiness elsewhere.? The story kept my interest throughout and encouraged me to want to read right through in order to find how it ended. One slight niggle was the inclusion of a pregnancy in the latter stages of the book, that, to me, cast doubt on the whole-hearted conviction of the couple to base such a momentous decision, (that would affect the rest of their lives) on.
I would recommend it to readers who like a story about a strong friendship which changes over time and with circumstances beyond their control.
A standalone story that flows well and is easily readable in one sitting - well worth a read!

OMG!!!!!Summer does knocks another hit out of the park! Best Friends and proof that opposites do attract. Brad is a player, big time; Heather is a single mom, struggling to make it day to day. Brad is a Billionaire, Heather counts her pennies and lives with her son and Jessica, her sister. Heather gave up her high powered, big money job to fall back on her therapist work from home so she can take care of Max, her son. Through a twist of fate, Heather moves in with Brad and suddenly there are fireworks and nothing can stop the force of nature that brings these two together except for one, and it does. I don't want to give the rest away but know that in true Summer fashion, her writing is so brilliant that you can't help but to get snuggled in with this story and not put this story down until the end and they get their HEA. Just enough heat to keep you interested and keep it believable, honest feelings and doubts; friendships and fighting and taking the chance to make yours and the one you love dreams come true. I think this is my favorite Summer Brooks book to date, and I have read most of her books . I absolutely highly recommend this beautiful love story.

Heather is a single mom living with one of her best friends and things aren't working out all that well. So to save their friendship she decides to move out. When Bradley learns that Heather is moving he ends up at the place she is considering renting and talks her into staying with him. Heather is attracted to Bradley but he hasn't acted like he wants anything more than friendship with her. Some of their mutual friends think that both of them need to stop denying how they feel for each other. On their second night together things get heated and they end up having sex which change things for them however Bradley still isn't sure he wants a relationship and when Heather learns that he is trying to avoid her she moves her family back out. Can Bradley convince Heather to give him another chance?

This is a great story once I started it I couldn't put it down. The chemistry between Bradley and Heather is blazing hot. This is a well written and very entertaining story. I would recommend this book to any book lover.

ONE SWEET HEART MELTING DELIGHT!!!
Wow! I love this little jewel. Talk about keeping it real. One exciting, intriguing, intense, heart pounding, pulse racing, nerve racking, smooth flowing, page turning tale that hits it straight on and doesn't slow down. Such a whirlwind of emotions and events that really make for one incredible experience. All the drama, heartache and suspense build and tension soars as the plot thickens with this amazing storyline. With so many twists and turns, unexpected circumstances and unpredictable surprises around every corner keep your attention on the pages and frozen to your seat. The characters and scenes are written with such realism it really pulls this bad boy together beautifully. Summer nailed this little gem and brought it to life with such graphic details that make for one awesome overview. Fantastic job Summer, thanks for sharing this little guy with us.

WOW - this was an awesome book. I love the fact that kids were in it as it makes the story worthwhile. You know he is the one when your alpha friend drops everything for you. Having the kid seek him out was a wonderful touch, because you are right, what they see the most is what they want in life, not biological. The story is about Heather, who was abandon when she finds out she is pregnant because the douche of an ex is not ready to be a father and instead is ask to abort. The good thing is that her new BFF, Brad, does not allow her to think of the douche and helps her move on. Brad offers her a place to stay until she finds her own with the help of his assistant, and this is where everything changes for them both. Like any relationship, they have their ups/downs, but at the end they have their happily ever after.

3 stars with a "but I could have liked it more if..."

First book from this author and it was fairly good. Actually much better than 99% of the new author stuff out there. So why 3 stars, not 4 or 5? The characters were good (although sometimes their reactions in some situations felt a little flat) and the storytpkot interesting. Then about 2/3 if the way through, the writing made a hard turn to tell, tell, tell [i.e. rather than show]. If the character says blah blah blah, dont tell me he said it, have him actually say it. With quotation marks and everything! For me that's the biggest flaw an author can make. After getting the reader invested in the story and the characters, it's like they get bored with writing and feel the need to rush to the end without putting the same amount if care into the last half of the book as they did the first.

This author has lots of good potential though so I'll likely give her next book a shot.

Confession: yes, I like to read romance novels from time to time. Life can be tough, climate change is happening, and Donald Trump is president of the United States of America. Sometimes swiping open my Kindle and losing myself in a fun, sexy romance novel is just what the doctor ordered. So it goes without saying that this isn't the first book I've read in this genre. The story centers around the relationship of Heather, single mom, and Brad, a self-made millionaire and ladies man. From the beginning, I didn't find the friendship between Heather and Brad particularly believable. For two people who are supposedly "best friends," it seems that they hardly know each other. As a result, I found the romance between them a tad forced and a tad unrealistic. But then again, we don't exactly read these kinds of novels for believability, do we? ;) All that being said, this book was an enjoyable, entertaining, and quick read.

I’m not a quitter but I nearly quit this book. I saw this book advertised on FB. The blurb sounded right up my alley and I loved the cover so I figured I’d check it out.... well I did finish the book, but it left me thinking what in the heck did I just read?!? Story was rushed!! I mean there was no build up at all. Hot shot mega hot playboy gets schooled in next paragraph basically. He went from sleeping around to acting practically married within a few paragraphs.

I hate rating anything under 3 stars but this was sadly a 2 star read. I saw there is a book for Dani and Zander but I won’t be reading it.

If you enjoy books that move fast, have no buildup and skim the surface then you may enjoy this but I needed more substance and this story just didn’t meet those needs.

⭐️⭐️ dimly lit stars 😢

I got duped again. I didn't pay attention to the name when i chose the book. so here is a few spoilers for those who don't want to know

The author does not give you anything that is promised about the book. This was just not what i needed right now. This is about to be all over the place. tickle fights with friends, how many days passed by 5 with all that drama? she was a therapist no way she was the worst and seem to only have the one patient. Is saying the f world really that big of a deal to write about it. They said all the time like kids learning they can cuss. I was expecting some tension for days not her to move in and him not walking around the house with his shirt off to them hooking up less then 24 hours. I'm sorry so she is a therapist for married people but worked at a firm punching numbers? I'm confused how she manged to get the two opposite jobs with her degree.

Heather is living with her best friend, and she is driving her insane! Meeting Brad is the only highlight that she has going since her boyfriend took the opportunity given to him to go abroad in spite of the fact that she was pregnant. His take on the dilemma was to abort. Needless to say, he is on the back burner and her beautiful baby boy Max is her pride and joy. Brad loves Max and he has deep feelings for Heather as well but because of his dysfunctional family he doesn't do feelings or does he. When Max's father resurfaces Heather has mixed feelings whether she will communicate with him. Brad has his own opinion, and it is not a good one. Will Brad and Heather get on the same page about their feelings for each other and become a family or will her ex spoil a good thing?

Hot, sexy with good dose of drama - best friends to lovers romance

I fully relate to this one simple equation from the blurb of the book: Drama + Drama = More Drama. Best book of this author so far. I loved it! It has everything that I'm looking for whenever I'm reaching for a romance book. There are fun moments, there is angst, tension, suspense and what counts most - drama! Heather and Brad had this level of chemistry where they just drive each other crazy. And when Brad shows his caveman ways it was so hot, I just totally fell for him that moment. We also get glimpses to the lives of the characters from previous part of the series. If you haven't read it yet just give it a chance you won't be disappointed.

I’m not even sure what I read; I love friends to lovers romances but I wouldn’t classify this book in that category.

I didn’t like any of the characters in this book, they were all immature and self-centered. Heather acted more like a ditzy teenager than a successful single mom. I think the author was trying to portray Heather and her friends as successful and fun women but they just seemed judgmental and callow.

Heather and Brad are described as best friends but they don’t even really know each. I just couldn’t follow the story because nothing made sense. For example, Brad hopes he got Heather pregnant but he doesn’t want to overwhelm her by asking for a relationship.

This book is a companion to Ex-Lover New Boss.

I read this chapter by chapter given to me by the author through her newsletter.
This was a good short read and it drew me in from the first chapter. Both of the main characters are needing what is right in front of them and that is their best friend, who they happen to be to each other.
Heather has been hurt and left to raise her son alone and her best friend Brad is always there for her and although the has a hard time admitting it, loves being there for them.
It takes Brad a little longer to come around but Heather finally figures out, along with Brad, that they are perfect for each other.
A sweet love story between best friends who finally get out of their own way.

Superficial

Everything was just really superficial. Problems were glossed over or solved quickly. Some things didn't make sense, like she worked from home as a psychologist to make enough money for her half of rent or save enough to get her own apartment but she never actually saw any clients or mentioned having to work except twice. She hated listening to people's problems but then why get a degree in psychology? So just too many inconsistencies or things that just didn't land. The male character I didn't even like much. I wasn't ready invested in Heather either. I just prefer more depth in my stories and characters, and prefer conflicts to be worked through not glossed over.

This is book 2 in the Forbidden Mistake series. Heather was Zander's assistant and was looking forward to moving up in the company until she was left alone to raise a child on her own. So she moves in with a friend and works from home using her psychologist degree. Unfortunately, she might kill her friend whose one night stands are keeping her awake at night. When her best friend Bradley offers her and her son a place to stay until she can find a place of her own she accepts.

You feel Brad and Heather's chemistry immediately even though they both try to deny their feelings. I really loved this story. The emotions jump off the page and you feel part of the story. The characters are amazing and the storyline flows seamlessly. I highly recommend this book.

I really enjoyed this book about two friends who deep down were attracted to each other but were afraid to ruin their relationship if they give in to their desires. Brad and Heather finally give in to their desires for each other but there's trouble along the way. Heather a single mom has her old boyfriend the father of her child return and Brad's father wants to merge and takeover his company. Can our couple find their way to love and happiness? Loved the characters and the friends of Brad and Heather and it's a well written story with steamy romantic scenes. I volunteer to read and review this ARC.

Heather finds herself as a single mother and needing someplace to stay. Bradley is her best friend and in her eyes a player. When he finds out she needs someplace to stay he offers his home to her. He recognizes she is the one for him but has always been worried about ruining their friendship, something he does not want to lose. Once they are living together the love they have both being trying to not act on becomes impossible to continue to ignore. I really loved this sweet friends to lover romance. Great characters, in a nice feel good story. Well worth the read.

Summer is fast becoming a favourite author for me and once again she has excelled with this book

Heather is having a bad time her boyfriend walked out when she found out she was pregnant so now she is raising her son alone luckily she has a great friend in Bradley he is always there when she needs someone to talk to. When she needs a place to live he even offers her is home he loves both her and her son but is afraid to let her know how he feels. With both of them living together things star to heat up between them and a line is crossed. Now due to a miscommunication she has moved out will Bradley be able to get her back and give them the HEA they both deserve You will have to read to see
