Re-Entry

Rate this book
Re-Entry is an alternate universe epic that spans time and possibility. Obi-Wan Kenobi, while still a young Padawan, suffers an injury and wakes up with all of the memories, experience, training, and Force-strength of Old Ben Kenobi. It isn't long before the Jedi discover that Anakin Skywalker, a five-year-old slave from the Outer Rim, has undergone the exact same change. Obi-Wan and Anakin bear the scars of harsh lessons learned; those who love them must learn those lessons quickly, before the mistakes of old are repeated.

This is massive. I can’t do it justice with a full review, but I really started to love the cat that eventually shows up.

My Star Wars knowledge is rather limited… I watched, localised (dubs), the first three movies (4, 5, 6) a long, long time ago, and movie number 1 with that awful floppy-ears kiddiesh thingy apparently called a Gungan in English a long time ago, which was the end of my interest in this universe. But this story came highly recommended. I had to read up quite a bit on Wookiepedia (no typo, it’s a Wikia-hosted Star Wars wiki) while at the same time trying to avoid being exposed to spoilers (and there’s apparently a nōn-canon thing called Legands). I discovered that Re-Entry has its own Wikia, even!

Despite this, I found this story… series… whatever, enjoyable.

I found did not like the format of being 21 oneshots, some of them three Harry Potter books in length. I like “long” chapters usually, but this is just crazy. Also makes bookmarking very hard; I tend to stop reading at chapters’ ends and use browser bookmarks for that.

I also had to… endure through the rather long, well half canon-rehash half flashback to the time (future) before the time-travel-of-sorts. On the other hand, this was useful… but then, much was only alluded to. It was a long read, but rather well done compared to most casual time-travel or redo-from-start fanfictions.

Things are looking good, so I proceed to the second installment.
