One night of passion. Two second chances. Three little texts...

Former child star, Charlie Klein, is in a world of trouble. She’s broke, jobless, and no longer famous—except with the IRS. She’s ready to run, so an emergency call from Texas is all the excuse she needs to get out of Hollywood. But she doesn’t expect to crash into the sheriff of her hometown, the boy she loved and lost. One look at Hank Odom confirms what her heart has always known... She never stopped loving him.

Unlike the men in his family, Hank’s a do-the-right-thing kind of guy. When his cheating, soon-to-be ex-wife texts him wanting a second chance – or a twentieth chance – he’s determined to honor his vows. One problem? His traitorous heart has never forgotten the woman who just blew back into town.

One night of passion. Two second chances. Three little texts. And nine months of OMG!

I'm a born and raised Texas girl and am the multiple award-winning author of The Brides on the Run series--a fun, sexy, snarky, laugh-out-loud good time. If you don’t snort with laughter, then I haven’t done my job.

I'm also a wife, mother, and an actress/comedian. I used to think I could sing until someone paid me to stop. I took their money and kept on singing.

I love my family, all things Outlander, and puppies make me stupid happy. I can be found on Sundays during football season watching my beloved Houston Texans and trying not to let them break my heart.

Running From The Law is romantic comedy heaven!

The movie star and sheriff stole my heart and kept me giggling. If you love your rom-coms with witty banter, a strong and sassy heroine, and a hero with a big of swagger with his big heart, you'll love this entertaining and captivating read.

I have been absolutely dying to get my hands on the next book in this series, so I was beyond excited to read this. This book was not at all what I was expecting to get. Maybe it was the mood I was in, but there was just too much angst, drama, and emotional manipulation for me. I completely understand why the characters do the things they do, behave in the ways we see. The book is brilliantly written, and I think that was part of my problem. The characters are so real they leap off the page and straight into my imagination. So real that I want to smack both Charlie and Hank, or at least take the pair of them and shake them, yelling “get over yourselves!” I thought Charlie was a whiny brat, too invested in getting her own way in everything. And Hank was not the alpha I’d come to expect from previous heroes in the series. He lets the women in his life get away with far too much bad behavior at the expense of his self-respect and emotional well-being. This was a long book with a lot of things happening in it. Not only do we have the drama between Hank and Charlie, we’ve also got Charlie’s imploding/evolving career and missing money as well as everything with Hank’s extended family and the drug kingpin he’s supposed to stop. There were times I found it difficult to keep track of which plot thread I was following. I know that there will be readers that love the over-the-top emotional turmoil of this book, but all the self-sabotage wasn’t doing it for me. However, the adorably precious epilogue almost makes up for all of it.
I received a complimentary advanced copy of this book from the author.

"“You are unbelievable. You know that? I’m a grown woman, and nobody gets to tell me what I’m going to wear. Are you insane? You’re not my daddy, my boyfriend, or my husband.”

Her fists slammed to her hips.

“In fact, you’re someone else’s husband. What’s your wife wearing tonight, Sheriff? Huh?”

That should’ve been enough to make him walk away from her, but they were nose to nose, and he just wanted one more minute to pull her scent deep into his lungs.

'Wrong, wrong, wrong', his brain screamed at him.

He shouldn’t be alone with her in a dark hallway. He shouldn’t care what she wore, and he sure as hell shouldn’t be sporting wood just because the heat of her body wound around him like silken shackles. His inability to step away from her kept him rooted to the spot.
The closeness had them exchanging breaths.

'Breathe her in. Breathe her out.'

Against his will, he looped a stray hair behind her ear. His finger skimmed the warm skin just behind the lobe. Her lids slid shut, and she leaned her head toward his hand. He wouldn’t identify what that slight tilt of her head did to his heart, but he would suck it in, soak it up, and savor it for a bit longer. The moment hung between them like paper flowers in the rain. Beautiful, remarkable, and fragile as glass.

'Breathe her in. Breathe her out.'

The neon lights screwed with his vision. Alabama’s Feels So Right blared through the speakers. The combined scents of cologne, stale beer, and peanuts assaulted them. She hated him. He was furious with her. It was too dark, too loud, too oppressively hot. Didn’t matter. It was the most perfect moment he’d ever lived. It floated between them like the final notes of the saddest song he’d ever heard.

'Breathe her in. Breathe her out.'

The song changed to a fast two-stepping tune. A cheer rose up from the dart game. One of the neon lights flicked off then flicked back on, and the spell shattered, blown apart by reality and fucking horrible timing. Her eyes opened with a dreamy haze. It cleared faster than fog in a strong wind, and she pulled away from him. No, that wasn’t quite right, she removed herself from him with a clear, definitive step away from his body.

“I have to get back to work.”

A nod was all he could manage. That moment had been more intimate than anything he and Karen had ever shared, and it rattled him to the core."

*AUDIOBOOK REVIEW*

Book three in the Brides on the Run series is probably my favorite one yet. I love a good secret baby and a good second chance romance. I got both of those in this story. And it was really well done.

Hank and Charlie were both great characters. The child star and the small town sheriff. It was a really entertaining combination. Once again this story was well written with nice twists thrown in to keep the listener hooked.

I loved that the same narrator continued with this story and that this time I got to hear her throw in a Texas accent too.

Overall this was a really good contemporary romance and one I would definitely recommend.

At one point in this book another character tells the heroine to stop being a brat. And that sums up how the “heroine” behaved the whole book. As for the hero, good on him for giving the heroine a second chance. But when she keeps running instead of sticking around to talk and refuses to listen for a third time, good luck to you buddy.

Probably won’t finish this series. There are plenty of funny moments, but the characters are making me cranky.

This book was ok. I wouldn't tell someone not to read it. It just wasn't for me. It definitely wasn't my favorite in the series.

The book went on forever. I didn't like Charlie at all. It started when she left the hotel room.
The longer the book went on, the less I liked her. She was obnoxious. I really don't know how to describe Hank. I don't know if he was dumb, desperate, or just sad. He did some dumb things, but it seemed like he would have gotten tired of Charlie beating up on him all of the time.

By the time I got to Chapter 60, I didn't care about Charlie, Hank, or the situation with Charlie's shipment. I did appreciate the epilogue.

I definitely recommend you read this book and judge for yourself. I thought this was supposed to be kind of a light, funny, romance. Too much angst for me.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advanced Reader Copy of this book.

Love this book! It is so full of Jami Albright’s great sense of humour & wonderful storytelling abilities. I laughed, cried & swooned throughout because Charlie & Hank are a great couple, they’re so full of what if’s..... former TV star Charlie finds herself broke & back in her home town having to deal with so many things but she’s strong & can pull herself up. Her only problem trying to get over Hank again after one night together. Town sheriff & former boyfriend Hank is surprised to see Charlie again & thinks maybe the time is finally right for them, until his soon to be ex-wife shows up looking to try again. Now Hank is trying not to be like his father & brothers & make his marriage work even though his heart isn’t fully committed. Surprises are in store for Charlie & Hank some good, some not so good but each of them prove to make them that much stronger. Definitely recommend this book and the series.

Hank and Charlie have had this connection and love from their childhood/teenage years until instant connection when Charlie returns back in town years later. There is tension but not so much you are annoyed and want it over.

Hank’s loyalty and sense of honor both is heartwarming yet at times makes you want to slap him up the head.
Charlie has a crap life for her. Yes a child star but more against what she wanted. A life of doing what others wanted then stealing her happiness. What she has gone through makes you wonder how she holds it together.
Neither Hank nor Charlie are perfect and they both have their struggles. The most important thing is they come back to each other.

This was fun, a tad tension but very addictive. I’m very happy that I picked up this series. Kind of sad that there is only one more left in the series.

After hours of laughing out loud moment with the first two installments in this series, i did not know what to expect from this new story.

While I smiled at some attics of the secondary characters, it was not a comedy, it was a story full of tenderness, of introspections of two persons who had let her first chance in love pass and are messing with their second one.

I felt so sorry for Charlie, she never had the opportunity to be who she could have been, she was robbed of her youth and her young love, only to be used and betrayed by everyone around her, who only wanting a piece of her.
Her mother has stolen more than money from her, she stole also her dreams in life and her light.
But Charlie is also guilty in some way by letting others take charge for her, she has by cowardice thrown out many years of happiness, when she became in age, she could have make change and some different choices, instead she let things continue, easier to avoid conflict.

Hank seems only to live with his sense of duty ruling him. His failing marriage is for him a source of shame, he feels responsible when he was the one who has been betrayed.
Even if from the beginning his marriage was doomed.
Why firstly did he married if he loved an other woman, he was young in no need to hurry.
Even if Charlie has been a dream, he should have wait to find someone he can trustfully love.
I do not understand after loosing the love of his life he could have settle so quickly. It could only result in a mistake.
They both have big family issues but him, thinking it will show how good a man he is, choose to give his wife a second chance when everything point out there is a problem, sometime you have to face and accept the inevitable. His wife was his second choice, still he tries to make amends for something he did not do.

They both are making a lot of mistakes, she by refusing to listen then running away and he by rejecting his feelings then hiding from her. Each one makes assumptions about the other that bring only heartaches.

In all it was a lovely story of two people who were torn apart and had a bumpy road before going back together.

Running From the Law is the third installment in the Brides on the Run crazy hilarious series.

The book follows Charlie, a Zachville local inhabitant who's moved out from the small whacky Texan town to Los Angeles when she was only fifteen. On the outside, she became an adored teenager's television superstar and was envied by many but actually on the inside, she was just one more young sould manipulated like a puppet by ruthless persons who only saw her as a money ticket.

Deceived by the persons she thought cared about her and penniless, she decided to go back to the only place she could find solace and hopefully some authentic love to start her new life and stand up for herself.

There comes, Hank, the hunky town Sheriff and the only man she'd ever loved, left and hurt. It turned out his heart has always kept room for Charlie, his friend and first love although his mind chose otherwise.

By a crazy coincidence, these two reconnected but with the worst timing possible. What sounded like a blessing at first quickly became a curse.

Read along as two past lovers try to make it in the present and catch up for lost time to get their second chance, even it if is eight years later.
In between, vows, promises, babies, aromatic soaps, peanut shells and a police investigation, you will laugh, swoon, gulp but above all scream and curse at the unfortunate set of events and at Charlie's choices, one of the most frustrating one being her running from the law - the lawman who's crazy in love with her.

Charlie left her hometown with her mother to pursue her dream of becoming a child actor but years later her life is in shambles when her mother takes her money and leaves her with a mountain of debt including the IRS. She heads back home to help out her grandfather.

Hank is the Sheriff, her childhood sweetheart and always tries to do the right thing. When they meet up with each other one again the chemistry is off the charts and they have a steamy evening but they soon find out that trying to do the right thing may be the wrong thing?

This story takes you on a wild ride filled with humor, great characters and emotion. This is a great addition to the series and I can’t wait to see what she comes up with next. I received a complimentary copy of the audiobook and narrator does a great job with both the humor and emotional aspects of the characters.

A second chance love story that almost isn't...

At 15 Charlie was just coming into herself when she was ripped out of her hometown and her growing relationship with Hank. I know at 15 you can't really call it a relationship but first love is often the one you never get over. Eight years later her life in shambles and her grandfather in the hospital Hank appears in the most improbable place. Life, mean people, users, drug dealers, and Hank (of the do the right thing even if it hurts club) work to keep them apart. But surely fate will be kind to Charlie this time, not on a bet! This twisty "feel" fest had me crying, laughing out loud, so mad I could throw my ereader and turning the pages as fast as I could. Love, love this story.

Not as impressed

I really liked the first two books in this series, especially running from a sweet talker, so I was pretty excited to read this one. I didn’t like this book as much. Charlie annoyed the hell out of me. She was too immature and I kept hoping throughout the book that she’d grow the most, but she just kept repeating the same things over and over again. I wanted to strangle her.

Hank annoyed me as well. I wanted more from him. I wanted him to be more like Gavin and Jack. I wanted him to be a strong alpha with a sweet side. He was too nice and got pushed around too much.

Overall it was an okay story. I’d love to see Beau and Hailey together. That would make for a fun read. The interaction between those two was one of my favorite parts of the book. You could feel the tension and attraction between them and I found myself wanting more of it. I like the authors writing and I’ll keep reading the series.

Running From the Law: Hank and Charlie

Until the last moments, I wasn't sure if Hank and Charlie could pull off a believable HEA. They were both so wounded and so afraid, and they each faced so many obstacles. But man was their final resolution satisfying. Absolutely loving this series! The author shows fantastic insight into human nature, building dimensional characters I can't help but care about.

Definitely liked this book better than the others.

This book was more about the couple and how they navigated their relationship.

I will say, I wish there was more of a storyline as to why Karen wanted Hank back and I would have liked to hear if Charlie got to sue Ron.

Splendid

At last a writer who could write romance novels actually with some story.i

If every writer think that sex scenes are necessary for a novel they are so mistaken.

And please point out openly the mistakes of the heroin instead of always blaming men so that women can realize their mistakes.

Congrats Jami all three brides on the run books are very good

This is the first book I have read by Jami Albright and I LOVED it! U will be downloading the other books in this series! It has humor and tenderness, and perfetly imperfect main characters that grow through the story. I also love the secondary characters. Nobody is one dimensional. I wanted more. I was privileged enough to receive an advanced reader copy of this book from the author for a voluntary and honest review.

The premise was good, but this one was not for me. I didn't like either of the main characters. I couldn't understand how Hank could treat Charlie the way he did. He sleeps with Charlie, then goes back to his wife that cheated on him? Didn't make sense to me no matter how much he didn't want to feel like a failure. And Charlie just came off as bratty and immature. As much as this wasn't for me, I will continue to read this series.

While I kind of liked the book, some parts of it were not to my liking. I felt that Charlie was immature and bratty. Hank is a good guy, but he's too straight laced with always doing the right thing, all because of his father and brothers. I thought this book was a bit of a let down, but I know it's only one person's opinion.

Typing this review sucks. I absolutely LOVE the other books in this series, but this one just missed the mark for me in a lot of ways.

I found the lead male and female both incredibly frustrating. I love it when characters have flaws but the his and her flaws in this book were decided on and then played out over and over and over again. It plays like this:

"Just let me explain!"
"No, I don't want to hear it!"
*later realizes she should have let him explain*
"I'm so sorry. I should have let you explain instead of shutting you out."

TWO CHAPTERS LATER:
"Just let me explain!"
"No, I don't want to hear it!"
*later realizes she should have let him explain*
"I'm so sorry. I should have let you explain instead of shutting you out."

NEXT CHAPTER:
"Just let me explain!"
"No, I don't want to hear it!"
*later realizes she should have let him explain*
"I'm so sorry. I should have let you explain instead of shutting you out."

I just couldn't re-read the same scenario over and over again and have the book feel engaging.

After receiving an ARC of Charlie and Hank’s story in Running from the Law, I was absolutely delighted and I couldn’t put it down. This is by far the best one yet. Their love story was so sweet. I laughed. I cried. I smiled a lot. And totally felt like Hank and Charlie were a real part of my life, my friends. Jami’s sense of humor and writing are fantastic. She always leaves me wanting more! I loved this book. I think it is the best so far in the series, with lots of twists and turns! I can’t wait to read about Hailey and Beau’s love story. I think that’s one thing I like the most about this series, is that characters from each previous book pop up in the next and you get to explore a little more of them. Well done! Thank you Jami for the entertainment!
