Certainly not Charlie Vega, a burnt-out fashionista in desperate need of inspiration. Neither does Francesca Davies, a rock-climbing internet celebrity with a family who thinks a woman’s worth is measured by her husband. The two of them are competing on the hit reality series “The Makeover Challenge” for very different reasons, but when they get paired up as a team, the road to victory gets a lot more complicated.
With so little in common, it's surprising that their chemistry is immediate, but it isn’t long before each woman finds herself intensely attracted to the other. With their complicated baggage, neither is exactly ready for love, but they're certainly not averse to some steamy encounters...that are bound to get them into hot water.
Could they even make a real relationship work on a show that’s actually nothing like reality?
Marian Snowe is an author of lesbian romantic fiction. She can often be found talking to trees, examining flower petals with a magnifying glass, or venturing with small steps into the frigid New England ocean. She lives with her vivacious, adventure-loving wife, Ruby Grandin, and two cats. She loves to settle down in a meadow or at her desk by a window (with a good view of the birdfeeder!) to write stories about ladies in love.
2.5 stars, happy ending story, I liked the race premise & challenges but I felt the characters were a bit one dimensional & charactural, not real people I couldn't connect to them hence the lower rating
Another great book, you know when you see Marian’s name on a book you’re not going to be disappointed and this one’s no exception, set in the world of a reality tv show/competition, couples who are complete extremes join together to win. Pitted against each other they must learn to trust and rely one another.
When I read the first chapter of this book I wasn't sure that I wanted to continue. The first chapter focused on makeover topics and I'm not a big fan of that subject matter. But I'm really glad that I pressed ahead with the book. It had an Amazing Race type vibe with indoor and outdoor challenges which two person teams needed to work together to complete. The main characters of Charlie and Francesca complemented each other's strengths really well throughout the challenges and in their developing relationship. A nice romance that demonstrates people can get past prior hurt if they find the right person.
3.5 Star - Fun little romance about two ladies on reality tv show falling in love
Both leads are really likable characters. Angst is low and plot move along with interesting "challenges" posed by the tv show they are participating in that let us get to know these characters and lets them get to know each other. There is a bit of excitement action wise at the end of the book that I was not expecting. The epilogue was a wonderful peek into their future and I loved how it ended.
Charlie and Francesca are two You tube creators who are put on a reality show. Charlie knows her fashion and make-up and Francesca knows how to go up a mountain with no ropes. Set against against several more couples each given a task to help their partner. Until the end when upon a mountain for the last task and heroine emerges. Who? Follow along as the two authors weave a tale that putting down the book or kindle is hard to do. Enjoy!
Pleasant read in the reality show genre. The main characters were different enough to make for an interesting relationship. That said, they were a little flat.
The dramatic scene with Charlie jumping on the rescue helicopter to go help was too unrealistic to pass the laugh test.
Working together on a joint mini-series was a nice way for the main characters to achieve their HEA.
This isn't the first time this plot has been used(meeting on a reality show). How else would two women with nothing in common meet? Dating app, work, sport group or a bar perhaps? This was well written with realistic characters and a fun read. Spoiler of course there's an HEA
Your main characters Charlie and Francesca were amazing. The storyline was fascinating and highly refreshing. Throughout the book the twists and turns kept me captivated. The dramatic problems that you wrote into the story just enhanced the book.
This story was absolute perfection!!! With every page I read, the more I identified with & felt connected to these characters then the more I became invested in their journey of revealing pieces of themselves & exploring each other.
