Lexi Davies has landed the dream job, riding at one of the most prestigious stud farms in Europe. Add to that, her best friend works with her, and she has her pick of top competition horses, her life is verging on perfect. Until a blonde haired and blue eyed ghost from her past arrives... Jake Thornton was her first love and is her bosses son. Add to that Phillip Andou, a devilishly handsome top show jumper who seems to set her heart racing every time their eyes meet, and the stress of getting to the top of one of the most competitive sports in the world. It's the perfect storm. Will she be able to balance romance and competition? And will Jake and Lexi's history win out over Phillip's magnetism? Or will the horses win out over all.
I gave this book one star. I have never done that before. Although a fairly interesting story and the author clearly knows her horses and horse sports well the whole thing was ruined for me before of hundreds of errors in punctuation, spelling and the story. Frequently the horses names and sexes change in the middle of a jumping round or someone changes sex for no reason. The ‘Heroine’ sounds like a vain self obsessed spoilt brat, who does sound like she rides well. But for the lack of some proof reading this would have been just my sort of book. I wondered if it had been done on a voice activated computer package and not checked. Please try again.
Interesting plot lines keep the reader's attention in this YA show rider romance, but the editing is pathetic. Whether the writer self-service ( big mistake) or the transfer to Kindle format is sloppy, the poor composition and punctuation is distracting, even for an American! I would Be tempted to use excerpts from this book as an exercise in editing for a freshman Comp class. That having been said, the personalities are varied and believable and one is left waiting to find out what happens in the saga of Levi and Phillip. Good light reading.
Ms. Frances needs to polish up her edits and maybe proofread herself. The storyline itself centers around the world of competitive riding and the emotional entanglements therein. The descriptive passages take you into the arena and are pretty authentic. But it could be tightened and grammar and punctuation could be vastly improved as has been pointed out by many Goodreads readers.
Wonderful international showing and riding and details of jumping. I did find the romance part drawn out and unbelievable, though. No one goes through that much angst for years over a minor error in omission. But the horse part was good enough so I am looking forwarward to the next book.
Enjoyed the book immensely but: I found that punctuation and spelling left a lot to be desired but perhaps that's a sign of my age - 64! Another grumble was when Lexi started off riding "Cabby" who the announcer called "Larista" when they entered the ring and if that wasn't confusing enough the horse kept on going from he to she! Still enjoyed it though.
