A little romance, a little mystery, a little paranormal. Florence Keeling has written an engaging story about a girl, a ghost, a dog, a book, a mystery, a Secret, and a love. Bea is ready for a new start, and after some shenanigans at her job she decides to take a new job in a little village a couple hours away. And bonus her new job is with a publishing house and she’s always dreamed of being an author. There was a lot packed into the story, and sometimes it was a little too busy. There is Bea and her new job and her relationship with her new boss. Then there’s Bea and her sweet romance with Eddie. Can’t forget about uncle Joe and the little black dog Buddy who always seems to be leading Bea in a certain direction. We also have Bea and her tenuous relationship with her mother and of course the ghosts.

Bea was such a likable character, but wow did she frustrate me at times. I really enjoyed all the elements to this book, but at times there was a little too much going on. My favorite parts were the charming village, the lovely boat, the sweet romance with Eddie, the paranormal aspect, and the little dog. If some of the other stuff was trimmed this would’ve been perfect. This is not to say that I did not enjoy this book, because I definitely did. I just wish there was a little more of the parts that I enjoyed the most. An uplifting feel good story perfect for an afternoon of summer reading.

Bea's mother is sort of a "hippie," a free~spirit for sure, always on the move. So Bea's childhood is not typical, at times even a blur. She feels like her siblings raised her. Eventually she heads off to college and begins a life on her own, while her mother continues to flit in and out. Finding herself in a relationship going nowhere productive and a job that is even worse (and then without a job) Bea is ready to start over.
She finds herself drawn to a place, a job, and makes new friends while working on writing a book.
But life is not done throwing curveballs at her.
I put this on my mystery shelf even though it is a romance. There are paranormal elements to the story and it is really a tale about discovering oneself. A discovery story about Bea and her family, as well as about others on a path of discovery.
The characters are likable. One in particular the reader will sort of enjoy disliking. Others are mysterious and I found myself curious to learn more about them as the book progressed.
There are moments I wanted to shake Bea and tell her to open her eyes ~ you are smarter than this!
I caught on to part of the truth before it was revealed, and the answer did not go as deep, emotionally, as I hoped, but the paranormal aspect made up for that.
Overall, a really enjoyable read. I look forward to more by this author.

Winters’ Gift offers its readers something different. Bea is a likeable protagonist flawed but easy to empathise. Her life’s not easy, especially at work. With a little supernatural nudge, she embraces an opportunity for a new life and job.

Bea’s adventures in Bloomsdale are numerous, some funny some sad as she learns the secrets of her past and a real-life family drama unfolds at the publishing house.

Vibrant characters and a lovely balance of humorous and poignant moments make this an engaging story, especially with its supernatural twist.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

Bea Winters is so ready to start a new life away from her bully of a co-worker. So when she is apprised of strange happenings that point her to a perfect job in a charming town called Bloomsdale in Yorkshire, she takes a chance and receives a job as an accountant in a small publishing company owned by the gorgeous and charming writer, Scott Summers. However, he has a strange story with a missing wife and a volatile personality. And then there is the cute and sweet Eddie Richards, Scott’s brother, who doesn’t have an easy relationship with Scott. Both of the men are attracted to Bea, but she has her own things to deal with. Mainly, her mother’s secrets and a mysterious man who seems so familiar. Can she settle down in this charming town that feels like home for the first time in her life?

This heartwarming romantic story has an interesting love triangle with a bit of mystery. I felt bad for Bea’s life with her selfish mother who seems to flit from boyfriend to boyfriend and taking advantage of her kids. It was good for Bea to start a new life in a charming town and though Eddie is a bit younger and awkward at first, and after some misunderstandings, they seem well suited for each other. Scott, on the other hand, is full of himself and loves the ladies even though he’s still married. There are two mysteries in this book. One I figured out pretty early on, the other was a shock, but plausible and very interesting. If you like comfortable and mysterious love stories with intriguing characters, give this book a try.

Thank you to Ms. Keeling for giving me the opportunity to read this book with no expectation of a positive review.

This is the story of Bea Winters who most definitely is not having the easiest work life in a place that seems to be run by a number of people who like throwing their weight about. After one to many ‘jump or be pushed’ moments, Bea is off to Bloomsdale. I’ll admit I rather hearted the nice little supernatural moments, that were similar to those you’d read in children’s stories, the newspaper that suddenly appears then disappears, Bea’s real name coming up (great name to include the name ‘Bea’), in the midst of very pretty settings. Definitely one for the people who enjoy a nice, easygoing, light read. Thanks to Rachel at Rachel’s Random Resources for the book in return for an honest review and for allowing me to be part of the blog tour.

Loved the quirky characters and the setting of a publishing house. Bea was a likeable if a little gullible character. Eddie was a bit of a mystery at first but as the story unfolded we discovered a secret in his past. Who is the mysterious man that Bea keeps seeing, is he real or a figment of her imagination. A mix of romance, mystery and paranormal made this an enjoyable read.

A new start, with new people and a sweep of paranormal happenings.

Bea Winters wants to follow her dreams and does not want to be bullied anymore at work. So when an advert appears to work in the accounts department of a publishing house in Yorkshire, she takes the chance!
Having the job, she has to find a place to stay. Luckily she can count on Eddie Richards to help her. he is also an aspiring author and he finds the perfect solution for her.
She enjoys her new life and work, especially her new boss is not so bad to look at! Scott Summers is hard not to look at, and Bea finds herself at the center of his attention.

For those who think this is just a paranormal story and not their cup of tea, YOU’RE WRONG!!! I’m not a paranormal fan myself, so I was a bit fearful of it would be too much and not believable.
And I truly enjoyed every bit of this book! The paranormal aspects added a layer of mystery to it, but was not something that was too present.

I found it sweet to read how Bea was trying to find her own happiness. Leaving her job and take a leap of faith of accepting a part-time job without even having a place to stay, takes a lot of courage.
And when she meets Eddie, well, I found myself smiling. Eddie is the kind of friend everyone needs in their lives.
He is there (almost) every time Bea needs a helping hand, and even more. And despite he is a bit younger than Bea, there is more going on.
And then there is Scott… he is gorgeous yes. But from the start I didn’t feel at ease when he was mentioned.
There was something that I didn’t like about him. I couldn’t put my finger on it. Also the way he behaved with Bea was off…

At some moments in the book I wanted that Bea dared to speak more her mind. It caused some awkward situations with both Scott and Eddie, and if she just dared to speak out, a lot of it could have been avoided.
I loved this story as it was more than just a romance. It as a story about being courageous, finding the place where your belong. Meeting new people, some more important than others.
But it was also about belonging. Bea moved a lot during her childhood and was mainly raised by her siblings. And moving to Yorkshire means for Bea finding more than just a new job. She finds a place that feels like home and where she belongs, with even a few surprises.
And what I really liked, was that despite some initial dislikes, the actions of those persons get explained and even if I didn’t agree with them, I understood their reasoning.

A beautiful story with that tiny bit of extra!

I read this book for a blog tour, thank you to the blog tour organiser and the author for inviting me to take part in this tour and for providing me with a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

This book was really out of my comfort zone, but as soon as I started it, it felt like a very comforting read, I was quickly immersed and very surprised by how much I liked it throughout.

This book is set in Bloomsdale, a little village in Yorkshire where we follow Bea Winters, a 25-year-old woman who has just left her life and job in Birmingham because she was no longer happy and wanted to start over. As soon as she arrives in this little town, some strange things happen and she has to grapple with finding a place to live, her gorgeous boss, her great new job and the mysterious Eddie Richards, one of her colleagues.

I quickly connected to Bea and found that she was very believable. I instantly liked her and found her to be very believable, strong-willed with a strong head on her shoulders and a lot more mature than her age would imply. I loved reading about her and the plans she made with Eddie for the Sophie, the narrow boat she will live on. I didn't always like Scott, in fact, at times I hated him, and although he justifies himself at the end, I didn't find this bit very believable and I ended up not really liking him. However, I adored Eddie from start to finish and I was rooting for him and Bea the whole way.

Overall, this was such a lovely story, it really is a great contemporary romance with a little special twist that will surely surprise you as much as it did me. I wasn't bored at all, I just kept turning the pages because the writing gripped me and was very engaging. It was such an enjoyable reading experience and I would highly recommend, it was really comforting and I had a range of feelings throughout! I gave this 4.5 stars because it was just lacking the spark I need to rate a book 5 stars, and some things just felt a bit too convenient or rushed for my liking, but it was definitely a great read.

I had the pleasure of reading Florence Keeling's "Winters' Gift" as part of a Summer Solstice Readalong and it was brilliant! I couldn't put it down and read it in one day. It was a lovely easy read with a story that flowed so beautifully you just had to keep turning the pages to find out what came next. It had a wonderfully satisfying ending and I enjoyed every word that led me to it. If you enjoy well-written ladies fiction, then you will not go far wrong in treating yourself to a copy of this delight.
