Killing vampires was my full-time job. Until I became one.
We were hunters. The final line between humanity and monsters from your worst nightmares. Stronger, faster, and possessing supernatural abilities; they were unstoppable.
Yet we never gave up.
Not even when we were forced to kill one of our own, the only person I thought of as my sister. It was mercy. That's what I told myself every night. That's how I stayed sane. But there were still thousands of them, and they never stopped coming. The world was crumbling, my team was falling apart, and any chance of victory was starting to look like a delusion.
Things couldn't get any worse.
Until I was bitten.
Bitten and betrayed by a vampire whom I knew all too well. Tall, brooding, and dangerously sexy. A vampire who lusted for something more than just my blood.
I'd rather die than fall under his spell and become the one thing I swore to kill. But with the way he touches me... or the way my body unconsciously reacts under his piercing gaze...
He might just be worth it...
BITTEN is the first book in Blood Bonded. Full of adrenaline, lust, and secrets, this new series delivers a steamy dark spin on vampire romance.
A little while ago I was approached by the author with a review request for ‘Bitten’. Since I love Romance stories and Vampire stories, I was definitely intrigued with this book. So I started reading as soon as I could.
So.. this review is hard for me to write. I don’t really know where to start. This story started out interesting. We meet Cassandra, who is a vampire hunter and she and her friends have just caught a vampire. This part really made me interested in what would happen next. Unfortunately before I could really figure this whole vampire hunter thing out, the story became revolved around Cassandra and her best friend and it almost became a erotic novel that was just a little disturbing.
The characters Cassandra and Dave seemed to be interesting at the beginning. But soon enough I was reading while my eyebrows were raised in constant surprise. Dave is some kind of dominant, and his requests where really sudden and just.. well weird. And the story that started interesting soon became a story I just felt awkward about reading.
I think overall this story had potential, but it just missed something. The romance was way to sudden, fast and overall missed details. It started out like a romantic fantasy novel, and in the end it was some kind of SM vampire story. If this story was just a little longer, and more extensive it probably would have worked much better. Now it just felt rushed, and I couldn’t really like the characters because in the end I felt like I didn’t know them at all.
This book wasn’t for me. I definitely liked the cover though.
This is Chloe's debut book - it's not a bad read, it's not great either, but there is good story line dying to get out, its not just quite there yet!!
The story starts out well enough, not much background and direction in where the story was going until you got into it. Two years ago this Vampire King came out and offered his blood to all humans who wanted it, giving them power and and such like, thousands if not more took his offer. Now humanity is in a constant battle with the vampires. Cass is a hunter within one of these groups, fighting the vampires along with her boyfriend and other members of the group, including her best friend Dave, who she is hugely attracted to.
One of their team, her sister, is caught and turned, being sent back to the group to wreak havoc, but she is killed, as is the vampire who turned her. Again another vampire, higher in the pecking order turns up, but it turns out that Dave her BFF is a vampire himself, unlike the others, and steps in to save Cass, making her his blood slave. But Dave is determined not to use her and set her free, and thinks he knows a way.
Turns out Dave is a very special vampire, true son of the original King, and the only vampire on earth who can actually 'father' a vampire. The King is dying as so long as he doesn't produce any more vampires from his loins, humanity stands a fighting chance. There is a dark side to Dave, one that speaks to him, who he keeps caged up within himself, one he dare not let loose. His thoughts on freeing Cass turn out to be false, but she is happy to be his in any way shape or form, and he sets about making Cass his.
This is where the plot looses the story line for me, it then concentrates on Cass and Dave's relationship, on their budding Dom/Sub roles, and hardly any mention of the vampire plot is mentioned until nearly the end when the story kicks back in again. Dave's brother Tobias shows up to fight Dave, Tobias believing Dave is weak and not fit to rule as King. Dave ends up letting his darker side out to play and then struggles to regain control after his fight with Tobias. Again this could be developed so much more, we don't learn enough about Dave and his dark side, which to be honest is really quite tame, but has the capacity for far more darkness than he is allowed to show.
There is definitely potential here, but the story is not quite there for me, it gets lots in the sexual games between Dave and Cass. But I am willing to give book 2 a go to see where Chloe might take this.
An unusual vampire romance & and fairly enjoyable read. The story-line & plot is a bit slow in the beginning but it is quite well-written & intriguing. The characters are complex individuals & each of them seems to have their own hidden agenda. It is about: a female hunter (Cassandra) who with her team stand between the monsters & humanity but the team is falling apart then to her dismay she is bitten by a sexy vampire (Dave) who seems to want more than her blood. There is: hunters, vampires, assassins, twists & turns, suspense, intrigue, adventure, action, secrets, danger enemies, threats, revenge, heartache, doubts, attacks, choices, blood bond, emotional turmoil, inner voice, realization, verbal conflict, lust, consequences, expectations, distrust, realization, jealousy, some domination/submission, discovery, sibling rivalry, confrontation, death, fear & there is some steamy scenes. Sadly this book does end on a cliffhanger and I look forward to the second book in the series.
5 star story but needs character formation and backround.I also thoroughly enjoyed the begining but wish there was a little more backround on the hunter storyline.Though at times things seemed rushed and thrown in there i like her ability to tell the story without dragging it out to much....it is finding that happy medium throughout the whole story.I love a good love story with some steam but it seemed to abruptly morph into a kind of smut and was a bit uncomfortable. It also seemed a bit out of character for Cass as the former badass vampire hating hunter. The other thing that threw me off a bit was the total emotional detachment from cass after her transition, as she was previously so passionate in her hate and her obvious life goals of ridding the earth of Vampires.I would have liked a bit more on the backround of Dave,Tobias and Amanda.Over all though I enjoyed this story and i am looking forward to part 2.I believe this writer has possible literary gold with this story line and the possibilities. For a debut novel I loved it and despite my critiques it deserves the stars i gave.

Loved. Your first book,a great way too start a series, the away Dave and Cass circled each other at first trying too right the pull. The environment they are trying to live in the chaos, humans trying to survive the vampires.Every day is a battle, love the plot and the characters . Looking forward to the following books.
I do love vampire stories and this one is so good. it is a lot different to the ones I usually read and that is a refreshing change. I think it is going to be a really exciting and passionate series judging by this first excellent story. I am looking forward to the next book to see how the series moves forward.
The book started out really slow for me but I’m glad I kept reading. Case and David’s relationships is initially friends but finally progresses. David hides a secret and the secret is the only thing that saves Cass’s life. I can’t wait to read more...
