Devon:
It's a good thing I'm a nurse with the patience of a saint, because I seem to attract disaster wherever I go. Now I'm mixed up with misunderstood rockstar Fallon Kelly, who's recovering after being injured in a fire. He seems really sweet and nice...

I just hope I don't get burned.

Fallon:
I have some confessions to make, like this one: There are two sides to every story.

Here's mine.

Down Beat is a full-length 60,000+ word gay rock star romance about lovers finding happiness amidst a tumultuous lifestyle of raising hell through sex, drugs, and rock & roll. This book contains sexually explicit material and colorful language intended for adults 18 and older. Each book in the Chords of Chaos series can be read as a standalone novel, but they're better if you read them in order.

This author failed me

This author does not inform the reader of the triggers in this book. This book contains scenes in which characters drinks are laced with drugs and RAPE... This is not a spoiler. This is a warning. Casey Carson learn to treat readers better. Stating a book is sexual explicit is absolutely different than rape. F. U.

This book should really come with trigger warnings. Get me wrong I like a dark romance and I have no triggers that I know of but this book is very deceptive from the blurb.

There is no happy ending, no romance and a whole load of drug taking. There is also off page SA and very heavily implied SA of the main character. There is also suic1de themes.

You do need to read the first book in the series for this one to make sense as it appears to be an ongoing storyline.

Overall, I can see what the author is trying to do but it’s not done in the best way and some people might really struggle with this, especially as there are no warnings.

This book in the series was really good but again, the MC should have been stronger. The story line didn’t develop like I thought is was going to which in turn made the ending a complete surprise. I overlooked a lot of editing errors but I still really liked this book and can’t wait for the next in the series.

I really felt sorry for Devon. In one bad relationship to helping Fallon that was bad. I felt something for one character. Drugs and drinking aren’t my type of stories, so hard to get into them. The story didn’t have much of a romance in the story for Devon.
