Sugar Daddies #7

Sugar Heart

Rate this book
On the surface, Cortland and Driver are perfect for each other. In truth, they’re a one-night stand gone wrong just waiting to happen. When Cortland first met Driver, Driver was homeless and messed up in the head. None of that mattered to Cortland. He’s drawn to Driver’s strength. For someone who’s always felt helpless and weak, Driver’s scary possessiveness is like a warm blanket. That doesn’t mean Cortland has any intentions of getting tied down. Driver has wanted Cortland from day one. The problem is Cortland is older, richer, and out of Driver’s league in every way. When Cortland offers Driver a no-strings-attached one-night stand, Driver jumps at the chance to use the night to—finally—win the elusive man. He never expects the night to reveal he never knew Cortland at all. After Cortland disappears the next morning, Driver will have to fight like he never has if he hopes to woo the man back. It’ll take every skill he possesses. But a love like theirs is worth risking everything.

This was a super quick but emotional read. We find these two men already crazy about each other on the precipice of acting on it. They get together for one night only to be blown apart by their own mental issues. Both trying to find the way back to each other.
The feelings are beautiful and the found family is a steady rock that holds this series together.
Feel good stuff.

I liked this story. In the outside Corrrland appears to have it together and Driver not so much. But both have a few issues that they are working on it trying to. Together they fit and they work.

3,5*

PLEASE READ MY RATING SYSTEM!!!

To my ratings:

5* - very very good and rare (it would be a Blow-
Away-book like
‘Jesse's Smile' or ‚Joey’ from Angelique Jurd,
‘Save the at he kids' series from EM Leya,
‘Love’s Tethered Heart’ from C.L. Etta or
'Liberty' from Seth King),
it's like an A+

4* - very good and will be often reread and is a
WOW-book with interesting plot and surprises
(like most of Andrew Grey’s books)
it's like an A

3,5* - a really good book, which will be reread a few
times a year (most romances where you can
enjoy for relaxing and during waiting times in
hospitals). I can recommend them definitively!
It's like an B+

3* - it could be more then a one-time-reader,
maybe 2-3 times a year. It’s like a B

2* - it was ok to read, but it's more a one-time-
reader (i wouldn't recommend it heartily, but
it was ok). It's like a C-, D

1* - sorry, but that isn't really a book for me (too
many mistakes, not nice plot, illogical, so an
absolut NO-GO). It's like failure in the whole
line, dismissed, repeat the class

Cortland and Driver seem perfect for each other but they are a one-night stand gone wrong just waiting to happen. Cortland first met Driver when he was homeless but he was still drawn to his strength although he does have scary possessiveness. Driver has wanted Cortland from day one but he is older, richer and out of his league so when he is offered a no-strings one-night stand he jumps at the chance. After Cortland disappears the next morning, Driver will have to fight like he never has if he hopes to woo the man back. It’ll take every skill he possesses. But a love like theirs is worth risking everything.

I loved their story with the two damaged men who initially thought that they didn't deserve each other before Driver made a silly decision that he then needed to change before it was too late. I loved their relationship and how they needed to both have faith in themselves and each other to have the future that they both desperately needed. Easy to read, feel and understand you will be a little teary at times. This is an MM story with mature content.

Sugar Heart

A sweet and unexpected addition to the Sugar Daddies Series. This book went in a completely different direction than I was expecting, and I loved it! It’s always great when an author can surprise you. In previous books, we see Cortland as a sophisticated personal assistant to Wyld West, whom we got to know in Sugar Tycoon. Driver is a moody military veteran who was previously homeless. We come to find out both men have pasts that truly haunt them. Unfortunately neither feels they are good enough for each other. It was beautiful to watch their relationship blossom! The amount of depth to these characters in such a short story is amazing! It’s one of my favorite things about Charity Parkerson’s books. I always feel connected to her characters. I can’t recommend this series enough!

Cortland and Driver can’t imagine a world without each other, but also can’t process the idea that they love each other romantically. They can’t limit themselves to just friendship and they can’t possibly be lovers because they each have unresolved personal trauma, so they exist in an intense relationship purgatory. After a well-meaning character in the previous book instigates Driver’s confession to Cortland, Cortland asks Driver for a no-strings-attached one-night-stand. Turbulent emotions continue to escalate when Cortland leaves for an extended vacation without a face-to-face goodbye immediately afterward.
The brief smut is an intense as the rest of the pair’s interactions, but the side characters introduced keep each main character more or less grounded even at the worst of times. The trauma Cortland endured as a teen isn’t processed on the page, but roughly explains some of his erratic, reactive behavior. Cortland comes off as flawed and a touch abusive to Driver at times, but at others is extremely forgiving and generous.
This isn’t the strongest book in the series, but does a good job establishing the dark and stormy “damaged” pairing in the universe.

“You are the only fucking thing holding my badly glued pieces together…without you I’d still spend my whole day trying to work up the nerve to end my life…without you, I’m nothing.”

Sugar Heart is the 7th installment to Charity Parkerson’s Sugar Daddies series, and while the other stories build off of each other, you could still read out of order. Not so with Sugar Heart! Cortland and Driver’s story has been hinted at and building with each book, and these two broken men find that together, they are perfectly imperfect.

Charity Parkerson is on my auto-buy list, and this is a must read series! Highly recommend!

I was so excited to get to Cortland's story but I ended up being a little disappointed. Both he and Driver are great characters and I was happy to see them wind up together but it felt like there was just so much missing. They had both been through so much but it was a little hard to connect with them and their emotional issues when the story never really went into any depth with their past. It made things seem a little jumbled and I spent too much time wondering about the whys of their personalities.

There were some very good sexy times and I always love seeing Wyld and Micah.

Cort and Driver

I mean, I didn’t hate it. But I didn’t love it. Both of these men are so broken they don’t feel like they deserve the other. They don’t want to saddle the other person with their issues..yadda. Yadda. YADDA.

I didn’t mind Cort. I wish he’d been more forthcoming with his past and issues. It would have certainly helped Driver and his own insecurities. Driver was a little angrier than I’d have liked, but he was otherwise okay.

Not a knockout for me, but not a total bust either.

Two hearts made whole

Both have issues and both men fell hard for the other. Driver was homeless and Cortland a personal assistant to Wyld. Micah, Wyld's husband is a do gooder who made sure Driver was fed everyday. When Cortland stepped in to help Micah, it was love at first sight. As Micah offers Driver a job, him and Cortland become everything to each other. It was a short but sweet...

So good!

How does she do it? Another amazing read with characters I want to hug even as I'm cheering for them. Driver being a veteran that was homeless was a perfect addition to the series plus it shows what can and has happened to a lot of our veterans. It's important for that to be shown. They and their loved ones sacrifice so much. Instead of being dropped, they should be embraced.

Good Read

This was a good read. The back story for each Driver and Cartland were extremely sad. I think this story could have gone from good to great with just a few more discussions of their pasts. Cartland never actually tells Driver of his past he learns it from a book store owner. I wish there been a face to face conversation and more comforting and soothing.

Still it was a good book and I’d recommend it.

Aaww, this book is amazing!

After standing on the outskirts of life, Courtlands and Driver can't stay away from each other any longer. Though It's difficult for both of them to truly find their way to each other. This story is beautiful as it brings them to recognize each other's hearts.

Finally! Driver's and Cortland's story.
I was waiting for this one! I liked it a lot. I don't love it, tho. I think the whole "not talking about my feelings" and the "I'm not good enough" took the best of me. It was evident they liked (and loved) each other a whole bunch... So why denying it? I was exhasperated the whole time!

And Cortland being a famous drawer was a huge shook! Where did that one come from? I liked it but I expected a bit more of intensity... And oh yeah! Learning more about Driver's real past. I can't help but long for more of these two... They were an interesting couple.

Ok, so, Tears

All the tears. I knew their story would make me cry. And charity didn’t disappoint.
Each man has a sad back story making them the men they are. But together they are stronger. And can brave the world together... or at least, put up with living with Wyld and Micah.

I adore this series

I've been waiting for Cortland and Driver's story since I read Wyld and Micah's. I love these books, but this is my new fave. It's sweet, a little sad and a lot steamy. Def read this book!
