He has a function.

And when there’s a chance to obtain information that may cure her, why would he risk everything to save her?

Okay, so we see this couple meet in the very first book and I’ve been DYING to see how they’d play out! It was worth the wait, solid sweet friends to lovers trope. To be fair Tu’ver has been my favorite character this far and this book cemented that.

The thought author Elin Wyn put into this storyline and world building is just immaculate! The fight scenes are incredible and I’m continuously impressed with the balance of spicy and story telling.

If you hadn't figured out that that Tu'ver had a thing for Mariella since book 1 (he carried her to the ship and kept close after she was injured, people!)...uhh, I don't know where I was going with this. Let's just say that Tu'ver and Mariella might not have been fully aware that they had a thing for one another, but everyone around them knew it. They just had to work through their own denial about them to get things moving.

Their biggest hurdle was (in my opinion), Mariella's desire to hide her illness from everyone. While part of me gets her reasoning, another part keeps thinking that sharing what's happening and getting feedback from others who might have different insight is the way to go. Yet she and Leena keep their illness secret and...I don't know. Don't really get far in their research to find a cure. Until someone overhears them talking and points them in a different direction.

Which, SURPRISE!, leads them to figuring things out.

As for Tu'ver, he drops everything to help her once the extent of her illness is uncovered. Which gets a thumbs up from me.

Good series

This is turning out to be a great series. I love that the female's are smart and fearless. The men are strong and protective. Great alien and human romance.

Tu’ver and Mariella

Mariella and her sister had always known they might die young, due to an unknown genetic inheritance.
After her sister found some information on their condition, Mariella, an archivist by training, starts digging, and finds some information that might just lead to a cure.
She asks Tu’ver, one of the aliens from the Vengeance, and Mariella’s friend, to take her to a place where they might just find some answers.
Tu’ver has always liked Mariella. His own past haunts him, and the things he has had to do in his fight against the Xathi make him feel like he doesn’t deserve to be with her. But the feelings between them won’t be denied.
Trying to find a cure, trying to fight the Xathi and find an effective weapon, the aliens and humans residing on the Vengeance have a lot on their minds. And now that Mariella has hope for her personal future.
This is the third book in the series, and as part of a continuity, it’s best read in order within the series. A sci-fi romance continuity series, each book has its own romance, and continues the overarching background (and often foreground) story, of the fight against a rampaging alien bug species, called the Xathi.
It’s an enjoyable, if dangerous world, and one in which the romance is more ‘happily for now’ rather than ‘happily ever after’ because of it.

Recommended for those who love sci-fi and sci-fi romance (with alien heroes).

Archivist Mariella knows that she is going to die young and had lost hope for a cure before the Xathi had invaded and so that sped up her timeline. He is determined to keep the Vengeance warriors in the friend zone even though one of them calls to her heart and sparks new desires in her. Alien Tu'ver and the rest of his K'ver people value logic and order above anything else. He has just one function - to fight with the crew and kill the Xathi in order to avenge his people. So he is confused at how drawn to Mariella he is. So when there is a chance to find some information that may cure her he risks everything in order to save her. In the war between logic and passion, there can be only one victor.

I enjoyed this story which looked at logical Tu'ver and Mariella and how they came together and how they were a good influence on each other (which was the same for all the other human/Vengeance crew member relationships). It was fun to see how he was challenged on his logic and order because passion and love don't always fit into that. Easy to read and understand. Contains some sexual content.

I received an ARC edition of this book from the author.

I recommend reading the previous books in the series before reading this story. There is a lot of background needed to appreciate this story.

I liked Tu'ver and Mariella together, they are a nice counter-balance to each other. Mariella has a very positive outlook on the world, despite facing a potentially fatal disease. Tu'ver is much more reserved, both from his military training and his tragic past. Mariella offers Tu'ver a certain peace and acceptance that he needs, while he offers her a companionship and protection that she needs. Although there are still some issues between them (some of them due to their own concerns about being what the other needs), their relationship had a more easy nature than the previous two.

The battle with the Xathi is taking a bit of a turn, both with another mysterious ship arriving and with the results of the Xathi's effects on some humans. It will be interesting to see how the battle progresses in the next book.

I absolutely adored Mariella, she was facing a terminal illness that nobody even knows what it is & yet she opens her heart to everyone, is kind and loving and just makes the most of her life. I enjoyed the relationship between her and her sister with the healing of the rift between them, each cane to a place of understanding the other more fully. Tu’ver was extraordinary & he is exactly the type I would fall for. His humour & gentleness despite everything he has faced in life is amazing and the way he is with Mariella compared to everyone else is just adorable, she softens him in ways that surprise all those that know him but the danger is still at their door and Mariella is just a tad accident prone which gives poor Tu’ver grey hairs, although honest heaven help me from men who think they have to be all self-sacrificing for the women they love.

The story is well written and the characters are rich and vibrant. Danger, excitement and a beautiful love story.

Let me start off by saying that this book has a truly unique plot. In 2000 books, I’ve read in my lifetime, I’ve never read anything like it. Having said that, most of the books did not have a lot of plot development. They happened every few books or so. The couples would meet and fall in love within 2 to 3 days and suddenly they’re all life partners which I find extremely hard to believe and doesn’t allow you to get to know the characters as fully as You could/should. So I hope she works on that. This book set could’ve been so much more than it was. As I previously mentioned, the plot was unique, and I would have loved to see more of it In all of the books. My chapter review is below. Negative means little to no plot development and plus equals plot development. And the plus and minus mean there was a little bit of plot development, but not a lot. Are you confused?

This is the third book in this series and i have to say that its my favorite. The reason i love this book so much is that Tu'ver underneath all the aloofness and calmness that he shows everyone is actually a passionate man/ alien with a witty sense of humour and it takes his love for Mari to unleash it.
Like the other two books this book is filled with nail biting action and suspense that had me entranced from the first page. Its been almost half a year since the Vengeance crashed and things are getting more intense as the crew find them selves faced with a new and deadly hybrid enemy and the appearance of a space craft has the crew and refugees all rattled and confused as their are no survivors on board.
I highly recommend the Conquered World books as they are well written and the character's are purely amazing!!!

This was the story I was waiting for. So many think Tu’ver has no emotion, but that just isn’t so. I LOVE his implants and the advantage it gives him. I was sad when it felt like Mariella was going to give up. I laughed at some of the comments Tu’ver made to her while battling things trying to kill them. Each story has gotten progressively better as the series continues. This alternate planet and the people are still small minded and prejudiced. Elin Wyn has a way with bringing the world to life in her words and I can imagine everything happening. It is so cool to see how these women have changed these battle-hardened warriors. They are still 100% bad warriors, but with a fun, loving side thanks to their mates. I volunteered to read an advanced reader copy and am under no obligation to leave this review.

Aww... And Oh... (≧◡≦) ♡

It was easy to know something was going on when Tu'ver carried injured Mariella from the caves to the ship. He checked on her progress and spent time with her daily, from book one to book two. I was happy to read their story.

I was disappointed when I felt Mariella was giving up. Duh! It's a book! Glad she took from Tu'ver's confidence. Now, the hybrids are a dilemma. I was hoping Leena and Mariella not only found a cure for their illness; but also for the hybrids. Even if the prejudiced people don't deserve it. Not all of them were small minded.

That said, I'm glad I followed up on my Kindle recommendations. This turned out to be a good series for me. Great, actually. And yes, it was easier to imagine rock creatures. Video games helped imagine that. Made for a dangerous and beautiful place. Wonder if any other characters will visit the caves again. Or Mari & Tu'ver. I keep thinking about the seismic activity and the gases in the caves. Now, I wonder what decisions the band of warriors will make, and how the war against the Xanthi (giant evil intelligent spiders) will end. (◕‿◕)

At first I thought thisnwas going to be a simple love story. It started out as just the H and h and getting to know eachother and heading out on a quest. There was some angst and action and a dash of steam but then it ramps up.
We've got some more depth to the plotline and more excitement....
There is some lovely descriptive scenes and some witty humour thrown in.
I'm glad the smart, sassy girls are turning out to be pretty indicative to the story.
The enemy is turning out to be nastier than i thought and a darker twist emerges, and I found this to be getting scary. The suspense is picking up and getting awesome .
Looking forward to the next book.
Thanks to Piers fir his great narration.

Ah, I've been so excited waiting on Tu'ver's story because I liked him so well in the other books and this book was so good. He and Mari are really the perfect match. Just when you think this story might not have the danger and excitement the other books had, you will be wrong. Tu'ver agrees to help Mari with a mission because Mari isn't one to take no for an answer, but it's not without risks. I just really got so absorbed into this book and I loved the ending! Hope

Best book so far in series. Loved the couple and how their relationship progressed slowly and with care. Liked getting more info about the aliens and how they were impacted by their common enemy.
Still not happy with the all aliens are the same storyline thread and how the last chapters are written. They end with the feeling that they are dating. With this book the only one that mentions forever hope and commitment to each other.

Enjoyable

Enjoyable, but only partially a stand-alone book. It was clear the reader was missing part of the story about why there were refugees filled with fear and how such a mixture of aliens were working together. So my advice is to start at the beginning of the series as the characters were interesting.

Love this series

I'm really enjoying this series and can't wait for the next book. I'm enjoying the stand alone stories and get still fascinated with the overall on going plot. The characters are fun and fully fleshed out. The work is fully developed I have seen a few typos but not so much that it pulls me from The story.

Sexy aliens

I like these books alot. While I am sure I could be persuaded to simply sit around and read them the world does intrude. The story lines are developed and go in intricate directions. Read on order as much as possible, the characters and stories overlap.

The Xanthi, a bug like race, are back at it again, finding more ways to conquer planets. They are evil, with no thought to whom they kill. This time they’ve fiendishly outdone themselves. Is this how they will eventually win?

Sweet love

The alien assassin met his march in the feisty, ever hopeful Marielle. The book is fun, full of humor and action. These scenes are perfectly arranged within the story to bring a reprieve from the mess that the aliens seem to creat. I loved it.

Very good. I really liked the story line of this book. Tu’ver had a very horrible past with his sister. And it really hurt his present but bringing Meri into his life really changes him for the better. But I think that love does that even to the most broken of people or aliens.

Loved it

Absolutely loved this book and the characters. Loved this romance with the characters growing together to make things work. Yet more bad aliens and now mutated humans to worry about. Definitely going to get the next one.

I liked Tu'ver a lot. I kept waiting for Mariella to discover he used to be an assassin or something and for her to turn away from him because of it, but this is just a great read.

Fun SFR

This book had a very sweet romance mixed in the overall series arc. As the series progresses, I am enjoying the plot twists and TBE interactions of the characters.
