The pulse-pounding conclusion to The Queen’s Consorts series is here!
Until now, my Graces and my guardians have been enough to get me through every trial I’ve faced—but not this time. This time is different. The Mad King is coming with an army to claim my throne, and he won’t stop until I’m dead.
To save my males and my court, I’ll need to forge new alliances—but will they answer my call for aid? Or are they just as likely to put my head on a pike as he is?
At least I’m not alone. Alaric, Finn, Kade, and Tiernan will stand at my side no matter what I decide to do. But as they teach me more about my Graces and how to wield them, I’m beginning to understand… unlocking the amount of power I’ll need to destroy the Mad King might just kill me.
SEDUCED BY POWER is the third and final installment in this medium-burn reverse harem fantasy romance. Read the series fans are calling ‘fast-paced & sexy as hell!’. Filled with irresistible Fae warriors, ancient magic, and non-stop action that’ll have you up all night turning the pages.
Elena lives in Canada with her husband, daughter, and their Siberian cat overlords. She writes dark, why-choose romances full of feisty heroines, unforgettable heroes, and their kindle-melting chemistry.
When she comes out of her writing cave, she can be found binge-watching true-crime shows, obsessively rearranging her bookshelves, or chasing the sun around the globe.
This series was so close to 5 stars! There were small things why I did not give it 5 stars though, for example the ending. I would have preferred a longer one, at the very least a more detailed explanation why she felt the queen of day court would be a good ruler. I understood her reluctance to rule but during the series she seemed to be very responsible and then suddenly... sorry, spoilers. Other than that it was great series with excellent relationship building.
This book was a fantastic ending to the series. Amazing characters, a good plot and action. A perfect ending. Can't wait to see what Lawson has in store next.
This one had the most errors of the three, forced sex scenes that felt like oh yeah I need to have them hook up, complete dropped aspects of the bonding ceremony that made no sense considering how important it was supposed to be, and an incredibly unsatisfying ending that included the making of three new enemies. Disappointing end to a trilogy.
Spoilers ahead.
Most disappointingly by the end of book three we still don't have any instances where Liana is getting to know any of the guys. There is one scene where she accidentally learns Tiernan was abused as a child through her bond, but that isn't because he tells her or she asks about him, its because his fear permeates through their bond. We don't know how he lost his parents, what his life was like before then, how he ended up leaving his uncle, what his life was like as part of the other royal court, how old he is, there is no depth.
For Finn and Kade what little we know about their past is from an internal mono-log as they meander around the town they grew up in and visit their own house. Again, all we know is they were, for some reason, shunned by their small village after they were orphaned. How old were they? How did they survive? What was it like being part of the horde? How old are they? And worst of all, we don't learn any of the little we know through Liana. She knows nothing about the twin other than their parents are dead, they lived in this town, and were part of the horde before joining her guard. Awesome relationship.
We know even less about her captain, his parents are dead, he has dragon blood but can't shift, found that out from the bad guy in the last book, and he was friends with Finn and Kade in the horde. We know nothing else. Does he have siblings? How did he grow up? How old is he?
Then we have the battle. Liana is supposed to be this all important descendant gifted with all these powers to defeat the great evil. She does a little healing, and smoke travel and that is it. What happened to her being this great weapon? And what about the Mad King? He has this terror inducing mental control power that doesn't come into play at all. He doesn't use it to get her troops to surrender or kill each other. His mental control is supposed to be their big obstacle to overcome, topping even the concerns of the 10,000 strong army the face, and it isn't even included. Then there is the stone that dampens their powers. How exactly is Liana able to carry the stone in her pocket without any adverse impact on her powers and then it fully blocks the Mad King's powers? And the retreat after the first battle, I'm no expert in war, but I know the other side doesn't just stop and hang out until the next scheduled battle when you retreat. There is zero reason why the Mad King's army wouldn't have pursued and decimated Liana, her guys, and her troops at the town they set up camp in. And while we are on that, they came out of that battle with 4/5th of the horde decimated. Anyone who managed to pass even one elementary history and math class would know that Liana's troops were decimated and that does not for a victory make. And if Liana was just going to give up her thrown essentially to the southern queen why didn't she do that in the first place, send her people south, and avoid the bloodshed? And if you want to argue she didn't give up her thrown, her dad is holing it for her, well ok, but that is illegal as is explicitly laid out in book one: men can't hold the thrown in her kingdom except for a very short interim period when the queen is otherwise engaged or not available. Running away to an island with no plans to return and abandoning her people after a war is a horrible ending.
We also never get an explanation as to why the alchemist decided to join and help the mad king, there is never any sort of comeuppance for the alchemist for their decimation of the dragon population, and I can't have been alone in thinking that once Liana joined with her four guys her people would regain their ability to shift to dragon form and would win the battle with the help of the south and their new dragon abilities.
All in all this was a disappointing effort on what was a good idea and could have been an amazing effort. I would much rather have to wait a few month and have a better written, developed, and edited story that maybe spans across more books if you want to keep each installment short but still get all of the necessary detail, character, story, and world building into the story, then have what was delivered. This feels more like the kid who was ok with getting a high C that almost made it to a B than a best effort. Disappointing.
This was a great ending to a fun series that is full of action which hooked me from book 1. The book focused mainly on preparing for the upcoming battle with the Mad King and the war itself. There was a lot of action, drama, edge of your seat moments, and moments where emotions ran high for me as a reader.
I was a little put off by Liana’s lack of reflection of her healer friend’s death from book 2. She frequently thought of Thana and her death and betrayal but rarely reflected on her first and only friend’s death. The loss of Arrow tugged on my heart strings too.
While I am glad that Liana and her men found their happy ending, I wasn’t thrilled or impressed with the ending. After everything Liana went through, she easily gave up what she defended so immensely to start a new and unknown adventure without any promise of return to her throne and kingdom... it’s just not what I was expecting and left me feeling somewhat unsatisfied.
Overall this series was incredibly fun to read and hooked me as soon as I read chapter 1 in the first book. They were somewhat quick to read but still full of plot and action.
5 stars for Seduced by Power by Elena Lawson. This is the third and final book in the Queen’s Consort series. What a truly fantastic ending. I was on edge, and that ending pushed me right over. Liana must face the Mad King, but will she survive. Her and her mates are getting ready for battle, trying to gather allies. (Don’t worry there are still some steamy moments.) I enjoyed how everything come together. Liana and her mates have grown, and their relationship is something everyone wants. The ending is left like there could be more stories to come. This was a great story and great work by Elena Lawson.
Oh my giddy aunt. I held my breath so often through this book because I literally forgot to breathe at parts - what kind of idiot forgets to breathe? Thank God for my asthma pump!
My nerves! I can't believe that's it, that it's done. I feel a bit dazed and depressed and incomplete. I have an eye tic and a bad book hangover for all the best reasons. What an epic ending! What am I supposed to do with myself now?
I recently discovered Elena because of a co-write she did with one of my favorite authors. It was so freaking amazing I decided to check out her solo work. This series was one that pulled you in with action from the start. They’re shorter than most books I gravitate toward but the story was so intriguing it didn’t bother me at all. Can’t wait to read more from her!
I'm always sad when the last book of a series comes along. This book really help tie up loose ends like I have never seen before. I literally was waiting for things to happen up until the very end, and the way the story was spun was well thought out. I think Liana was a great MC and I'll miss diving into her world.
Good conclusion to this trilogy. All the build up to the war with the mad king came to a head and all the loose ends tied up. The ending left off where another storyline could start after the war and maybe we will see more adventures in the future for Liana and her mates. Great trilogy, fantastic characters and intriguing and entertaining storyline with a great HEA.
Liana and her protectors/mates are getting ready for war in this one. There are great scenes with her mates that steams up the story. The war scenes are riveting and the story ends a bit differently than I thought it would. Only thing I would have liked to have read was more of Liana with the Day Queen. They seem like they could have been best friends.
Omg what an amazing end to a series loved every minute of it so much pain, loss and love. It was defo a tear jurker. I just hope there is more books in the future with liana and her men or even their kids and the queen of the day court. Would defo reccomend but would advise once u start u wont want to put it down
This has been an enjoyable trilogy, and it has been interesting watching Liana grow as a person and also grow in strength both physically and mentally. I’m hoping there will be another trilogy following Liana and her four warriors as they continue their travels.
Wow excitement overload... so much happens in this book, we get to see who the day court queen is and how the day court live its a surprise to liana and her men as they are not the savages they grew up believing they were. Lots of action love and sadness in this one.
Go Liana! I love when the FMC forges her own path and has such loving and supportive men on her side. There is excitement, war and some steamy scenes too! What’s not to love!
The final book does not disappoint. What an amazing look into the mystical Quuen of the Nightcourt. I love a happy ending. If you like fae then you won't want to miss this series.
I absolutely loved this series. It was such a great read I couldn’t put it down. I’m hoping for a spin off where we see where they all go and what happens with what was reviled at the end.
I absolutely loved this series. Liana and her men were amazing together. I’m so happy the way the story played out. Did I want it to end, no way especially after the little surprise at the end. Another great read by Elena Lawson.
(3.5 stars) An interesting end to the series. Final battles and magic and training. Quests and romance. It's all here. A little bit choppy but still a fun quick read!
What a beautiful way to end the trilogy. Maybe in the future the sweet ending could be expanded. I love seeing them move on with their lives. I hope they find peace.
Wow! What a wonderful third and final book. I loved the way Ms. Lawson ended this story. Liana was such a wonderful MC. I loved all the magic and the romance.
Wow awesome action scenes, moral dillemas. Ends really well i really enjoyed every page. Going to see if a chance of book 4. Totally got lost in their story 😀
