Knotty affairs by Chirag Bhagadia published by @bloomsburyindia is a perfect read for girls who always think after their family during the process of marriage. . Firstly the cover is just ❤️. The characters are well written and the overall plot is good. But if you think if this happens in real scenario than you will be dual mind. But nonetheless I enjoyed this read. . How during this union of marriage the couple thinks out of the box ideas to bring their families close. 3.5 🌟
Romances are hit or miss for me. But the blurb of this book sounded so refreshing in the genre, that I picked it up.
The book follows Akash, a dentist, who in the first part of the book falls for Kashish. The relationship doesn't take off because of the indifference of the families of the two. In the second part, Akash has moved on and has fallen for Aneri. She being a single child, doesn't want to stay away from her parents and the couple chooses for a live in relationship.
This blurb sounded so much more realistic in nature than any other books from this genre. The writing is simple and it's an easy read. Anyone can fly through it. Also the characters are realistic.
The cover of the book is so different and it does justice to the story. The message this book tries to convey is something that is needed.
However, I didn't feel very much connected to the characters. I felt like they didn't have real depth to them. This book is best for all types of readers. I think this book would be a great movie!!
I received a copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.
A book that was released at least a decade ahead of its times.
Knotty Affairs by Chirag Bagadia is the story of a man in search of a perfect life partner. And when he finds this particular life partner, he also finds out that just like him, she cannot stay away from her parents either. The book is a beautiful book that tries to break the age old traditions regarding marriages.
Filled with light humor, is a light book for you to pick up. Bagadia's thoughts on marriage are evident right from the prologue. I really liked the important topics he discussed throughout the book in the form of light humor. His focus on why is it okay for a girl to leave her home after marriage when boys get a choice whether they want to leave theirs or not was marvelous. It delights me to think that someone has finally said it—that it is not okay for a girl to leave everything behind and start a new life. And in Akash's words, "what if Alice never returned from the rabbit hole?" Well, the words were different but you know, this was the gist of it...
The book had an easy-to-read writing style and a rather comprehensible language. This 200 page book was funny and I ended up reading it in two straight sittings. Bagadia's plot was unique. It was of children overtly attached to their parents, of live-in relationships and of how some customs are better not followed.
Hence, other than the question of why women are the only ones who are supposed to leave their homes, this book also raised the question of why live-in relationships are not acceptable. Staying in such a relationship has more advantages than it has drawbacks. Even if two people are in love, they don't spend twenty four hours with each other. What if one of them is messy and the other a neat-freak? Such a relationship helps them understand whether they would be compatible with each other after marriage or not. It helps them understand of how they can manage their lives after marriage. Besides, it would be a real waste of money if the marriage doesn't work out. The book tries to give this message as well—that a live-in relation has more benefits than drawbacks.
Overall, it was a great read. The book tries to defy age-old traditions running in our society.
Starting from the Cover of the book is full of colors and the picture on the cover is gist of the story. The title of the book “Knoty Affairs” is about wedding connecting with two peoples and families. The title and cover is apt according to the plot. Two houses and dulha is coming to the nearby house, just makes you understand what’s coming up.
As the blurb of the book says a lot about the storyline and characters. It looks like a simple story but has a lots of complex inside which is good for the story. So our protagonist Akash Mehta, a dentist, comes from a Gujarati family and falls in love with his batchmate who is a Bengali, Kashish Banerjee. They make a decision to get this decision ahead with their family's blessings and happiness. But kashish's father, Mr. Banerjee, has some serious issue with the Gujarati and Bengali duo. The couple ends up on a happy note, but Akash has lost his faith on love and marriages. Then he meets Aneri, chosen by his family, which later on becomes an inseparable part of his life. But Aneri, is single child of her parents and doesn't wants to leave them alone after marriage. Akash suggests her for live-in relationship, which makes their family's life even more complicated. Will their idea work? Will the new generation break the taboo of society regarding marriage? Will succeed in their plans? Pick your copy and see what Knotty Affairs has to say. The language of the book is lucid and intact. Grammar and script is simple to read and understand. Simple language, not many fancy words, and story is in sync. Characters are well explained and blended with each other. Romance and break up is very simple and nicely described, will remind you about you love. Sometimes scenes are too much described, making it long and distracting from the flow. A social concept is raised in the book about mainstream marriage culture and youth ideology, which makes it interesting.
Sneak Peek- Aakash’s dad broke the silence, ‘All this doesn’t make much sense to me. We have heard of girls going to their in-laws’ place after marriage and, in some case, an odd guy living at his wife’s place. We also know that, very often, a married couple stays alone, without either set of parents. But this…this new suggestion about both sets of parents staying with the
I’ll recommend this book to all, who are interested in light and easy-going stories. It has a message and is made with a good attempt to change things in society.
Aakash and Kashish fell in love with each other at the start of their career. Though they wanted to start a relationship but not without their parents consent. As destiny had it they had to fall apart. But after some years Aakash got a second chance in love in the form of Aneri. This time he will leave no stone unturned to make it a happy ending. But are Aneri's terms viable? Will Aakash support her? Is it really possible to break the hundreds years of traditions of Indian marriages?
Review-
The plot and theme of the story is very strong. It is really commendable to write on such topic and break such stereotypes and traditions.
Book has very nicely depicted the dilemma of an Indian girl while she is getting married. Her confusion, her emotions, her priorities, her love everything is on stake and it changes instantly after getting married. It is highly empathetic and relate able.
But while you are writing with such a strong plot your whole story has to be upto the mark. I think it raises the right questions but failed to provide the realistic answers. The solutions or the ways with which protagonist deals with the situations is not realistic and viable.
The most disappointing thing in the whole book was the ending. I would not give you any spoilers but they tried so hard, used every possible trick in the book to attend a certain thing and then you just leave it the end.
The whole graph of the story is very up and down. In the starting its just feels like a love story then in the middle it takes its momentum and it becomes interesting but again the end disappoints.
I would still recommend this book because at least people will start asking questions about the old traditions of Indian marriage and be more empathetic towards Indian girls. But according to me I couldn't find my answers but it was entertaining enough to read.
Loving someone, losing your love and then giving love another chance. The story is about Akash, Kashish and Aneri. Akash and Kashish meet during their college years and fall for each other but unfortunately, their families don't approve of their relationship and that brings an end to this love story. Kashish leaves the country to pursue her dream of higher studies. Few years and Akash meets Aneri and feels strongly for her but in spite of liking Akash, Aneri is hesitant to take a leap of faith as she is worried to leave her aging parents alone. And then she comes out with a solution which is quite practical though may not be acceptable to Indian mindset. That is what makes the story KNOTTY. The book certainly has a strong and fresh plot. The writing style of author is simple and laced with humour. The first half is fast paced but story gets draggy towards the end. Mumbaiwalas can relate to the places described in the story well, others may find it boring. Characters are relatable. Akash is like any boy next door. The USP of the book is the plot and the solution the story offers. It is apt for the current social situation where families are nuclear and it is a tough decision for a girl to move to a new house leaving her parents on their own.
Knotty Affairs by Dr Chirag Bagadia is a book with three major characters Aakash, Kashish and Aneri. This story is full of drama and romance.
As the blurb suggests this book revolves around Aakash and his love life. The book is divided into two parts i.e. two stories. The first part is about Aakash and Kashish. It's full of drama like one would see on daily soaps. In the second part Aakash falls for Aneri. Read and find out more.
The writing style is easy and lucid. The title and cover do justice to the book. I didn't feel connected to the characters. The drama was too much to handle.
I would recommend it to beginners or people who love drama and romance. It was a one time read for me.
It's book breaking the norms and is definitely ahead of the times. This is the story that questions the old age traditions regarding marriages. The focus of the book lies on to why is it the girl who has to change everything after the marriage.
Aakash and Kashish fall in love and have a nice relationship. They want to take it further by marrying each other and grow old with their love. But the twist lies when both of them talk about how important their family is to them and how they can't leave them after marriage. The story moves forward with a lot of events where everybody is trying to make them understand and they being the stubborn selves.
It's filled with love, humor and family drama. The book is a witty take at Indian culture and it's swing towards the patriarchy. All of this has been talked about loud without letting you feel too weird. The writing style is amazing, keeping you engaged with its humor. It also makes your brain think of the issues he talks about.
This was a rather amazing light read with filled my day with smiles.
A story of a young dentist Akash, and the trials and tribulations he faces as he falls in love with Kashish, whose love story ends because of their families.
As years pass Aakash meets Aneri, a lawyer. And they come close to each other. Aneri being the single child, she doesn't want to leave her ageing parents on their own so that they decide to live-in.
How his first love ended? Will Akash and Aneri manage to get things oh their hands? Will their parents accept this?
I loved the characterization of Aakash as the characters are very well built making the storyline much more relatable and natural.
A land of countless customs, few things in India get bigger than a big fat wedding. A marriage is a celebration which brings families and friends together. However, for the bride her 'home' is now a strange place. Meet Aakash, a young dental intern, who falls in love with Kashish. However, what he doesn't know is that winning her heart was never going to be easy. Kashish is resolute-nothing, not even their budding romance, will come in the way of her devotion to her parents. Cut to four years later. Akash has fallen in love with Aneri, the only daughter of her parents. However, his father is clearly miffed by this development, and enlists the help of a psychologist friend to help Aakash. Furthermore, his father is also not surprised at the couple's request of entering into a live-in relationship before the marriage. But is Aakash ready to challenge the existing customs for his love? Is he prepared to go to any lengths to see that his love does not shed another tear? Take this tradition-defying journey with Aakash, Kashish and Aneri as they dare to delve deeper into the web of love and relationships. Warm up to their crazy antics which will leave you wondering-why can't this be my story?!
My review :-
We see and hear so many love stories in our everyday life which gets ended because of complications from families. Most times it's the complications arising due to traditions and some times it's just the lack of proper understanding. But this book Knotty affairs is one that has complicated love relationship which ends because of a different family issue.
The cover of the book is decent and the title is very good. The writing style of the author is very impressive and also the way the characters have been developed is one of the points to be noted. The story moves forward at a good pace and the writing is simple without much complicated words and makes it an easy read.
Coming to the story, most of it is given in the blurb. The simple humor in the story is a note worthy point and also the way the author has tried to bring out the social norms and outsmart it is commendable. Overall it's a good read and even better one for a beginner.
2019: 47 . 🍁 . Knotty Affairs Chirag Bagadia Bloomsbury India 2018. Pp- . Disappointed. 2 on 5. . Based in the city of dreams, Knotty Affairs is a story Aakash Mehta, a final year dental student. He falls in love with Kashish, who is from another caste. It's only a matter of time that their relationship comes crashing down, with their parents opposing. Cut to four years later, Aakash is in love again and this is one is to last. Only that he and his beloved Aneri has proposed an out of the box solution for all their doubts and fears, leaving their families and friends astounded. . . A disclaimer- My views on this book are not so promising. I had high hopes from this one but they all came shattering down within a few pages into it. With its ideas and themes, the story had such great potential to turn into something revolutionary. It could have been the new coming of age novel, to attract many readers, but it's sad to say - it's a big flop show. . From a casual writing style to unnecessary detailing, readers are bound to be discouraged. I know, I was. Unrealistic in its storyline, the characters seem to live in their own fairy tale, on their whims and fancies. The narration throws all reason and logic out of the window.
For one, the arguments presented in favour of the storyline are not so convincing. And when it comes to engaging readers with emotion- there's a drought. Supposed-to-be-funny just comes out as a bland narration, leaving us with a lot of 'bleh' moments. The only thing funny was the lightness they've addressed marriage with, as if it's a joke.
The narration, articulation, is not at all appealing. The only thing I liked about it was the title, the cover page, and the back-and-forth timeline (which, btw, also failed me at one point in the story).
Irrelevant, absurd, poorly presented and sometimes even contradictory, at the end, I just couldn't understand the point of the story. . . #bookstagramindia #bookstagrammer #bookstagram #bookstagrammer #review #bookreview #readdreamrepeat #blogger #bookblogger #delhibookstagrammer #indianblogger #igreads #delhiblogger #unitedbookstagram #delhibookstagramfam #delhifambam #bookishfeatures
This book is of a light genre, but it gives out a very important societal message. The times have changed, the way the young generation perceives everything is different than what has been carried forward till now, generation after generation, blindly in the name of legacy. The author, Chirag Bagadia, based his debut novel, Knotty Affairs on the lifelong traditions and customs about Indian Marriages, how the Bride has to leave her family and past life behind, to start a new one with the new family yet the Groom gets to choose whether he wants to stay with his family or not. It also touches the sensitive topic of live-in relationships trying to bring out the pros rather than blindly taking into consideration, just the cons of this concept.
Aakash, an intern dentist, falls in love with Kashish but they do not get the chance to enjoy their feelings for each other when a topic like marriage customs and traditions makes them fall apart, both of them not agreeing to leave their parents after marriage, let alone the girl.
After the disappointing failure of his relationship, four years down the lane and Aakash gets another chance to love and be loved. This time it's with another girl named Aneri, the only daughter of her parents. Being the single child, she doesn't want to leave her ageing parents on their own. Not just that, the couple also wishes to be in a live-in relationship which is a new concept for their parents.
The way the author has brought to light, such stereotypes, is commendable. It's about time, we spread awareness about such old traditions and also get updated with the changing times. Acceptance which the changing times is the key to a happy life, is what the story teaches.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book, could complete it in two sittings straight. If you're looking for a light, refreshing read, I'd definitely recommend this one as it not only is a light read, but also we learn something from it. Though the beginning was quite mainstream, the book gained momentum as the story unfolded. Overall, it was a fun read.
PLOT The story revolves around Aakash, a young dentist and Aneri, a young lawyer and the only child of her parents. During his internship, Aakash and his colleague, Kashish fall in love with each other but the parental difference come in their way and Kashish chooses to let go of her love in front of her love for her parents. Four years later, Aakash falls yet again in love with Aneri. Although Aneri too loves Aakash very much but she isn’t ready to leave her parents in isolation after marriage. And this is where the real story begins when both Akash and Aneri decide to keep both set of parents in the same home. TITLE The title to me is very fresh and urban and it instantly gives a feel of what to expect from the plot that revolves the around the ritualistic and complex affair of marriages in India. It also teaches us that marriage is an affair to be knotted in wisely as it can turn out to be heavenly or hellish depending on your better or sometimes worse half.
COVER The cover is simple yet beautiful. It has a nice light purple background on the top half and a dark purple half on the bottom half. We can see houses close by that are decorated with exotic lights. We can also see the dulha in his ‘ Dulhan hum le jayenge’ stance and the bride all set and ready to be taken with both sets of parents witnessing the affair. The sky is lit up with sparkles.
PAPERBACK QUALITY The finishing of the paperback is high end, the book length is 197 pages. The MRP of the book is 350 but its available at a price of 247 as the last time I checked on amazon.in.
WRITING STYLE Now coming to the writing style and here I must acknowledge that I didn’t feel at all that this was written by a debutant as the author’s writing sense is among the top authors in India. The language used is very simple, urban. I very much liked the instances where he has used the sentences in hindi like when the auto driver says to Aakash‘Saab jab tak aapka computer chaloo hoga tab takt oh college aa jayega’.
Overall, Knotty Affairs is an interesting read with a tint of social message
🎀 BOOK REVIEW 🎀 . BOOK: Knotty affairs AUTHOR: Chirag Bagadia . 🎀 DESCRIPTION: A land of countless customs, few things in India get bigger than a big fat wedding. As the name itself tells us what's the story is about. The book "Knooty Affairs" is a love story. The main protagonist is Aakash and the story revolves around him. I personally loved it. The title is very different and unique. It actually excited me to read the book. The book has a lot lot of drama as we always say in Indian marriage, it's not the relation between two people but two Families. This book very well proves it. . The narration is quite beautiful. Language, easy and lucid. The story is easily understandable. Characters are developed brilliantly and their names are choosen wisely. I loved the names of the Female characters a lot. The blurb is very simple as most of the story can be understood by just reading it. KNOTTY AFFAIRS is however, A heart-warming tale about friendship, love and family. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO THE ROMANCE LOVERS. . 🎀 MY RATINGS: 🌟🌟🌟🌠
If you have been in love and have felt a strong connection with someone, but you lose her because of irreconcilable differences between your families, and years pass by, with you thinking why it didn’t work and what you could have done to save that love, you will definitely strike a chord with #KnottyAffairs by Chirag Bagadia.
If one day, life throws you into a similar situation again – when you feel the same for another girl, and you want to leave no stone unturned to ensure you don’t relive the same heartbreak and catharsis – won't you fight tooth and nail for that second love? . #KnottyAffairs is a simple and relatable story of a young dentist, Akash, and the trials and tribulations he faces as he falls in love with Kashish. As things don’t turn out right between their families, the two lovers have no option but to part ways.
Cut to the future and Akash falls for a new prospective lover, Aneri, who shares in his ideologies. The two develop a strong bond and question the very tradition that tries to tear them apart. A book that defies societal norms, and gets you reevaluating your beliefs, watch out as Aneri comes up with a unique proposal -- one that benefits both the groom’s and the bride’s families.
Should the bride always leave her parents behind? What if she’s given a chance to continue taking care of them?
For a debut author, Dr Chirag Bagadia’s writing style is impressive and smooth and is peppered with a good dose of humour. The first half of the book is a total page-turner. The last quarter of the book felt like a short story stretched too long (there’s a high chance that you feel the book is heading towards a tried and tested path), but if you sit back and think about the emotions that the characters go through, to keep their relationship intact, this book will make you smile and relate.
even though romance is not my go-to genre, the blurb, as well as the cover, intrigued me to give this book a try. Sure enough, this story is indeed different from a generic love story. It is a modern and new take on the very concept of marriage in India.
The book started with a simple boy-meets-girl love story. But as we delve deeper, the story changes its course. We know very well that falling in love is never enough when it comes to an Indian family. When one talks about a marital tie, it involves all the members of both the respective families of the boy and the girl. After all that, as per tradition, the bride has to leave her parents’ house to move to a completely new household with the groom. Every girl can relate to the dilemma that the bride has to go through while making the decision of marriage due to this. The conflict that arises in the girl’s mind before committing to a marriage has been depicted nicely in the story.
I loved the concept that the book deals with. But I have to say, I was expecting a better story-line. I liked the first half better. I really liked the character of Kashish but I’m not sure how I feel about Aneri. Even though the problems were relatable, the solutions the characters came up with seemed childish and not very realistic.
I was really enjoying the story but unfortunately, it ultimately did not work well for me. Some events seemed totally unnecessary and the story dragged a bit due to this. Overall, the last half of the story could have been better.
All in all, it was a good but not the best read for me. But I will still recommend the book to everyone because it deals with an important topic and paves a new path. Especially it will be a good pick for the beginners because of the simple and smooth usage of words.
Knotty affairs by chirag bagadia is a contemporary novel based on wit and relationships

I had a great time reading this book! The concept around it was unique and executed well.
The language was easy going and lucid.
The writing style was good and engaging
The narration too was done quite well.
The plot of the book truly has a charm that keeps the reader engaged in reading it. The concepts touched upon in this book are way ahead of time & truly challenge the conventional norms of the Indian culture and society. The characters were very well developed. I could connect with the protagonist very well.
I Book has a pretty fast pace and it picks up pretty quickly.
Overall, this was a good, insightful, witty and an enjoyable read. Definitely recommend this one!
Knotty Affairs is the debut of Dr. Chirag Bagadia as an author. He has woven a plot around the typical Indian marriages and the not- so typical generation of today.
Akash Mehta, as a young dental intern, falls in love with Kashish. Both of them dream of a beautiful future together, but a turn of events shatters it all. Fast forward four years, Aakash is now running his own practice and his parents are trying hard to arrange for his perfect match. Through the entire set-up, he meets Aneri Doshi and falls in love with her. Both families are happy and bless the young couple, until one day they come home and suggest a live- in relationship. Unable to take this weird suggestion, Aakash's father books him with a psychiatrist, Vishakha. Now, before you think that this wasn't a deal big enough to consult a psychiatrist, I would suggest you to pick up the book and know the whole story. You will go on a hilarious and entertaining ride.
For a debut book, Bagadia's writing is pretty good and smooth. The plot is fast- paced and eventful, keeping the reader hooked. The story revolves around the theme of marriage and how in India, it is a larger than life event, involving families. I really like the way the author tried to think from a girl's point of you and present it. The book highlights the new thoughts of the new generation. But it also mentions how they still regard their parents and keep them in the loop. I like the freshness in the storyline and the attempt to make the reader think can accept novelty. Overall, it was a light, satisfactory but a one-time read.
Foreword : 'Knotty affairs' or was it supposed to be 'naughty affairs' :). Yes, the title is in keeping with the story to some extent and the cover is bright and somewhat related too. . . .
About the book: Aakash is a dentist. The first part of the book talks about his encounter with a fellow student Kashish Bannerjee. What ensues is of course love and talks of getting hitched. . . . However there is one small problem. Kashish loves her parents to the moon and back and cannot think of leaving them alone after the wedding. With no possible solution to this conundrum, Aakash and Kashish are forced to go separate ways. . . Enter Aneri, a lawyer and a family friend and once again love blossoms and a wedding is on the cards. And yet again, the same issue crops up..Aneri dotes on her parents does not want to leave them post wedding and proposes a solution. . . Her solution is that both set of parents and the newly weds stay together after the wedding.. What? How the....? A very shocking proposal, an even more shocking decision and a roller coaster of emotions and incidents. A thought provoking read in the Indian marriage context! . . .
Takeaway : Being a daughter and having had an arranged marriage, I can completely relate to the sentiments of the girls who don't want to leave their parents alone and lonely after their wedding. The proposal of both families staying together is indeed outrageous, though very bold thinking on the author's part

Knotty affairs by Chirag Bagadia discloses the mindset of contemporary women. It interrogate the customs and rituals which was proposed centuries back. It arises the question why only women?
Now coming to the blurb of the story. Aakash is a dental student, he falls in love with Kashish. She is a determined person and bonded with family. As she is very devotional to her parents, winning her heart is not an easy thing to do. Four years later Aakash fallen in love with another girl Aneri. She is a lawyer working in her father’s firm. She is a type of girl who analysis everything and always her first priority would be her parents. In account of that she suggested an idea to Aakash which is beyond the Indian customs. The couple requested to be in live – in relationship before their marriage. Live – in in the sense they both wanted their family to live under one shelter. Sounds crazy isn’t it?
How his first love adjourn? How Akash and Aneri will manage to get things in their favour? Will their parents accept this?
This book is a light ride. I liked the way how author embedded his thoughts in the book. I’m glad to know that there are few people who at least questions the customs and traditions than following it blindly. Development of the characters are solid. The writing style is simple. Pace goes with a flow. The plot is relatable to all the Indian girls. It clearly narrates how marriage changes a girl’s passion, wish, priority, love and emotions in overnight. On the whole this book is a package of humor and it also makes some sense. Beginners will enjoy this book.
"A daily soap opera" is the phrase which comes to my mind when I try to describe this book in words less than a sentence. In no way I want to take it to negative direction. Daily soaps are addictive at the end - aren't they. Yes, The story is actually apt for the base of some new TV series which could be enjoyed by all generations.
It's not a love story but a true family drama in all senses.. The writing and narration is smooth and writer was successful in gaining the interest just when I felt bored. There is a good mix of short twists and turns right till the very last page. The plot felt very much relatable and strike the right chord of current generation when it comes to aligning with their parents.
Being a girl whose own only brother is living abroad could relate to the whirlpool of various emotions portrayed in the story. I must mention that I and my husband have had the discussion of very much live-in relationship the novel is set around many times. Obviously, we expect the same amount or may be even more intense opposition from our parents if we ever need to get it in action.
What I Did Not Like: 1. The two halves: I know it seems strange, but I had issues with both halves of the book. The first half seemed exactly similar to "Two States by Chetan Bhagat" while the second half felt a bit dragged along. 2. Character of Kinjal: Since it was a family drama, I would have love to read more about Kinjal and her bonding with Akash - her brother.
Il Book Review ll Title : KNOTTY AFFAIRS Author : Chirag Bagadia Knotty Affairs by Dr. Chirag Bagadia, is a slow paced Indian family centric story where young dentist Aakash plays protagonist and story evolves around him. There are many customs comprise in our daily life but filtering out the good and push away the unimportant customs is own choice. Marriage is all about dragging not only two people closer also two families. But after family where boy is always have an option to stay at own parental house, on the other hand girl has to stay along with boy leaving own parents behind. This contradictory but long run custom seems worthless to Aakash and his wife Aneri. So they planned to drag both the family under same roof. Akash belongs to a family of four including supportive parents and sister Kinjal, while Aneri grows up in a very small family. Kashish Banerjee, Aakash's ex-gf has also important contribution. She loves Aakash but can't compromise her love for her parents who couldn't find Aakash's house suitable for her. The journey of breaking long run customs and set a family was not easy for Aakash and Aneri. The cover perfectly describes the story and very attractive to drag the readers. Being a dentists the author narrates a dentist's life excellently. But the pace of the story is bit slow, other than I really liked the story thoroughly and I would like to recommend my friends to go through. Rating : 3.5 out of 5 .
Marriage! What are the thoughts that come to your mind when you hear this word or read it somewhere? Well, marriage means different to different people. When I hear people say that marriage is not just about the two people getting married but it is about two families, two different sets of people coming together, I almost agree. Knotty affairs talks about various scenarios, instances and perspectives that come into picture with marriage.
Knotty Affairs is about Aakash, who is a dentist. He falls in love with Kashish but their story does not last long and it ends because of their families. Time flies and Aakash meets Aneri who is a lawyer. Do they fall in love and get married? I wouldn’t want to say anything about this, pick the book and find it out yourself. You will enjoy the read.
Let’s start with the cover of the book. If you have read my reviews before, you know I am a fan of all things bright and fancy. The cover of the book is bright and colourful and might make you interested to pick up the book. The story is fast paced, the language is lucid and easily understood by the reader. Plot is good and keeps you engaged. I love the twists that come up as the story proceeds.
If you love dramas, interesting stories about families, you will enjoy reading this book. It is a book about relationships, stronger emotional connects, love, traditions and a whole new perspective to the scene called ‘marriage’. You won’t regret picking up this book.
The protagonist Aakash, a dentist, falls love with Kashish. But their dreams of having a life together shattered because their parents could not accept inter-caste marriage. (A very big problem in India) After four years, Aakash meets Aneri through an arrange set-up. He feels a special connection towards her. But Aneri is the only child of her parents and she doesn't want to leave them alone after marriage. Aakash also doesn't want to lose his love once again. So, they decide a very unique set up in which they will live together with both families in a house. It's strange but isn't it what every girl wants even if it seems impossible. Book further describes how they manage to work out their plan, how they help their parents to bond with each other. Will they succeed or not? Honestly speaking, I wasn't having much expectations from the book while picking it. But the story is so fresh and unique that I really enjoyed reading it. The language is simple and interesting. A few dental references were made which I wasn't able to understand. But it was just for very few parts. Book gets little filmy at some points. But the way, Aakash understand a girl's perspective is very appreciable. If every boy starts thinking like this, then it would be really easy for girls. Cover of the book is not only beautiful but very aptly describes the plot of the story. I will really recommend reading this book.
The protagonist of the story is Akash, a dental intern who meets Kashish at an inter-college festival and falls in love with her. But it did not have a happy ending, due to family issues they had to break off their relation. After a few years Akash realizes he is in love with Aneri. Both them of decide to get into a live-in relationship before marriage thus breaking the stereotypes. Also as Aneri is the only daughter of her parents she doesn’t want to live them alone after marriage. Will Akash be able to make this relationship a success? Pickup the book to find out. The book is a breath of fresh air and way ahead of its time. It questions the norms of the Indian society where a girl has to leave her parents after marriage but a guy always gets a choice. It also speaks about live-in relationship which is considered a taboo topic. With lots of drama and a pinch of humour the book discusses age-old traditions which need to change with time. The writing style is beautiful and keeps you engaged for few hours. The story is fast paced and the language used is simple and easily understandable. With an amazing plot and well casted characters it doesn’t fail to impress you. There are lots of twists and turns which keeps you hooked till the last page. If you are looking for a fun breezy read for your next weekend then don’t forget to pick up this. I highly recommend it.
Knotty affairs by Dr. Chirag is a tale of love and drama which marks its uniqueness with the simple and lucid writing style. The male protagonist of the story is Akash, a young dentist who falls in love with a girl named Kashish. But luck not being on their side, they part ways when the stereotypes and differences and the fear of what society may think turn out to be a huge obstacle in their path of love. But soon, Akash meets Aneri and their love blossoms when they realise their similarity in interests and mindsets. With that, another journey of saving your love while getting above of all the societal norms begins. Starting with the cover, I absolutely loved it. It's so lively and creative, raising the expectations of a reader. Also, it goes really well with the title and the theme of the book. The story might seem like s regular romance and drama book from its blurb, but when you actually dive into the book, the reader can feel how the writer has brought in focus 'marriage' but in a new and fresh way. The tale is a fun read and leaves the reader satisfied with the ending.
If you're looking for a romantic drama with some twists, this book is definitely for you.
The cover looks just beautiful and perfect. It justifies the title and the story in true sense. It's just mesmerizing.
The title is good, so is the story, a unique one, I must say.
The blurb of the book describes the core of the story well, but didn't take into the funny timing the story actually has.
The story is based on strong characters like Akash, Kashish and Aneri. The love story of Akash and Kashish didn't got approved because of their cultural and perspective differences. But few years later, when Akash found himself in a similar situation, he chose to put in his best effort to make it work.
The character of Akash was quite relatable. as his character has been depicted very well given the dilemma he faces twice in his love life.
The language of the book is simple enough to connect with the readers.
The story is depicted very well by the author and it questions the practice of woman leaving their family behind after marriage, and tries to provide with a solution.
Read this book, to see whether the solution is feasible or not in real world.
Looking forward to read more from the author in future.

Review - This book is purely a full packed period family drama . It present the concept very well that in India marriage is not two individual but between two families . It shows that when you want take your relationship on different tangent , here family will take you on umpteenth tangent of questions and encounter .
Things which I didn't like in the book - Too much family drama sometimes make the book annoying because of the predictability of the story .
Overall the language and narration was very easy and make it a fluid fast paced read .
A Great Marriage Doesn’t Happen Because Of The Love In Beginning But How Well You Continue Building Love Untill The End.
