Caring for a new foster child while running a thriving day care should keep Terri Hayes more than occupied, but her heart longs for something more. She hungers for a family of her own, and at twenty-nine, she feels time ticking away. When a busted pipe floods her home, Steve Evans offers her the family’s basement apartment as a temporary solution.

Steve is widower, a father of two teenaged girls, and a successful writer. He is also the object of Terri’s secret affections. At least he was until a casual comment from him leads her to believe that he has all the family he’ll ever want.

Iris and Samantha Evans have set their sights on Terri as the perfect stepmother. Their matchmaking plans include equal parts of prayer and deception. Will their scheming result in the wedding of their dreams, or will the harsh confrontation between Steve and the parents of Terri’s foster child be an obstacle they can’t overcome?

Small-town Oklahoma and the friendships they produce are embedded in Sharon Srock’s heart. After spending her first fifteen years on the move, living in fourteen homes and attending thirteen schools, she landed in a tiny central Oklahoma community and made it her own. As someone who’s been blessed to be a part of the same hometown church for more than five decades, Sharon writes stories of hope built from her own unique perspective—stories that demonstrate a sisterhood formed not by blood but by heart, where ordinary women are able to do extraordinary things thanks to the friends who surround them and the faith that pulls them through. Sharon still lives in the middle of nowhere, Oklahoma, with her husband and three very large dogs. When she isn’t writing, she loves to read, cook, and travel. One of these days, she’s going to figure out how to do all three at the same time.

After adoring the first book, I was excited about this one. In the end, I was pretty disgusted.

1. I hated Steve Evans. I was supposed to love him, but he kept like "Oh, Terri can't fight me now, so I can kiss her." Excuse me? This makes him a jerk in my book. Such predatory and ungentlemanly behavior is unacceptable in my book.

2. I like Terri, but I wanted to sit her down and lecture her. She was like "Steve, and I aren't meant to be together" yet said nothing when he kisses her a few times. Who in the world views passionate kisses between a guy and a girl a possible act of "just friends"? Terri came across as either stupid or someone who was unwilling to stand on conviction.

Postive things: I liked seeing the characters from the first book again (well, at least a little). I might try the next book if I get it for free.

Okay...THIS is good Christian fiction.
I didn't look to see if "Terri" was a part of a series. Pffft... now that I look at the title I see that it is part of "The Women of the Valleyview" series. But it didn't feel like it starting in the middle of a story like serial novels sometimes do. Also, sometimes books in a series will have open endings in order to get you to read the next one. This one didn't. It was a complete story and ended very well. And by "very well" I mean... one of the best and things I've ever read. I laughed and cried at the same time over the last two words.
That being said…

Terry is a 29-year-old single woman who has a thriving childcare business in the house right next to her own. Never having been married she's beginning to wonder what God has in mind for her. She's dated a number of great guys, but none of them worked out to be husband material . The one she's interested in now, Steve, is a bit older and has had his own children. She overhears something causing her to believe Steve just might not "be the one". It sounded like he didn't want to have more children. She, on the other hand, never had any, so she's hoping to eventually be a mother. They are very good friends and seem to care for each other very much, but in her mind this has put a crimp in a possible future for her with Steve. However, friends and family alike seem to want to see them together, and that starts the plotting and maneuvering that often goes along with matchmaking.

The little girl on the cover is a foster daughter she's just recently taken in, who is sweet, and wins the hearts of everyone around her. A great deal of the story is about her and the parents from whom she was taken away.

I SO like this book. Most definitely a Christian book in every sense that it could be. There is true faith, there are true Christians seeking God's will, there is prayer, there is church, there's a call for someone to return to their faith, there is a true focus on God without it being overdone, in my opinion. Non-Christians might think it was overdone, but I loved it.

The characters in this book are all people I would want to be friends with. Their love and concern and desire for God's will for each other is a lovely thing. The dialogue is completely realistic and fun.

I'm delighted to have read a good book after a rash of not great books!

Obviously enjoyed book 1 enough to pay for book 2! I like Terri - she's single, feisty and independent ( reminds me a lot of myself in my younger days!). I like the fact that just because she's a Christian, doesn't mean she has perfect faith! It's good to see Christian characters in books who have doubts, and make mistakes, and have trouble trusting God with their hopes and dreams. And who are not afraid to go to God with questions and longings.

This was another nice read by Sharon Srock. She sure know how to capture relationships and the tensions within them. I liked to read about the persons who also were described in part 1 of the series.
However, this book was highly predictable, some characters a bit unlikeable (like Steve, I found him annoying and pushy, while I know the witer didn't intend him to be) and the story could have used a bit more spicing up.
Nevertheless, it was a lovely read, though not worth 4 stars in my opinion.

Terri owns a successful daycare and wants kids of her own. Steve is a best selling author that messed up with his ex wife and chose the wrong path to life when he was younger missing out on raising his 2 little girls. Things come together as only God could put in place. It gives you a positive view on foster families.
And how when we turn our lives around great things can happen.

Terri Hayes owns the most successful day care center in Valley View, but nearly 30 years of age she continues to pray for a family of her own. She loves her business, but her maternal instincts are strong and her biological clock is ticking. In the meantime has decided to take in foster children. With her home located right next to the day care center, convenience is a bonus. Having completed the classes in foster parenting and passing the home inspection Terri receives a late-night call to come and meet her first child, a distraught 3-year-old little girl named Kelsey. The following day she is met with a flooded house. Forced to leave the house because of water damage she is convinced to stay in the basement apartment at the home of friends. Not the situation she had hoped for but a workable solution, Terri joins Steve Evans and his family. Steve is a successful author who has overcome some very difficult obstacles in his own life. When his daughters were young he became addicted to drugs and was forced to leave his home. Presently living in Valley View with his two daughters and granddaughter he has found happiness and enjoys his quiet time writing. His daughters have devised a scheme to get their father to date Terri, especially since she is living right there under his nose. Terri isn't interested in a relationship with a man whose children are nearly grown and a grandchild in his life. With a child to care for, a business to run, and renovations to be done to her house Terri resists any attempts at dating Steve. Her Bible study group becomes involved by praying for Terri's needs as Terri waits for God to direct her path.

Sharon Srock has a wonderful talent for writing about relationships. This is the second book in the Women of Valley View series, and I enjoyed it every bit as much as I enjoyed the first book, Callie. Creating relationships based on Christian foundations, the author blends the lives of her characters in a delightful manner. Sharon's characters are well defined and likable, with human frailties that are true to life. Woven through the main story line are bits of humor that enhance some of the more serious issues that are ongoing. Friendships are also important components in Sharon's books. Sensitivity and compassion are important aspects that mirror Christian relationships, and this book excels in these areas. I'm looking forward to the opportunity of reading book 3!

Terri Hays runs a day care center, the most popular day care in Valley View, Oklahoma, at that. So why does she want the hassle of becoming a foster parent?

She's pushing thirty really hard, and she has no children of her own. No husband, and none on the horizon. Although she already has a wedding dress and a guy in mind--if Steve would only change his attitude about not wanting more kids. But he already has three daughters and a granddaughter, products of a failed marriage, and he seems to think raising kids is for young adults.

As a woman who loves children and longs for her own, this seems like a good solution, even knowing the children she'll be helping will only be hers on a temporary basis.

Little did she know (don't you hate that cliche'?) that the day she was approved, one frightened little girl would land in her lap that very night.

That evening Terri goes to a graduation party for her neighbor Steve Evan's daughter at the same time that a threatening, loud argument develops between a young father and mother. The police arrive, take the parents to jail, and take the three-year-old Kelsey to child protective services.

Which would be all right, but the plumbing in Terri's old house chooses that night to burst. It will take weeks to repair the damage. Steve has a downstairs apartment. A God-given solution, if you ask me, because it gives a chance for Steve and Terri to become better acquainted.

Ah, but the path of love runs every way but smooth, and it's beginning to look like Terri's old flame might ace out Steve.

Title: Terri

Terri Hays is a young woman looking for marriage and kids. At twenty-nine and still single she has already created a good life for herself. As she runs a child day care in the house next door she still has plans for expanding. After watching a show on foster care and praying long and hard, Terri comes to the conclusion that she should become a foster parent.
Steve Anderson, a successful author, has a good friendship with Terri. Terri even thought he might be the one until something he says leads her to believe he has no desire to have any more kids, with two older teenagers already from a previous marriage.
Sean and Ellie are a young struggling couple whose daughter ends up in the loving arms of Terri Hays through the foster care system.
This story is a wonderful love story. Love sinner and God, between man and woman, and child and parent. While reading this story I was reminded over and over how I need to put all of my faith in God and search for His will in all things.
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this novel. If you like romance, unexpected turn of events, and a story showing a God relationship with us broken vessels, you will love this book.

Terri is a single woman looking for "Mr. Right," and has been looking for him so long that she begins to go ahead with her plans in spite of not having found him, yet. There's someone on her mind, of course, but he has older children and a granddaughter, already, while Terri wants very much to have babies. So, she becomes a foster parent. In hopes that this will fulfill some of the desires of her heart whether she finds a husband, or not.

That's the premise. A lot of things happen to both thwart and encourage her, and one finds themselves reading to the last page just to see how everything turns out for everybody. It's a good read based on that alone. Very well-written, too. Ms. Srock brings people and place alive so vividly that you will actually recognize people you know there. Or at least wish you knew. But that isn't what makes it special.

What sets this book apart from most is the perspective. I might even go so far as to call it "the view." Like a movie running across the window of your mind, it gives you a front row seat to not only observe how Terri works out her problems, but how we can possibly apply those same methods to work on ours. Because that part of the story is real. Something you can take home with you.

Would I recommend the WOMEN OF VALLEY VIEW: TERRI? You bet. Because in my opinion, anytime you can walk away with something that valuable from an enjoyable piece of entertainment makes it priceless. Which is why I think everyone should meet the "Women of Valley View."

Terri Hayes is a single lady who runs a daycare center with a dream to have a family of her own. Through answer to prayer, she decides to become a foster parent. Terri wants to make a difference in the lives of the parents as well as the child.

Due to a major plumbing problem, Terri is forced out of her home while repairs are made. Steve Evans and his two daughters happily offer their basement apartment to her for as long as she needs.

While Terri and her foster child, Kelsey, are there, Steve's daughters plan many ways for Terri and Steve to be together. The problem is that Terri wants a man that desires the same as her, a child, or children, of their own. Terri believes that Steve doesn't want more than the kids he already has. Not surprising since his youngest is twelve years old.
Will these two end up together or follow different paths? With God's help, through prayer, the answers unfold.

The author, Sharon Srock, writes a heartwarming story about the ups and downs of the foster care system. Srock breathes life into her characters allowing her readers to feel the emotions each of them.
She has a wonderful way of showing how important it is to pray and praise God for all that He does.
My favorite quote by her character, Terri, is, "Some days I feel like I must be God's favorite, the way He blesses me."

If this book isn't on your to-read list, it should be.

A Heartwarming Read!

Terri is book two in the Women of Valley View Series. After reading Callie, book one, I didn't think book two could be as good. I was wrong. Terri is a book that touched my heart and I didn’t want it to end.

Terri has a passion for caring for children. She runs a very successful day care center. She is praying that someday God will bring a man into her life that loves and wants children as much as she does. In the meantime, Terri has decided to take in foster children to love and care for.

Steve is a well known writer with two children that he has recently reunited with. Perhaps a love interest is in his future?

Throughout this book the majority of the characters rely on God, faith, and love to get them through life’s challenges. God takes two broken lives and begins to work in their hearts. Will forgiveness and love be extended? Can the broken lives be mended?

This is a book you don’t want to miss. If you haven’t read Callie yet, I urge you to do so before reading Terri. However, I do believe you could read this book as a stand alone but it will be so much better getting acquainted with some previous characters from reading Callie.

I am looking forward to reading book three in this series.

Terri Hays is a young Christian woman looking for marriage and children. At twenty-nine she is still single. Terri has created a good life for herself. She is owner/operator of a child care center next door to her home with plans for expanding.

Terri while watching a special on the foster care system prays for guidance and feels a strong compulsion to become a foster parent.

Steve Anderson, a successful author, has a good friendship with Terri. Terri thought he was "The One". She even has a wedding dress in anticipation of his proposal. Then something Steve says leads her to believe he has no desire to have more children as he already has 2 teens from a failed marriage.

Sean and Ellie a struggling young couple whose daughter, Kelsey, is placed in foster care. Terri is accepted into the foster care system and looks forward to having children of her own to love. Three year old Kelsey is placed in the loving arms of Terri through the foster care system.

This is my first book to read by Ms. Srock but I will certainly be looking for the others in the series! I thoroughly enjoyed reading Terri and it held my attention until the very end. I received a free copy of the ebook version from www.bookfun.org, and while there were a few glitches in the editing for it, I am sure they were corrected by time the print version released. I love the cover and wish I had seen it before I read to get a picture of the characters in my mind.

Terri Hayes is a wonderful, big-hearted woman with a lot of love to go around. Because she has yet to have children of her own she felt led to become a foster parent. Steve Anderson, his family and various other friends rally around Terri as she faces various trials in her day-to-day life as a day care owner and new foster mom. At times funny but always heart-warming this story presents all sides of the foster care system. I loved how well the characters were developed and found myself wanting to get into the story and tell them exactly what I thought in certain situations. A very, easy read that touches on a difficult subject but still lets God's love shine through.

This was a very endearing story about Terri (who is 30), who very much wants to have a family of her own. She has even gone so far as to purchase her wedding dress and keeps it in her closet. Talk about being prepared. Anyway, things haven't worked out the way she would have liked so besides running her daycare business, she decides to become a foster parent. The little girl she gets is so cute but she comes from a couple of parents who are very young and have lost their way and are in a bit of trouble. I like how we get to become familiar with both of the families. Terri's house gets flooded (I was having some water problems in my house at the same time as reading this book, so I really felt her pain) and she stays at her friend Steve and his daughters' house while hers is getting repaired. The fun then begins. This is the second of a series, but it does give enough background information from the previous book to read as a stand alone. I do want to read the first book and I look forward to the other future books in this series. I received this book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion.

This was a very enjoyable book. The author did a good job with the interactions between characters. This is not the first book in this series, but it was very easy to read this book without having read the one before it. The author covers the sensitive issue of the foster care system well, highlighting a positive experience in this book while acknowledging some past hurtful experience with the system by one of the characters. The characters were well written and their growing relationship was very believable. I really enjoyed the ending to the story. It was not abrupt. It left me feeling like all the ends of the different situations in the story had been nicely tied up. I was provided with a free copy of this book from bookfun.org in exchange for my honest opinion.

Terri is a delightful story, the second book in Women of Valley View. The humor is great and the author had me bursting into laughter several times. The romance is delectable and I found myself sighing and rereading the sweet romance scenes between Terri and Steve. The storyline is so interesting, dealing with being a foster parent, and seeing the other side of the problem. The author doesn’t portray the parents whose child is taken away as bad people, but someone who needs help. This is just a minor part of the story but it shows how social services can help people get back on their feet and be better parents. I have several favorite quotes from this book and here is one I’ll share with you: “The workings of a woman’s brain have been a mystery since Eve.”

I received this book from www.bookfun.org in exchange for my honest opinion. Sharon has hit the mark again! I couldn't put it down! She pulls us into the lives of each character. Their struggles may be different yet the same to our own as we have lived life. It causes us to seek to improve our relationship with our Heavenly Father and also reinforces that we never walk alone nor fall too far to be picked back up by His Hands. It also humbles us to realize that we can never truly empathize with others unless we have walked in their shoes and our own trials do just that! I love that it is true to life and filled with scripture to encourage us. I am so looking forward to the next one!

What a wonderful story! Ms. Srock made me laugh and cry, and brought a smile to my face with the final words even though I was sad to be finished.

Terri and Steve are both wonderful characters, people I would love to have in my own circle of friends. We all really need a Steve in our lives, someone who knows when to speak the hard truths. And I think we all have a bit of Terri in us - fearing how hard it is to hear those truths. I love the way these two interact and their lives weave together.

The children are wonderful too, and such an integral part of the story, just like in real life.

I can't say enough good things about this story! Pick up a copy, you'll love it!

I loved this book about foster care because I have great memories of my parents taking in foster children. Terri loves children and enters foster care to make a difference in the lives of children even though she already runs a day care business. When she needs a place to live, Steve provides a basement apartment for her. His daughters and grandson add a lot of fun to the romance of the story. I was drawn into the story and could hardly stop reading. I even felt sorry for the parents of the foster child. I received this book from bookfun.org in return for my honest opinion. I would highly recommend it.

This is the first book I have read by Sharon Srock and I really enjoyed it. Terri is a heartwarming story centering around a woman who is approaching 30 and desiring a husband and children to call her own. As Terri begins to believe her friend Steve may be her happily ever, she soon realizes their dreams for the future may not be compatible. Terri becomes a foster mom to an adorable little girl and Steve steps in to help out-and here the fun begins.

The author does a wonderful job with character development and I would highly recommend this book to anyone looking for an endearing story of family and love.

I received the book for free through Goodreads First Reads. I was plesantly pleased by the characters and the storyline. It was so true-to-life right now. I know many christians though, and have never met anyone like the characters. They are almost too good to be true. I know they have their faults, so that makes them more realistic. My favorite part was when the "plan" the girls had turned on them in the end...it was awesome! Now I'll have to read the other books to catch up everything...a very good book!

This is the first book I read by this author but it will certainly not be my last. I have seen the good and bad sides of the foster care system from a medical standpoint. This book is very realistic in it's description of the emotional ups and downs the families and foster families goes through. There are so many wonderful foster care families. Thank you for the easy to read, funny at times, and loving in Christ story.

I had a hard time putting this book down. It was very good, and wholesome to read. Terri was a very normal woman, and it was easy to feel what she felt. I truly enjoyed reading about a family coming together and caring for people the way Steve and Terri did. The author did a great job with the way she portrayed this story. I can't wait to read more by this author.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Sharon Srock has a real talent for telling a sweet, engaging page-turning story. The challenges Ella and Sean faced are real today for far too many people, and Srock had me twisting my hair wondering and hoping. I, like his many fans, love Steve. Great male lead. He's flawed, but soooooo appealing. And Terri is your best friend from the start. I won this book and was more than pleasantly surprised. I'm ordering the first book today, and will eager await the third!

Terri is a single woman that owns a successful day care business and dreams of one day having her own family. One very big requirement of her future husband is that he want kids. Not so surprisingly, the current man she has her eyes on seems to be content with the ones he already has. Steve has 2 teen daughters and a granddaughter under his roof and is so grateful to God for blessing him with this. Terri decides to become a foster parent and a sweet little girl named Kelsey gets placed in her care. Her parents are very young and desperately need Gods help. A flooded home sends Terri and Kelsey into Steve’s basement apartment until the remodeling is done. The close living arrangement brings the adults closer together and makes Iris and Sam, Steve’s 2 daughters certain that Terri is just what’s missing in their family. They begin operation SETH to get them together to see how perfect they are together. Will Terri and Steve fall head over heels and live happily ever after? Will Kelsey and her parents be reunited? Find out in TERRI. If you enjoy romance, good foster care situations, a bit of meddling from some awesome teens, and great LOL moments and swoon worthy kiss/romantic scenes you will LOVE this!

I loved this book! Sharon writes similar stories to Karen Kingsbury meaning that they deal with real life scenarios in our modern times and follows the lives of a group of friends. Sharon has quickly became a new favorite author for me!
The whole process of Terri being a foster parent reminded me of what my own family went through when we got my youngest siblings. Our HEA was when they stayed with us forever but while reading TERRI, I hoped Kelsey could reunite with her parents because they really seem like great kids! The romance between Terri and Steve was SO GOOD! Their kiss scenes was also swoon worthy that I’m sure every woman reading would appreciate. Throughout the book you will how God is faithful with His promises and gives us the truly good things we need even when the process getting there is different from how YOU would’ve chosen. I will definitely be reading this again!

Written by Sharon Srock, Terri is the second book in the Women of Valley View series.

Terri, the main character in this book, has a passion for caring for children. This passion leads her to open up her own child daycare centre with the heritance she receives from her parents’ death. Her love for children also drives her to become a foster mother. However, reaching 30 years of age, Terri longs for a worthy God-fearing husband and children of her own.

This story really touched at my heart strings. I could relate to so much issues dealt with in this book. Young love, teenage pregnancy, addiction, involvement of social services and unquestioning reliance on God are all entwined to pack this book with a powerful punch. This is a great reminder that no matter how far we find ourselves away from God, He will always welcome us back. His forgiveness is overflowing. The biblical references in this book are very encouraging and it flows into the story making it easily relatable to our every day circumstances.

Highly recommended book – or rather series. Women of Valley View is packed with strong, motivated and God-fearing women. Makes for a refreshing read.

Terri by Sharon Srock
The Women of Valley View Series Book Two
Terri Hayes is the only single woman among her three friends. She has been praying for a husband and family of her own, but at twenty-nine she's decided to move forward. She is going to be a foster mom. The first day she's called to help a child...everything starts to happen. Thankfully God can take bad things and turn them into good ones.

Steve Evans had really messed up in life. After leaving his family for his drug habit...he has since become a Christian and been reunited with his two daughters and a grandbaby to boot. His life is so full...but he finds that he may have room for more.

The secondary story in this book is about the parents of the child that Terri is fostering. Their struggles as they have to choose to make changes so they can get their child back.
Loved this story and the first book; Callie, where the reader first meets Steve and his children.

I give this book 3.5 stars. It’s a good story with foster care being its primary focus. I loved that angle and the positive aspect this storyline presents. It gave me a different perspective on caseworkers who work tirelessly, not just for the child, but for the families in distress. I liked that foster care is portrayed as being messy and having to deal with medical situations and other problems that throw a wrench into well-laid plans.

Spiritual content is high, and I liked that the characters prayed and consulted the Lord before making decisions, not just quick prayers for rescue after they acted. Strong gospel presentation. The relationships seemed a little forced at times, but the daughters who were matchmaking were cute and had some fun ideas for trying to get their dad together with their friend. I loved the foster child. There’s something special about the innocence of toddlers.

Themes include friendship, communication, honesty, and the willingness to forgive and choose love over bearing grudges.

I really enjoyed reading about the situation in this book. Terri has always wanted to be a mom but, nearly 30 and not even in a relationship with a man, she can hear her biological clock ticking. She agrees to take a foster daughter on a temporary basis. When her house floods on the day she gets Kelsey, Terri makes the situation work, even with all the challenges. She goes to stay in an apartment in the home of a widower at her church and begins to see Steve and his two daughters in a different light.

I like the way this book shows how, in spite of many bad situations, keeping a foster child can allow the parents to straighten out their lives so they are able to raise their children properly. I also love how this book shows ordinary Christians who are determined to serve God in their community and with the help of friends in their local church.

Terri Hayes runs a daycare. Add a new foster daughter to the mix and a possible relationship and the story gets interesting. When a busted pipe floods her home, she finds temporary sanctuary in a basement apartment of single dad Steve Evans who is a widower, a father of two teenaged girls, and a successful writer. His life is full, but he wouldn’t mind exploring a romance with Terri. Iris and Samantha Evans want a stepmother and have set their sights on Terri. Their matchmaking includes equal parts of prayer and deception.

As a parent of many foster children and adoption of nine, this story drew me. I felt the pain of all concerned from the DSS to the child, the foster parent, then to the biological parents. Realistic and interesting characters.
