McKenzie Bishop is fresh out of the Army after getting wounded overseas. Estranged from his family, he decides to attend college as far away from home as possible; ending up at Buchanan State University, in Crescent Falls, Pennsylvania. He doesn’t know a soul there; so, it’s the perfect place to begin the next chapter in his life. After two weeks of immense boredom, loneliness, and his own form of alcohol therapy, he decides to pledge a fraternity, something he always wanted to do prior to joining the Army. Enter, Delta Iota Kappa, the animal house of BSU. Bishop is the oldest one in his pledge class and wary about what the pledging process will entail, but like everything else in his life prior, he fully commits. Everything goes smoothly until the night he’s arrested at a fraternity party. Faced with jail time or a Veterans Affairs substance abuse program, Bishop chooses the latter, and to his surprise, falls head over heels for his much older female counselor. He finds this elusive woman intriguing and suddenly, his sessions become about much more than learning how to overcome his addiction to alcohol.

Calling it at 71%/NR

It was free so I don't want to harsh on it too badly. Plus, this author made a YouTube vid during #CockyGate that cracked me the hell up, so I wanted to try his work and here we are.

It's not "bad" per se but I'm having trouble reconciling why this was categorized or marketed as a romance. The best relationship in it thus far is the one Bishop forms with his pledge brothers. I don't think fraternal love counts as romance but... *shrugs*

Don't get me wrong, there are ladies aplenty for former military Sgt. Bishop. He starts off with a girlfriend (Chelsea) who dumps him over his drinking. I'll come back to this. Once he gets to college he is immediately besotted with Ember who cusses like a sailor and refers to herself as a sociopath...

Except, as it turns out, it is! *uncomfortable laugh*

Bishop falls for her because of their "deep connection" which looked a whole like someone got fucked silly and mistook it for love but who am I to judge? Dude strikes me as fickle is all I'm saying.

Case in point, he beats a guy to a pulp and gets sent for substance abuse counseling and starts mad crushing on his therapist, who sucks by the way. I think the crushing was mostly induced because Ember ghosted him but whatevs.

The substance abuse counseling is a joke but he thinks Carleigh hung the moon mostly because he wants to fuck her, it seems. Does he even cut down on drinking while in mandated substance abuse counseling? Nope.

Granted, he is in the midst of pledging a fraternity which evidently can challenge anyone's liver. I will say I learned just how homoerotic the whole fraternity business is. Also, could someone explain to me what the difference between hazing and bullying is? Because it eludes me. I'm surprised one of these dipshits didn't die of alcohol poisoning or just general stupidity.

However, I did enjoy the bond that they formed as pledges and peripherally with Sarge who's a member already as well as gay. Hooray for inclusion!

I'm fairly certain that the dialogue is supposed to flesh out Bishop as a character. Lookit, I can drop a "fuck" faster than a Sarge's M5 can go from 0-60 mph but at a certain point they all started to sound exactly alike. I think my kindle would explode were I to ask it to calculate how many "fucks" and "shits" there are in this sucker. It's an insane amount. That coupled with the minutiae had me skimming and ultimately DNFing.

I may try something else of his in the future but for me this was more focused on brotherly love rather than romance. I did enjoy a male perspective but what little romance there was relied too heavily on telling rather than showing which isn't something that keeps my clicking finger clicking.

WORDS FOR THE SOUL

I'm not sure where to start my review. Do I start with saying I'm in love with Bishop? Or how the books grabs you and drags you through as you race to catch up with the author? Do I tell you that these characters hit you in the face hard and some you will love and others your jaw will tence up and your hands will automatically clench into fists cause you just want to punch them.

I'm not going into any detail because this is a road you need to travel yourself. Feel what you feel and experience it for yourself. For me though this book has touched my soul. This is the second book of his that he's done that with, the first being Thirty Days and now Bishop have once again brought me to my knees. Why is it that he does this to me, it's simple....its his PASSION he brought to the pages. They aren't just words it's his blood, sweat, and tears I feel on those pages as his INTRIGITY shines through and for that reason alone my soul is forever touched😍😍😍 and I thank you for that.

This is the first book I've read by this author. To be honest, I wanted to quit when I was 30% in and again at 50%. But I wanted to give it a fair shot. I'm glad I did. You see, I think I went in thinking this story was going down a path that I created and that was my fault.
This book has so many layers, it's hard to categorize it and put it in a neat box.
Bishop is a veteran wounded in combat. He decides to go to college. He seems to be searching for a similar camaraderie that he had while in the army but he's dealing with a new group of people and not all of them have good core values. He has to weed out the good from the bad, both in friendship and love.
Being older than the other fraternity pledges, Bishop becomes their mentor. He's not afraid to stand up for what he thinks is right and also shows compassion for the ones that aren't able to stand up for themselves.
Bishop also has his personal demons and, after a series of unfortunate events, he's able to finally have some clarity.
This story isn't "pretty" but it turned out to be pretty damn good.

Bishop is a must read account of a military veteran’s struggles to adjust to life after his plan for life-long service is cut short by an injury received in combat.

The story includes characters and situations that will make you laugh, sometimes cry, and at times even make you angry, but they all help Bishop to determine what direction to go with his life.

I especially enjoy a story that gives me characters with who I can connect, and BT Urruela definitely provides them in Bishop ~ they have personalities like someone you may know, or someone you’d want to know.

Bishop is a definitely MUST READ from BT Urruela!!!

If you are new to BT’s work, start with this novel ~ when you finish, you’ll find yourself wanting more from this very talented writer.

BISHOP has to be one of my most favorite reads-EVER!

It has everything you could want in it-raw honesty, angst, vulnerable emotions, hot as heck sex, a twisty plot and characters that will forever stay with you!

BT’s work is always amazing, but this novel here, is one of his best works yet! The story plays out like a movie and I can still see and hear all of on replay in my head. I love the emotions and the raw honesty in here-the honesty about things nobody takes about, the taboos of society and our own inner struggles that no one seems to be brave enough to discuss aloud. This author does that, he shows you the truth, the reality-the hilarious parts, the sexy parts, the depressing parts, the painful parts... but more importantly, he shows us his heart that he put into this work.

Bishop is forever one of my favorite characters to date. His personality, his struggles, his scars inside and out… it touches you because you feel that connection to the character, you feel connected to Bishop because of how human he is. And you don’t just feel that connection to the character but to the author as well with his unique and wonderful style- it’s as if he’s created this story just for you and is sitting next to you on a park bench telling you an intimate story.

I absolutely loved this novel for all it was and represents- for the connection, for the honesty, for the things it reminded me of and made me felt. THANK YOU FOR A BRILLANT READ!

The side characters as well were amazing, they stole the show and added something wonderful to this story that not many others can do fluidly or successfully. I want more of them and more of Bishop. That ending was everything!

This is an absolutely stunning read that will forever stick with me. A MUST READ FOR EVERYONE!
To the author-thank you for writing about the real and raw truth that others are afraid to speak about. Thank you as always for making me feel less alone with the characters you create and the worlds you set up as you tell us an amazing stories.

**P.S. **
Ladies, y’all gonna need your man or some batteries because hot dang this book get steamy as heck!!!!

Just when you think "Bishop" can't get any better BT Urruela revamps the book and turns it into a masterpiece. "Bishop" is raw and will but you through all the emotions from crying, laughing to leaving you stunned. This book is about friendship, sacrifice and loyalty and sends a clear message to not take friends and life for granted. Transitioning from Military Life into Civilian Life is a struggle for many soldiers. PTSD is not uncommon amongst soldiers and when somebody deals with wounds sustained in combat the struggle is even higher. Veterans often have to rely on each other to cope when push comes to shove. "Bishop" is an eye opener in so many ways. This book touches subjects a lot of people struggle talking about including hazing on college campuses across the country. Of course there are many laughs in this book also, especially when it comes to JD. There is no filter and his dialogues will leave you in stitches. There is also a healthy dose of romance with Ember and Carleigh and the story gets quite steamy.

BT Urruela is truly a gifted and versitale author and knows how to keep a reader engaged in a story and bring out every emotion. I've been following him as a reader since his first book and was never disappointed. His writing has evolved with every new book he released and he pours his heart into every story. "Bishop" is no different. Re-releasing this book really shows how much of a perfectionist he is as a writer when telling a story. This book is a must have and must read. Incredible!

Not exactly a coming of age story, maybe more of a coming home. Bishop's story is not a pretty story, it has its highs and lows, its friends and enemies, as he tries to find his fit into a world he now has to live in. His military career is cut short , he's left injured and alone, his milatary brother moving on while he's facing a different way of life. He joins a fraternity, seeking a connection he's missing from the Army, where we watch friendships nurture into brothers with a whole lot of partying. Great story telling of campus life along with characters that steal the scenes. A real great read! Very heart felt writing, 💔Mac.

Wow, just wow! This author has the ability to draw you in to every story he writes. His words take you through a whole gamut of emotion and this revamped Bishop is just......!! I have laughed, I have cried and everything in between.
Bishop is struggling to find his fit after being injured in action and being medically discharged from the army. Joining a Fraternity may give him the brotherhood he misses but he gets so much more. But through it all, his struggles and fights, his integrity and the loyalty to his friends holds firm.
And after reading the 'after word' at the end, I messaged my bestie who I haven't spoken to for awhile. Read the book and you will understand.

This is the first full-length novel I’ve read by BT Urruela and just wow! Now I know what everyone else was talking about when they praised his books and his writing. Loved Bishop and seeing his growth. From the beginning to the very last page, I was hooked. And knowing just how true this story really is just makes it that much the better and I can only commend Mr. Urruela for being so raw and honest and real with us, always. Going to go back now and read Mr. Urruela’s previous works while I eagerly anticipate Sarge’s book. Also - bananas: ruined forever now.

I laughed. I cried. I raged. And I seriously wanted to punch some folks in their faces.

Bishop gives us a look into his world where he has lost his eye and his path in life. He never thought to think "What happens when I leave the Army"? But now that he's been discharged what does he do with his life? Where does he find a purpose, another band of brothers, a sense of what and who he is?

I've always known to enlist takes a special person but never thought....what happens after? I know that just because they no longer wear the uniform it doesn't mean their ideals and sense of duty just ends. But even with my uncle's example I never realized how difficult that transition to being a mere civilian can be. Bishop leads us through the mess that is his mind, his guilt and his demons.

Pledging a fraternity would never have occurred to me as a solution but from what you hear you join a frat and it becomes a lifelong brotherhood of sorts. This one seemed a little more out of control than what you usually hear but some of what goes on, yea you've heard those stories. Pledges, Hell Week and some things that are going to make your stomach churn in disgust....and I am not talking about the Wheel of Chance. All I will say is, you too will want to punch Brady's lights out!

The way he ended up in therapy wasn't the greatest but was glad to see him giving it a chance. Okay so she was a cougar that he really had the hots for but even so, it made him willing to open up and start to look at things from a different angle and question, why? Dr. Carleigh Jacobs, you give women and therapist a bad name....for a educated woman my goodness you are such a dumbass. Sorry but once you read it you'll understand.

His pledge brothers- Jeremy, Mac and Carter.....oh they are too funny. Just goes to prove that different backgrounds and cultures doesn't mean you can form tight friendships. Sarge....oh goodness, I love Sarge. And once BT explained the inspiration behind him...you love him more. JD, the Ragin' Redneck, he's so off the wall you can't help but be entertained by him. Or grossed out depending on his topic of conversation. Some of the other Frat brothers I had to wonder how the hell they got into positions of power within the Frat. No leadership skills. No moral compass. Just a bunch of horny 20-somethings out to party and get laid.

The ending....out of extreme hurt something good can grow. It took that big push to get their heads on straight but in my head their lives went on to bigger and better things. That's how I know I just read a good book. When the characters became so real I imagine their life after the last page.

Oh man!

I’m totally and utterly mind blown by this book.

Thank you BT Urruela for this incredible, deep and touching story. Had real pleasure reading it and definitely will be recommending it to others.

I was so curious to read a romance novel written by a male author and I can tell you I loved every bit of this book. It was funny, it was deep, it was sad, it was emotional, it was sexy and swoony, it touched many topics we hear happening in real life, maybe even next door to you, which in return made this book really relatable and lovable.

The story plot was paced perfectly and with enough twists and turns to get reader turning those pages. The characters are developed to perfection and not even once I felt that the author changed their personalities to fit the plot. And it’s one of the most important things when I read the book when it comes to characters' development. They stayed true to themselves throughout the book making you feel like you just made another friend.

BT Urruela possesses an amazing writing style and story telling skills, he made me feel, taste, smell and see the actual events. Regardless of the serious topics touched in the book reading this story was easy and addicting. The author has an amazing sense of humor and I really enjoyed all the camaraderie and banter between those young man we meet in this book and we get to see their friendship and bond growing through thick and thin.

Bishop is not an ordinary guy, he is a guy that any woman could dream about.

"I'm not your normal almost twenty-six-year-old. I don't just fuck around. I like connecting with another. I like experiencing someone fully. I like passion and seduction."

He is an army veteran who after injury tries to adapt as best he can to civilian life and to find his new purpose and goal in life. Having no family to turn to or friends to rely on he moves to a new place, enrols in college and does his best to figure out who he really is and who he wants to become. Meeting some good and bad people along the way we are taken on Bishop journey and we get to know the honest and loyal guy whose personality was shaped by past and current events in his life.

This story got me sucked from the beginning to the end and left me long thinking about how many lives are affected by war and how many amazing people we lost to date...

Totally exceptional and grabbing story and a must read book.

Beyond incredible!

This is not just any novel...This is a story about friendship, sacrifice and loyalty. I went through all the emotions reading Bishop. I laughed, cried and was in awwww. I fell in love with each character, except for Brady, I wanna choke his arrogant ass lol. I'm taking a lot with me from reading this book twice already since its release. The biggest message I took away is not to take friendships for granted. Friends come and go but true friends will be there for you no matter the distance or time. Reading about the struggles of Bishop from Army to Civilian life and dealing with combat injuries, PTSD and trying to adapt is eye opening. These days we take a lot of things for granted and we often forget to cherish the little things in life that make us happy. One subject that is quite hard to swallow is what's going on in colleges these days from hazing to sexual assault. It's a problem that is not addressed properly and often just put on the backburner by college authorities. The pledging process in this book is not uncommon and scary. Excessive hazing and demeaning another human being is not right but yet has become a part of life these days. Bishop stands up more than once to the fraternity about their practices and it made me cheer every time. Let's not forget about Ember and Carleigh. Omg that's when the book gets steamy. I had to stop a few times because I got a bit flushes. Carleigh is just this wild cougar and knows what she wants in bed...super hot!
I have read every single book of BT Urruela and was never disappointed. Every time I finish a book I always say that there is no way to top it and yet he does every single time. I will read Bishop again and so looking forward to the next book.

Bishop by BT Urruela was a fantastic read from cover to cover. This was a must read for me on release day and I immediately one-clicked Bishop. Bishop was an incredible blend of humor, grit, friendships, life lessons and sex. It was real! Okay, some things may have been over the top (in a good way) and may not happen on a daily basis – but totally relatable and realistic! The characters were epic and the banter back and forth between them was priceless. JD was such a hoot and had me laughing so hard that it gave me the feeling like I just did 100 crunches. No lie, I felt like it was a work out from the laughter. JD’s references had me in tears! From boy bands, Molly Ringwald to naming every red head imaginable… I was in a fit of laughter that had me having to explain myself “the book” not once, but three times to people wondering what was so mind-grabbing and hilarious. The humor may not be to everyone's liking, but to me - genius! my thumb and index finger pinched together in the classic Italian "perfect/perfetto" hand gesture)

While it did indeed had tons of impressive humor, it also had some hot scenes that could surely curl your toes and make you look around wondering just how red in the face you are. Those parts were amusing and attention grabbing in its own right. I can think of a few that are easily worthy of bookmarking for future read through.

So, if you like a military gone frat read that has the ability to take you through several emotions and many bouts of laughter – read Bishop!

This is not the “grab a glass of wine” kind of read.. so, grab some whiskey and dive in!

Wow, just wow. I’m not sure I have the words to describe how I felt after finishing Bishop last night. There were parts of this book that made me laugh, made me cry, made me fan myself, made me mad and made me want to throw my kindle.

In Bishop, BT takes you on one man’s journey from being discharged from the military after an injury to starting school in a town far away from his home to pledging a frat and the aftermath of his first year in college. Through each step of the story, you see how events both current and past have molded the man that Bishop is and who he becomes. You see how the men and women that come into his life have a profound effect on him both in a good way and in a bad way.

BT Urruela has a gift for delivering an emotional punch like no other author I’ve read in the last few years. His words always ring true to his characters and you can see how much of himself he lays bare on the pages. You can see parts of yourself in the characters he’s created. You can see yourself in the relationships that the main character has with their friends. You can see yourself in the main characters fears, insecurities and tragedies. You can also see yourself laughing along with them during those scenes that have you holding your sides and wiping away tears. All in all, he weaves a story that tugs at your heartstrings and leaves you wrecked.

Bishop is a must read and is definitely on my “to be read again” list.

This story was about the character finding himself after losing the career he expected to be in for a lot longer than circumstances allowed. Feeling lost, anxious and alone he tries something else, only that doesn't seem to be enough. Nightmares and loneliness drive him to find the camaraderie that he had while serving, he turns to joining a Frat. Now I understand his reasoning and need, I also understand where the author was coming from with this and the events and subject matter that follows, my trouble is being an older reader I just couldn't get my head around putting up with the crap these people go through to join something that appears to me to be just about drinking and partying for the most part. The pledges did so some studying in the house and yes they became close friends and supported each other to a certain degree which was the main aim for our character, but the drinking really didn't do any of them any favours in the end. I think maybe I am just a little older and never having been to university I haven't had experience of this sort of thing to really get the wanting to be a part of something like this. Fortunately as the book progressed towards the end it started to become more clear what the author was trying to say and in the end i got it. I appreciate the work put into this by the author and the meanings behind it but for me it didn't make it a 5 star read, my concentration didn't hold for the most part sadly. Overall it is good but not fantastic.

You really just need to read it for yourself...

It's not very often that I wait a full week before posting a review for a book due to the author's words resonating deep within me. This book, is one of those. Maybe it had a deeper meaning and impact as I myself am a veteran and know the difficult struggle transitioning to college life in my mid-late twenties. Or maybe it was the fact that I too deal with PTSD and other issues like to Bishop's. Or that the Bishop's values, integrity, loyalty and character as a whole mirror my own. Whatever it was, this book rocked me to the core.

Transitioning back to civilian life after getting out of the military can be difficult for anyone. For McKenzie Bishop, medical retirement meant that transition was happening much sooner than expected. In hopes to keep some semblance to his life, Bishop enrolls in a University away from everything that reminds him of his past. It's at Buchanan State University, where he learns about Delta Iota Kappa (DIK). Beer, women, and brotherhood, this frat has it all. Pledging to the frat can be a daunting task, but Bishop is not one to quit.

I've read every one of BT Urruela's published works and he never ceases to amaze me. Each novel adds depth, attention to detail, and character development. This novel was by far his greatest work. You could tell how much of himself he put into it. I believe that is what made it such an exceptional read. While most will read this book and rave about the amazing sex scenes (yes they were amazing), or who they laughed hysterically at JDs jokes, this book took on another level for me. I did quite a bit of self reflection while reading it. I questioned my friendships, my values, my goals in life, my relationships with people in general. As I said, this book rocked me to the core.

I finished reading Bishop a couple of hours ago and had to order my thoughts and process my feelings before I could write this review. Parts of the book made me laugh out loud, made me angry, made me cheer, made me ugly-cry, and even made my heart pound with the sexy, fun times. BT poured his heart and soul into his latest book, incorporating his own life experiences, making his characters more human and relatable.
On the surface, Bishop is the story of a man transitioning from an injury-shortened career in the military into civilian life, but at its heart, it is so much more. How we all crave/desire a sense of belonging, how we need to make some sense of our lives, and how true friends can save us, sometimes even from ourselves.
Bishop is ultimately one man's journey through self-discovery and learning that what you think may be right for you might not fit as well as you expected and that it takes a different kind of courage to forge a new path and follow a new dream.
The world that BT created is totally engrossing, believable, affected me profoundly (I will never think of bananas quite the same anymore), and I cannot wait for his future books continuing the story following the supporting cast from Bishop. A MUST-READ book!

This story is raw, but it gets the job done. And by job, I mean making me sniffle like a little baby every time things go south in the story. I fell in love with Bishop early on. He’s combat wounded. Just out of the military. Looking forward to spending more time with his girlfriend, and things don’t quite work out as he planned. He signs up for college & joins a fraternity where he doesn’t know anyone, and, shenanigans. Probably not the best place for someone coping with transitioning back into civilian life, but it’s fun to see him let loose even while it’s obvious he is struggling to deal with the losses he has had in his life. Some of it is hard to read, because he has already suffered so much. Bishop has everything we want in a character: honor, loyalty, strength, tenacity. He’s damaged and struggling to keep it together, but that doesn’t keep him from doing what is right when it’s needed. I’m glad he finally finds his way, and can’t wait to read more by BT. The writing is, as always, perfect. I love Ember. She is exactly what he needs, and the chemistry between them is amazing. Great read!

Every thing you want in a complete story. Must read!

Wow, this is BT's best work to date!
I may have fallen in love with Bishop. He's the ultimate book boyfriend without trying to be. Bishop is naturally alpha, he feels deeply, loves his friends with his whole heart, he's fiercely loyal to those he cares about and knows his way around a woman's body.
We follow Bishop through his first semester of college after being wounded in combat while serving in the Army. He struggling with be a civilian, trying to figure out who he is and where he belongs. He meets a hell of a crew along the way some will make you laugh out loud, some you'll love others you may want to punch in the face. No matter how you feel about the character they all have a reason to be a part of story and make the truly incredible book it is.
I was completely engaged in the story from start to finish. They're are none of those skim of chapters that seem to happen to often. I didn't just read this book, I felt the emotions BT poured into this book.
This is one I'll read again and again.

Well this one has taken me some time to get through, not because I didn't enjoy it, but because I wanted to make sure to take in the story and details of the book. I had read the short in the Frat Chronicles and knew I need to know what happens with the new pledges for the DIK fraternity.

Well I was not disappointed at all! I loved this story and hope there are more to come from some of the characters. I would love to see either a back story or continuation of their stories within the fraternity or beyond. This one had me laughing, about in tears and ready to throw my Kindle, but just so you know it was not harmed in any way.

All I can say is you are in for a ride with this one and hope you take a chance and read it and determine for yourself. I don't usually like to say much about a story as to give to much away and you can't alway judge a review by the book. We all have different opinions and you should follow your heart. I will always be a reader of this authors works in the future.

An incredible story about a decorated war Veteran who is floundering in civilian life but eventually finds his path.

Bishop is complicated. A good man but plagued by memories of war and loss. He suffers from anxiety around large groups. He drinks too much. However, he is honorable, loyal and lives by the ARMY code of integrity.

After a horrible explosion that leaves Bishop with facial scars, a long recovery at Walter Reed, he is now a civilian. Not sure what to do with his life, he enrolls in college. Missing that feeling of comraderie and brotherhood leads him to pledge a fraternity.

This is Bishop’s story of finding his own way and it’s not without pitfalls. There’s women, which leads to some super hot sex, a run in with law enforcement, lust, loss, friendship and finally a path for the future.

This story hits on so many relevant topics of today. It really was an incredible journey; watching Bishop find his way kept me up late into the night.

An exceptionally well written book with crazy, funny antics, Bishop had my full attention. There were topics and actions that raised my eyebrows and had me cheering Bishop on (while shaking my head). I fell in love with cast of characters and, quite frankly, felt like I knew them.

The military and their brotherhood are a bond that I’ve never been able to experience, but being in a sorority...yep! Decades later it seems that the hazing, stupidity and demoralizing of others hasn’t changed much. Real subject matter was handled but I wish it was something that didn’t need to be addressed. Unfortunately, our society is still a work in progress. So thank you BT. Your words will hopefully help others.

This book shares Bishop’s fears, demons and values. His actions, although not the smartest, are respected. A true standalone, I believed and felt every word I read. An epilogue that made me smile and music that gave me inspiration.

Bishop is a must read.

For me, this novel was an emotional roller coaster ride as I followed McKenzie Bishop on his transition from life as a soldier to the life of a civilian looking to find his way after choosing to leave his life of military service following a life-altering injury while deployed.

I think you’ll laugh, cry and you might even become angry as you come along for the experiences he has and meet the people that cross Bishop’s path as he seeks to find his new normal.

Bishop also provided me with moments to think about issues that are prevalent in this world right now and now I find myself wanting to know, “What can I do to help make a change?”.

Whether you are already a fan of BT Urruela’s work, or are just being introduced to his work for the first time, this novel is definitely a MUST READ for all!!! He uses his own life experiences in his writing which, for me, makes the story and characters that much more real and relatable.

Bishop is BT Urruela’s best work to date!!!

This story is a ride well worth hopping on! It will take you through a rollercoaster of emotions, laughing to crying, anger to love, betrayal to trust. I hope you hold on, read to the end because you will not be disappointed!

Bishop is raw, unapologetic and brings to light the struggles of a young wounded veteran as he tries to figure out where he fits in as a civilian and what his purpose and potential can be now that he has the rest of his life ahead of him.

It is also a story of friendship. Friends are either embarrassing you and throwing you under the bus or helping to plot the revenge for a broken heart. Friends are there for you when you are at your high and but a true friend is still there through your lowest of low moments. When Bishop is finally able to open himself up he finds good friends but he also finds a better life.

McKenzie Bishop, is a complex lead character, I think he doesn't have faith in his strength. He is a leader in spite of his boredom, loneliness, and his own form of alcohol therapy. He does not believe he can overcome wounds from his time overseas in the Army. Veterans Affairs substance abuse program is his best choice since his pledging process ends in being arrested at a fraternity party.
He is surprised when he falls head over heels for his much older female counselor and with his sessions becoming so much more than just learning about overcoming his addiction to alcoholism.

This story drew me in an would not let go until I finished it completely. I really felt Bishop's pain and success. Especially when he love and a reason to fight for her.

Please read B.T. Urruela's book and let me know how you like it.

Bishop!!

Be prepared to have your heart strings pulled!!

First, I have to give props to BT Urruel, I honestly don’t think anyone else could of written this book as well as he has!!
If you’ve ever wanted an inside look at life as a wounded veteran and what it’s like to pledge a fraternity than you must read this book. But be prepared for one hell of a ride. This book had me laughing out loud, crying my eyes out and cheering for all my favorite characters. There are some heavy situations that are written about in such a truthful manner that you can’t help but feel like you’re living the story with the characters and feeling all the angst with them.
Honestly I can’t say enough how much I loved this book. If you’re looking for something new to read I suggest you go one click right away. Happy reading!!📖

Friends who become family

I chose to give this book give stars because of the amazing messages the author and story tell. I laughed and I cried many times as the story unfolded. You can't help but to call in love with Bishop and his group of misfits. It is amazing the kind of bond that can be formed when people go through mental and/or physical obstacles, even amongst very different types of people. This book shines a light on the college frat, sorority, and party lifestyle that desperately needs to change. During my college years and afterwards, I was much like Bishop as far as the watching out for friends. One too many times I got in fights with males who didn't understand that taking advantage of my friends who were obviously black out drunk was considered rape. Up until a few years ago, I was the one who partied but stayed coherent enough to watch out for my brothers and sisters, until they realized there were limits and consequences. I've been lucky enough to have made those bonds with friends that become family and I loved how this book reminded me of so much. Many have been lost due to many factors, but that love remains. Thank you to the author and his team for the great book. Even without relating on so many levels this book would pull at your heart strings, make you laugh, maybe raise the temperature of the room a time or two ☺
