Kwantumfysica, informatie en bewustzijn

Rate this book

This book gives an understandable overview of physics over the centuries. With regard to quantum physics the evalutation is based on a solid overview of the available research on the phenomena.
The writer makes it explicitly clear based on the known empirical research that conscience has an impact on the events as are observed. Further the Kopenhagen interpretation of the quantum physics is strongly supported by the research. This interpretation made by Heisenberg and Bohr states that the quantum wave is not a physical wave but a non- physical wave of chances where the particle will show itself. In quantum physics therefore experiments which are conducted under similar circumstances can and most probably will show different results. Probabilty is basic in the particle movements. This insight confirms my opinion that determinism is not true in general. As a consequence free will at least partly is also most likely.
The experiments show tah reality is formed in close cooperation with conscience. A spirit independant from the body therefore seems to be most likely. This implies that materialism is not the basis for the world view and gives a view on the metaphysical reality. Science begins to understand and experience the meta physical world. This offers a challenge to many scientists who claim to understand it all and explain the world and evolution form materialism and reductionism.

Quantum Physics, Information and Consciousness.

This book is more about physics, specifically quantum physics and yes, also about consciousness but in a different way than expected. And not less exciting.

In the foreword some bombshells are presented which will be explained in the book;
* The results of quantumphysics clearly contradict the hypothesis that consciousness is the product of the brain.
* The observer will manifest what is observed.
* The hypothesis of a cosmic consciousness which could answer all questions quantumphysics poses.
* The universe is not an objective materialism, but an environment which we co-create.

The first couple of chapters deal with the conventional Newtonian Physics as oppossed to Quantum Physics.
Then the rest of the book describes the fascinating discovery if the quantum collapse and the role consciousness plays in this phenomena. Lots of experiments have proven this. No use in denying it.

The leap to a cosmic consciousness to explain the quantum collapse may be a little far fetched, but for now it seems the only explanation.
Measurement in quantumphysics revealed the strange fact that the observation of an object, is the cause of the manifestation of that same object. Only after the measurement is taken, the quantum object materialises as a fysical particle. It looks like the consciousness of the observer causes the particle to be quantifiable. To manifest itself.
For vanLeeuwen this was the first confirmation that consciousness is more than just the material brain (and as such the continuation of consciousness after death)
Physics, the science of matter, and more precise quantumphysics, can tell us about consciousness, the nature of reality and our perception of it.

A really fascinating book, which explains the journey from classic physic (Newtonian) to quantum physics (Einstein, an electron as particle and wave, Heisenberg, the uncertainty principle, etc).
Too much to mention here.

The author warns that it is not easy matter, and that was true for me. But fascinating none the less!

Recommented for the curious mind about the universe in which we live.
