The end of the world didn't come with a bang. It came as a whisper on the breeze.

It could have been any day on Bourbon Street. But it wasn't. It was the day the end began.

A sudden mysterious virus sweeps over Orleans Parish and within a matter of hours it seemed that everyone had gone crazy. As the city burns, madness and dissension spread quickly.

Desperately trying to identify the root of the illness, mistrust and suspicion surround the scientific community over the murder of a colleague.

As the event spirals outward, a group of strangers is thrown together determined to survive. Armed with only the talisman and charms of an eccentric woman, they look for their own answers.

Will faith, science and black magic be enough to stop the deadly epidemic in time to save humanity?

Say your prayers and say goodnight.

3.5 out of 5

I didn't really know what to expect with this book when I began reading it. From the author's description, I expected a viral outbreak to hit on page one to really pull me in. Unfortunately, that's not what happened and I actually found the beginning to be quite slow. It took me a great deal to keep enough interest to continue reading but my love for the French Quarter and all things bayou kept me going.

I won't say I'm glad it did but what I will say is I was pleasantly impressed and found myself enjoying the book more. There were so many plot twists and turns, I couldn't get off the ride until it came to the ending. Which, might I say is very typical of a viral outbreak novel.

The way the author wrote the book showed a great deal of care I don't see in many titles nowadays, which was indeed a breath of fresh air. The way the book was worded was very elegant and well done.

Very enjoyable read!

I loved the way this author found a way to link all the important characters to the story together. It was an apocalypse that for once ended up okay, and I’m just fine with that. The story was developed well in a steady build up of action with not a dry spot in the book. There was just enough New Orleans magic with Queenie’s abilities to ‘see’ to keep it a very little touch in the paranormal.

Not so far fetched

Considering we are in the midst of the Corona Virus Pandemic this book was hitting pretty close to home. The story had a good flow except for 1 thing. You often, very often had to read several paragraphs often pages to find out or figure out who was talking or thinking. Often I would go back to see if I missed a character transition & usually find I hadnt! You have a lot of main characters to keep track of so when you switch characters without naming them but only labeling them him or her/he or she is not only confusing but irritating! If not for your greAt storyline there were several times I would have quit reading!
So glad a cure was found for your virus!! Gives me hope for this one, the Corona Virus, to end soon.

A Page Turner

It seems that the more I read, the less I understood, and the more intrigued I became. It was a thrilling ride, I was never bored!!
