I really wanted to like this book...and I am still going to read the third one because I'm just that type of person, but I just couldn't get past the fact that there were so many grammatical errors and the timelines just don't match up. Also, some of the locations don't match up and stay consistent. Hopefully the third book is better.
Series Rating: (2.5 ⭐️ average) Tempt Me ★★★★☆ Tease Me ★☆☆☆☆ Tame Me
First off, I really did enjoy the storyline of this book. It has steamy scenes, drama, and mystery. I had been waiting for several months to read the second part of Josh and Ella’s story. I think that Josh is a great lead. He’s obviously a rich alpha, but he also has a sensitive side and is pretty down to earth. The text banter between the two is fun. Now Ella on the other hand, I just can’t connect with. She’s ok when in scenes with Josh, but her inner thoughts are so immature you wouldn’t think she’s an actual adult living in NYC. Lastly, I didn’t notice as much in the first book, but the writing style is very repetitive, scenes seem like they were needlessly added and don’t flow smoothly. This is frustrating when reading, but apparantly is just this authors style. Luckily I enjoyed the plot line and will continue in this series to see how it ends.
When you read the synopsis and look at the cover you're probably thinking stereotypical light erotica. You're mostly wrong. The two books in this series do feature some sex scenes but in no way are they overly descriptive or vulgar. So far these books have a good story line and substance. I'm writing a review because this book in particular has been on my mind lately. It stood out to me because it's so NORMAL and the characters actually act rational which I was not expecting at all. I was expecting hot, almost perfect male hero and dainty, beautiful, damsel in distress. The hero, Josh is amazing but he does has flaws. He doesn't always know how to handle situations and sometimes does messes up but he looks for the better solution and tries. Josh genuinely cares about those he sees as his responsibilities and will do a lot to help them. Ella is beautiful but she is no damsel in distress. Yes, she was in situations that she needed saving but she was not helpless. Ella constantly tried to fix the situation and learn from them rather than calling daddy and running back home. It was refreshing reading these books in a world overwhelmed with cheesy/trashy romances.
Tease Me, by S E Lund is book 2 in the MacIntyre Brothers trilogy and continues the story of Josh and Ella.
Ella struggles with telling her parents about Josh, due to her father’s political opinions, which happen to differ from Josh’s. They both struggle with their past infidelities, but seem to try and find a way to trust each other, with a few bumps in the road.
There are some underlying powers that are still not revealed and book 2 does not end in much of a cliffhanger.
I look forward to book 3, Tame Me, which comes out in 2019, so that we can see if Josh and Ella find their happily ever after.
Not worth paying for. The heroine is annoyingly ignorant. She jumps to the most ridiculous conclusions and then sticks to them for chapters on end. I almost quit a few times but I just wanted to see how things turned out for Josh because he's the only reason to read this book. Also, the author has NO sense of time. The book starts after Thanksgiving and then weeks pass but yet there's a month until Christmas. Then David needs 6 weeks for recovery but two weeks later the 6 weeks have passed. OMG! Finally, the characters make decisions and then 10 pages later it's like it never happened. Anyway, end rant.
3 stars at best. 2nd book into this series and my opinion remains the same - I like the story, but the author keeps missing the mark in telling it. Also, what’s with the typos & errors throughout the book.... feels like a tight deadline and a lot of cutting and pasting gone wrong - might need better proofreading and editing... I’m going to read the 3rd book hoping for a pleasant surprise - if not just some closure to the story.
I'm going back and forth between 3 and 4 stars, so I settle with 3,5. There is a story there, but I'm not quite sure where it's going. We'll have to wait for the third book for that I guess. In general I liked the story, but sometimes there were too many repeats of info just given one page before already. And grammatical errors, but less in this one than the first book.
Story is good, but the proofreading needs to be done. I do like Josh and Ella, but several errors need to be fixed. If those were done, this book would be awesome. There is some needed drama, chemistry and looking at an HEA. Will finish out this series. I was given an ARC for an honest review.
Loved the second one installment. Storyline continues nicely. Characters develop quite nicely.. Nice sub plots and some intrigue. Recommend highly. Read Book 1 first.
Tease Me is part two of Josh and Ella's story. Their relationship is moving forward in this book but there are hints of trouble to come in book three. Besides Ella's disapproving father, there is a mysterious man in a fedora hat who shows up repeatedly and an anonymous text with malicious intent seem to signify that someone may be trying to sabotage their relationship. I am looking forward to finding out how it all turns out!
I am voluntarily reviewing an advance reader copy of this book.
Ella and Joshua started loving each other but forgot the trusting part. Great 👍 job on the writing and mystery. Sure hope you have a happy ending in the next book. We all need some happiness.
