Although eking out a meager living in the comics field since 1995, Eric didn't find true success until he launched his critically acclaimed dark comedy series The Goon. The Goon was subsequently picked up by Dark Horse Comics and boasts a diehard cult following.
Eric Powell knows how to put together a horror anthology. This hearkens back to old comics like Eerie or Creepy. Adults into fun horror books will enjoy this along with those who have youngsters who are into things that go bump into the night. The book is kept at a PG level with the most gruesome elements being some undead creatures and very little gore.
Received a review copy from Albatross Funnybooks and Edelweiss. All thoughts are my own and in no way influenced by the aforementioned.
A comic full of light-hearted PG-12 "horror" shorts, which is perhaps at its best when dipping into blatant "Exorcist" or "It" rip-offs, and updating "Christine", but doesn't really amount to a classic read. It's all perfectly fine, but a little on the gonzo side where a lot of the art is concerned, and might not be as exactly memorable as intended.
