The Social Catalogue Of #Prey is a deep dive into the sinister hi-tech white slave trade where unsuspecting young females are stalked on social media, then stalked in real life and subsequently abducted by snatch squads, chained in basements and sold online to highest bidders to be sexually abused, tortured or even killed—all by way of live-feed video for the sadistic pleasures of other paying customers on the world-wide Dark Web.
In the Age of Social Media, many users feel compelled to post routine details of their lives on FaceBook, Instagram and other such sites. They post selfies, post pics of the plates of food they’re about to devour, they tell you where they’re going, where they’ve been, and countless other humdrum details of their day-to-day lives. Some live their lives on social media, unmindful of the dangers lurking at its darkest edges, never even suspecting that they might be making themselves easy targets for deadly predators—especially young attractive women.
“Cannibal Cop” Gil Valle and co-author Bridget Lee take you inside this shadowy online world and show you how women may be cataloged and auctioned off by the sickest of perverts who ply their trade buying and selling innocent females to be raped, slaughtered, and sometimes even cooked and eaten.
This brutally realistic novel may change the way you use social media.
University of Maryland alum and Ex-NYPD cop turned author with a wrongful arrest and prosecution in between. Now fully exonerated, I've turned to writing in the hopes of making this a new career.
RAW DEAL (2/9/17) is my memoir about the "Cannibal Cop" case. I talk into the world dark and violent sexual fantasies, my family life, my wrongful arrest, my time in prison, rampant misconduct by FBI agents and the US Attorney's office, and my eventual acquittal and full exoneration.
A GATHERING OF EVIL (1/14/18) is my debut extreme horror novel, and it is not for the squeamish or faint of heart. It is the story of two New York women leading seemingly normal lives, completely unaware that they have been targeted by a group of wealthy and violent sadists. This group, who met through the Dark Web, share some rather unusual sexual desires, along a desire to turn those twisted fantasies into reality.
THE SOCIAL CATALOGUE OF #PREY (1/15/19) is the sequel of A Gathering of Evil. It centers on the dangers of the Age of Social Media, and how users unknowingly make themselves easy targets for depraved predators by posting the details of their day-to-day lives. This brutally realistic extreme horror novel may change the way you use social media.
I've appeared on Inside Edition, Crime Watch Daily with Chris Hansen, People Magazine, Cracked.com, Slate, The New York Post, The New York Daily News, The New York City Crime Report, True Murder with Dan Zupansky, Daily Mail TV, Soft Focus with Jena Friedman, and many other places.
This summer, I will be a guest at CrimeCon in New Orleans. I'll also be attending KillerCon in Austin, Texas as my novel A GATHERING OF EVIL was nominated for best extreme horror novel of 2018.
4.5 🩸 ⭐️ There’s a lot going in this story . If you have read A Gathering of Evil then you are familiar with Bruce & Marilyn . This time around they haven’t lost their taste for extreme torture. They are offered a deal they just can’t refuse. Then you have Shannon a mother of two. She’s been given a “raw deal” and looking for a fresh start. Valle has once again not only brought back vile characters he’s added some to the mix. I didn’t find the build up to this book to be as extreme as the first but the torture scenes definitely made up for any lack of build up. This book was depraved to say the least. I also add a caution ⚠️ to this book. Even for the most seasoned horror readers.
At first I gave it 4 stars, because I was expecting a new story and it felt like the continuation of the first book. But then I remembered I literally created a new Facebook account because this book creeped me out so much. It's absolutely worth a 5 stars.
OMG! This is one sick twisted story to read! The author really makes you think twice about posting on social media! It's a very frightening story....so frightening because in todays day and age....this is a very real possibilty! I want to say so much more but the language I would write in would most likely lead my review from getting posted. This is so close to home here.....we just had a woman come up missing about 15 miles from my hometown. They have recovered her vehicle but no signs of her anywhere! Like I said, this is so scary because this could very well be happening right now. Thanks for the ride to hell and the nightmares I am sure will follow.
The Social Catalogue of #Prey is an excellent addition to the genre of extreme horror. It builds very realistic and well-rounded characters, something the genre often lacks, while still telling an intense and horrifying story. It builds on Gil Valle's first book while keeping all of its strengths, though also a few of its flaws. Valle has proven himself a very capable author of horror fiction.
I had so many emotions reading this book! It truly was a rollercoaster... Very squeamish and uncomfortable... almost nauseating at times. This is the continuing story from "A Gathering of Evil", so there are a lot of references to past characters. It is all intertwined so i would highly suggest reading that one first. I felt like there was a lot of character development in this book which allowed you to get to know them on an even more personal level, and i found myself getting attached to a few of them. It made it that much harder when things started happening. Centering around the dangers of social media and carelessness, this will definitely make you second guess your next post. As for good ol' Marilyn and Bruce, they are true stone cold serial killers and the brains of an ever growing underground society.
**SPOILERS** I’ve read all three books written by and of the author. I’ll start by saying there were a handful of grammatical errors that I found throughout the book which irks me to no end.. Now, on to the plot; in essence the book focuses on the fear and danger of social media and how easily attainable a persons information is. While this was a good, and relatable fear to play from, the story was ultimately drawn out and had a difficult time focusing on one true story. I feel like Valle was just trying to add length to the story instead of quality. I believe the first novel, “A Gathering of Evil” was better, while it was short it was to the point and delivered the necessary impact a novel should. “Catalogue of #Prey”, focuses 3/4 of the story on the planning, kidnapping, and auctioning of Taylor, and then the other 1/4 of the book focuses on an estranged single mother who eventually is taken and killed along with her two daughters. The story of Taylor is too drawn out, in my opinion. This, as well as the epilogue and prologue, which were not necessary at all to the story?, should have been edited and removed. There is also a chapter that discusses the aftermath of the first victims kidnapping by allowing readers a view into the lives of the parents, which was also unnecessary to this story. I understand Valle was trying to tie back into the first novel with the “Jennifer video” and the other kidnappings he was trying to portray but it wasn’t necessary and ultimately made the first half boring and drawn out. I bought this novel in great anticipation of the first but I was ultimately disappointed. The book doesn’t even get better until about page 260, in which the torturing and killing of the mother and daughters felt rushed and forced since most of the book was about kidnapping Taylor. Even the torturing was kind of boring as most of the methods had been used in the first novel, only a few methods actually made me cringe, so another disappointment. Overall, please don’t add length to your novel if your not gonna make it worth reading from beginning to end! However, I will say, the killing of Taylor was nicely done and visually portrayed, it just took way too long to get there!
Ugh.. I hope there’s a third novel so Valle can be redeemed!

This is a spoiler-free review of The Social Catalogue of #Prey
Gil Valle made a successful foray into extreme horror with A Gathering Of Evil and I knew then his work was something special. His follow-up, The Social Catalogue of #Prey, lives up to the standards set by its predecessor. It’s a gripping read that may be inappropriate to describe as entertaining given the subject matter, so I won’t describe it as entertaining.
Wink, wink.
Basically, if you’re a fan of extreme horror of any kind, you’re probably going to enjoy this book. But if you’re the type who doesn’t consume much horror and you happen to want to read this book for reasons other than just loving brutal, disturbing fiction, be warned: this book ought to come with trigger warnings. Just, all of the trigger warnings.
My only real criticism is that it does feel a little too short, a little rushed in places. I think it could definitely benefit from another fifty pages or so. But this doesn’t detract from the book’s quality, it only makes me wish there were more of it.
The story is packed with the content that not many desire to dive into. There were multiple moments where my stomach churned because of the horrific scenarios that showed in my mind.
This is a great follow up story made by the author after their first (also twisted) story. It tackles the sadistic, and sinful desires of man by the way the characters execute their heinous acts all the while still being closely tied to reality. There were times where I felt like I was reading a crime scene report rather than reading an actual story from how gruesome the happenings were.
Overall this is a great read! It can scare the heck out of you if you have an overactive imagination! You have been warned.
Another gruesome installment! Again, as with my other review of Gil's books - these are not for the faint of heart. This one in particular focuses on how much we (collectively) share on social media. It is so easy to be found, to be followed - or worse. Very realistic and it'll make you think about what you put out there for the world to see.
I thought A gathering of evil was a good book, this one was even better. It reads like a cautionary tale. What happens when you put your whole life on social media. Bruce & Marilyn are back again and abundantly more sadistic. Can’t wait to read the next one!
Gil did a great job with this sequel to his previous novel, A Gathering of Evil. He pushes the limit with this story of extreme violence and perversion. I felt hope, suspense, anger, frustration, sadness, and a few other emotions while reading it. I also love how he pulled from his personal experiences to add more realism and empathy for some characters. Some might not notice how much was used without knowing his full story, but I was able to appreciate it and I applaud him for it. I look forward to the third in what should absolutely be a trilogy.
