Rate this book
In terms of personality, high school freshman Sakurako Kawawa couldn't be more at odds with her roommate: the beautiful, lackadaisical Kasumi Yamabuki. But even though hardworking, friendly Sakurako might get the top grades in class and do most of the cooking at home while Kasumi seems to be constantly nodding off or snacking, these two roommates actually get along so well, you'll rarely see one without the other at her side.

Follow the heartwarming, hilarious daily life of two high school roommates in Volume 5 of this adorable four-panel style comic!

One day a volume of this will be appreciably different and I will have something to say here. Today is not that day and I wouldn’t put money on the next volume or the one after it.

College offers a change of scenery, but Kasumi and Sakurako remain eternal. At this rate, if the series ended with them dying and being exactly like this in heaven I wouldn’t be surprised. Their dynamic as friends continues to be as enjoyable as ever.

I do like that there is a shift in this volume to offer up some more overt signs of yuri (it’s definitely ‘yuri paradise’ territory, even if guys are certainly acknowledged here [even food can’t lure Kasumi out on a group date]).

Even though some of this shift is certainly based in the high school characters, it subtly acknowledges the sort of experimenting and broadening of horizons that a lot of people experience when they reach college and are exposed to more viewpoints and people. Nice touch.

I particularly liked the introduction of Moka, who is an actually identified-as-bisexual character, which is so rare in any manga that it’s worth acknowledging. Though she has an object of her affections, and they’re pretty cute together, she spends a lot of the early pages bouncing around relationships and I like that the book doesn’t look down on her for it.

Everything else is the usual fun and hi-jinx with some bigger special chapters to fill in between scenes. It’s still more amusing than hilarious (although there are always one or two laughs), but never a chore to spend time with.

3 stars. As regular as a federal holiday and just as relaxed. I appreciate the addition of some new characters and the extra flourishes of yuri, but the true strength of this series remains its wondrous and laudable consistency.

3 stars. This series does not need to be nine volumes. It's chugging along but it's really not all that interesting. I thought it was going to get better as it went on but it seems to be at a standstill. Only thing new is that the girls are now in college. Other than that I'm a bit bored but I'm pushing through just to see how it all ends.

Another dud! I think the author has about five mini-stories and keeps rotating through them. Kasumi is lazy. Kasumi is cold. Kasumi is hot. Hinako (Sakurako's younger sister) keeps hitting on Kasumi. Sakurako is good at everything. Occasionally, the art is nicer; otherwise, this is a waste.
