Room at the Top

Austin and Jay want a dom in their lives, but not a third person in their bed. When their dom moves away, replacing him turns out to be trickier than they’d thought and the two of them are getting desperate. Enter Liam, a friend of their former dom, deliciously sexy and stern, ready to spank them into shape -- and he's straight.

It’s all going so well, but can Liam separate his growing attraction to his two young subs from what they do during their sessions? And can Austin and Jay handle the discovery that Liam means more to them than he was ever supposed to?

With Austin’s younger sister April ready to do anything she can to make life difficult for the three men, is it going to be possible for Austin and Jay to prove to Liam that there’s room in their life -- and their bed -- for him?

Is BDSM my kink? Is ménage my kink? NO and HELL NO!

So yeah, this went way beyond my normal comfort zone(s) but I still loved it, even though I don't understand the need for spankings...and there were lots of spankings but nothing more hardcore than that. The scenes/sessions were really intense and they got hotter and hotter the deeper I got into the story...once romantic emotions became involved and things started going beyond the original agreement.  The early scenes don't even involve sex so there was plenty of sexual tension between the subs and the Dom to keep me interested.

Ok, let me backup to the scenario: two subs in love (Jay and Austin) are so desperate they decide to try out a straight Dom (Liam). Those who know me, know that I usually avoid ménage any time I can, but this really didn't feel like ménage to me. Austin and Jay were so in tune with each other they were like one person...one entity, and yet they were so different and unique. (Hard to explain because I know I just contradicted myself.) They feed off each other's responses and their loyalty to each other is incomparable. Then there is Liam; I loved how Liam was able to identify Austin and Jay's different traits and needs and exploit them to the point of maximum pleasure for all three of them. There just couldn't be a story without all three of these men. Then add the gfy aspect of the story and it was just perfect for me.  I love self-discovery.  The progression was slow and the fears and needs all felt real to me leaving the story romantic and beautiful.

4.5 Stars because the flashbacks at the beginning were a little annoying, April needed to be written out of the story completely, and I really wanted a longer ending.  I needed more of these three men together; I want to know if they ever worked out the living arrangements. I'm perfectly ok with a HFN, but I just needed a little more.

I definitely want to read more by these authors and recommend this book to anyone, even those who are wimps when it comes to BDSM and ménage.

This book contains BDSM and M/M/M and unfortunately that means there will be some readers for whom it will not appeal. They will be missing something excellent. This book shows very clearly a menage situation where all three men are essential to the dynamic of the relationship. No pair would work in isolation, but as a threesome they click. It also gives a very good look at men for whom BDSM fills a real need, distinct from just sex.

I fell in love with all three men, needy Jay, insecure and protective Austin, and Liam, the Dom who is so centered in his scenes and yet struggling to find himself outside of them. The slow progression of their relationship was perfect, the descriptions of the scenes detailed enough to envision them perfectly, yet never boring, and hot even for someone like me who doesn't like pain in with my sex personally. The author made me see what each character got from it, and how the threesome worked together. I couldn't put it down, and will be rereading this one.

A NICE MENAGE/BDSM/GFY MASH-UP.

Buddy Read with Iggy, Braden, and John

So this was a lot of things in one book. A threesome relationship, between one Dominant and two Submissives. Where the Dom was dubbed straight in the beginning.
This was actually quite light despite the premise. (outside of their encounters) Jay and Austin is already an established couple. There scenes were cute and very light.
I loved Liam. I just think he's the hottest daddy/Dom ever. I won't mind to go down to my knees for him. XD

I think the greatest thing in this book was the sex scenes. They are so damn hot!!! That I won't forget that in a while.

Okay now to the things I don't quite like. In between sex scenes, the scenes, their interaction, it was boring. Especially the first 20% of the book. It was really damn boring. And I need a little "umph" from the story. But everything was there: romance, angst, sex, good plot, good writing. It just need something "more". And I got the feeling that the authors intended to make the beginning "quiet", so the rest of the book will be "noisy". The result was the bar was set low. So after the beginning, the story became a little less than spectacular.

But that doesn't mean this was a bad read okay? This was a good read. And I enjoyed it. Overall it needs a little push.

A quite good Menage/BDSM read!

Thank you to my BR buddies for reading this with me!

BDSM and D/s are not normally my scene so I suppose this was a read outside of my usual comfort zones and at first I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy it because frankly they're not subjects I've ever been able to fully understand but I've read a few Jane/ Alexa novels recently and really enjoyed them so I pressed on and I'm so glad I did.

Austin and Jay are so in love its palpable, both are subs and they need a Dom to complete them but not particularly as an extra in their bed. Suddenly their current Dom who they've been very happy with, has to move away and they're left searching unsuccessfully for the man they need to take his place. As the book opens they're doing a scene with a guy who ignores them when Jay uses his safe word and its the straw that almost breaks the camels back, leaving them floundering. They love each other passionately and would never leave each other because of it but they can't give each other what the other needs so Patrick, their ex Dom who they still speak to, comes up with the unusual idea of approaching a friend of his who is straight, divorced and looking to get back into the lifestyle... Enter Liam.

So starts their relationship which within a short time starts to work and they click. Liam is perfect for them, he's willing to dole out the punishment and pain they both need and they trust him implicitly but being straight he doesn't push them for sexual favours, they meet every Friday and fall into a routine that satisfies all three of them. But of course over time the lines begin to blur when they all start to become closer and Liam finds himself becoming attracted to the two young men, and they to him.

Somehow these two ladies seem to have a knack for making this type of lifestyle more easily readable as well as compelling. I honestly enjoyed every moment in the book and its not just the spanking, bondage and steamy sex because there's a true love story growing between these three men and I loved seeing how the two endearing loveable guys broke down the barriers of Liam's stern but I think underlying lonely character who had been living a lie for so long. There's some conflict thrown in the mix with Austin's crappy sister April and Liam's uncertainty about his true feelings for Austin and Jay but overall I was gripped from start to finish and I connected with the three of them because I really grew to love them as the story progressed. I was left with a few questions unanswered though at the end, so a bit of a drop in the rating but Ive decided to round it up because its made me think outside my usual box.

I may not understand or like everything about It and I don't think I ever will but I actually felt comfortable with this story so I'll definitely be checking out the other books based around BDSM by Jane Davitt and Aexa Snow now...without too much trepidation!

Whelp, I’m in the minority again. While reading Room at the Top I kept nodding off. Seriously, like 4 times! Once was even during a sex scene! I mean, I’m glad I caught up on some nap time but…

Liam (the Dom) is a corporate lawyer. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz oops sorry, I dosed off again. He’s “straight” but offers to top these two scamps. Well, one’s a scamp the other’s kind of a basket case. I empathize with him. I really do. I’m sure it’s jarring to be pushing 40 and realize you’re attracted to the same sex although, he did have some homoerotic moments with his best friend as a child. Whatever. I digress. He keeps denying his attraction and what made it worse for me was he withdraws from them when the feelings get too close to the surface. At one point he even ran out of a scene! Not cool. Every time he gets turned on he shuts down like the doors of Fort Knox, freezes them out then usually kicks them out leaving them feeling confused and shunned. I have NO idea why they think he’s the cat’s pajamas.

Austin is… yeah, he’s a basket case. Every time things get too stressful he turns to self-medicating by swiping valium samples from the doctors office where he works. I can’t get behind that kind of behavior, even if I do feel sorry for the kid and his plight. He’s got a nightmare of a sister, April. *shudders* Talk about a thundercunt. Ugh.

Jay I found dull. He’s into Tolkien and dioramas and yeah, I’m done here.

There’s good character development, I just didn’t identify with any of them or like them for that matter. I still have reservations about the logistics of their relationship long term. I found it odd that all three of them refer to themselves in the third person. It reminded me of:

Except, you know, not funny. The kink is pretty good. Liam’s definitely creative and it’s steamy when he’s not freaking out. Like I said, it’s probably my mindset since this book is littered with 4 and 5 star reviews. I just wasn’t engaged or interested. *shrugs*

I've been in the mood for a menage romance, lately, and I've had this two book series on my Kindle for a year, or so, so I decided to give it a shot. I loved the BDSM aspect (even the pieces I wouldn't enjoy, myself) and the MC's. And though there were a couple issues I had with the story, overall I quite enjoyed Room at the Top.

Austin and Jay are an established couple at the start of the story. And they are looking for a new Dom to replace the one that moved across the country. It's a tough search and after getting burned one night, they enlist the help of their old Dom in finding a new one. And he has just the guy. Plus, since Austin and Jay aren't interested in bringing a third person into their bed, the assumption the prospective new Dom is straight shouldn't pose a problem for them, as long as it doesn't for the Dom.

And it wasn't a problem. Not, at all. Until it was, that is. Because Liam isn't as straight as he's always told himself and he's known this for a long time, but he locked it away. But after scening with Austin and Jay for a few months, Liam has to face facts -- he wants them both. SO, what now?

I loved their dynamic so much. Liam never felt like an interloper. The chemistry was off the charts for the three of them, as well, and I really enjoyed their time together and when the lines started to blur, it felt natural.

In fact, there were only two things I didn't much like about Room at the Top. The first was Austin's sister, April, and the other was the abrupt way the story wrapped up.

It's been a while since I've had a good rant about a secondary character in a book. And while I still managed to enjoy Room at the Top in spite of that secondary character, she did cause enough damage to my enjoyment to knock my rating down a bit.

April was a self-absorbed, spoiled, bitch of a sister. She really acted like the world owed her everything. Well, I've got news for ya, sister, you need to grow the fuck up. The thing is, Austin was always making excuses for her and bailing her out of trouble -- including monetarily -- and not once did she appreciate it. So yeah, I literally hated her. April needs some tough love and if that means actually having to suffer the consequences of her own actions, well then that's what needs to happen. No one is doing themselves, or her any favors by coddling her and letting her get away with everything.

The other issue I had was with how the story wrapped up. I hated the way that Liam suddenly ran scared and broke things off with Jay and Austin. And while I'm not the biggest fan of grovelling, in general, I do think that Liam needed to do a little bit of it. Austin and Jay took him back too quickly after being, not just pushed away, but thrown away. They barely even blinked! I mean, make the man sweat just a little. He kind of deserved it!

I am looking forward to reading book:Room at the Edge , though, and seeing these three get their HEA. At least that is the hope!

Re-read Feb. 2016
Well, after a re-read I'm going to drop a star because the ending was incredibly unsatisfying. I loved everything in the beginning and middle, but I felt cheated my the abrupt ending and Liam's lack of real emotion when push came to shove. I know their journey continues in a sequel, which I read and didn't enjoy nearly as much as I did this book.

Dropped from 5 to 4 stars and I don't plan on re-reading the sequel because I wasn't jazzed with it initially.

original review:
I am super, duper picky when it comes to threesome books that I actually like, much less threesome books that I will rate 5 stars. This is definitely one of the good ones! I loved the dynamic between the two submissive MCs, already in love, looking for an extra piece to their sexual relationship, and the hard-ass, but lonely straight Dom who joins them for weekly BDSM play and eventually falls in love with them. A wonderful tale I can highly recommend to any and all who enjoy a good M/m/m/ menage romp.

And how fun is this? There is a sequel! Room at the Edge. I am all over that bad boy.

Room At The Top is black coffee and dark chocolate with chili.
Smooth,hot,rough and delicious...

I liked the equal development of the characters. Most BDSM books concentrate on the feelings and thoughts of the sub(s).To be in Liam`s (the Dom) head, seeing the scenes through his eyes, his growing attraction to his two young subs, the doubts and insecurities - for me it was refreshingly different and a joy to read.
The dynamics in this threesome worked for me,even the GFY.Austin and Jay were a lovely couple - deeply in love with each other - and Liam falling in love with them was absolutely believable.

What I didn`t like was Austin`s little sister as some kind of villain. The character`s "evilness" was exaggerated and an unnecessary addition to the plot.

Liam, is the Dom I love. He's not without flaws, but he's perfect to me. Without fancy equipment or tools, he exuded a dominant demeanor which has me wanted to kneel at his feet. His creative ways to torment Jay and Austin had me panting with excitement. For a straight guy, he's physically sexual with two gay men. And I'm just fine with this.

Jay and Austin are two cute submissives who don't possess a single dominant tendency between them. They can't even switch. Poor buggers. Patrick, their service Top leaves and they hit rock bottom. It isn't easy for them. I'm glad Patrick did step up and recommend Liam as a possible service Top.

Over the course of a few weeks, the service becomes more. We clearly see a relationship building between the three. This is expected because I find that a truly D/s relationship requires trust and with trust, feelings are going to develop. One could argue this was merely a SM relationship. I would say no. I say no because of the needs Jay and Austin expressed. They didn't need just the impact play. They also wanted to be Dommed. This indicates D/s to me. This begs the question, is it possible to have a D/s relationship w/o ever involving sex.

I think this book illustrates just how difficult it is to separate the BDSM experience from feelings. At least to experience it to the depth Austin and Jay did, they ended up falling hard for Liam. I wasn't even involved and I fell for Liam! I'm not a big fan of switching POV. I can say that with Liam's insights, I liked him better for it. I also liked how it showed his love was not hampered by society sexuality roles. This was a thoroughly enjoyable book. I only wish I read it sooner. I highly recommend this book to BDSM lovers who enjoy the D/s and SM. And if you enjoy figging, there is a very hot scene with figging. Who doesn't like figgin?

A solid BDSM menage story with an interesting dynamic.

Jay and Austin are in love and committed to each other. They are both subs with different needs and had a dom they would see once a week, together, with no romantic entanglements. After he moves they have difficulty finding a replacement. Liam is older, divorced, straight, but prefers to do scenes with men as they can be pushed further to satisfy his sadistic needs. This is the perfect arrangement until Liam begins to realize he has a growing attraction to Jay and Austin that could end badly in so many ways.

The story is well written and has a good pace, with the relationship building and changing throughout. Each character is distinct and their POV represented. The BDSM scenes were sexy and intense and you really got to know the characters and what they needed. I'm looking forward to jumping right into the next one.

This review was originally written for The Romance Reviews and can also be found there.

When in need of a good BDSM story cut with sweetness and served as a three-way relationship, you should look in the direction of this book. Adorable subs in need of a firm hand could make even the toughest of hearts stutter, but a good top just sets the beat straight again.

Jay and Austin are two submissive men in a relationship. They love each other deeply and they know that will never change. Unfortunately, their needs are not fully met as their yearning for punishment and balance is too strong to simply go away. Their previous arrangement with Patrick, a stable dominant fell through when the man moved away and the rising frustration during the following months just didn't make things easier.

Liam came in as a recommendation from Patrick. He is a straight divorced man with plenty of arrogance and a sexy accent who seemed like the right choice. But does the right choice also mean all rules imposed by Jay and Austin can stay the same?

I ended up thinking my rating over for some time after I finished this book. Considering some parts and figuring out if others could have been written differently. So my final rating isn't something I just stuck up there based on mild fondness.

This is a slow pacing book. There is no action and rush. Every detail is explained and every action thought through. The characters had their voice, their personalities were distinguishable and very powerful. From the very beginning I was carefully guided into their world. First into the relationships of Jay and Austin—their needs, wants, desires as well as their habits and quirks were made so a part of them they almost felt real to me. Later on, when Liam came into the picture, his dominance was so powerful I could see why the two subs needed him. The gradual progression from getting to know each other to pushing the limits almost made it seem like a movie and contributed tremendously to the story.

The book is filled with their scenes which can't be considered hard, but were very enjoyable. I loved to see them squirm and just snap into that state of mind where they felt safe and the different points of view made every man completely involved into the story.

The character of Austin's sister, April, was the only disruptive element of a nicely moving story. Her attitude and general personality were just ugly and even though she does end up being apologetic by the end of the book, that part was not as well worked through to make it believable. In addition to that, my biggest objection was one point at the end where a type of unnecessary conflict was placed. I truly felt as if someone grabbed me by my shirt, slapped me a couple of times and then put me back down, and expected the wonderful relaxed mood I was in before that moment to continue. It did eventually, but that took time and there were just not enough pages left to the story.

The feeling I got while I was reading made me realize I had to rate this book with five stars. I enjoyed it immensely and as such I recommend it.

I am in the minority with my rating and review; not because it’s a bad book, but because BDSM is not my favorite subject. The writing is superb and the character development is great. I love these authors’ style and will continue to devour their books. I just prefer to stay a little lighter on the spankings, if you know what I mean.

Jay and Austin were just too freaking adorable. I wanted to cuddle them up and bring them home with me. But, they are the epitome of “don’t judge a book by its cover”. They are both subs who like their asses beat, hard, until they cry. They like marks on their bodies and even slaps across the face. That is a bit much for me and I don’t find it very sexy or romantic at all, but both Jay and Austin need that and, hey, who am I to judge?

Liam is the older, closeted, and in deep denial about his sexuality, Dom. He beats the shit out of these guys and fantasies about other ways to hurt them. Not because he is brutal but because he needs it and knows that they need it as well. He loves them and would do anything for them but pain and hurt is what they all live for, and he gives it, hard.

April is Austin’s younger sister. If she were mine I would disown her. I hated her and wished that she would get run over by a tractor trailer, backed up, and run over again. I wanted no chance for her foul mouthed, selfish, inconsiderate and self-serving ass to get back up again. I had no sympathy for her after she apologized and boo-hoo’d to Jay about being sorry. Preaching to the choir babe…you suck and always will. No redeeming qualities and I would never forgive you.

The ending of the book is the best. It’s where the three: Liam, Austin and Jay finally come together as equals and as a family. It was quite romantic and worth the entire wait.

A pretty good BDSM story that was mostly pretty solid. I have a quirk with liking my menage couples being treated equally and fairly so a triad containing 1 Dom and 2 subs was going to be less than perfect, for moi. My triangles need to be equilateral, hunty! I'm just built that way. *shrug*

But I was satisfied with the story, overall it was pretty good.

The issues? Small, really. April, Austin's sister irked my last nerve and had my hand aching to reach through my Kindle to smack the ever living daylights out of her. She's disgusting and unrepentant. And mostly a brat. I don't feel enough was done to her.

And though these three ended with a HEA, something about the whole scheme left a little sour to the sweet ending. I don't know what it was but I'm not dying to pinpoint it.

Austin and Jay? Love 'em

Austin and Jay and Liam in BDSM scenes? Love 'em *clenches teeth* Gimme more!

Austin and Jay and Liam as a couple? I like it.

This author duo strikes again with a solid story and they are working their way into a possible automatic read category for me.

This is one of the few times that I could picture the guys on the cover being in the book. That was them right there, Liam, Austin and Jay. Sometimes I have a hard time telling who is who apart in three ways, but their voices and behavior were so individual I didn't even need names to know whose head I was in and I connected with them right away. I'll agree with everyone who mentioned that April stuff was over the top and unnecessary. Pushing her aside, I enjoyed this kinky read immensely.

Two great subs that caught my heart immediately, and a Dom who captured my interest right from the start. This was a book that I read in one sitting, and will turn to again, no doubt. All three main characters were distinct personalities, and the secondary characters, while not all likable, were distinct and more than just page filler.

Jane Davitt is now an author that has been put on my auto buy list.

Re read, April 2023, - meh not a good now, too much description on some things that it felt like it was dragging in some places.
February 2015

Review:

This is such a great book. Definitly one of my top threesome stories! The relationship between Austin and Jay is so sweet. I love that they are so connected and have such a sthong relationship. That felt unique in this book, there was nothing lacking in their actual relationship, just in their need for a dom.

Liam was awesome, such a sexy straight forward dom, completely in control, but with a softer side I enjoyed reading. The sex and BDSM scenes were super hot, although no threesome action until the last scene (and by that I mean penetrative sex, obviously their 'scenes' had all three of them). The build up to each individual person feeling that stronger emotional connection was done well and felt believable.

It was a relief that the end issue got resolved fairly quickly and yes I absolutely HATE April!

All in all for this book alone I would have liked the relationship to become established much sooner that's why it was 4 not 5 stars. since there is a sequel and I have read it, I would give this book 5 stars if the sequel was included in that.

This is a wonderful & wonderfully kinky book. The scenario us just so believable too. I would love to meet up with Liam, Austin & Jay for a coffee. I want to help build the dioramas & cuddle with Austin. They were all just so 'real' given the word-smithing of the author. Don't think that the characters were too perfect tho'. Jane gave them very human frailties which just added depth to a wonderful read. Can I just add, Jane has some seriously twisted kink in her psych. The BDSM scenes were so fresh & original. Not a St. Andrew's cross or spanking bench in sight but poor old Jay & Austin were tortured in wonderful ways. I would probably class this as moderate BDSM...no sugar-kink here but nothing too heavy either. I have read this book multiple times now & will read it many more times too. Highly recommended for lovers of gay-for-you, ménage, M/M romance/erotica and lovers of kinky fuckery. Just wonderful.

I got into this duology well enough when I was reading it, but it's not gonna be a re-read. If you haven't read the James Lucas trilogy (plus novellas), I would recommend those instead (even though they're not free). It's just a better version of these same dynamics -- established couple that turns into a threesome, two subs/one dom... and somehow both doms also turn out to be very conveniently wealthy :)

This one throws in the addition of the supposedly straight dom, but I didn't think it capitalized on that very well. I also kept finding myself wishing that we had seen more of the two subs from the beginning of their relationship because I couldn't always figure out *why* they were so connected to each other. I believed it, I just didn't fully get it. I don't mind established couples stories on principle -- some of my all-time favorite romances have already established couples -- this one just didn't pull it off as well. (And it's another thing the JL trilogy did better.)

Very good m/m/m romance about a sub- couple and a straight dom who finds more with them than anyone expected.

The story concentrates on the dynamics between the three men, the bdsm scenes aren't by any means "hard core", but they are detailed and there are plenty of them, so if bdsm isn't your thing I'd stay away from this one. I honestly enjoyed this aspect of the story, it was sexy and the shift from one characters head to other flowed smoothly during the scenes, and the way the authors showed the reader what worked for who, why and how, really impressed me.

The pace the relationship between the main characters deepened and changed was believable and easy to buy and and accept (not an easy feat). All the main characters felt real and three dimensional, their feelings, actions, hobbies, interest and motivations were well fleshed out and made them interesting to learn and read about.

April though, she really disturbed the overall feeling and course of the book. Every time she appeared I found myself yanked out of the story. Her character was all over the place and didn't really contribute anything necessary to the plot, I think. The last plot twist, the final conflict of the relationship, was exactly the same cliche I've read over and over again in m/m books lately. Maybe the timing was just bad, but the turn of events made me roll my eyes with the triteness of it. The fears the characters faced were real and understandable, but I wish they had found the right solution with a different route.

The ending hit the perfect note for me, it was hopeful and sweet without being cheesy or rushed, leaving the still new relationship room for growth. Overall Room at the Top is one of the best novels about a romantic relationship between three men I've read.

These gals are now officially on my "I will read anything you write" list.
Jay and Austin are a perfect match and madly in love with one another. One is messy, one is neat. One is noisy, one is quiet. But both are submissive. Patrick has been their Dom for years but had to move out of town leaving them empty and searching for someone to give them the release they both need. Finding someone to take them on as a package deal has not been easy but Patrick provides a solution in Liam. Liam, although straight, is a pefect Dom. He gives Jay and Austin exactly what they can handle and tailors each session to meet both their needs. But as they spend more time with one another their bond grows stronger and so do Liam's desires for something more. Admitting he is sexually attracted to men is not easy for him however and mistakes are made. Throw in a nasty brat of a sister and a few insecurities and this perfect trio is nearly reduced to a lonely pair.

Boy do these ladies know how to write bdsm!! It's not just about a sex kink but about the characters and their needs, personalities and insecurities. We get to know Jay, Austin and Liam outside the bedroom and outside their D/s relationship. Each MC has a personality all his own. The story plot itself had enough loops and hiccups thrown in to make it interesting. I wasn't really sure how I would like the menage factor. I read romance because I like feeling that true love connection between characters and I sometimes can't get that reading menage stuff but again these gals know how to write and I didn't feel a loss of connection or intimacy with an extra body thrown in the mix.

Now I'm off to add all their other books to my tbr list!!

It is rare to read a ménage romance that convinces you so thoroughly that you are reading about real people in an actual relationship, but Davitt totally succeeds. Jay and Austin work very ordinary, unglamorous jobs, and are most remarkable for being so unlike the usual novel character--I thought they were adorable in the best way. They are believably in love with each other, but with the usual problems anyone who has ever been in a serious relationship will instantly identify with: everything from figuring out what to do on a Friday night, to putting up with the other person’s messiness or neatness, to helping your lover when they are depressed. Davitt is extremely generous with her details, filling out these two in a way that made me truly care about them, until I was sniffling along with Jay over his diorama and worrying about how Austin will solve the problem of his impossible sister.

The addition of Liam into this very tight couple was just as convincing. I loved getting his perspective (especially since I am closer to his age!) on his two younger partners. I understood their need for him. The wrinkle of his being straight sets up a tricky problem for the author, which she solves convincingly (mostly). In the end, she achieves the most important element for any writer of romance, gay or straight, two-some--three-some--anysome: the reader is thrilled and deeply satisfied to see the characters end up together.

The characters in this felt very real and I enjoyed this a lot.

BDSM issues:

But I was able to look over this and enjoy the love story. I really did fall for Liam in the book, which would have made all his dickiness worse.

I loved the whole two subs are together and needing a Dom angle. So many times there is already a D/s relationship formed when another sub is added.

Austin and Jay. Good god, was it ever hot reading about them. The way Liam played their weaknesses and strengths to get everyone over that edge. Those two guys fit each other perfectly. I loved how everything wasn't always perfect.

Liam. I'm kinda still on the fence. I could of done without every couple chapters having a reminder that he isn't gay. Fine. Say it once. But, once you go home and stroke yourself with these guys on your mind. You have officially switched teams. Even more when you race out of the room in a scene because your coming in your pants. But no. He's still not gay. Good gravy. You've turned down 3 women. ::shaking my head::

The whole sister angst and Attitude I could have lived without as well.

I'm looking forward to the next book. To see how it all works out.

Loved this exploration of polyamory and BDSM. Austin and Jay are a perfect couple, who are dedicated and cherish each other without a doubt, but they both need a little something else. It is the strength of their love for each other that makes the journey possible with all its trials and tribulations to find the missing piece--Liam.

Liam's journey is just as difficult and I appreciate the the "human" qualities of both the Dom and the subs being represented here. Liam isn't a "superman", he's a strong, caring man. The storytelling and subtlety of the characterizations really make this stand out. This book leaves you with a big, contented sigh.

Reread 2020.

Gorgeous writing with a similar style of D/s to Bound and Determined by Jane Davitt I found this to be just as entertaining with some of the rougher elements really floating my boat. The menage was nicely handled and I think how they authors ended the book was thoughtful and true to the characters. The building of tension was great and I just really, seriously liked this book loads. Get it. It's cool.

I really enjoyed this book. The writing was solid and the story smooth. Austin and Jay made such a nice couple. I never questioned the strength of their relationship. Liam was a nice addition. He was able to give the boys just what they needed, and as things progressed, Liam received the same. By the end, I was very happy, but I really didn't want it to end. I would love to read more about how their relationship is progressing and dealing with inevitable issues.

My first m/m/m BDSM read. Sounds hardcore doesn't it? But if you are used to reading this type of genre it wasn't at all. The spanking play was rather tame, the sex was sweet and romantic.

I have to start out by saying that I absolutely loved this book. I normally steer clear of BDSM and menage books and this one had both. It was recommended highly so I decided to give it a shot. I am so glad that I did.

This is not the traditional BDSM or menage story. Jay and Austin are in a committed relationship and they love each other dearly. They just need more. That more being controlled, spanked, submissive to a dom... together. They are a package deal. They don't want another person in their bed. They want the thrill of giving up total control... together... but not if it involves having sex with their dom. While their relationship is perfect in every other way, this is needed by both Austin and Jay. When their regular dom moves across the country, they seek out someone who will take his place. After a bad experience with one person, their former dom recommends Liam. Liam is straight but he has experience in his past of dominating men. It seems like the perfect arrangement for all until feelings get involved.

The reason that I normally shy away from books including a third party is because I hate reading all the emotional b.s. that is involved in that type of relationship. There is always jealousy or insecurities that are played out during most of the story. That was so not the case with this book. Austin and Jay are very secure in their relationship and they both have the same wants and needs. Liam, on the other hand, is an enigma. Not only is he straight (having never had sex with a man before), he is divorced and the father of two children. The arrangement works out well for the three in the beginning but then Liam starts having doubts because he's wanting more... much more.

This is such an amazing story. Jay and Austin are absolutely perfect for each other. They have normal couple disputes but the love between the two constantly shines through. Liam is so serious. It was a pleasure watching as his feelings for Austin and Jay became so much more... and watching as he battled himself over those feelings.

Austin's family takes up a small part of the story, mainly his psychotic and bitchy little sister. Seriously, she is the type of character that makes you want to reach into the book and slap the hell out of her. She's spoiled and the word bratty is too nice to describe her. The entire world is supposed to bow down to her and do what she wants because she demands it. There is no appreciation when someone bails her out of yet another jam. It's like it is owed to her. I kept waiting for someone (Austin mainly) to stop giving in and either force her to take responsibility for her actions or to just walk away completely. It would have been understood. The way the sister thing was handled is my only real issue with this book. Otherwise, it was perfect.

Overall, an excellent story about three men whose relationship starts out unconventional but ends up being a beautiful love story. I would like to see what happens after "THE END" as there are still a couple of things left undone in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, the HEA is there but I would have liked to have seen more. The BDSM aspect was not what I expected. By some recommendations and reviews I've read, I expected it to be much harsher than it actually was. I actually enjoyed reading about it the way it is written in this story. I didn't feel a lot of humiliation or overly done (violent) episodes. Everything that happened happened because it was what the character (either Austin or Jay) wanted. I never felt that it went too far.

I will definitely recommend this to anyone who reads this genre and I will be seeking out the back list of both authors. I only regret that I put this off for so long.
