One Wedding, Three Murders

Set in the 1980s, Abe Town is run by a wealthy family headed by a shrewd businessman, Eric Durant. His daughter, Erica Durant, is one of the most desired lady in the entire county, who isn't as kind as she looks. On the day of her wedding, tragedy strikes when her father is mysteriously found dead, with a bloody knife found on an unsuspecting waitress.

Sheriff Jake Palmer must convince the crowd and the Durant family of the girl's innocence as well as find the killer, before he/she gets away. The confusion arises when the murdered victim is not the same person who the sheriff met earlier in the evening. The investigation takes a nasty turn when the groom is found wounded nearby, turning the entire investigation upside down.

Lots of twist and turns lead to a strong motive, indicating that the entire fiasco was pre-planned and the intention of the crime wasn't what it looked like. Multiple witnesses create a confusing timeline. Sheriff Jake Palmer must work with what he has got, but was perplexed when one of the witnesses pointed towards groom being the architect of the entire plan.

She has been awarded Mahatma Hansraj Memorial Award (2023) by her alma mater Hans Raj College for being a notable writer (given by honourable Mr. Vikramaditya Singh, Member of the Himachal Pradesh Legislative Assembly).

This short story is a gem of a mystery! The storyline is captivating, and the execution is superb. I was especially drawn to the characters of Erica Durant and Sheriff Palmer. Their depth and development added so much richness to the story, which is often lacking in shorter works.
