When Layla Simone decides to fulfil her dream of becoming a writer in Hollywood, she hardly expects her life to change the way it does. Jaye is Layla's high school sweetheart. They've been in an off and on relationship since the ninth grade. That said, they are both really in love and both believe that they're going to live as man and wife - soon. Jaye has issues when it comes to providing for his family. While waiting on Jaye to accomplish his dreams, Layla begins to question what happens to her dreams that have been deferred.

Finally electing to chase down her opportunities, Layla heads off to Los Angeles, CA. Without Jaye, her best friend Ke-Ke and the closeness of her family, can Layla make it?

Faking It has an easy flow to it although very predictable.

This was good- what I've come to expect from any book by Angel Hunter. I'd have been surprised if it hadn't been good. It seemed just a little slow at the beginning- but that may have just been me. I was reading two others, both of which I'm not into, so I think my mooc was not right when I started. :) I'm going to cut those lose here soon if they don't get better. LOL If you like Angel Hunter, you'll like Faking It- it has the drama and the great characters also. I was totally into it by about a quarter of the way in. I actually would have liked it to have been a little longer, the ending everything happened no fast.

It was a pretty good book, but it didn't really stick to the story like I thought it would. It didn't really say who the 'gold digger' was, and if it was supposedly Wesley, the writer didn't truly emphasize on his gold digging side. They did a great job in showing how much of a player he was though. I don't think the protagonist (Layla) in the story was really 'faking it' but more so sleeping around. The ending was unexpected though.
