📚 “𝐈𝐭’𝐬 𝐬𝐨 𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐛𝐞𝐚𝐮𝐭𝐢𝐟𝐮𝐥, 𝐝𝐨𝐧’𝐭 𝐲𝐚 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐤?” 📚

For the past 3 years, bodies of women who were brutally murdered have been found on the streets of New York after their pretty faces were corrupted. 😱
Sharon Davis is the police detective in charge to look for the ruthless serial killer. The search leads her to Kelly Danes, the editor of the successful fashion magazine, "Inner Beauty" and finds that the secret to the solution is related to the stunning supermodel, Gloria McIntyre - but what is the connection between these women...? 💥

Glamor, betrayal, jealousy... Will Sharon solve the mystery before another victim dies? 😱

This is a dark psychological thriller, with a light touch of romance and full of surprising twists! 💣
There is a female power dominating this book - the writer, the detective, the victims and even the murderer - they're all women. That's one of the things I loved most, because there aren't many thrillers with such a strong female presence. 💪
Additionally, unlike other thrillers, I loved not having to wait until the end of the book to find out who the murderer is (sort of... LOL), the only thing that needs to be solved is the REASON.

The story was intriguing and the writing was fascinating with lots of cynical humor and graphic descriptions that totally made me feel part of the plot. While there were a lot of chapters, they were short and almost each one of them ended with a surprising discovery. 💥
The author has a great imagination. to be honest, I'm still a little shocked she created such a crazy character (psychopathic AF!) and I'm even a little scared of her because of it... 😂

The reason I gave this book 4 stars is because it took me a few chapters to get into the story... And because the book was written in a third persons perspective and the number of characters in it, there were some parts that I had to go back and listen again, to understand which of the characters was talking.

I loved it! This book totally reminded me of the TV show "Criminal Minds", so if you like surprising and thought-provoking psychological thrillers, you should totally read this book! 💥

I listened to an audio - and the narrator (Hayden Bishop) was awesome. She managed to convey each character's emotions in an epic way. I would even say she took her role a few steps ahead, because I often found myself jumping in panic and even screaming out loud because of her! 😂😂😂

WOW - WOW - WOW!! What a great psychological thriller this was!! This entire plot kept changing so much that the reader just couldn’t put the book down, because they were not sure what would happen next!! Glass shards from a mirrored wall is where it all began? Where was this mirrored wall? What happened for the mirrored wall to become damaged? Did it all start twenty years earlier with a young girl by the name of Kelly?

Det Sharon Davis of the NYPD is called to the scene of a dead body, which was found in a garbage dumpster. The body had once been a beautiful young woman, but now looked as if it had been beaten, cut on, and hair ripped from her skull. It looked like she had suffered from hours of torture, before she was eventually shot and killed. There definitely seemed to be a rage about the way the murders were committed. What kind of a person would do something like this to another human being? Sharon had been trying to solve these murders of young beautiful women for six years. The killer left no traces of clues. The profile that Sharon was given was of a very meticulous, perfectionist. She assumed that the serial killer would be a man, as it took an enormous amount of strength to put the body in a dumpster. Why couldn’t she find any clues to these murders? Sharon’s Captain told her she had to made headway on this case, because he was getting pressure from the higher ups. They did not want to find another dead body; they have two bodies currently. How many other bodies were there that they didn’t know about? After going back through the very first case file and interviewing witnesses, Det Davis found one thing in common with two of the cases. She found that each girl had been given a business card from Kelly Dane, Editor-in-Chief of the Inner Beauty Magazine. When Det Davis called Ms. Dane, she knew that Ms. Dane was hiding something. Little did Det Davis know who she was dealing with, because her Captain, Rob, received a call from the Commissioner that they were to leave Ms. Dane alone. According to the Commissioner, Ms. Dane is an upstanding citizen. Who is Kelly Dane, really? Is Det Davis in danger? All of the evidence is leading her back to where Kelly was a young girl. What is the secret that Ms. Dane is keeping from everyone? How is all of the secrecy tied to a supermodel, Gloria McIntyre? What happened over twenty years ago? How is all of this connected? The reader will definitely have to hang on to their seats, because this book will surely take them for a tornado of a ride. The plot was awesome! The development of the characters and the scenes were very thought out and very graphic. The reader can almost see and feel everything going on throughout the book. The only thing that I found that needs attention, is that on a few occasions, there are some errors that could’ve been caught through the editing process. I am still in awe of this author’s writing style and her imagination. This book was probably one of the best I have read in a while. If you like a psychological thriller that will keep you on your toes throughout the entire book, this one is definitely one that you will not want to miss!! You won’t believe the ending of this book!! I look forward to another psychological thriller. Very similar to this one. Keep us all guessing!!

I received an ARC of this book and it was well worth the read. A twisted dark psychological thriller that will leave you breathless. I dislike leaving spoilers. When you figure out who is doing what it is a total mind bend then you realize everything you had just read was not who you thought it was. There is no hint throughout the book. When you get to that point you are much like the people in the story, "say what??" Since there are very few of these types of people in the world you would never suspect this particular person. The intro doesn't even give you a hint, which means I am not going to ruin the book for you.

I put this book up there with Dean Koontz -Intensity. It is one you do not want to put down. It is complex, the characters are fully developed and have underlying stories to tell that makes this book magic. Well done. This is my honest unbiased opinion.#Promotion

Wow.. This was probably the best ebook that I have ever gotten the chance to read. I was lucky enough to recieve a free copy on Amazon and I have to say that I would actually spend money for this book. The book was great and had me unable to stop reading as the characters were all interesting and it felt like I was in on this investigation as well. I predicted the twist but it was still great and left me with some questions that ended up being nicely tied in at the end of the book. Dana Moison has done a tremendous job writing this book and it has me extremely excited to read more from the series. This is one I would definitely recommend.

The 3+ average rating of this novel is hard to understand. The story line is interesting but not well executed. The writing is amateurish, full of misused words, awkward phrasing, grammatical goofs, and irrelevant observations and comments that do nothing to advance the story. It reads like an early draft and seems almost unedited, despite the author's thanks to her editor at the end. I hate to be so negative but people who publish books should strive for quality. This one falls far short.

I wanted to like this book as the story was interesting and creative but after having finished 13% of the story I found myself bypassing it when I would open up my Kindle.

This is an instance where I felt the manuscript needed a good editor to help spice things up, particularly over the words chosen, they need to be more descriptive and incendiary e.g. using slash or slice instead of cut to put more emotion into the wording.

I would love to give this another chance after a second or third write.

The book "Dark Illusion" managed to leave me with a lot of tension and each chapter attracted me to read the next chapter, until the twist that surprised me in the end but I will not elaborate to make you run and read it too.
This is the first book by the promising young writer Dana Moison, who was very successful in Israel and the United States, her second book "The False Mirror" I read breathlessly ... waiting impatiently for her third book.

I really like mystery books, especially those similar to James Patterson.

Quick chapters - each with a beginning, middle, and climax. This writing recipe tends to get me fully immersed into character and storyline development.

Dana Moison is a young vibrant woman who has written a thriller novel that actually had me immersed in the story from page one.

We know who the killer is from the beginning of the story, and see the story from the point of the killer (Kelly), detective (Sharon), and famous model (Gloria) - three different women with three different objectives.

The story takes us from New York City, across America, and to the stunning New Zealand outback half way across the world.

Throughout the story, Sharon pieces together the reasons for the murders of two beautiful young women, leading her into the downward spiralling mind of the intelligent, yet psychotic, killer.

What I enjoyed most - the end - there's quite the unexpected twist, and I could NOT put the book down for the last 1/4 - I NEEDED to know what the real truth was.

I cannot wait to read more from Dana - she captured my mind and reminded me why I love reading - for the thrill, chase, and desire to know WHY.

If you enjoy a fast paced and thought provoking thriller mystery novel, check out Dark Illusion today!

תעתוע אפל/דנה מויסון
Dark Illusion/Dana Moison

Ynet.

הכריכה מהממת, מתאימה לספר, הכתיבה קולחת.
קראתי ונהניתי, מומלץ בחום!

I am in love with this book. It is so well written that I didn't want to put it down. The author has such a way with words that it almost throws you right inside the book as you are reading, like you are really there! Once I started, I couldn't put it down and being a blogger, I am always busy, so that is saying something.

I don't do spoilers, but I would like to hint at a few things. I think this is a great book showing the power of women. It isn't every day, that you get a strong female presence in a book. The other thing I wanted to say, is that I like the fact that this book is different from other thrillers. You don't have to wait to find out who the bad guy is. The only thing you have to figure out is why it is happening.

I think this author has a great career in front of her. Her writing style is one that I can identify with and is more complex and well written then some accomplished writers I have read. I am not one to read this genre very much, but Ms. Moison has me wanting to look into more like this!

I received this product in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion/review/feedback.

Dana Moison certainly titled this book appropriately!
It is truly a Dark Illusion in more ways than one.
This psychological thriller is a wild ride. Every time you think you have the story figured out, you are faced with a new twist!
Kelly Danes is an Editor in Chief for Inner Beauty Magazine which is ironic on it's own as the story progresses. She has some peculiarities about her and a secret to hide.
Gloria McIntyre is a gorgeous model, some call her the most beautiful woman in the word.
Andy Swain is a photographer looking to make Gloria his muse.
Sharon Davis is a detective determined to solve the mystery behind a serial killer on the loose whose victims are all beautiful young women.
What could they possibly have in common?
Well I will not give anything away however this story is one that keeps you riveted, wanting to know what will happen next.
This story has it all, glamour, intrigue, betrayal, jealousy and murder.
Will Sharon have the answers before it's too late?
Dark Illusion is an edge of your seat read that you will enjoy from cover to cover.

I started reading this book and couldn't put it down! My attention was captured from the very first line of the book. I enjoyed how the story unfolded with the detective's investigation. I was compelled to keep reading because I wanted to understand the reason for the murders. Even in the last chapter I still wanted to know why to bring closure to the entire story. I like how the epilogue completed the story even though the events had transpired three years prior tithe climax of the story.

I wasn't expecting the turn of events that revealed the real killer. I would love to read more stories that include Detective Davis. Detective Davis was a woman I would want to meet, and she would be considered a tough woman who can solve a case.

This book reminded me of the television show Criminal Minds with the mentioning of unsubs and profiles. If you like shows like Criminal Minds, you will love this book!

I received this book for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased opinion.

A Dark Thriller with a Side of Romance

For the last three years, young and beautiful women were brutally murdered, not before their delicate features had been disfigured. Sharon Davis, a stubborn and tenacious NYPD detective, is on a mission to catch the murderess. She's a workaholic who leaves very little time to attend her personal life. Will she manage to find love while pursuing a dangerous serial killer?

The female power definitely rules this book: the detective, the killer and the victims – all women.

This book has a lot of twists, but the last one is fantastic. And there is more at play than meets the eye - a deceptive plot indeed. Very well-written. I really enjoyed reading this book.

Original and engaging story line

It's a five-star story , but some of the writing could have been better . Characters were not fully developed and some of the phrasing didn't ring true . I did thoroughly enjoy the pacing, the suspense was drawn out exquisitely . The author tells a great story . I recommend the book for its entertainment and excitement value , as long as you are not dead set on literary accomplishment . I had fun with it ! And I would read another book by this author .
