My worst fear was those woods; my greatest fear had once been him.
She was an innocent, heading for her illustrious private boarding school in the best tradition of the grandmother who raised her, and with the blessing of the father who adored her. Forsaken by her mother soon after birth, she had made lifelong friends in a protective, privileged, Portland society.
Arriving in Radcliffe Heights, Rhode Island, freshman Peony “Poppy” Calloway admired the picturesque small town. But deep in the shadows of the woods near Blue Bell Boarding School, and along its hallowed halls, lurked illicit sex, murder, and harrowing danger.
Seduced by Jordon Dashwood, the handsome, blue-eyed, white blonde Headmaster, Poppy enters a world of love, ecstasy, heartbreak, betrayal, and death.
This book contains violence of a dark nature and is only suitable for a mature reading audience of 18+. If this subject matter will offend, I suggest you do not read it.

Poppy grew up without her mom. She was daddy's girl and wanted to be just like the grandmother she grew up around. When Poppy was old enough to go to middle school, her dad wanted her to go to the same private school he went to because he was so proud of her. Poppy wanted to became a lady like her grandma and had her heart set on the same finishing school her grandmother went to. Poppy was not expecting the dark secrets she found. Even though human trafficking is a foul subject, this is a very good book. Poppy is a determined character. There are many unexpected twists in here that make the book interesting. Then there's that one twist that will make use from and you say, "how could she?" , uh-huh it's in there, just you wait! I think the morale of this book is "fight for what you believe in, for what's right" and "never give up".
This is an amazing book with unexpected twist. This book deals with events that, unfortunately happens in this day and age, human trafficking. Poppy's strong character teaches you to never give up for what you believe. Fight with all that you have. Ms Forry's characters are string with an amazing story line. I was able to follow it from the beginning to the end. Reading this book took me through a rollercoaster of emotions. I would highly recommend this book .
