The Most Intriguing Story I’ve Ever Read
Dan Kotler is a historian, an archeologist. He’s also known as a great author of his exploits. He’s a brilliant man.
This time he is in a group of great people who are going to the Antarctic. They are all looking for a map. The original one. The FBI has the best fake map of the Antarctic ever seen.
He and his FBI friend, Roland Denzil, and others, have the same instincts of where to look for it. But, those instincts don’t always work for trouble. Cause that is what they get when they enter a cave.
The cave is a subterranean base for Gail McCarthy and her minions. It has many weapons in there, artifacts and art work that was stolen by the Nazis. And most importantly of all, they have a submarine.
Who would figure that it would be so much better than expected? It even has Gail McCarthy’s name on it. It is named Abigail. It must have been named by her grandfather. What a wonderful surprise.
When Kotler and his friends are in the cave, they come under attack. They do not feel the same way about the base as does Gail and her mercenaries.
The whole place is a disaster waiting to happen.

The Antarctic Forgery was the fifth book by Kevin Tumlinson that I read. Although the plot started out with some promise, it quickly lost its luster mainly due to over-elaboration of action sequences. I guess I was expecting a lot more from Kevin when it came to plot development and core research required to generate such complex plots. Another letdown for me was the typical Western Ignorance towards Eastern cultures. Everyone knows that Hitler misused the holy Swastika symbol but the symbol itself does not represent evil by any means. It is still revered and used in most of the Eastern cultures and religions. Renowned authors such as Kevin should refrain from making blanket statements that may harm cultural sentiments as well as spread further ignorance and hatred.

This has been a great series of books. I have enjoyed all the Dan Kotler novels as well as the one with his nephew Alex. (Hope to see some more of him or maybe a story that has both of them???) The book is fast paced and I like how when Dan and Roland split up how he tells the story from both perspectives. The first time it happened I thought I had accidentally turned back some pages or that the book was defective until I realized that there were some differences. I have really enjoyed Gail as the antagonist with her snappy dialogue and comebacks. I wish I could say more but that would be a huge spoiler. My advice is to read the entire series and the short story Brass Hall. It feels like reading a book with Indiana Jones and James Bond (the literary one not the movie one) rolled into one character. Keep them coming Kevin!!

This time it is life or death can Gail be outwitted
As this story unfolds we are looking at Gail McCathy once again manipulation is her hold on Dan Kotler. She gave him 3 artefacts for him to solve the puzzle and it wasn't until an old map of Piri Reis (Antarctica) appears that he finally puts two and two together and so Dan and Agent Roland Denzel sets off to the frozen land of Antartica to find an underground Cavern man made that housed a nazi u-boat and of course there is something on there that Gail wants more than Dan. Kevin Tumlinson has you griped from the start of this adventure once again Kotler and Denzel are in great danger yet both manage to outwit the bad guys and make their escape. This story has you ducking and dodging the bullets a great read and well recommended

Excellent adventure!! But just as exciting were the 13 pages at the end of the book. In addition to the usual stuff about places, real history to back up the fiction and the characters; Tumlinson wrote about his "process." He's a "seat-of-the-pants" or "pantser" kind of author. No outlines, nothing. He just starts writing and the story evolves. I get that. Over my 5-year career writing close to 1000 non-fiction articles on yoga and general fitness, I wrote that way too. The company I wrote articles for gave me a topic and off I went.

Another very good action/mystery/thriller story. To me, though, it was not quite as strong as the first two books. Also, strangely, there were a few goofy grammatical and spelling errors in this book. At one point, “Kotler” became “Kolter”. An easy transposition, but a sharp proofreader should have caught that, as well as the other errors. Heck, I’m not a sharp proofreader, but they jumped out at me. I don’t complain much about free ebooks, in which this stuff is rife, but when I pay money for a book, I do expect better.

Once more Dan Kotler's life is upended by his lover/nemesis, Gail McCarthy. He is drawn into an elaborate scheme that ends with him and his FBI partner, Denzel in a remote part of Antarctica. This is a thriller from the beginning and keeps the reader locked in to the very end. I had to read it oin one setting because I couldn't stop. Despite being suspenseful to the end, the book offers a surprise at the end that is mind-blowing.

Great read
I’ve read them all. While I loved the book I question the repetition of past events. If it’s a serIes assume we read the past books. If it’s read as stand alone just a brief past look is fine but repeated going back takes me away from the story. I know Dan is smart. I know Roland has clostrephoia. Say it once or twice but not every 10 pages. Keep the story moving.

Decent action adventure novel
This was the first Dan Kotler adventure novel I read. There were constant references to events from prior novels, so I felt somewhat at a loss while reading this book. I do not consider this a stand-alone novel and suggest reading all the prior books first.

Action in Antarctica
I thoroughly enjoyed this book which focused the action and plot details in the southern continent. It helped that Nazis were an element of the story - an almost expected part of the scene. An interesting ending and one that brought genuine closure but also that left the way open for something more...

The hits keep coming
I don't know how this series hasn't hit it huge with the wider populace. This series is on par with Cussler, Hamilton, and Brown. The main characters, Kotler and Denzel, are fun and dynamic people that could each hold a series themselves. Add in several antagonists seen through multiple books and you have a winner. Brb, grabbing The Stepping Maze now!

Exceptional adventure
Having fun with a huge dose of mystery, plot twists, and well written characters. Mr. Tomlinson plays the long game with Dan and Roland and assorted characters. We are lucky enough to ride along! You like a rich environment with enough cation to keep the flow going? Read Tomlinson.

Another Binge read!
Clear the decks, get all the laundry done, lay in some meals, stock the liquid refreshments, and settle I got a few nites! I liked the setting, the characters, and the unraveling of the 3 objects. Great story...I’ll consider 5 stars when Roland starts setting good traps that enemies trip, instead on his continual ‘in transit’ firefights.

Another great Dan Kotler book. Hard to put it down once you start. With "Antarctic" in the title, you assume the story will be centered in Antarctica ... it is ... but there's so much more to the story. What is the secret hidden in what turns out to be a secret Nazi sub base? Read it, you'll like it.

The author did a really gear Dan book. I lke the characters and the role. The author admits he skims sometimes when I would like more depth and details. Part of this is his style. The other is my need. Love research and forensics even with the history stuff. Like it read the book.

Non-stop action til the end!
This is another great book by Kevin Tomlinson! Kotler and Denzel are off this time to Antarctic for another round with his adversary, Gail McCarthy. This time, however, everything ends with a big surprise!

Best Yet
This was definitely Dan Kotler's best tale so far.
Everything fit nicely into a neat little bow with many
loose ends tied and new ones added. Great series but

I liked this addition to the Dan Kotler series of adventures, but found it very drawn out. A lot of action but a so -‐ so story line. I will continue to read this series from author Kevin Tumlinson.

An exciting read
I love looking up things this author is writing about. For instance, I had no idea that there are settlements in Antarctica. People actually take tours there! Too cold for me.

Action
Kolter always find trouble, he is a magnet. The story is well thought out, if you read all these books in order it makes sense to Kolter why this happens. Great author, a real thinker, really enjoy his books. This one was great.

Kotler Rules
Dan Kotler is a fun character. Denzel is a good friend and associate. Together they make a great team. I still wonder if Gail was killed. Only time will tell if she shows up in another novel.
