CHILDish: Stories From The Life Of A Young Black Girl

Rate this book

CHILDish is a collection of mesmerizing stories about Kisha, a young black girl who grew up too soon. When the accumulated traumas of domestic violence, abuse, and bullying take the ultimate toll, she emerges as KishaLynn, a resilient and rebellious teenager determined to create a way out of lamentable circumstances. Walk in her shoes as she curiously navigates the intertwined pathways of sexuality and spirituality in vivid detail. Her emotional journey of perseverance begins at infancy and continues through adolescence when astonishing heartbreak leads her to the doorstep of salvation and self-discovery.

CHILDish is a fast-paced and cathartic chronicle. These stories include strong language, sexual content, and adult situations. CHILDish is not a children’s book. It is a raw and relatable coming of age narrative that every woman and man should read for their own healing.

A short read about the struggles of girl raised in poverty by a single drug addicted mother and how she overcame the statistics. For the first 8 years of school she moved every year and was bullied at each one until Kisha died and KishaLynn was born. I recommend this when traveling; will keep you entertained during layovers.
