Now... i know Im no expert in Daddy dom... and littles but... when the h said she was raped by her foster dad and whipped... the H still spanked her (first meeting him) and well they had sex.. no connection no nothing. This Daddy was too rough and I just couldn't warm up to him. He came off as crazy abusive and didn’t show any characterization of a real Daddy. Where was the affection? The emotional connection between them? The fundamental trust between two people in this type of relationship? Apparently not in Rough Daddy.
I like stern daddies but Knox was crazy OTT when it came to his discipline. With black and blue spankings, more tears than giggles and too much oversharing with his buddies, Knox turned out to be a huge fail for me. I didn't feel any tenderness in him and there was little to no aftercare shown. I guess if you like rough spankings, this book will work for you. It's 80% spankings and tears and 10% yelling/screaming matches between the two MCs, 5% bratty (but totally understandable) snark from Marli, 5% something vague about a bar and the mob (meh...) I honestly kept reading because I had a naïve hope that Knox would show us something redeemable but that hope was dashed. He was just awful!
This was just disappointing. The secondary character who started as an a-hole and ended up being more interesting than the MCs after meeting his potential Little (and first impression of him was not good!) This author's idea of Dd/lg play is not for me. Sadly the blurb was the only thing I liked about this read.
Bottom line, I didn't like Knox, he came off as obnoxious rather than alpha, rude rather than stern (please keep in mind he enters into a DD/lg relationship with a barely 18 year old runaway who has never been in a Dom/sub relationship, let alone a Dd/lg one), sadistic rather than disciplinary and abusive rather than dominant. Marlow spends more time crying, begging and being humiliated than she does feeling safe or cared for.

BE CAREFUL WHAT YOU WISH FOR
Well, this was another great story from Ms. Megan Michaels. I loved the characters, the D/s interaction, the sassiness of Marli and the dominance of Knox. Together, they made this story sizzle off the pages with erotic chemistry. Add to it, the group of soldiers that Knox served with during his time in the Army, along with the continued comradery and support, men who are willing to go to battle for a man and his baby girl. While nothing is indicated that this will continue, I hope to see more of Knox’s men to each find their very own happily ever after. I can see a new story with Sage and Kristi. (Hint-hint Ms. Michaels.)

What a great story of a hardened disciplined man becoming a strong daddy to a woman who never has known a daddy in her life. Knox is no pushover, and frankly, Marli needs structure, dominance, rules, and control. They talk, he offers her a fair deal, he will let her live there, in her own room, have food, and choices, but she would be expected to follow his rules, work for pay, and show respect. Entering into the Daddy dom—little girl relationship is completely consensual.

There are explicit sex scenes, many discipline scenes, including humiliation, and unequal power exchange.

No Daddy behaves like that
I’m an avid reader of this genre and by 28% into the book the lack of Daddy care was upsetting to me. The first night she sleeps in a bed he wakes her with a spanking because she’s not up fast enough. Daddy’s take care of their littles, he should have made sure she rested up. He mentally complains about how skinny she is, hello, she’s an eighteen year old squatter, but does he feed her dinner, nope, breakfast before putting her to work, nope. What happened to daddy’s putting health and safety foremost in their care of a little.
Then she bolts, mind you hasn’t been fed but been disciplined multiple times. He chases her down and instead of talking to the abused, homeless girl he makes her suck him off. That’s where I stopped. No communication, no care, not a daddy.
If you’re looking for a storyline with a true daddy with at least some aftercare and the daddy talking to his little to make sure he does what’s best for her physically and emotionally, this is NOT the book for you.

The author tried to show a girl in kink training. She’s saying “no” but really meaning “yes”. But this is clearly abuse. She tells him she’s been beaten with a belt and raped by her foster father, and the daddy spanks her with a belt and rapes her-but even though she clearly says no over and over again the author says she like it when it was over so it’s ok. He even tells her she can leave whenever she wants to, but when she does, he chases her and then beats her again. I love myself some kink but this isn’t kink, it’s abuse, and I feel gross having read half of it.

I realize that I don't like eighteen year olds as protagonists: they may be legally adults, but emotionally, mentally, and psychologically, they are not. Many are still in high school. Others may think this is "hot" and "sexy" and gives off a great "dd-lg" vibe, but I just find it creepy.
ETA: This doesn't accurately represent the lifestyle: there is no BDSM without consent, discussion of limits, or a safeword. None of these are present here. Kink sexual practices without consent are not BDSM, they are, in fact, rape or sexual assault and are illegal.

I’m not in the lifestyle but I have read a lot. To me, it seems like the idea of a DD is that there is negotiation of the relationship. There is at least equal parts care and punishment. Usually there’s more care than punishment. If there’s not, what makes it a DD/lg relationship? At that point, it’s just a loose dubcon sbdm sort of thing. The MMC spent the majority of his time spanking or whipping her, horribly. He whipped her with a belt just like her pedophile foster father and didn’t see a problem with it! He punished her with spanking on top of whipping, on repeat until he had to check and see if he broke skin.
In addition, he didn’t seem to spend any time with her that wasn’t punishing or having a quickie that was all for him. He kept thinking about how she was too skinny without recognizing that she was malnourished and needed to be fed. He just didn’t take care of her like she was his little girl, girlfriend, partner, lover, workplace acquaintance, anything. I really hated this guy. Like a lot. I couldn’t blame the heroine either. She was young, traumatized, in a bad situation, and new to the DD/lg lifestyle. She didn’t know what it should be like or what kind of power she should have.
Made me really sad all around.

I’m not sure where to start…
This was…not great. It certainly wasn’t the worst thing I’ve ever read, and I’m giving it two stars because there was some merit to it. However, there were issues all over the place.
Knox literally finds her in his bar and has her naked, spanked and has sex with her all within the span of less than an hour. What?! She didn’t outright consent to any of it. While I am aware that books are not where we should be getting real life safe/sane/consensual examples of BDSM relationships from, one would think there would AT LEAST be consent. Ugh. No talk of safe words between the two. WHAT?!
Let’s then talk about how he spanks her, like, really really spanks her with a BELT, and then continues to spank her nearly every day after that with no healing time. Let’s also throw a spanking with a switch in there too, just for good measure. I am agog.
Then there’s all the time Knox repeatedly thinks about how she’s too skinny or boney. Or all the times the phrase “mouth of her womb” is used. Then there’s letting his friends hear him being intimate with her AND showing her welts to one of his friends. Why?!
Then there several chapters between his friend Sage and Marlo’s friend Kristi and their budding relationship plus a spanking between the two. Why are we reading these chapters when the book is between Knox and Marli. Stop it. Well, I guess the only good thing that came out of the Sage/Kristi chapters was that it proves the author knew what a conversation about a safe word should have looked like between Knox and Marli.
Oh, and let’s not forget the absolute CONSENT VIOLATION that takes place when Knox daddies Marli in front of a total stranger, Nick, and in front of her friend Kristi.

Obviously, by the title I was aware that this would be a story concerning a Daddy Dom and the woman he cares for, protects, punishes and loves. For me, this was still a relatively new genre. Making this personal, I need to say that at first, this type of dynamic was a little difficult for me to delve into. I foolishly avoided the “daddy” idea for a while, then Megan Michaels, whose work I already adore, wrote Rough Daddy, and I began to read with an open mind. WOW! This story is full of excitement, sensuality, blisteringly harsh discipline, and scorching hot sexual encounters, and I could not stop reading!
The book itself is a fascinating story of a strong, caring, controlling alpha male determined to protect a feisty, previously abused, independent young lady, and help her adjust her attitude and behavior to become all that she is meant to be. Their attraction to each other was quite spontaneous. It was not even quelled by his extremely stern discipline, probably because the painful correction was always precipitated by her misbehavior and ALWAYS followed by his loving care and forgiveness.
Thank you, Megan Michaels. I will be forever grateful for your helping to open my eyes and my heart to an exciting, lovely life style and a whole new form of domination I had never understood before.

Good to know either someone has done their research or they live the lifestyle because the levels of consent displayed here are pretty well represented once they're in their relationship and aside from the very extreme story surrounding them. The actual "bratty" side of the main character is realistic without being over the top.
So the basic premise is retired Green Beret decides to open a bar for Veterans in a restoration neighborhood in Boston, with a slight mafia presence, but he finds a female squatter has taken up residence and she is willing to do whatever she has to in order to protect herself, including staring down a sizable man. Meanwhile he has spent his entire military career dreaming of his forever girl and she just introduced herself by trying to crack a beer bottle over his head... :)
It is well written even though some of the time jumps and the scene directions do not always make sense. The mafia storyline is laughable but as least the D/s DDlg portion is really well explored and explained so that readers can experience the level of negotiation and trust that goes into establishing this type of relationship. This is seen especially when punishments are doled out so the reader can see their consent levels (through internal monologues) and their motivations.

Hot and sexy Daddy Dom story. I loved the dynamic between Knox and Marli. I like my Dom's a little more on the stern side but with a heart of gold and Knox fits that description perfectly. He gives hard spankings but lots of sweet words and cuddling too, not to mention that sexy times. I did knock off a star for 2 reasons. One is the kneeling on rice thing. It's just not my cup of tea and kind of weirds me out. The other reason is the main thing that bothered me and that is when Knox spanked Marli for arguing with Sage. Yes the argument was stupid and childish but Sage was rude and very disrespectful for teasing Marli the way he did. Yes Knox told him to knock it off but it came across jokingly and patronizing towards Marli. Then he made it worse in my book by making her show Sage her spanked rear. The type of relationship they have takes a lot of trust and Sage was belittling her by the teasing. I did wind up liking Sage a lot more by the end of the story but that one scene still stuck in my head.

Within the first chapters you get the panoramic view of whom you’re dealing with! Marli a runaway spending most of her life from foster home to foster home not really understanding love, care and discipline, aged out of the system needing a place to stay and see a rundown vacant building to try and sleep never in her wildest dreams did she think she would be caught. Knox sexy as all get out daddy who just retired from the Green Beret, bought an old bar in hopes to bring it back to life it around and settle down starting a business but arriving to find a feisty, sassy teenager wasn’t his idea of settling down. In fact, all he wanted to do at this point was just get her to listen, take the attitude down a notch or two and do what she is told but she also brought out the daddy in him and the disciplinary. Marli’s mouth got her into trouble she ended up with a sore bottom the chemistry is insanely intense and the magnetic pull can’t be ignored but will she learn to behave, stop being so bratty, will he be her daddy, will he love/care for her, and can they find happiness?

What happens when a retired Green Beret soldier finds a homeless 18 year old girl squatting in his recently purchased bar? Here’s a hint, he is a very disciplined Dom and she is very much a latent submissive in need of discipline. I’m sure the possibilities are already formulating in your mind. This is an extremely well written spanking romance with Daddy/little elements woven within a Boston mafia subplot. Knox has two ongoing issues, firstly providing the proper conditions to allow Marli to experience the childhood and loving Daddy care that she never had, and secondly to open his new bar in a neighborhood ostensibly controlled by the mafia. He has to employ all of his skills as well as call in the support of his Green Beret buddies to keep both Marli and his future business safe. Lots of discipline, perhaps too severe at times (personal view) and lots of erotic sex. A great read, with just enough support characters, loose ends, and unresolved issues to leave you lusting for a sequel. 5 Stars

Her books accurately display the BDSM lifestyle, the rules, roles and responsibilities of both Dominant and submissive in the dynamic. It is an honour and a pleasure to be able to delve deep into her stories, not only reading the words, but seeing, feeling and connecting with her characters. Megan Michaels has an incredible ability to bring her characters personalities, strengths and weaknesses to life, making you have no choice but to see, feel and experience the extreme emotions and floods of desire and passion experienced by her characters. I will most definitely recommend this book to anyone and look forward myself, to reading many more books by this incredible author!

Fairly new to this genre, I wasn’t sure how I would feel about this book, but I was oh, so pleasantly surprised. I didn’t always agree with Knox’s methods or Marli’s behavior, but the story made me run the whole gamut of emotions. It grabbed me. The sex was steamy and their love was powerful. Thankfully Marli will never lose her willful sass and Knox will love her for it even though he tries to tame it. Oh, and while at first I wanted to knock Sage on his butt, I grew to like him also. Excellent!!

Military Man
Having a husband that served 20 yrs in the military I know how they can be. While we do not live the lifestyle that this book does it doesn’t mean they are not still protective. I think this was a wonderful example of how a military man loves very deeply. I was excited to read this book and was not disappointed at all. Very well done. Now can we have Sage’s story next? I hope so!!!!

I think if you are into Daddy Doms and good o' boys then you would like this story. It is well written and the author is great at building the scenes around the characters. Unfortunately I could not bring myself to finish the story; couldn't find it in myself to care about the characters.
