Her alternative theory produces a second suspect who tries to ingratiate himself, but only sets off louder alarms. Will the facts lead to the right answer, or will Missy be the next target? Formerly titled Pink Velvet Murder, this newly-revised installment in the Frosted Love series will have you hanging on the edge of your seat. Get a taste of southern charm and an old-fashioned murder mystery.
This is a novella in the Frosted Love Cozy Mystery series. These are quick, enjoyable reads. In this book, Missy is asked to judge a high school baking contest. When the young girl she thinks should win, does not, it is apparent the high school teacher who was also the judge sabotaged it for her. She is rightly upset and says some nasty things to and about the teacher. When the teacher ends up dead, Donna is of course the first suspect. Missy's relationship with policeman Chas is progressing nicely but he still does not want her to get involved in solving his crimes. This time, I figured out the culprit pretty early in the book, but still enjoyed it.
I honestly think I should just move away from this series because with each successive book it's getting worse and worse.
There's no mystery. There's not even a little bit of suspense. Missy is doing less and less in each successive book to 'help' solve these murders, and she is doing stupider and more reckless things as time passes.
Color me surprised. Someone is poisoned. Personally, if I was this close to so many murders in the time frame provided for this series of novellas, I'd move.
Everything had settled down and life is good until Loretta calls and asks Missy to be a judge for the high school Home Ec baking competition. Missy agrees and joins the Home Ec teacher and the principal as judges. There are only 10 finalists so not too difficult a task and Helen who works for Echo is the last contestant, her cake is incredible and both Missy and the Principal give her high marks but for some reason the Home Ec teacher gives Helen a very low score and so she doesn't win the competition, they argue and Helen is understandable upset that she lost out on a scholarship but Missy decides to go see Helen the next day and offer her big bucks to buy the recipe for her cake to use in the bakeries but things don't go according to plan and the next thing she knows Helen is a suspect in a murder. On top of all that Missy meets the mayor's spoiled obnoxious daughter who shows up 45 minutes late for the meeting she set up and is unbelievable rude to Missy who tells her she won't be her little puppet who jumps when she tells her too and that she is being cruel to the little dog she shoved down into her purse, well that didn't go over well she tells Missy she's fired and throws the purse with the dog her at her and leaves. Lots of twists, turns and oh my goodness the surprises that develop the whole thing is just pure chaos but, in the end the murderer is found. Great read.
Missy Gladstone is asked to be a judge at the LaChance High School Home Ec Bake-off. The other judges are the Home Economics teacher, Mrs. Dowler, and the school principal, Mr. Sanders. One of the contestants is Helen Chesman, a young lady who also works for Echo at Sweet Love Ice Cream. Helen's entry is a wonderful creation of a Peanut Butter and Jelly Cake with a buttercream frosting. Missy and Mr. Sanders give the entry high marks, but Mrs. Dowler has nothing but criticism for it. Mrs. Dowler's low marks result in Helen missing out on the award and the scholarship.
When Mrs. Dowler turns up dead and Helen disappears, she immediately becomes the prime suspect. Missy and Echo don't believe Helen is capable of murder and have their doubts about her guilt. Chas Beckett is concerned when Missy's house is broken into and vandalized.
Who killed Mrs. Dowler? Where is Helen? Why is Missy getting threats? Can Missy and Chas figure out the mystery?
Summer Prescott has a knack for making her characters very memorable, whether they are people you like or those best avoided. She has a way of keeping you guessing throughout the story and this book is no exception.
Well that's one way of getting out of planning a wedding. We get to meet the Mayor's daughter and might I say that she was written to be a piece of work. She gets along with Missy as well as oil and water combine. I must say though that the murderer wasn't terribly difficult to figure out. However, they were well thought out and explained. There was a few things that were left hanging at the end that I hope are explained more in the next book.
I did enjoy the way that they used the high school's bake off to jump off into the mystery. Given the Missy is a known baker it makes complete sense that she would be present at that even. This book again, does not have Missy in the hot seat, and for once her staff aren't being checked into.
I did enjoy how the relationship between Chas and Missy has grown over this book, and how cute they are together. This was a really fun little book to read.
Missy gets to judge a cooking competition at the local high school. When things don't go according to plan Missy wants to make the best of everything and try to make everyone happy. Of course death follows Missy Wherever She Goes. The storyline is entertaining oh, I just wish these stories were longer.
Truly loved it! More adventures for missy and chas and close to admitting their true feelings! Missy judges a name contest and one of the judges ends up being murdered. Chas has to find out who and girlfriend missy gets involved! I'm anxious for more of this series!!
This one was so good!! I loved the mystery and the character and relationship development between Missy and Chas! *sigh* I just love Chas to bits. Can’t wait to check out the next story!

Frosted Love Cozy Mysteries never fails to give a good story. Just a fun, no thinking required story. Missy always gets herself in a fix. I recommend this series.

Another fine mystery from author Carol Durand. I have enjoyed this series immensely, and love that a new book comes out every week! In this one, Missy has to find the person who killed a local High School teacher and is threatening to kill her as well. Is the person who it appears may be behind all of this really guilty or is she being framed for some less obvious reason? And will Missy find a way out of having to plan the wedding of the Mayor's majorly spoiled daughter? Read it and find out, then sign up for the author's email list and get the rest of the books for free when they first come out!
This series of novellas is finally getting me to warm up to them. The story just getting better with installment. Each book fellows the next, making the story lines continuing. In this installment Missy is asked to judge a baking contest at the local high school after which one,one of the other judges is murdered.
What a wonderful round about murder! More of the delicious cupcakes and a very interesting murder. Had some hints along the way and a surprise at the end. You will just eat up this great story!
This was a bit easier for me to figure out who the killer was. Something about them just rubbed me the wrong way from the beginning. Looking forward to book 10.
