Not all alpha males are assholes.

But the guy that messed up Tiffany’s self-image sure as hell was.

This beautiful, curvy woman has held my imagination captive since the day she started working with me.

She has no idea how gorgeous, powerful, and intelligent she is.

But that ruse is up.

I’m going to tell her. Show her. Press that truth upon her until she sees herself like I do.

I haven’t been with a woman since losing my wife around the holidays, but it’s time to give love a second chance. My son and I are ready to have a family again.

Now I just need to convince her to take a chance on me.

It’ll be the best decision of her life.

I’ll make sure of it.

Every good girl deserves a bad boy. ~ Weston

Yep. A turtle. You read that right. Don't be jealous.

You're going to find Billionaires, Bad Boys, Military Guys and loads of sexiness.

Something for everyone, hopefully. I'd love to connect with you. Check out the links below and come find me.

Tiffany and Cayden's story was so beautifully written! I loved how he never gave on her. I loved seeing that both fought for their relationship! That ending was really sweet! ❤

Sweet romance

Cayden is a single father, having lost his wife when his son was still a baby. His ongoing thoughtfulness and continued patience with Tiffany was displayed in sweet believable ways. Cayden was just a good guy, and a very relatable character, the kind of man every women dreams of meeting.

Tiffany is a beautiful survey women with deep insecurities rooted from a past relationship. Her character is one most women can empathize with as we all have things about ourselves that are hard to accept and like. Though this is a romance, her growth and eventual love of herself is the highlight of this book for me.

The only change I would make is in the love scenes. I'm a lover of steamy scenes, which these were, but there was some noticeable moments where the characters went from be apprehensive and unsure of one another to having sex. It tended to seem a little thrown in there.

Plot - 4/5

Heat - 3/5

Editing - 5/5

Character development - 5/5

Surprised this book was written by a man

Cayden talked like a girl and Tiffany was the worst, making chubby girls look bad. I really can not comprehend how this book was published and am grateful I did not pay for it. It reads like fan fiction written by an inexperienced tween. If you want to spend hours cringing, than go ahead and give this book a shot, but I hope I can save someone the trouble.

Take a Chance on Me was the first book I’ve read by Weston Parker. I was shocked to find a guy writing modern romance which is basically women’s lit and totally dominated by women authors other than Sparks. It makes me feel a little less unmanly for reading it. I did really enjoy Take A Chance on Me. It wasn’t brilliant, and it didn’t really bring anything new to the genre other than the sex of the author but it was enjoyable. Someone could have done a better job of proof reading this book as I found several grammatical errors and I’m not English prof.
Our heroine is Tiffany whom to be honest was so pathetic at the beginning of the book I wasn’t sure I could care enough about her to stick with the story. As the story opens Tiffany’s a-hole of a fiancée Brad is breaking up with her. He really is an absolute narcissistic, insensitive d-bag. Despite the fact that he treats Tiffany like crap and then tells her he’s breaking up with her because he’s cheating on her with someone who is far better looking, far better in bed and that she’s basically too fat and too unattractive to be seen on his arm and a dud in bed, she’s begging him to not leave her and try to work it out. How pathetic is that? Tiffany’s mother isn’t any better and between the two the poor woman has zero self-esteem.
Fast forward a year and Tiffany is now working as a fact finder for a publishing company based in Miami. Her managing editor/boss is hunky widowed single dad Ceyan. Even though Brad and her mother have referred to Tiffany as a whale because of her weight, Ceyan and many others at her new firm think she’s a Mae West like beauty. This book has a very strong message about body shaming and the advertising medias attempts to make everyone who isn’t a size 2 feel fat.
Even though I enjoyed this book I do have some criticisms with the plot. First and foremost since Ceyan is pretty much Tiffany’s boss how did he ever think it would be okay for him to hit on her in the work place and date her? Another is how in the world Tiffany still had feelings for the a-hole Brad after the way he treated her and after Ceyan had treated her like a princess and given her the best sex of her life? I get that they had been childhood friends and at one time had enjoyed a solid relationship. But things between them had gone sour long ago. Brad had not only broken up with her but he’d done so brutally . But when he calls to invite her to dinner to try and reconnect, she accepts his invitation? And lastly and this is just me I suppose but Ceyan and Tifffany have been on multiple dates, they’ve been sexually intimate multiple times but they both say they’re taking their relationship slow?
As I said at the beginning of this review a highly enjoyable if imperfect romance story with plenty of ups and downs to the romance and plenty of steamy sex and of course a H.E.A.

This is the story of a woman blossoming with love after an abusive relationship

Tiffany's life turned sour when her Dad died. At the same time her friend Brad, next door, also lost his dad and the two became close. He got extremely fit and she comfort ate. One drunken night he asks her to marry him despite the fact that he was emotionally abusive to her - always putting her down and so controlling, but she agrees. Her self esteem plummeted further as his abuse developed even further and one night- after a tortuous meal where he abused and ridiculed her at every chance he left her by saying that she was disgusting and that he'd been cheating on her for some time. Tiffany is the classic victim and still thinks that she loves him and can't believe that he won't be back for her. Always waiting for him and not believing that she is good enough. Her friend Mandy helps her with her getting out of the house and getting herself back on track to get a job - she slims down and begins to look after herself again. However, she is amazed and actually thinks she is being tricked when Cayden at work [tall, handsome no he is gorgeous] asks her out. Why would he want to go out with her? He's gorgeous and she's fat and ugly [not my words!!!!!]. But Cayden is very interested in the beautiful young woman and with tentative reservations she starts seeing him and the passion between them is off the scales. But she's still not over that creep Brad [I hated Brad!!!]
and Cayden has had his own sorrow in his life. Cayden is such a great influence on her but she makes a mistake. Will he forgive her? What on earth really makes a mother so abusive to her child?? Such great characters - I loved seeing how Tiffany started to 'blossom' and her friendship base was so strong. The concept of empowerment for women at work is fabulous but I know it definitely didn't happen where I worked [mores the pity] but so many would benefit form such support. Such naughty passion out in the open! Secluded beaches and I felt so sorry for Cayden's friend Allen. A classic example in the book why ebay is so popular with parents lol. A great story that I thoroughly enjoyed and recommend that you get your own copy and enjoy Weston Parker's latest romantic adventure. I received a reader's copy and voluntarily leave my honest opinion of it here.  DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED

How much verbal abuse could one person take before they become numb and not notice it anymore? Well, seven years apparently. Unfortunately, not by Tiffany’s choice either. No, it was, Brad her best male friend-boyfriend-fiancé who cut like a knife with the final blows.

You see back in the day they were next-door neighbors and their families even went on vacation together one time. But, back then she was a bean pole and more popular and he was overweight and on the sidelines. Tiffany always included him when she and her friends did things. You know best friends.

But when her dad died seven years ago she became stuck and over ate watching the TV program her dad and she always watched together. Two months later, Brad’s dad passed and she was there for him. But, then he got into running to release frustration even asked her to join him. She was, ‘Yeah, NO!’

Making the tables turn. She is now sixty pounds overweight, he is thinner and going to the gym. However, he is now super critical of Tiffany and her eating habits and calls her names. Then one drunken night without a ring he asks her to marry him. She is in wedding mode not letting his quips sting.

Until the day of the break up which, ends up breaking her. Depression only lasts so long before her bestie and RN call her on it. They started walking to get her mind off the breakup and on how life was still out there. Hence, now she has a new career, work friends, and a sexier-than-hell boss, Cayden is circling her.

Could her trying to punk her? Make her the joke of the office. Is he doing this to piss off his really thin girlfriend in the office? You name it she thought it. These may not have made the list yet, but give her time. Self-esteem issues are an understatement. But, a good man like Cayden under different circumstances can make a difference, during your darkest time.

I enjoyed the journey of this couple. Tiffany is overcoming an abusive relationship and Cayden is overcoming the passing of his wife. Both trying to maneuver the dating process, as well as, the feelings of intimacy being with a new partner. Very real and true especially with, Cayden being a dad.

A read about Cayden, a single father with a young son and Tiffany who works with him. Tiffany has been out of a relationship for over a year, a relationship where her ex berated, mentally and emotionally abused her. Her confidence was shattered and now after a year she is slowly gaining it back with the help of Cayden, who wants her. Cayden hasn’t wanted anyone after his wife died until Tiffany, he’s patient and good for her self confidence but she still thinks of the ex and what progress she has made, keeps slipping....will she finally let her past go.
A great read with steam and an amazing man, a man who isn’t a man wh***, who’s kind, patient and loving. There were some times in the story where to me it was a bit inconsistent, such as...only had his heart broken once in H.S. but what about when his wife died....his mom wants grandchildren but what about Austin and times when he would be thinking and it would seem like he forgets all about his son or it seemed like he didn’t have a son...confused me at times. Otherwise it was a great read, and I liked how Tiffany grew into her confidence and did I mention Cayden wasn’t a man wh***.

Chances Are...

I picked this up in Kindle Unlimited because I'm a true fan of Weston Parker's books. I must say though, Take a Chance on Me is not one of my favorites. First of all, I had to overlook a lot of grammatical errors. I don't believe I've ever had that problem with a Weston Parker novel before.🤔

Anyway, single dad, Cayden Lewis is an amazing character. He's charming, straight forward, honest and of course, sexy.

The FMC, Tiffany is beautiful and smart, but she definitely takes readers on a pity-party ride! I truly felt sorry for her in the beginning. Her mother is a drunk @#$%#. Her ex--wow!! That ex of hers is some piece of work! One word: @$$h***!!

Having insecurities the way she did is understandable, but Tiffany really needed to get out of her own way. She kept second-guessing herself, second-guessing Cayden. It was frustrating. Cayden was a sweetheart to keep putting up with her. If only she had seen herself through his eyes earlier on. Her support system was there in her best friend Mandy, and even her co-worker Nikki. But she kept letting her ex have too much control over her mind, and he wasn't even around. And poor Cayden! He just kept falling more and more in love with her.

I loved the story in many ways

But not all.
As soon as I read how her first boyfriend, Brad, treated her, and then how the second one, Cayden, treated her, I started to enjoy this story.
Unfortunately the crude language completely spoilt it for me. Here are actual extracts from the book to explain just how offensive the writing style actually is. As far as I am concerned, I would not choose to read another book by Weston Parker.
"She was right. If I told Cayden, he would be pissed and rightly so. “Plus, things went to shit with Brad,” Mandy said."
"You needed to know that Brad was an asshole and that you deserved better."
"I knew that once Tiffany and I were alone that I would want to fuck her."
"“Austin is going to lose his shit. He was so bummed that he didn’t get the purple dinosaur."
Eroticism on every second page is tawdry. Morals of alley cats.
At the same time, this book is tender and sweet, "This was a different kiss than before. This was a kiss of two people desperately in love with each other. This was two people who were willing to fight for each other."
Some readers might accept such low standards, but while the story was really good, I found the style offensive.

This was a cute story. I'm surprised it was written by a man. Men can write great mysteries, science fiction, suspense, adventure-you get the picture. But I rarely come across a good romance with good sex scenes that appeal to a woman, written by a man. Probably because the two species are so different in what we think and like. I know this probably sounds sexist, but it isn't really. Rather it's an acknowledgement of the differences between females and males - the way we think, feel and process things. It was nice to see male vulnerability from a male perspective. I admit, I sometimes get frustrated reading romance by female authors who write male characters as if they're female. We simply don't think the same way.

Anyway, this was a cute story and I enjoyed it. I liked the ending. I didn't like the character Brad. Not because he was inherently unlikeable but rather I felt he wasn't right. This guy was her friend from childhood and he turned into Mr. Macho A-hole Bully. It didn't fit for me. The transformation was too much. And for her to still be holding on to him for over a year after they split was unreasonable to me. I get the insecurities but not the rest. I really liked the ending.

Tiffany had been engaged to this total jerk, who cheated and put her down constantly. After a year she is working this job and the boss falls for her. Cayden thinks she is beautiful and sexy and wants to take her out. They start dating but Tiffany for whatever reason can’t get her ex Brad out of her head. She gets promoted and starts a empowerment group with fellow women who work in her office. Everything is going great with her until she decides to meet her ex for a date. Nothing changes Brad still puts her down and calls her a Whale as she is walking out on him at the restaurant. Cayden finds out while having Christmas dinner at her moms and he lives. They make up eventually. I always am usually on the side of the lady but this book had me wanting to slap some sense in to her. Overall a good read, totally enjoyed it.

Believe in yourself, don’t let others define you

This story was so relatable as a women who has struggled with her weight and self worth her entire life. Tiffany is a curvy, beautiful, intelligent, sexy young women who was in a very negative relationship where she was verbally abused about her weight and eating habits. She is a broken soul. Cayden is handsome, sexy man who works with Tiffany. Cayden is not necessarily looking for romance when he meets Tiffany at work but sparks fly. This is a story of love, friendship, and heartbreak. Weston does a great job addressing this real life story of feeling-inadequate. Definitely a five star read I won’t easily forget as I choose to live everyday to its fullest potential. These characters and the sensitive subject matter really makes the story believable.

formulaic and bland

I can’t tell you specifically what it was about the writing in this novel, but to me it felt very plastic, like I was watching a Barbie doll puppet show.

Part of the problem was that I really disliked Tiffany. She was such a dishrag until she got a boyfriend who thought she was hot, and then she became a femme fatale with all sorts of confidence, except with the people who really matter, like her ex-boyfriend and her mother. Basically, as long as Cayden keeps feeding her compliments, she’s fine.

Austin was a real sweetie, and I enjoyed watching he and his dad interact. Cayden’s both a good father and a pretty steadfast boyfriend, but he’s blind to Tiffany’s true personality. He can’t see past the boobs.

Just say no!

I've read books by this author before so I was hoping this would be a good read...I was wrong! Tiffany is belittled by her "fiancé" for years. He dumps her and she finds a good guy. She lacked confidence and yet I'm supposed to believe that in a very short period of time, she finds the courage to treat Cayden like she should've treated her ex. Then suddenly...BOOM! She's in charge of leading a womens empowerment group! Seriously, this book was awful, and honestly just didn't flow correctly. Intimate scenes were the same, just different location. So glad I have Kindle Unlimited because if I actually paid for this book, I'd be begging for a refund!

Confusing at times.

The story is a little hard to follow at times. At one point Cayden mentions something to Tiffany about his late wife toward the beginning the book to which she comments that she can't imagine having to go through something like that. Later he mentions his late wife by name and Tiffany seems confused and wonders if Layla is Austin's mom and what happened to her. Later when Cayden tells her about Layla, his late wife, and the details about her sickness and death she is surprised that he was ever married. It seems small but it left me wondering was Tiffany supposed to be a poor listener or was this just an oversight on the author's part.

I love reading Weston's stories, they are usually so well put together, but this one wasn't up there for me I'm afraid. The ARC I read felt like it hadn't been edited properly as not only were there typos, but at times it felt like two different books, for example one character seemed to cease existing for a period of time. Thankfully it seemed to sort itself out and the writing that I'm used to shone through. I didn't connect to the leads as I normally do but was pleased with how the book finished. I am voluntarily leaving this honest review after receiving an ARC.

Brilliant read again.

Well done again Weston. Really enjoyed this book.
Another excellent story. Really loved the characters and connections. Fell in love with Cayden, Tiffany and Austin.
A lovely heartwarming story of Cayden who was dealt a low blow of tragedy with the death of his wife and Tiffany who was in a relationship with a guy who constantly put her down and embarrassed her.
A truly lovely story of two people who had both had their hearts broken coming together for a HEA.
Well done again Weston.

Couldn’t finish

I stopped a couple chapters in for a couple of reasons.
1. If you have sex and the next day you receive a flower delivery on what universe would you think are they from an ex you haven’t seen in a year.
2. The author made her extremely insecure about her body. A point that was made a lot. There is no way on a third date would she suggest they go skinny dipping at a public beach then have sex in public.
At that point I checked the authors name because it sounded like a man wrote this story.

Take a Chance on Me is an inspirational book that follows curvy Tiffany through the end of a emotionally abusive relationship with a man who constantly puts her down and ends up cheating. As she picks up the pieces she meets Cayden, a single father whom is extremely attracted to her. As she struggles with believing Cayden wants her because her self image is destroyed she begins a personal journey back to loving herself and in turn falls in love with Cayden. There’s obviously drama, secrets and an ex but in the end she comes out the winner. Read through Kindle Unlimited

Yes, and No

I enjoyed the book. I loved the main male character, Cayden. He was great! The female character, Tiffany... was difficult to like . I have a huge problem with anyone, male, or female, who let themselves be abused and excuse it in the name of love. It bothered me, she has a fantastic man in her life, and she couldnt/wouldn't/didn't want to let go of the abusive ex?
Can you tell, this is a sore subject?
On the positive side, this is well written, and makes me wish there were more men like Cayden. Enjoy!

Great read about overcoming insecurities of past relationships, poor body image and moving on.

When Tiffany's boyfriend left her for an other woman, she felt humiliated and insecure. So imagine her surprise when her co-worker Cayden takes an interest in her. At first she thinks he's only interested in her because of a bet or joke. Cayden is a widowed, single dad who hasn't looked at a women in years but the curvy Tiffany has him taking notice and working hard to convince her to give them a chance.

Wow

If I could give this book a 0 star rating, I would. I found the main character to be unbelievably manipulative which just astounded me because she came from an abusive relationship. She used the main male character. I actually hoped for a different ending, because the one I got just made me mad. I think if the roles were reversed and the male character showed that kind of manipulative behavior towards the female character, we would’ve all been furious. I actually felt really bad for the male character. I wish he ended up with a different character entirely.

Captivating

As always. Weston grasps you from beginning to end! I will say this as an overweight person he really hit the head on the nail with this story. A lot of us go through the shaming weather in a coupled relationship, friendships or even families! This story really hit home for me and gives hope to those who feel ashamed and a shell of a person!! But this story ends with a HEA!! Trust me no matter your shape, color or size there is always an HEA in everyone’s life❤️

Take A Chance On Me!

I am in love with Weston Parker's books. I loved the heroine in this story. She found herself struggling after her long term relationship ended. These characters were so lovable. Both of them took a chance on each other and found themselves with a great relationship in the end. I really loved the empowerment aspect of the book. Great job and highly recommend reading this book.
