An old nemesis reappears set on claiming Meghan as his own, and determined to settle old scores. Beyond the nearly centuries-old feud, a gypsy witch seeks to complete a bargain made, one which was reneged by the very man intent upon stealing Meghan for himself. She wants payment, he wants revenge, and Marku Anghelescu wants Meghan. The question is, will she survive or will her life end at the hands of a jilted and jealous man? Darkest Communion is a seductive journey into superstition, gypsy folklore, obsession, and dark desires...
Michele E. Gwynn is a former online content writer and journalist. Having written for magazines and newspapers, she finally decided to go for her dream and wrote her first fiction novel Harvest in 2011. Since then, she has published in a variety of genres from science fiction to crime thrillers to paranormal and contemporary romance, even three children's books. She has won a variety of awards and achieved bestseller listings including Amazon UK and Amazon US (for Darkest Communion and Sophie's Wish). Michele’s series include the Harvest Trilogy, Angelic Hosts (now exclusive to Gwynn's Substack), the Checkpoint, Berlin Detective Series, Green Beret series, and the Soldiers of PATCH-COM. She has also penned several standalone novels such as Darkest Communion, Queen’s Island (now available as a FREE bonus book on her website), Waiting a Lifetime, and Hiring John.
Michele has always been a very creative person with an appreciation of twisty plots, one heck of an imagination, and a desire to talk about important social issues such as the recurrent theme in her award-winning “Checkpoint, Berlin” detective series which focuses on human trafficking. Given her passion for social issues and justice, she strives to create good but flawed characters that often fall short of their own ideals. Her wish is to engage, inspire, and entertain her readers with intelligent plots sprinkled with humor, real-world facts, a hint of steam, and a touch of romance.
Darkest Communion is a steamy, vampire romance with several sexy and sensual intimate scenes (definitely a 5 out of 5 chili pepper rating). I really enjoyed this novel and the setting is exotic (Bucharest, Romania) and interesting. The characters are engaging; Mark (Marku) Anghelescu, the hero, is tall, dark, and seductive, Meghan, the heroine, is sweet and innocent, and Petre, the antagonist, is suitably villainous, creepy, and stalker-ish. The novel is well-paced and has a solid plot, but the twist at the end surprised me. The ending is HEA, and the action really heats up, and builds to a thrilling conclusion. Overall, this is a thoroughly entertaining story and I highly recommend it.
3.5 rounding to 4. I'm in between liked it and really liked it. This story had a lot I liked, specially the characters. Mark (Marku), the 800 year old vampire was just how I like my vampires to be. He was strong and super in love with Meghan (Mihaela). I also liked Meghan, she was fun and very much like how a young woman behaves in this social media world we live in now. Also she reacted how a normal person from this century would when told vampires exist. The insta-love was believable because of their past and the story which was something I actually loved. The villain was a bit creepy, like stalker creepy but I liked the story behind how he came to be there and how he was involved in some of the things that happen in the story. I also liked the gypsies, they were a big united family. {{{Bit of a SPOILER ahead}}} The only problem I had with the story was that I like my vampires to stay vampires. I cannot say anything else without posting a big spoiler. But this is where the story lost a star from me. I'm sure what happens in the end won't be a major issue with anyone else but it was not how I wanted the story to end. It does have a HEA, just not the perfect HEA for me. A good story with a hot vampire. What else can you ask for? Would recommend to my vampire loving friends.
A vampire story that takes you back to the days of Dracula and the beginning of the Vampire scourge in Romania; although I love vampires and would die to become one.)
This story begins with Marku Anghelescu, he is an 800 trying to find the love of his past human life. They had grand plans for a life of love and leisure since he was heir to a large land tract and money. The only problem with his love is she belongs to a band of gypsies and Marc's father forbids him to marry Mihaela. Plans were made to run away together but some one intercedes. And Marc turns very evil in his quest to find her.
Later in his vampire life, he comes across a young lady, Meghan Hartley, who is an exact copy of his beloved Mihaela. And the game is on.
This is a good story. It does not rely on fancy vampire families, wars other clans, or changing lots of others with his bite. Marc must rely on his smarts, his love for a love lost, and persuading others to join his quest even though they are sworn enemies.
I liked the pace of this book, the writing was quite good, and the author showed that fancy dressings aren't needed to write a very good story.
