The Wicker Woman: The Strange Transformation of Georgiana Snipes

Rate this book
Georgiana Snipes has a ‘drug and alcohol problem’ to phrase it in the parlance of the times. A brilliant musician from an abusive upbringing in Brooklyn, Georgiana has a stormy past and a very uncertain future. When Willem Furey awakens on the floor of Morgan’s warehouse in Manhattan, with no money, identification or any idea how he got there, he has no choice but to follow Georgiana on a weird and unfolding adventure. After an old fortuneteller refers to her as the Wicker Woman, they realize a dire fact, that her addictions and wild behavior has reached critical mass. The novel is about her strange and enigmatic transformation back into becoming a human being and the inhabitants of Maison Magenta are inextricably drawn into the morass. Meanwhile, the hideous man without eyes continues to relentlessly stalk Willem, culminating in a horrendous confrontation. The Wicker Woman is the third book in The Shade series, M. E. Nyberg’s ongoing series about the invisible side of existence and it’s strange, mystifying and oft times unnerving effects upon the living.

This is Book is about many things, life, music, spiritual thought and yeah some scary aspects about reality in the material world and the way we look out for each other. Georgiana is a metaphor for ten plus years touring rock and roll so she takes you backstage, into the backstage world. She also takes you into the hardcore nitty gritty of being a gifted artist with addictions.

Lucky for her, she's got friends. If you or anyone you truly love is struggling with addiction or inner demons, this is a soothing (but exciting) journey into that up-and-down world. You travel, you cry a little, you struggle yea and let go...there's a big mysterious universe out there but according to this book...you've got friends.

I wish I had aunts like the Scottish twins Vivian and Vanetta and mentors like Monique Montaigne and Binford Grayson...well, maybe I do...they're here in this book. Take a journey into the mystery...but bring friends.
