The Omega Team #7

Guarding Jenna

Rate this book
Jenna Daniels grew up in a world of great wealth and privilege. Powerful men and women from all over the country attended the lavish parties that her stepfather hosted on their Montana ranch. But the night of one party, one of those men crept into her bedroom, blindfolded her and viciously raped her, threatening to kill her if she spoke out. Years of therapy have helped her deal with it but she still freezes at the thought of an intimate relationship. Now she’s a true crime writer specializing in unsolved rape cases, determined to find others similar to hers and track down the rapist. When she uncovers several committed over the past fifteen years, she knows she must return to Montana to find her answers.

Medically discharged after twelve years in the SEALs, Scott Nolan doesn’t know what to do with himself. There’s not much in civilian life for a former sniper. Then a friend puts him in touch with Hank Patterson who heads Brotherhood Protectors and he feels as if he’s found a home again. He’s just finished his first assignment when Hank receives a call from Grey Holden, head of The Omega Team in Tampa, who asks him to have someone keep an eye on Jenna. Good thing, too, because she’s hardly settled into her rental cabin before someone leaves a threatening note under her windshield followed up by a dead skunk on her doorstep with another note.

Good thing the cabin has two bedrooms because Hank insists Scott move in with Jenna so he can monitor her twenty-four/seven. As Jenna gets closer to finding her answers, the attempts on her life increase. But is she in more danger from the unknown person or from Scott, himself a tortured soul but who wakens feelings she is afraid to face may be the only one who can get past her emotional fear and teach her how to love?

Guarding Jenna is a story that has every element a reader wants: suspense, danger, mystery and a whole lotta hotness!! Jenna Daniels has made a life for herself, despite her past, becoming a well renowned author. When her last resurfaces and she knows she has to do something to help all the women affected, including herself, a trip back to her hometown has her coming face to face with Former Navy Seal, now Body Guard for the Brotherhood Protectors. And boy does she enjoy that face....

Scott knew he was in for a mess of trouble when the one person to get his pulse to speed up is his new client. He knows his number one priority is to protect her; but acting as her boyfriend in that role can OBVIOUSLY have its benefits if taken to that very level. And holy hotness was it taken to that level!!!

Guarding Jenna had me on the edge of my seat from the beginning to the very end. Desiree Holt does it again with this amazingly hot thriller that you will want to read more than once!!

I started this series at the end not the beginning, so I decided to go to the very beginning. This is the first of two prequels to the Heroes Rising series written by Desiree Holt in the Brotherhood Protectors World.

This book opens a whole can of worms as Jenna Donovan realizes she has to go back to Montana and flush out the evil there. The emails she received brought back memories better left buried. She couldn't in good conscience ignore them. After a flashback to the trauma she experienced that had her fleeing when she turned eighteen discusses what she's going to do with her friend Gray Holden. Head of the Omega Team he arranges for Brotherhood Protectors to provide a bodyguard for her, Scott Nolan will pretend to be her boyfriend. Although Jenna protests, Gray is adamant that she needs the protection as going there would probably make her a target.

The closer Jenna gets to her hometown in the Crazy Mountains of Montana the worse the flashbacks become. She manages to get the panic under control before she pulls into the area of the cabin she's rented. There she gets the first look at Scott.

They gain attention from the start by going into town, Jenna's recognized by a woman she believes may have written the email that got her here.

From a very uncooperative sheriff, to a group of women who like her hadn't reported the rape and threats to them years ago, the suspense ramps up quickly.

Jenna does indeed become a target, but Scott isn't going to let anything happen to her. His attraction to her and hers to him heats up gradually but intensely.

I'm already reading the second prequel before I continue with the rest.

It was good, but the spelling mistakes and plot mistakes were terrible.

Jenna was brutally raped when she was 14, or 15. Over the years she’s struggled to move on with her life, until she receives an email begging her to investigate rapes and murders in the town. When she goes back into town, her friend has arranged a bodyguard for her, which she hates having. Scot is an ex navy seal, who is quite closed off at first and unemotional. When Jenna starts investigating and is warned off, Scot vows to protect her. Of course they start to fall in love and he’s brilliant with her. I did love that.

I really enjoyed this book, but….. The numerous plot mistakes really ruin it.
The biggest mistake is the plot of the book doesn’t match the book. There’s no dead skunk, or threatening note!!! 😡😡😡 I feel cheated!
Jenna’s mother died when she was 18. Then later on Jenna’s thinking that she won’t bump into her mom or stepdad in town, as they don’t shop there!
Jenna was raped at fourteen, then she’s fifteen.
I still don’t know how old she is. As she said it had been fourteen years since it happened, so she’s 28. Then she says it’s been fourteen years since she’s seen her stepdad, when her mom died. So she’s 32??
Then there’s the numerous spelling mistakes, and words just slotted into sentences that shouldn’t be there. In one sentence the word; Wow, is in the middle of it.
One final point. I really wish that these books had more danger in. They just get going and then it’s the end.

It’s not the best book ever, but I did enjoy it.

Guarding Jenna: Brotherhood Protectors World is by Denise Holt. This is a novella but has a huge punch to it. It is quick to read and fulfills all the excitement expected in Holt’s books.
Jenna Donovan is going back home; to follow a story. She had been getting emails about girls being raped then killed. She just knew it was the same man who raped her when she was in high school. Jenna has never gotten over this but has never been back to the ranch either since her Mother died. Her friend, Grey Holden won’t let her go without backup. He contacts his friend, Hank Patterson, who sends his guy, Scot Nolan to pretend to be her boyfriend. Although Jenna is against the ides, she agrees to it to put Grey’s mind at ease. She is determined to find the monster who is still raping and killing young girls and the winter weather. Will Jenna find the attacker or will she just fall under the spell of the ranch and stay here? Why does the spark between herself and Nolan wo wants to find out?

Jenna has received some emails and goes back to her hometown to confront her demons. This book deals with a sensitive topic and the evils of six men. Jenna is convinced to have a bodyguard and meets her at the cabin she rented. Scott works for Hank Patterson. Jenna hasn't had a relationship being too traumatised by what happened to her. It has taken years of therapy to deal with it. When Jenna begins to investigate, she gets warning to leave it be. Jenna is well aware that anyone who comes forward was murdered but this has been going on too long. During this time spent together, Scott gains Jenna's trust and they fall for each other starting a relationship. When they suspect they have enough information, they set a trap. The culprit caught is quite sick in what he believes. Soon all six are caught even if the book doesn't go into it. To me it is enough that they were caught and the victims can know that their attackers can't come after them again.

Normally I enjoy this author, her books are very enjoyable and easy to read. However this book left me very disappointed. When you join a series with such an amazing author as Elle James - her brotherhood protector series - its a slap in the face to her to change the names of her original characters! Hank Patterson's wife has been SADIE from the very beginning and yet this author felt she could change it to Sophie. Add in all the other editing errors and the book was very disappointing. The only good part was it had a new story line - but yet she left the end kinda hanging out there. SPOILER: Yes they caught the Sheriff but only hinted at arresting the rest of the men. Why couldn't she add in another chapter and go on about their arrest and closure for the many parents instead of leaving it hanging....

I've been a fan of Desiree's for a while now. I was disappointed when she left you hanging at the end. What about the other men? There were quite a few editing errors (I would love to be a beta reader for you). Jenna was raped when she was a teenager. Now almost two decades later, she is hell bent on finding out who did this. Scot was medically discharged from the Navy. Now he works for Hank, who heads the Brotherhood Protectors. Scot is hesitant to take the job but soon discovers his attraction to Jenna. Will they be able to find the killer in time before he strikes again?

The story was good, as are all her books.

I really enjoyed this book, and the second one involving this story line. I think the second one was better, because of some editing problems. I have noticed in more than one of her books that the story isn't always consistent. In one section of the story something will happen and then belittle later in the story the person the story is about will repeat what was previously said in a manner that makes it seem like he/she is telling like it is the first time

Jenna & Scott

Oh My! I loved this book. Jenna Daniels went thru such a traumatic experience and lived to, of all things, write about true crime. But now she needs help, and Grey Holden of The Omega Group calls Hank Patterson for help and he sends Scott Nolan, former SEAL & sniper, from the Brotherhood Protectors. I was could not put it down because I had to see what happened next, it was so exciting. Desiree Holt was amazing in keeping you on the edge of your seat in this book.

quick read

All good for a quick read

Jenna goes back to her home town after a cryptic email further opens emotional wounds she’s trying to recover from.
Scot is her designated bodyguard while she goes back to investigate.
Being in close proximity to one another reveals an attraction neither expected but can they get through her investigation in to what happened to herself and others.

This was a decent quick read. Few grammatical errors and lapses in continuity. Doesn’t detract though.

Jenna grew up with wealth with her mother and step dad who she hates. When she was a teen she was raped in her own home. Now almost 2 decades later she is back to find out who did it and about 9 girls who were murdered trying to do the same. Her friend Grey got in touch with Hank and asked for protection. Kind of slow for me, sure it's steamy even for a rape victum before they can get to the heart of the problem. There were some errors as well. For instance, Sadie is Hanks wife not Sofie.

Jenna

Expertly written with some old and new characters. Jenna was raped as a young girl now years later the bad guy is still at it. Her mission is to find out who did it. Scott is sent to protect her. Between the two there's action aplenty. It touches on what a victim suffers, the nightmares, trauma, fears that can last for years or even a lifetime. There is some sexual content.

I like reading Desiree Holt books this was pretty good not as good as her last brother hood book I wish she would have gotten Sadie's name right and I would have liked more closure to find out what happened to the other men and who they were also to give the others girls and their families closure maybe 1 more chapter but all in all good story

GREAT AND INTENSE THRILLER

What an intense and thrilling mystery. Years of rape and murder without any capture or conclusion. Although a short story, the pages are filled with tons of information and possible clues when the ending rapidly appears. Much speculation of the identity but still a surprise when finally revealed.

I think the author needs a better proof reader, the sheriff's name kept changing, there were numerous spelling mistakes etc etc.

I also struggle with the timeline of the story and how quickly Jenna goes from being completely traumatised to falling in love. I also don't think her skills as an investigative journalist were demonstrated so the story fell flat for me.

Guarding Jenna: Brotherhood Protectors World

Another great book. This was a fantastic story of how a crime of rape can make a person feel. A child who is raped with no way of protecting herself has a lot to over come.

Jenna was a good character and I was happy to see how she decided to face her demons and help others. Scott was assigned to pr0tect her and pose as her boyfriend. Plenty going on in this small town as she investigates a long history of rape and murder. Loved it!

Overall a good read. Grabbed my attention from the beginning. Both main characters had closed themselves off for there own reasons. Plenty going on twist and turns and some heat. My only complaint is that I wished was just a bit longer. A little more closure on a couple of things.

Intriguing romance/mystery story

Great book for anyone looking for a fast, light read. The characters feel real and their chemistry makes it easy to root for them. The mystery wasn’t exactly Agatha Christie complicated, but fans of the author will be more than satisfied.
