Jean Dufauxin ja Grzegorz Rosińskin sarjaa Kadonneiden nummien valitus käännettiin suomeksi kahden teosparin verran. "Dame Gerfaut" - "Kyle of Klanach" (WSOY, 2004/5) on edeltäjiensä tavoin ihan mukiinmenevää fantasiasarjakuvaa. Synkeitä piirteitä saavassa tarinassa olisi ollut aineksia vielä parempaan, mutta loppuhuipennus jää vähän puolitiehen. Kuvitus on ihan tyylikästä.

Het tweeluik 'De Klaagzang van de Verloren Gewesten' bleek midden jaren '90 zo fenomenaal goed te verkopen dat men er maar een vierluik van heeft gemaakt (om wat later te beslissen het nóg verder uit te rekken). Persoonlijk vond ik dit derde deel nog best goed, zeker beter gestructureerd dan de eerste twee delen. De cliffhanger is er één die kan tellen.

Recenzja dla całego oryginalnego dyptyku (komiksy 1-4 cyklu).
Kreska Rosińskiego zachwyca jak dawniej. Scenariusz Dufaux daje radę, ale ani Van Hamme ani Duchâteau to to nie jest. Wolałem drugą część dyptyku (zeszyty 3-4), bo nie wymagała tyle wprowadzenia w historię i bohaterów i miała więcej konfliktu i dynamizmu (również w strukturze narracji). Najslabszym zeszytem wydaje się być dwójka, gdzie ma się wrażenie mocnej kompresji i przyśpieszenia fabuły, żeby się zmieścić z końcówką.
Wydanie Egmonta w twardej oprawie rewelacyjne.

Kadonneiden nummien valitus jatkuu uudella kaksiosaisella tarinalla, joista tämä on ensimmäinen osa. Miljöö ja taide ovat edelleen hienoa ja tunnelmallista. Tarinaa on paha arvioida, sillä se jää tässä albumissa vielä pahasti kesken…

I'm getting sick of this "Read 2 times" goodreads error- isn't everyone else? It's gone on longer than makes sense. All this advertising, that you have to wait to pop up in your way, should pay the right nerd to do the thing already.

Set in the land of Eruin Dulea, somewhere that wouldn’t look out of place alongside Winterfell, this third volume sees that some time has passed since Siobhán took the throne and a degree of peace and prosperity has settled under her rule. Séamus remains at her side as her protector and advisor, and it’s while riding with him through a nobleman’s land that they seek shelter in the local keep and discover a man, Kyle of Klanach, shamed by the dishonour brought upon him by his father’s actions. Siobhán is immediately taken with him although she does not reveal her true identity as she encourages him to attend court.
Meanwhile the son of another house is seeking power on behalf of his sinister mother who wants to see her family take the throne, and it’s through her plotting that Siobhán faces her greatest danger as black magic threatens to return to haunt her.
This volume raises the stakes considerably in terms of creativity and storytelling compared to the last, making for an engaging read from the off-set. For me, what really sells this book and brings the entire tale bursting off the page is Rosinski’s artwork, gloriously capturing the nuances of a bygone era from the banners hanging from a castle chamber’s ceiling to the dress of the populace, from the castles and keeps in their windswept locations to the gnarled and twisted forests where they hunt mhombas. Dufaux’s dark undercurrent to the narrative pulses on Rosinski’s page, creating something that is both beautiful and eerie.
The conclusion wasn’t quite what I’d anticipated at all, so looking forward to where they plan to take this next.

La couverture et très belle, bien décorée avec de jolis dessins joliment colorés.
Dans ce tome, nous rencontrons de nouveaux personnages, dont un qui sera un des piliers de cette histoire.
Pour notre plus grand bonheur, nous retrouvons Sioban quelques années après la fin qui s’est déroulée dans le tome précédent. Nous la retrouvons plus mature et avec beaucoup plus de charisme. Elle a plus de pouvoir et de nombreuses choses ont changé au château.
Nous retrouvons également Seamus auprès de Sioban. Il est très gentil avec elle et se préoccupe de son bien-être.
Il y a une chose que nous pensions bannie à jamais, mais c’était sans compter sur de nombreux rebondissements.
Nous retrouvons Ouki, ce petit être qui nous fait tant sourire.
Nous sommes surpris de revoir la mère de Sioban et pas seule cette fois-ci.
Encore une fois, nous savons que le mal n’a pas fini de faire parler de lui. Nous sentons arriver une romance, mais nous sommes très vite énervés de voir le déroulement final de ce tome.
De ce fait, nous avons envie de lire rapidement le prochain volume.
Est-ce que j’ai aimé ce livre ?

J’ai été heureuse de retrouver Sioban quelques années plus tard, de la voir s’affirmer et être plus femme.
J’ai vraiment hâte de lire la suite, même si la fin m’a un peu énervée.

This is the third album of Jean Dufaux and Grzegorz Rosinski's series Lament of the Lost Moors, and it is set a while after the previous album,
Blackmore
. Queen Siobhan, travelling incognito with Séamus, pleads hospitality from the the nobleman Kyle of Klanach, a disgraced house, as his father refused to aid the White Wolf at the great battle of Nyr Lynch, and the foundation of a friendship, maybe more, is laid. Meanwhile, Lady Gerfaut, of an older family in good standing, is set on seeing her own line, via her son Prince Gerfaut, gain more power; and she relies on witchcraft and a mythical magic potion to set her plans in motion.
This album starts a new two-album arc in the first cycle of the series, and introduces a few new characters, while returning to some of the already established ones. There are new intrigues, but also a lingering of old evils, in the plot, and Rosinski's art realises the mythical world in which these play out.
The series as such continues to deliver, and the read was very enjoyable indeed.

Since the first storyline had concluded in the 2nd volume, this next arc is simpler, resting on the previous entries well founded lore, and creates a new lovely and entertaining plot line. Even greater dark fantasy vibes from this one and also a perfect cliffhanger; very excited to see how the series ends.

Premier tome du deuxième diptyque consacré à la complainte des landes perdues. dame Gerfaut décide, pour devenir la reine du pays, de faire épouser Sioban à son fils dégénéré. Elle est prête, pour cela, à user des pires moyens, y compris la plus noire des magies...
