She said one night. He said more. She should’ve known better than to argue with a lawyer.
Ava Callaghan was never going to be just one night. She was going to be more, much more. She just didn’t know it yet.
Hotshot lawyer Elijah Ward can’t be interested in his friends’ and colleagues’ little sister. With his long-term relationship over, he isn’t looking for anyone, including off-limits Ava Callaghan with her long blonde hair and zest for life that eclipses everyone around her. She’s the daughter of his old boss and the sister of his new one – not a good career move.
She and Elijah can be for one steamy night only. Settling down isn’t on Ava’s agenda: the only thing she’s planning on settling is the foundations to another refurbishment project.
But one night is never going to be enough, not when Eli has as much mastery in the bedroom as the courtroom, and Ava has to decide whether it’s worth changing the space around her so there’s room for him.
A life-changing incident, family shenanigans and a persistent ex-girlfriend are enough to persuade anyone to close the door and walk away. But Eli isn’t the type to let what he wants walk off with his heart.
Eli Ward argues a good case for making their space a joint one. The question is will she let him win?
Wow every time I think I love a Callaghan I get the next story and change my mind We knew from the Payton’s book that something was going on with Eli and Ava. Now we get their full story. I loved it! Eli is hot and got Ava from day one. She never had to sacrifice herself for him. The sex scenes were super hot! We still get the full family in here along with some more insight into Callum. And a tie in to Severton which I screamed at! Bring on the next book which I wish was Seph’s but let’s be honest he isn’t ready
Ava's story fits right in with those of her siblings, since each book to date has been fantastic. I'm not going to give too much away, but Ava finds a man a bit older than her and who is well-known to her siblings. Things are hot and heavy for these two from the beginning, except they told each other they wanted a no-strings fling. Trouble is sometimes everything you want is exactly what you claimed you didn't. Ava's guy is a keeper and it probably takes her a little too long to figure that out -- which is about as true to life as you can get because how often do we really know what we want, even when it's staring us in the face.
Ava gets a scare in this book -- the sort of scare that no girl wants to have. It was a difficult subject and Dyer handled it with her usual grace and finesse. I'd give it even more stars if I could.
Changing Spaces is Ava & Eli's story, which was hinted at in the previous book. See, Eli is an attorney who works with Ava's brothers & sister, so she's off limits to him, not to mention, he's a tad bit older than her as well. However, they have some serious chemistry, you know the kind, it seeps out of your kindle while waiting for it to detonate. So they decide on working it out for one night, and boy, what a night it was! They set the sheets on fire! But when you have that much chemistry, one night is never enough, so of course they can't stop themselves as they rinse & repeat. What follows is some fun times, family drama, silliness from an ex-girlfriend, you know, all the stuff that makes me turn the pages quickly as the colorful metaphors came flying out of my mouth! Obviously that means that the cast of secondaries is just as amazing as Ava & Eli, which is always a bonus in my book! Annie Dyer is so addictive with her stories, and this family is crazy awesome, so I've fallen in love with them! I CANNOT WAIT for more, and I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND TO ALL!
Eli and Ava have a bit of an age difference. She’s also the opposite of everything her family is. She wants everything her way, on her own, on her own terms. She is driven, honest and also hot for her brother’s friend Elijah. Eli and her have an agreement, one night, but then it turns to 2 nights then 3...
Elijah is coming out of a relationship. Ava is sort of the opposite of a relationship type gal. She is what you call a busy body in everything life. But there is something about Elijah that she wants to slow down for. This was my first Annie Dyers read, and I’m so interested in reading all her siblings now. This book had a little twisty turn, but all quite kept me interested. Their chemistry was uber intense, HOT and sexy. They got their HEA and that puts a smile on my face.
I do believe this pair are familiar to those who’ve read previous books from Ms Dyer, however this was my first book of hers, anyway this is the story of Ava and Eli. Eli works with Ava’s brother, he’s also a good few years older than her, some would maybe class her as being off limits yet it doesn’t stop Eli from getting down and dirty with her. It was only supposed to be one night however sparks fly between the pair, they share an amazing chemistry which makes them unable to say no to a repeat performance time and time again which ensures plenty of fun times ahead there’s also some drama thanks to family an the dreaded "ex-girlfriend" makes an appearance too.
With a whole host of brilliantly written characters this book was a refreshing read, I’m off now to check out the authors other books, if they’re half as good as this one I know I’m in for treat.
Annie Dyer did it again. She wrote a soulful story with layers of love, passion, family and friendship. I loved the characters. I loved the writing and storyline. It checked all my boxes for a great romance!
Changing Spaces is basically falling-for-your-best friend's sister story. Eli and Ava knew each other forever as Eli worked as Lawyer with Ava's siblings. What started as one night stand soon becomes friends with benefits and next come true feelings. I adored Ava so much! She is independent, smart, funny and sexy. Eli is the perfect man for her. I swooned over him for real. Lawyer, rugby player, cook, family man and so many more feathers in his crown. Both of them are passionate about work and family. And in spirit of true romance stories, they would have some big issues and stupid little mistakes. The dual POV was amazing as the author is expert in putting heavy dose of fun in the conversations. The writing is clean, crisp and smooth. I like her cinematic writing from her previous books and this book was no exception. I felt like standing in the set of a good old rom com. The steamy part of the story was handled expertly. Reading about the family and friends was another huge positive point for this book.
Changing Spaces was a superbly written sweet, sexy and intense romance. It was charismatic. It has this feel good vibe all through the story. Eli and Ava's story won my heart easily.
What a fantastic book!! This is the first book that I have read in this series by Annie Dyer, as soon as I finished Changing Spaces I went and bought the other 4 books in the series!! Changing Spaces can be read as a stand alone but I recommend reading the series in order but that is just me!! This is Elijah and Ava's story and what an amazing story it is!! This book has a hot alpha and a sweet woman, there is romance, twists, turns, action, secrets and my favorite a treasure hunt!! I highly recommend this book and the series you will not be disappointed!! I can't wait for her next book!!
Annie Dyer slayed me with two of the most beautiful characters I've ever met!
Eli Ward and Ava Callaghan were meant to be a one night stand. A way for Eli to get over someone by getting under someone else, and a hot new man for Ava.
Suddenly one night turns into four and Eli knows he's hooked. Ava knows he's turned her head, but what if he wants everything right now?
When tragedy strikes will it tear them apart, or force them closer together? Will the entire Callaghan clan come together to smother the baby of the family again? And what in the world is going on between Callum and Grant?
This book gave me all the emotions at once. I laughed, and cried and raged for Ava and Eli to get their HEA. Worth way more than 5🌟's and probably my favourite book of Annie Dyer's to date!
Oh Annie where have you been all my life? LOL. Every time I pick up one of your books it's an escape for me from the stress and struggles of real life and just getting to drool and fantasize about these sexy Callaghan Green men is something I am rather quite happy to do. This is Book 5 in the Callaghan Green series and this time we get Ava and Eli's story and oh boy it's AMAZING. It's full of some smoking hot sexy times, an annoying ex-girlfriend and plenty of family drama from Jackson & Vanessa, Killian & Claire, Max and Victoria and Peyton & Owen. Let's not forget Callum and Seth too.
Eli is a lawyer and he works with Ava's brothers and sister and to him Ava is off limits. He also isn't looking for anything long term, Ava isn't planning on settling down either. They agree on one steamy night. That's when things get messy as they both realise that one night is never enough and get it on with some combustible chemistry in the bedroom and the courtroom. Eli is a little older than Ava - he is a sweet, tender gentle loving man who is devoted to her in every way.
We find out a little more about Callum (Book 6) and Seth (Book 7 - which doesn't come out till November) and I cannot wait to see who their other half is.
Annie your stories with this family just get better and better and I have a serious book hangover waiting for Book 6 and Book 7.
Although each book can be read as a standalone I highly recommend you to start from the beginning with Engagement Rate. I'm sure Annie will become one of your favourite go to authors she is definitely one of mine.
The Callaghan-Green series continues with the story of Ava, the baby sister. Gorgeous interior designer and house flipper, Ava has been spoiled and protected by her family since birth. She proved her independence by going to New York for college and not becoming a lawyer and unlike her older siblings, she's also not ready to settle down. She's young and vivacious and wants to live freely. Eli is a lawyer in her family's law firm, older and recently single. He's perfect company the night of her brother Jackson's wedding, except Eli keeps turning up and going home with Ava. It's just fun, they're just friends having a good time. Is that enough? Is the age difference a factor? What will her family think, if she reveals their secret? After reading Between Cases I couldn't wait to see this story unravel. I love the development of each familiar character. We get more insight into the antics of Callum and Seph, the love Marie and Grant have for the kids, the sassytude of Claire, and figuring out how many husbands Simone has had. I'm anxious for their stories as well. A must read series!
This book 🤗🤗🤗🤗!!!!!Annie Dyer, your books just keep getting better! I love Ava and Eli's story just as much as I love the others. Ava, being the baby of the Callaghan-Green family, has everyone looking after her. However, she just wants to show everyone that she's capable of taking care of herself. She is a fun, warmhearted, and strong young lady. Eli is a strong bad-ass lawyer that works for the family law firm. The day Jackson and Vanessa got married, Ava and Eli decided to have a one night stand. But for whatever reason, they just couldn't stay away from each other and they eventually ended up in each other's arms once again. Ava went through a rough time and Eli tried to be there for her, but she needed some space... until she could finally see what was in front of her and she took the next step in their relationship. Ava and Eli are made for each other and they fit perfectly with the Callaghan-Green family.
Changing Spaces A Callaghan Green Novel Annie Dyer
“If I had been in a bar or a club, or even at a function where my brother had not just committed himself to the most perfect woman for him, I’d have removed the hand from my hip and potentially from Bradley’s wrist too. But violence, so my mother had told me, was not on tonight’s agenda.” Ava is fierce, fun and headstrong. The baby of the large Callaghan family, she is in her mid twenties and a successful business woman. Eli is 35, far from a boy. It was meant to be one night at her brother’s wedding, but he couldn’t get her out of his head. “One night. We’d said it would be one night. I was too old for her, nearly ten years older and the same age as her eldest brother who I worked for.” Why is Ava scared of commitment and admitting she wants more? Why does Eli let her get away with it? I love that these characters are so real, professionals who are in their 20’s/30’s and mature, this is the case for all of the Callaghan’s. They are wealthy but this is not an issue or reward which is great. Ms Dyer writes so well it consumes you and places the characters like friends and colleagues, she gives enough details to make you invest but not so much that they become tedious or boring. The story just flows. Annie Dyer can do no wrong, I loved this book. And have enjoyed each book in the Callaghan Green series (as well as Sleighed), each reads as a stand-alone novel with hea but they all firmly sit in a well developed series. I received an ARC of this book. 5 stars
This book is the love story of Ava and Elijah. Having read all of the previous books, I was super excited about this story. Ava is strong, sexy and independent. She is a handful. Eli is also strong and sexy, but also kind and patient. They have known each other for a long time and he knows her family as well. They start off as casual, but their chemistry and attraction is too strong to deny. They go through rough patches, but are able to find their way back to each other.
I ended up with a crush on him because he is such a sweet, tender loving man. I also liked knowing what happened with the other Callaghan-Greens.
I have to say I love Annie’s writing style and get her books without even needing to read the blurb because I know I’ll enjoy them. She never disappoints. This book is another one worth the 5-stars I gave it.
Oh man! I was super excited for the next installment in the Callaghan Green series and Changing Spaces did not disappoint. If you follow the series, you know that each book focuses on one of the seven Callaghan siblings. Changing Spaces is Ava's book. Being the youngest, Ava is a handful. She has always spoiled and babied by her six older siblings. But she is more than just the youngest Callaghan. She is strong, sexy, independent and talented. However, Ava is not looking for happily ever after or settling down. She wants to date and have fun, no commitments. A chance encounter at her brothers wedding puts Elijah Ward, the 10 year her senior, partner at her family's law firm in her sights and in her bed. Will, confident, sexy, alpha Eli be the one to change Ava's mind on matters of the heart? Changing Spaces is a fantastic addition to this series.
I loved this book, it had a strong younger female that just wanted everyone to let her live her life. Ava's a tough female who has to deal with being the youngest in her family, that very larger than life family who protect their own. When she and Eli who is friends with the family and works at the family law firm hook up, she's afraid her family will judge, not only because she's nine years younger, but because she isn't looking for anything serious. Eli is patient and kind and gives her what she needs. The only thing I felt missing in the book was more age difference things, but that's on me not the author. again this book was beautifully written and I devoured in in hours and now I'm caught up and will try to be patient for the next book!
These two were such a great couple with great chemistry. Ava is the youngest Callaghan - though the youngest son Seph is definitely treated as the "baby" of the family - and when her and Eli click at Jackson and Vanessa's wedding, even though they've known each other for years thanks to Eli working at the Callaghan Green law firm, one night turns into two into three and then a secret relationship. The chemistry between these two more than makes up for the secretive nature of their relationship for reasons that don't really make sense - luckily I love these two apart and even more so together!!
Just when you think the next book can’t be better than the last Annie proves you wrong. Ava and Eli have been in the same circle for years but a “just one night” turns into one more and one more. We get a lot of the Callaghan Green family in this book which I loved....I feel like I know this family and constantly want more. I loved Ava’s story and catching up on the rest of the family....I’ve missed them. Collum and Seph’s stories will be the highlight of 2019 for me. Keep writing Annie and I’ll keep reading!
I just loved Ava & Eli. After reading the previous books in the Callaghan Green series I knew I would be in for another winner with this story. Ava & Eli got together at her brother & sister in law's wedding & their chemistry was off the charts. They weren't looking for a relationship but slowly that's what happened, though Ava tried to keep it a secret for a while since Eli worked for her family's firm & she is the youngest of the siblings. Just like the other books in the series I couldn't stop reading it.
This is the 5th book in the series and I love each one more and more. Ava who is the baby of the family and Eli, a lawyer who works for the Callaghan Green firm, have one night together but it turns in to more. She’s feisty and he’s the perfect alpha! Love this family!
This is an OK romance, but I did have some issues with it. It gets 3.5 stars from me, rounded down to 3 stars.
It features a couple that have some hot scenes. It seemed to me like they were mostly in lust. I had trouble believing their confessions of love -- they were definitely in lust, and couldn't keep their hands off each other, but I just didn't buy that they were in love.
Ava and Elijah were OK, but it bothered me that almost their entire relationship seemed to be based on sex. Sexual attraction is important, but a relationship needs more than sex to be healthy -- and I just didn't really see that they had much else in common.
One thing that really bothered me about this book (and the entire series, so far) was all the drinking. It seemed to me that all of the main characters were practically alcoholics -- they drank all the time, and were constantly getting totally hammered.
My rating system is below. 1 star -- Hated it, or did not finish. I usually only give this rating if some of the content is truly objectionable to me, like if one of the main characters does something really awful, and gets away with it. 2 stars -- Didn't like it. This rating usually means that I thought the writing wasn't very good, the editing was terrible, I didn't like the characters, or it had other major flaws. 3 stars -- I liked it, but had some minor issues with it. This rating means that there were minor editing issues, the story needed more character development, it was just too unrealistic, or had some other fairly minor issue. The majority of books I read get this rating – I do not consider it a bad rating. 4 stars -- I liked it a lot. This is a high rating for me, and I rarely give a higher one. 5 stars -- I loved it, and will probably read it again. Very few books are good enough to get this rating from me. The ones that do are usually classics.
Quick Info Standalone/Cliffhanger?: Standalone Part of a Series?: Yes ---------------------------------- Meeting the Characters Ava Callaghan Elijah Ward ---------------------------------- What happens? Ava and Elijah are having a secret affair, its not so secret that her siblings and parents haven't worked it out. It starts out with one night, one night then months later is happens again and again until they realise that perhaps they have more than just chemistry to keep them together. Final thoughts So, I get that this isn't about instant love and I do like that BUT, I don't like how he has sex with her and then in the months in between has sex with someone else and she does this too. Just feels weird and kind of makes it seem less like love and more like they have good sex so decided to stick with each other. I did however think OK at least they both did it, there is no double standard of one doing it and the other not so that is a point in the favour I'd just have rather they didn't not for the fact they were unable to get them out of their head or just because they didn't want to have sex with anyone else. That is my only negative but I do knock off 2 stars because it just really bothered me about this romance. Would I read again?: Yes Would I read this author again?: Yes
Beautifully written story of family and finding ones self
Beautifully written story about a close knit family and finding ones self. We meet our heroine Ava at her brothers Wedding where she is fighting off unwanted attention from Bradley a single like herself. In comes handsome, sexy Eli her oldest brothers best friend, and a senior partner at her family’s law firm to her rescue. Their chemistry is hot and immediate and Ava is thankful for the save. Ava and Eli then escape the reception and go outside to talk. Eli has just broken up with his girlfriend and Ava is playing the field not looking for any attachment. The two have a few drinks and decide on a one night stand. Ava is attracted to Eli but the fact he is nine years older, her brother Max’s friend and senior parter her family’s law firm makes Eli a definite one night stand. Well the one night stand thing doesn’t work out when the two meet again and this is their story as two soul mates, navigate, family, friends, business and find love. On this journey you will laugh, shed a few tears as the plot pulls all your heartstrings a definite five star read.
I loved Ava and Eli's story. He is a bit older than her and they start out as a one night thing. They become friends and realize that their attraction to each other needs more than a one night limit. I enjoyed Ava's journey from carefree single to finally realizing that she is indeed ready for a committed relationship. Her journey is not easy and she has to both learn to be vulnerable and trust her own strength. Elijah is super hot, smart, successful and getting over a relationship. His journey is one that goes from learning to enjoying freedom to desiring the binds of a loving relationship. I loved the progression of their relationship and Eli's willingness to move at Ava's pace. He recognized that she needed to get there and was willing to wait which was very swoon-worthy. I love that he wants to protect her but also knows that she needs the confidence of independence and he supports her. This may be my favorite of the series so far, and I loved all of them so that says something. Eli is an amazing hero and perfect for Ava.
Elijah is a successful lawyer, hot as sin in his mid-thirties, who loves to play rugby with his friends. He's just ended a 2-year long relationship and let himself accept a one-night stand with a feisty young blond beauty. As she happens to be his boss' little sister, they've both agreed to keep it secret. I loved how mature and manly Elijah is. He never pushed Ava for anything, waited for her to be ready. Although he felt like a bit of a caveman, he managed to keep his emotions. His life experience helped him to decipher his feelings and be on par with his sentiments. As the youngest of 7 siblings, Ava always felt the need to prove that she was autonomous. She didn't follow the family path, went to study abroad, and built her own company. She's feisty, and nothing seems to be able to stop her. This book reminds me a little of the Walsh Series by Kate Canterbary (my favorite one), mainly because of home renovation and the tight bonds between them.
Changing Spaces is my favorite of the Callghan Green series by far. Ava is the baby of the 7 Callaghan/Green siblings and marches to the beat of her own drum. An interior designer by trade, her love is flipping houses where she sees the potential if even the roughest of spaces. A one night stand and her sibling's wedding with Eli, a lawyer in her family's firm, soon turns into more than a one night stand, then practically living together before an incident has her trusting her own judgment. I loved everything about this book including that Ava has a good head on her shoulders despite being the baby of the family and admitting to being a bit spoiled. She plays hard and works even harder and Eli admires that about her, but she also helps him realize that the long term relationship he's out of recently wasn't built on the type of feelings you should have for someone you are serious about. Such a fantastic story.
A Callaghan Green book? One click! Bring on the family weddings, Friday night happy hours, and those fabulous text chains! Ava is the youngest and not part of the family law firm - she’s doing her own thing. She’s strong-willed & street smart. Then Eli saves her at her brother’s wedding and they get together for just one night. Until it’s not. The family surrounds them with love & crazy as Ava & Eli figure things out, with a number of hurdles to overcome. This book is another must-read by Annie Dyer. Her characters are endearing & real, and the restaurants, bars, and houses are painted so vividly with words - it makes reading her books an absolute blast! I can’t get enough of the Callaghan Greens & look forward to the next installment.
I don't think that there are enough words to describe how much I love the Callahan family. Each character is distinctly different from their siblings and get there is a sense of unity and closeness that I admire. Regardless of whether it is in snarkiness or humor or just having a one on one conversation, they always connect.
I adored Ava and Eli. They clicked from the beginning. I liked that the author gave a little more insight into Callum and Seph. I can't wait for their books. I also loved seeing the softer side of Claire and Killian. This series truly is one of the best out there. Nothing is pushed through or forced. It just progresses like a regular love relationship would and all the dynamics associated with it.
Ok. Thats what this book was. Ok. Ava, the baby of the blended Callaghan-Green family feels like she has to keep proving herself over and over to her family and in her love life. So, she keeps calling her fling with Eli temporary. She says that word so often you could make jt a drinking game and be drunk pretty quick. Even though what they have grows. She shares the same affliction as Payton. I swear they are two year old screaming, "I can do it myself."
This book plodded along slowly. Its picks up for the 2nd half if you make it that long. I was bored there for a bit.
I liked catching up with the family and seeing incidents from other books from a new perspective. This us what gave this book 3 instead of 2 stars.
