Wow, this series was amazing, quite a ride. Some books/series are so hard to review, because it was so good everything you go to write seems like it's just not enough. That's my trouble here.

This book/series was full of a bit of everything, perfectly weaved onto the pages. It was full of love, hate, fighting, and surprises around every corner. Often things happened that where just not expected. Situations would get so dire at times and I'd think how is she going to get out of this mess?

This last book of the series there have been a lot of friendships made by this point, loved ones saved, evil fought, loved ones lost, new powers found, and of course an apocalypse unleashed upon earth, yeah you need to read to find out about that.

This has been a great read, superb ride and I enjoyed every up and down, round and round. Pandora is a fighter to the end, with a heart full of love and mind knowing right from wrong. With the help of her friends, anything is possible. And a fight to the end it was. Who knew the devil actually had a soft spot 😈 😉.

I definitely recommend this series, I know I very much enjoyed it and loved that I couldn't predict everything that was going to happen. I had a great time on this adventure.

Thank you to the Author Kaitlyn Davis for supplying me a review copy.

Title: Shatter
Author: Kaitlyn Davis
Genre: New Adult, Paranormal, Romance
Format: Ebook - ARC
Pages: 368
Rating: 5
Heat: 1

Thoughts: Holy crap that was awesome!! I couldn’t put it down; it was so intense (like camping lol). This last book was filled with suspense and OMG moments to the point of not making dinner just to find out what happens next. And so many interesting revelations that I had no clue how it was going to end (other than the HEA of course). I love when that happens; it keeps me glued to the pages, not wanting to miss a thing, and sticks with me long after the story is finished. This is a series worthy of my bookshelf!

Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work and chose to write a review.

I had already read and thoroughly enjoyed the previous three novels in this enthralling series and eagerly anticipated reading this, the finale - and it was equally brilliant! The story continues from where the previous novel, Fracture, concluded and is a fast paced, action packed story, involving death, deception, drama and deviousness. Pandora thought her life had the opportunity to be 'normal', but fate has further dilemmas for her to face as she discovers that the foe she thought she had destroyed still lives and to free the world from his destructive nature she may have to kill someone she loves . . . . Will she succeed or will she be shattered by it all?

The story is well written, with easy to relate to characters. I particularly enjoyed reading events from different points of view, especially as the traumatic events unfold and the internal dialogues which occur between two of the characters who are on opposing sides. The scenarios are brought vividly to life in the imagination of the reader, making this a real page turner in which the outcome is never certain until you reach the end. There are a range of paranormal beings involved and bringing some groups together is the only way that Pandora will be able to defeat their common enemy, but convincing them to trust each other is definitely not an easy task!

This is a superb concluding story and I have no hesitation in highly recommending it to anyone who enjoys paranormal romantic suspense. I do, however, think it is important to read the earlier novels in the series - Frost, Freeze and Fracture - before reading this one as the story is told in chronological order of events through the series. I requested and was gifted a copy of this book. I chose to read it and this is my honest 5* review after doing so.

Pandora is so happy to have destroyed Samuel, her original love, the bringer of destruction and chaos, and now she can make something of her life and try to get peace between the races. But the titans show up and tell her that she is wrong, and instead of killing Samuel, she has released him from his body to roam the world freely. Pandora refuses to believe this, thinking that they just can't let her have the happiness she deserves. But something is not right around her, and Pandora is not certain what it is. But Jax knows, and he fears that Pandora may never discover the answers.

This is not a stand-alone book. Keep in mind that this is the fourth book in a series and it can't be read alone (well, I guess you can physically do whatever you want). I highly recommend that you start with book 1 in the Midnight Ice series, Frost, and go from there because otherwise you will miss out on all the character development, world building and crazy exciting plot twists.

Holly Tension, Batman! I was seriously on the edge of my seat, chewing my nails, filled with tension while reading pretty much all of this book. Seriously, the book drops you in pretty much right after book 3 ends and it is one emotional/dangerous/shocking/stressful situation right after another, I could literally not put this book down until I reached the end. I could not predict anything that would happen, lives were in danger and people died shockingly, and I could not guarantee my favorite Titan would get to have the happily ever after I hoped for her. Book 4 is hands down my favorite book in the series (way to end on such a high note Kaitlyn!).

I have previously stated that I was team Samuel in my reviews for the previous books but I have now seen the error of my ways and how truly evil he actually is. It breaks my heart to say so, but Sam, we are through! The way you manipulate everyone, even those you claim to love, for your nefarious purposes was pretty despicable and trust is just an empty five letter word to you. Your origins may have started with the best of intentions...but your heart is as dark as your shadows. Jax with his sincerity, devotion, hope and self-sacrificing heart have now wormed their way into my affections and I can see why young Pandora originally loved him with her whole being.

Overall this series has been such an emotional, action filled adventure with cool new types of supernaturals created to kick butt and I absolutely loved it. Each book got better and so much more complicated that I was absolutely hooked. I highly enjoyed this world Kaitlyn created and this just reinforced for me that I need to get my hands on the Ignited series and learn about Kira because she was one of my favorite side characters with her spunk and cheery disposition. And I wouldn't mind a story about Naya sometime... I look forward to more adventures with the characters Kaitlyn wants to create.

Brilliant and captivating book concluding the story of Pandora and Jaxguiding the reader through the greatest suffer, intense pain, and unbound love.
Dory thought she destroyed Sam after all those years - but his mind, soul, his eternal presence survived, and attached to the essence of the only man she loved - Jax. Jackson, unable to voice his thoughts and ward his love, suffered silently in the back of his consciousness, a witness to Sam's manipulation and pretense. However, Dory is no fool, and when she finally realized the truth, she was determined to win once and for all. Despite all the concequences, the loss, the pain. Because love is the strongest of all.
Although my schedule did not allow me to read the whole series in one go, I never lost connection. Just opening the book after a month brought me immediately back, remembering all details of the previous events, and what was waiting for the couple now. The story developed truly quickly, and the tension built to enormous, almost unbearable intensity - I thought I'd bite my nails off waiting for the moment when the game would be over, someone would slip, the con will be revealed and the fight will explode. Both Sam and Pandora held their own, stubbornly refusing to open the final act, biding their time and building their plans (well, in Pandora's case... let's keep quiet). Jax was not allowed to actively influence the story, doomed to be a prisoner in his body, powerless witness to all the horrors and unbearable pain - but he survived, and his love redeemed his soul. I absolutely loved all the characters, the depth their gained over time, and the personalities their grew. Set into a beautiful and terrifying world of amazing powers and spellbinding magic, the story is a must read.

Quick Reasons: tidy, clean wrap-up to an action-packed series; I felt the element of surprise was a bit lacking; loved the use of POV, though a bit disappointed we didn't get more from Sam; small character redemptions for the win!

HUGE thanks to Kaitlyn Davis for having me along for this wild ride and sending me a free digital galley in exchange for an honest review! This in no way altered my read of or opinions on this title.

To say this series was a hurricane sweeping through my reading world would be an understatement, Penguins. From the get-go, Kaitlyn Davis left me feeling a little bit off-kilter, as if she could yank the rug out from under me any time she chose (which she did, often and brutally!) I did feel as if this potential installment lacked a bit of that "element of surprise" feeling I've so grown to expect from this author. Even knowing this was the final piece of this puzzle, I went into this read hoping for one final satisfying plot twist, which I sadly didn't find.

Pandora could see it--his oily feathers, her broken ones. Bloodstains on his hands. Flowers crushed beneath their feet. Shadows unfurling to hide the damage as he pulled her into his arms, as she let him, and together they swayed, forgetting everything but love for a few desperate moments.

Even now, he didn't need to lead.

Her feet knew where to go.

Her soul knew what steps to take.

These characters arc gorgeously, though! There are several small, heart-wrenching redemptions written into the main action that caught me off-guard but left me endlessly pleased. Some of the smaller players were recognized and given room to breathe on their own a bit, which I enjoyed seeing. I was a tiny bit disappointed that we didn't get more of Sam, however. His character, as full of hatred and darkness as he is, sort of took the backseat--he felt very stunted to me in this installment, honestly, which might not have been the best way to deliver him. I feel as if the story was lacking a huge amount of tension and drama that could otherwise have been present, with more of Sam's POV.

This was, overall, a thoroughly clean and tidy ending to an explosive series, and I'm so happy to have been a part of the journey! I definitely recommend this entire series to readers seeking exciting new adventures, characters with huge hearts and big flaws, and action-packed epicness! The war is ending, Penguins; beware the shadows and their kin.

Finally (unfortunately) the end of the Midnight Ice series is here! I have spoken about this series and how much I love Kaitlyn Davis’ writing for months now. She is one of my greatest “discoveries” of 2017 and I am so happy and honored to have read and reviewed it completely! She is amazing and her stories are amazing as well. Here are my opinions about “Shatter”.

As opposed to the other three books, “Shatter” has a more strategical approach, if I may say so. It’s like a chess play between Sam and Pandora. They have their own plans and their own allies. One has to identify the other’s weaknesses. So the action is more focused on the characters, on a psychological level, and the bond between Sam, Pandora and Jax. There is a long road ahead in order to establish a relationship based on trust between conduits and titans, but it seems one cannot manage without the other this time. I don’t want to get into that too much, as I don’t want to spoil your fun.

But far more exceptional is the way the author has portrayed Sam. Throughout the series, he has not been your usual negative character. All his actions have a pretty good justification: he wants Pandora back. And what better way to win her heart one more time than to deliver the world to her? Covered in darkness and destroyed but… whatever. He is led by his feelings, by love. I kind of like him. As opposed to Jax, who has betrayed Pandora some time ago, Sam will make the ultimate sacrifice for her.

Speaking of Jax, he is … in the shadows. You know what I mean, if you have read the previous book. But the love he has for Dory is what actually saves the day. Funny thing is that this exact love is what sent him there in the first place.

This series has been the highlight of my year. I loved it so much. All the books are real page turners and each volume end will be so unexpected. And it is the case for “Shatter” as well. I do recommend the series, I do recommend the author.

I was actually planning on reading this series conclusion way sooner than I eventually did. I have an issue with reading last books. Especially when it are last books in series I really loved. It means saying goodbye to the characters. It means saying goodbye to the world. It means saying goodbye in general and I'm not very good at goodbyes. However, I have a few too many series I need to finish reading, so it was the perfect moment to pick this one up!

This book was truly a rollercoaster from start to finish! Of course, because of the dual point of view we have a lot of information the characters in the story have not, but that was part of the excitement! Davis really built up the suspense. I was moving to the edge of my seat, I was turning the pages as fast as I could while still reading every word and sentence. I had to know how everything would be solved eventually!

And the finale of the book was lovely. Yes, there was an epic fight, but the epic fight and the danger were not the focus of the finale. Actually, the finale was a really intimate moment. It was strangely enough also the moment that true love really prevailed. Because, as was sung in Children of Eden, the hardest part of love is the letting go. I was almost moved to tears and I really really loved that the author gave the characters the chance to do this.

However, the author very clearly didn't spare the characters and the people around them either. The stakes were high, as we were shown quite a few times when meaningful characters met an untimely end. And although the characters very clearly didn't deserve all that pain and hurt, I loved how Davis made sure that happily ever afters and futures in freedom didn't come for free. The price had to be paid and it was a heavy one.

I can't wait to dive into Davis' next fantasy series!

This book was a fantastic way to end the series! It gives you everything you want, but makes you work for it. I'm both happy and sad - happy that Pandora gets her happy ending but sad that we don't get any more from this universe.

We join this book immediately after the ending of the previous one. Do not start here if you haven't read the previous books in this series! These books truly have to be read in order and there is no time to catch up if you start here! That being said, it took me a little bit to dive back in to this drama-filled world. Pandora is still grappling with her new memories, new powers, and the fact that she essentially took back the immortality from the titans. She's hiding out with her friends (who are still awesome) and is trying to start a new life with Jax. At least she thinks it's Jax.

Jax has been possessed by Sam, who is up to no good. What's his plan? We are at just as much of a loss as Jax is. We are all rooting for Pandora to figure out that things are not as they seem, but it was a real struggle to not jump out of my skin every time she interacted with Sam thinking he was Jax. Poor Pandora - she just cannot get a break! There is a lot of badness that has to happen on the way to the end of this series, but it just gives that much better a happy ending.

I was sad to see the casualties along the way, but this new world that Pandora is forging is well worth the sacrifice. The author also does something I thought would be impossible now - she convinced me that Sam might not be 100% evil. Don't get me wrong, he's evil. Just... there is hope there. Maybe I'm too much of an optimist, but I really liked that. All in all, this series was a great ride and I was sad to say goodbye to the characters.

I started this series on 8-13. Just downloaded it on KU and wanted a quick read to entertain myself after a particularly rough day. I thought it would be just a short romp thru the fantasy world of some author's mind.…. Holy Mackerel! I couldn't stop reading! I only put it down long enough to eat and answer the phone, well okay and to go potty! I was hooked.... I eagerly flipped from one page to the next... I had to know what was happening.... I couldn't wait I was edging forward in my chair. Do you have any idea how long it's been since a book has done that to me? I have a new fave author, Kaitlyn Davis! I rushed through book 3 and 4, never missing a word... I felt mesmerized much like our heroine did when looking into her lover's eyes.... *sigh* I learned right along with her, fought by her side, was crushed when HE nearly..... NO! It can't be true.... you can do it Pandora! Hang in there, you nearly have it!

I'm sorry readers I have to go rest. I am happily exhausted from living Pandora's life. You would really miss out if you don't read this series of Midnight Ice #1-4 by Kaitlyn Davis Buy it Now!! :)

Shatter, by Kaitlyn Davis, is book four of the Midnight Ice series. The story dives right back into Pandora’s life and where the third book left off. Little does Pandora know that Samael is not completely gone and that Jax is a prisoner in his own body! Pandora, once again, has to feel her father’s disregard for her feelings and well being when he flat out tells her he doesn’t love her. Pandora’s hurting, but she remains strong and relies on the help of her trusted friends. I enjoy the alternating points of view and the different perspectives shown, which build the suspense. The strong characters and loyalty continue to grow and the ending of this book is beautiful and heartwarming! I love being back in Pandora's world and enjoy the beautiful, descriptive writing of Kaitlyn Davis. 5 stars for this supernatural read that I couldn't put down!

This is book 4 of the Midnight Ice series, you can’t read it as a standalone so it would be better to start from book 1 so you can understand the characters and the storyline. Pandora has finally defeated Samuel or so she thinks until the Titans tell her that when she killed him she released his spirit from his body and that it wasn’t a good thing. Sam even though he was acting like a good guy was actually full of hate and very evil. Now with Jax I have to eat my words with him, in the first couple of books I totally hated him and I disliked the way he treated Pandora but as it turned out he ended up being the good guy Imagine That! There was so much action and adventure I was sad to see it end but it was a fantastic read. I highly recommend this book I loved it and I know you will too.

After escaping from the Titans, Dory has managed to kill Sam. But she doesn’t know that it was only his body destroyed and that his spirit has taken over Jax who is trapped inside covered in Sam’s shadows. Then the Titans show up at the conduit town and declare that Sam’s still alive and that Dory & Jax return to the Titan stronghold for questioning.

I got very emotional halfway through especially about Dory and her father and about Jax and his parents. I’m glad Kira and conduits are so prominent in this series (You definitely need to read the ‘Midnight Fire’ series first). They really make a difference.

Fave scenes: Jax’s message, Dory’s plot to keep Sam in the dark while they plot and Dory’s father’s closet.

Things are finally looking up for Pandora. She can now live her life without having to look over her shoulder expecting someone to be there trying to kill her and no more being chased through the shadows. Pandora can now lead her life the way she sees fit with the boy she is in love with, Jax. The whole world is hers if she wants.

Pandora has killed the monster that has been chasing her. When she tells the titans what she has done they are not as happy about it as she is as they do not believe that the monster is dead.

Just as Pandora starts to think the world is safe once again; she starts to wonder if the titans may be correct in thinking the monster is still alive. The war she thought was over may just be beginning. If the monster is still alive and Pandora can’t find a way to stop him for good then it may just spell the end of the world. Can Pandora stop the monster? Is the monster even still alive? Can Pandora save the world? Can she stop the ending from coming?

I fell in love with the Midnight Ice world from the first book Frost following Pandora, Jax and Sam through the shadows. This has been an amazing journey one in which I hate to see end. The Midnight Ice world is filled with twist after twist that keeps you glued to the pages wanting to find out what is going to happen next.

I would like to suggest that you give the Midnight Ice world a try that is if you like visiting the paranormal world or just like a good fantasy to read every now and again.

Omg, you MUST read this series. I thought I was going to faint from all the tension throughout the whole book, it was fantastic. If this YA you can sign me up again 😍

Poor Jax, poor Pandora & what an evil, self centred & vile piece of slime Sam is, but he's the devil so I guess that makes sense, huh? Ugh!!

I don't want to give anything away but it's a definite must read finale!! Enjoy it 💕

The line between love and hate

It's a real fine line, but it's the line separating Pandora and Sam. This book is filled with Pandora trying to rescue Jax and separate from Sam. She has to choose between the thousands of years and past experiences with Sam and a future with Jax. This book is amazing and great for all ages. It made the reader really dig deep on the meaning of love. It comes in many forms. Read on to see how her choices played out.

Pandora thinks she has fulfilled her destiny, but could it be that "easy" to conquer the Prince of Darkness? Jax has changed. Confusion reigns, and the danger to the Titans is growing by the day. Murder, turmoil, heartbreaking memories. And when all is done, is it possible to feel pity for Sam? Is there a chance of some sort of redemption? A momentous finale to the series.

Pandora was such a fun character to read about and this final book was a great end to a fantastic series that kept me entertained all the way through. Lots of action and more surprises as the book progressed that had me staying up to finish the book. The secondary characters were also so much fun to learn more about and were also well developed. Loved it!!

Its always sad to me when a good series comes to an end. In this last book in the Midnight Ice series, Kaitlyn Davis brings us to an exciting end. There is everything you could ever want in a closer. Drama, excitement, romance, evil versus good. Its all packed into 300 page of nonstop action.

I wondered throughout the book about how Jax was going to be freed from his plight. It was nail biting in some spots and I have to admit that I don't have many nails left after reading this book, but true to form, Ms. Davis kicked butt in the end and left us with a good feeling in the end.

I loved this series and would recommend it to anyone who likes a good paranormal or urban fantasy.

Wow. What an ending to a crazy ride of a series. I enjoyed these books a lot more than I initially thought I would. While I thought the series was wrapped up well, I am sad to say goodbye. Call me crazy, but somehow even through this book I was secretly rooting for Sam. Not that I wanted his forces of darkness and evil to win--I just had really sincerely hoped that he would change and that he and Pandora might still work out together. Don't get me wrong, Jax is great (at least once he comes clean about his mistakes with betraying Pandora.) I just found Sam and Pandora's thousand-year story to be so unique and compelling.

At the end when Sam finally sees what he'd done and how he lost her, and lets her cut their shadow connection and finally moves on, I just couldn't hold back the tears. I have accepted Jax and Pandora and am happy for them, but was especially happy that Pandora got that tattoo at the end to remember him and their story.

Shatter by Kaitlyn Davis is the final book in this amazing series. This has been a journey worth if, from the beginning to this moment. I remember starting this book because I've loved the author's former books and it wormed it's way into my heart and skyrocketed it's way up my favorite list.
Shatter started on an exciting note with the Titans coming to Pandora for answers. Samael is still in the body of Jax and as expected, He's not exactly tuned to be a perfect Jax. He slowly makes little mistakes that matter and arouses suspicion especially as the Titans don't believe he's truly gone. Due to a surprising and not too devastating loss, The Titans realise to survive, they have to work together with other supernatural factions as they've lost their power.
Pandora eventually realises the truth about Sam after one too many coincidences, But the problem lay in how to scheme without his knowledge. Their game of cat and mouse was quite entertaining as the antics they used to cover up what they are truly doing was at time ludicrous (Like seriously the guys took Jax to Disneyland?!!!!).
The love/connection/bond between Jax and Pandora is as strong as ever and it's a tether that unites them both no matter what. There is a lot of action as the war intensifies behind the scene and when it all cane to a final point, it erupted into all out battle. All the supernatural factions working together towards defeating their enemy is a thing of brilliance. The large cast of supernaturals is one of the best traits of this series and it utilises it well in Shatter and everyone brings something unique to the table all paramount in getting a happy ending. I loved the way Kira and Luke's side ended, as someone who has been their fan from the beginning, that was amazing.
After quite a few twists and turns, Shatter ended in a beautiful and superb manner that was a satisfying conclusion to what has been a phenomenal journey. Lovers of the series are going to be pleased as Shatter has everything that makes us love the series in abundance. Kaitlyn Davis is seriously uber talented, She weaves stories majestically. I really can't wait to read the next book from her.

I... I have no words for this book. It was so much. The journey, the fight, the terror, the hope, and the ending. I was a wreck in some parts, I was a mess with others, but at the end, everything was as it was supposed to be. It was a Great finale to this series. A lot was lost, bit a lot more was gained.
