Queer fiction author Roe Horvat was born in the former Czechoslovakia. Equipped with a dark sense of sarcasm and a penchant for Czech beer, Roe traveled Europe and finally settled in Sweden. He came out as transgender in 2017 and has been fabulous since. He loves Jane Austen, Douglas Adams, bad action movies, stand-up comedy, pale ale, and daiquiri, with equal passion. When not hiding in the studio doing graphics, he can be found trolling cafés in Gothenburg, writing, and people-watching.
"The Layover was one of my favorite books from last year...I still find myself drifting back and thinking about it. And this bit of bonus scenes filled my heart. If you've read The Layover but missed this, hurry, quick, go! And if you haven't read The Layover yet...hurry, quick, go! You need Ondro and Peter. You really really do.
Awww!!! I totally forgot the story, since I read it last year and forgot to update. But since I loved 'The Layover', I am sure, this one was good too.😊😊
This was a good insight for Jamie, his personality, his concerns, habits. This makes me want more of them, more short stories about how their life in Scotland plays out. Some of it was shown in the 128 Day chapter, but it'd be great to see some holidays or something along those lines.
I would like this to be longer, but I do understand why it is so short. It would have been great if this went on to where he parts with Ondro and then decides to knock on Ondro's door.
well written but not essential. this is a sort of prequel/ retelling of the first-ish chapter of The Layover from Jamie’s pov, and is available for free on Roe Horvat’s prolificworks page.
you won’t miss anything by skipping this, but it’s a nice, quick read all the same.
The Swiss Experiment (The Layover, #0.5) by Roe Horvat is a free prequel to The Layover offered by the author at the conclusion of that story.
The Layover is a powerful novel of love between two men who meet in a Swiss airport when each has been forced into an unwanted overnight layover.
While The Layover is told from the POV of Ondro Smrek, a thirty-year old former flight attendant originally from Bratislava, The Swiss Experiment tells the story of their initial meeting from the perspective of Jamie Reid, the younger American expat currently living in Scotland.
