They’re the Vendetti crime famiglia, the most powerful mafia name in New York... Matteo Vendetti is a man who gets what he wants. As heir to the Vendetti Empire and the Capo dei capi’s throne, he’s only required to do one thing. He must get married to prove that he’s matured and stable enough to take over. The stipulation doesn’t sound like much of a challenge until he realizes who his betrothed is.
Violet’s the Bottaro princess, not just a random woman he met by chance in another country. She’s young—too young by his standards. She’s headstrong—a problem for a dominant man like Matteo. She’s desirable—the biggest issue of all. Before long,
Matteo’s questioning himself, wondering if Violet’s really such a burden, or if just maybe, he’s falling in love with something other than the Empire.

I can't take it anymore. I'm dnf'ing at 51%, page 67. I think I may actually have come to hate Reverse Harem books. The FMC is only 19. She is a virgin on her wedding night to Matteo and goes from knowing nothing and frightened to OMG I love it having sex with him and ALL his brothers. Nope. Don't buy that shit AT ALL. Matteo is supposed to be this Big Time Capo, yadda yadda, but family tradition says he has to share her with them...... WTF!
Is the story hot and smutty? Yep. Virtually every page is sex. And it is hot. Erotic. But! Romantic? NO.
I haven't found anything up to this point that could be considered a Plot, no action (other than the sex, sex, sex), no suspense (other than BELIVABILITY
And the story itself is..... Lacking in everything. The flow sucks too.
In chapter 2, hero demands proof of heroine’s virginity so hero’s father forcefully examines her infront of him and his 6 brothers. Later he licks his fingers infront of all. And like a true zero, he doesn’t mind instead thinks his father was a ‘lucky bastard’. Barf 🤢.... cringe... barf again!!

I was so excited for this book from the second I read the blurb, and of course because it is written by Ms. Sapphire. However, honestly, I was pretty disappointed. Now, it could be because this is only part 1 (and hasn't gotten to the exceptional stuff in part 2) but I felt like this book just fell flat.
1. I am totally for reverse harem and sharing with your brothers (very hot, indeed) but I was irked by the plan to have Cristiano who was only 16 at the time, sleep with her as well and that no one was allowed to say no based on tradition. To me, that's just gross. Then allowing your dad to check her purity and to watch? double gross. brothers are one thing, but your dad too? no thanks.
2. All this entire book centered around was getting all 7 brothers to f*ck Violet. So basically, there was no room for any story line except that. If it were me, i would've kept with the 'multiple brothers' concept but have less brothers as characters and allowed for other details and events to come forward.
3. Violet was the most boring mafia h I have read about in a looooong time. In the beginning, how she was portrayed, I was like, ok, she's feisty, she's quirky (with her clothes, dancing, and blue lipstick), at the engagement dinner she was a little outspoken. I thought she'd give the brothers a little bit of a hard time with funny antics or the things she said or something. I mean, who was she anyway besides a mafia princess? She had no depth as a character. yes, I admired how she was fiercely loyal from day 1 and how she didn't have to be taught how the mafia life worked but good lord was she dull.
4. There was NO action in this book. like i said, it was all trying to find time for the 7 brothers to fulfill the tradition. Ive never read a mafia book where there is like, literally, no action. The only real action was the people the brothers killed before the wedding to determine their order to f*uck violet. And the H? yes he was hot, yes we got more insight into his childhood and how his dad molded him to take his place but all Matteo did was....office work....does he even have a gun? Matteo = Ruthless? nah. he's a puppy.
5. The sex scenes....there were many but they were boring. I mean, I could've slept through the sex if it was actually in real life. And I'm sorry but a sheltered mafia princess just spreading her legs for 7 men to f*ck (8 to watch) and just being totally cool with it and no putting up any fight or having any mental resistance or resentment is just completely unrealistic. I wanted to laugh in her face when Matteo asked if she was even pure and said she had plenty of time in between to sleep around, and she had the audacity to look offended? YOU LET A TOTAL STRANGER FINGER YOU ON THE DANCE FLOOR IN A FOREIGN COUNTRY WITHOUT SO MUCH AS A HI....and your insulted he asked?
ugh, bottom line, Violet rubbed me the wrong way.
All in all, i felt this book could have been so much more and I was really hoping it would but it just fell flat to me. Hopefully part 2 will be better.
The Vendetti Empire: Capo dei capi – Ruthless Matteo Vendetti is the first book in the Ruthless Matteo Vendetti. A Mafia Romance that packs a powerful punch! The Vendetti brothers are the rulers of the Mafia and will do anything to defend their family and their Queen.
When Matteo Vendetti has crowned the capo and is told it is time for him to take a bride, Violet is a Mafia princess from another family who is quickly ushered into the Vendetti Fold. Although she is well versed in the Mafia rules and royalty, she has no idea what she is getting into as she becomes the Queen of the Vendetti Family.
Overall, The Vendetti Empire: Capo dei capi – Ruthless Matteo Vendetti was by far one of the steamiest reads I have read all year. This is my first Sapphire Knight read and I was glad to jump in with this one. I have a thing for Italian men and Matteo did not disappoint. Although I found the romance to have happened really fast, the Vendetti traditions left my heart racing and my fingers flipping those pages as fast as I can. If you are not a fan of a series, this may not be the read for you but if you want a taste, then starting with this first book is a definite must!!! I look forward to reading more Saphhire Knight and finding out how this journey ends!
OK, so for my safety gang peeps, this is a no for the majority of you for sure! I had NO idea exactly how HOT this was gonna be and when I say that I mean I had no clue of the "sharing" and THAT I did NOT like! For me, I am into the sharing and/or menage in certain circumstances and with certain books that I am going into knowing the author and knowing these are the books I can expect, a dirty mindless read, lol. BUT I was not expecting it in this book (I didn't dig enough I just read blind) anyways, I digress, I was expecting a HOT read yes but I wanted it between Matteo and Violet ONLY! I really didn't like the aspect of the initiation for Matteo's wife, I mean I thought for sure he was gonna stop it BUT NOPE and then I was done with any hopes of "true" love and romance. yes, I KNOW it's a mob book BUT I can have my cake and eat it too, lol, as I have with many other mob related stories, this was just sex and don't get me wrong I am fine with that if that is what I expected to read about.
The writing was very good and I loved the couple but was so let down with the circumstances of the start of their relationship and don't even get me started on the baby making thing, that was a hell NO for me! That part of the storyline was absurd for me and a total turnoff:(
Will I continue, ummmm, probably not sadly and it's too bad because if the sharing thing had NOT happened then yes, I would BUT for me, ewwww I just don't think I will be able to and don't get me going on any future wives that actually have to find out their sis-in-law has had sex with them:(

Hang on to your panties ladies, this book is going to melt them literally right off of you!
Matteo is the oldest son of the Vendetti’s and as such he is about to step up as Capo, taking the reigns from his father who is retiring. However, he needs to take a wife and secure their bloodline with a child. His father arranges a marriage with Violet and allies two enemy families. But after the wedding, things take a turn and start heating up😍
Sex....that is about all this book has. I was not up for what happened in the beginning. The H has totally two personalities. He was a huge ass and then he turned into a caring guy. I was getting whiplash from him. The Vendetti tradition is beyond wack and his dad is a creeper. Interesting to say the least. I will read the next.
Sorry I like possessive men. Not ones that would let their father finger their wife to be and fuck all his brothers. Not a reverse harem so no. The youngest brother is 16 so that might be part of the ban??? That and she was told she had to have sex with them it was a family tradition yuck!!!!!!

This is the first book in the Vendetti Empire Series by Sapphire Knight. I seriously doubt I’ll read any other books in this series and honestly I want my $3.99 back. I’m not a prude at all and it takes a lot for me to be shocked but NO FUCKING WAY ! First of all having his brothers hold her down while his dad jams two fingers up her snatch to see if she’s pure then having HIM LICK HIS FINGERS was gross and I may have vomited in my mouth. But no that’s not the most fucked up thing. It seems the Vendetti’s have a tradition that after the oldest son consummates with his VIRGIN bride then his SIX YOUNGER BROTHERS get to run a train on her. The youngest brother is 16 which is yuck but I guess because she’s only 19 it’s okay. Violet lets a total stranger whose name she doesn’t even know finger bang her on the dance floor of a crowded nightclub in Milan then she gets offended when the stranger turns out to be her betrothed and he questions her purity. Violet was a wannabe gangster who acted like she was born in a trailer park (no offense to anyone who has). Matteo was a mega huge disappointment. He was just made Capo and he could’ve changed their sick-fuck familia tradition but he is a ball-less twatwaffle so of course he didn’t. Sorry but I prefer a twisted, possessive mafioso who would kill his own brother before letting him fuck his new bride. BUT IT WASN’T JUST ONE BROTHER IT WAS 6 ! This bitch was a virgin yet she managed to take 7 dicks in one night. Were they all micro-penises ? What happened to men like Tate Masterson from Secrets ?
As authors nowadays have taken to basically bullying readers on social media I would like to mention that yes she had warnings, yes she said this isn't your mother's cookbook (no shit) but.
This was an absolutely disgusting experience. Somebody recommended this...'story' for an arranged marriage trope and I thought oh wow Sapphire Knight,I have never read her.. I wonder why..
WELL NOW I KNOW WHY. I couldn't sleep so I grabbed this book and COULD NOT PROCEED. BYE WHATEVER. FUCKING GROSS.
This is billed as an arranged marriage, mafia romance. That's what the book blurb implies. After the first couple of chapters, I think...Yes, arranged marriage and an enemies to lovers, age gap romance trope too. Not only was I wrong, but the book blurb is VERY deceiving. Yes, it's an arranged marriage, but it fails to mention it's also a Reverse Harem romance; and not a good one because, among other reasons, there's NO romance!
At 26% into this book, I was so appalled and disgusted that I decided to stop and read some reviews before continuing. Comments like: "Eww, No"; "Bomb of Bombs"; "horror of horrors"; "horrible waste of time"; "... don't know how someone could even come up with this type of plot."; "...angry and disappointed."; "Lacking everything"... are what I read, mostly from people who couldn't even finish the book. But there were a few that loved it, go figure, so I kept on reading, hoping it would improve. It didn't; it just got worse.
At 39%, (chapter 8) I began skimming pages hoping to find something that would redeem it, only to be even more disappointed, more angry, disgusted, disbelieving. At 44% I DNF'd this book. I just couldn't take anymore! Be aware, I do not DNF lightly nor often. I've DNF'd only 2-3 books in my 50 years of reading. Don't misunderstand, I enjoy a good, well written RH romance (key word..romance). This wasn't good nor well written and there was certainly NO romance. So what specifically made me DNF this one? Keep reading.
[Spoiler Alert]
First, the premise of the RH storyline is that it's a Vendetti family tradition when the Capo dei Capi marries, he and his brothers (all 6 of them) must share in the wedding night consumation while their father watches. This is just too outrageous and unbelievable for an arranged marriage, mafia story. This writer obviously doesn't know Italians or the mafia. No Italian man, mafia or not, would ever share his wife on his wedding night or any other night for that matter. They are notoriously possessive and while they themselves might not always show fidelity, they certainly expect it of their wives. This idea might have worked in a shifter RH or even an alien one, but as a mafia family, it's not only unbelievable, I found it insulting and offensive.
Second, the characters were inconsistent. Bad enough we're supposed to believe that the innocent virgen bride, who's initally upset and angry that she's been strapped down and is about to be gang-raped (and that's what it is) .. on her wedding night ... while her new father-in-law watches, is suddendly into it, by the 3rd man, imagining what the other brothers will do to her. Nope, not buying it! Worse, the H fluctuates from posessive and caring to a cold ba$t@rd who is just fine with his brothers fu¢king his wife while he watches. But that's not all, while one moment says he wants to know their first child is his, the next he's perfectly fine with all his brothers effing her till she gets pregnant...because it's family tradition. Personaly, I think their family tradition su¢ked.
Can it get any worse...oh yeah, it does! Last, but not least, these brothers are self-centered, self-important, rude and crude and believe that showing their prowess in assuring the woman has an orgasm makes them a caring person. In truth, none of them show any real caring, emotion (other than lust), or tendernes and I found none of them likeable! In my opinion they were nothing more than voyeuristic rapists!
My opinion is DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME! I'm not only DNFing this one, I'm deleting from.my Kindle!
The story line was not strong. This book came off to me as RAPE at the total beginning because the wife did not know of this tradition. The ending was .... how can I say, cheap and disrespectful of the characters. Try again with a better storyline and a better cover. next time, leave something to the imagination. Yes I know it's fiction, but I also want more to the imagination instead of a shock
Many of us that are your readers feel you have gone overboard with this book. We choose not to read books with multiple partners. The covers usually let us know in advance if that is the kind of book it is. You're not being creative with the cover was a disappointment. Yes I read the Description before I read the book, it did not reference actual relationships with the brothers. I read erotic books, this was not ertic, this was bad writing. I've never been over opinionated on any review as this one.
OMG...what a start to a new mafia series...and what a hunk of a man that Matteo is! After reading this first book in The Vendetti Empire series I am a little jealous of young Violet...to be lavished with such attention from the Vendetti brothers (without spoiling the fun, it's gives a whole new meaning to brotherly love) and the excitement and danger that is surely around the corner makes me so anxious for the next book already. Sapphire Knight does a very good job writing alpha males in her biker books as well, so it was no surprise that these stallions are just as rough and ruthless and oh so sexy. Strap yourself in for one of the hottest family of brothers ever, some interesting family traditions and a mouthy heroine who will bring them to their knees one way or another.
WOW! Matteo and his brothers are HOT! By the time you finish the first Vendetti book you’re not going to know which one you love the most. I’ll happily take them all!
I loved this book! Matteo is the perfect example of a dangerous, sexy, alpha male that I loved reading about and getting to know in this story. I couldn't stop reading this book until I hit the very end and I can't wait to see more from this world of character's.
Ok, so 👀 I’m pretty open to *gestures all around* most kinks and I was even open enough to finish and move on to the next book. However, this family “tradition” …wtf?
Honestly, it’s over the top but a short read and not terrible.
I was a bit wary of this one when I perused reviews but am happy that I gave it a go because I couldn't put it down! It was unexpected, steamy & made me want to jump into this world & be a fly on the wall of the Vendetti compound. My only wish... More gritty, action-packed scenes for Part 2, please.
Violet... She was pretty a likeable heroine. Some sass, some submissive traits, some (& then total) acceptance of the inevitable Vendetti tradition... Thank you, Violet. Thanks for going with the flow instead of being a runner or a push-away-er because it made things much more fun. I'm excited to see your growth & how you'll wield your newfound power in part two of your story!
Matteo... Yeah, he was kind of an a** at times but he fell for Violet fast. Yay! Loved his jealous tendencies, his commanding nature & his loyalty to his family. I didn't love the initial 'inspection' done by Matteo's father when they all met Violet (talk about a big YUCK factor) but the brothers' Vendetti tradition grew on me... especially when it 'grew' on Violet. ;)
So curious to learn more about the rest of the brothers; especially young Cristiano. His confession at the end was sweet & a pleasant surprise.
Off to one-click part two of this duet, The Vendetti Queen. Time to see Violet shine in her new crown!
ALPHA male: were? I ain’t ever read of such a disappointment to all alphas, and he’s the oldest too. Everyone had balls but him.
Heroine with personality:Who? She doesn’t use her voice when she has to, being obnoxious is not strong. Goes to Milan just to almost get ginger Seggs with the first guy she meets. Ok That’s different, to each their own. She must be rebellious, right? No, sis turns around and makes no sense. I don’t think the author new who she wanted this character to be. Her personality is like a walking oxymoron.
Plot:? . Was lost.I was expecting arranged marriage so no love at first then progress.
Entertainment :? I was cringing the whole book.
Couple bond: nowhere to be found
Development :who’s that?
They lied to me I had little expectations and it was still bad. This book was trying too hard to be different, what a let down.

I couldn't put this book down. This was a wonderful start to this series. Sapphire Knight did a fantastic job on it. The story was very well written with a great plot and strong characters. The Vendetti family was fierce, you didn't want to be on their bad side. These brothers were hot as Sin, especially Matteo. Violet, lets just say she hand her hands full. The attraction between the characters was intense and their chemistry was off the charts Sizzling HOT! I don't want to give anything away so I just highly recommend reading. The story is filled with steaminess. This was a great story. I'm looking forward to reading more. I recommend reading this book. Thank you, Sapphire Knight. Great work :) 5 Stars!
I"m not really a fan of Reverse Harem stories but this one by Sapphire Knight just blew me away! I like mafia stories and this was one of those but so much more!!!! The twists, the turns.....all kept me turning the page until I reached the end. Now I can't wait for the next book to see how it all comes together. Violet is not your typical mafia princess as she seems to come off a bit naive but she is still a strong woman. Matteo may be the "boss" but he doesn't like the traditions that have to happen with Violet. His feelings are showing and he tries to keep them under wraps. What will happen between them? This was a page turned from the very first. Loved, loved, loved it!
I'm not really a fan of reverse harem or why choose romance, and wish that it said that before I went to read it. Overall the plot was good but I just couldn't get into it with there being more than one partner, I felt that it was just about sex rather than actual romance, for people who like that sort of thing this is a book for you, but for everyone else.... heres a warning since it didn't offer any in the blurb.
This was my first mafia book from Sapphire and I am in love with her books already. It was a sensual read wrapped up with a family bound by tradition. Violet and Matteo have chemistry that jump off the pages, even if they don't want to admit it at first. It was hot, sexy and all of the men in the book will leave you ready for more. I can't wait to see what comes next!
Lots of steamy scenes. I started reading this and the next thing I knew I was 78% in and it was 4:00 in the morning. When I finished this I refused to start the next one until I have a block of time. First book I’ve read by this author and I obviously will read more. If you enjoy steamy reads this is for you.
Loved it!!! I can't wait for the second one to come out!! This series is going to capture you!! I couldn't put it down!! Violet is my girl!! When you read you will understand why..
