This wonderful, mysterious duo of books from Ikana College in Oklahoma by JD Brick brings to life some hope, some tears, some cheers, and some love. Watching as Blue & Keegan meet for the first time, to finding out more about Keegan's stalker and who is making the threats against her, to watching Blue head to Fort Sill to try and make right something he had done wrong years ago in Afghanistan. I really changed my tune about Keegan's former roommate and seemed-to-be-her-best-friend Megz after seeing Megz involvement in the whole thing and causing Keegan's dreams and hopes to come crashing down. What happens when she turns to her powerful in Politics grandmother for help? You're going to have to read these two books and see what happens, because I fear if I say anything else, I am going to spoil it for you! Just know I thoroughly enjoyed the read!

Roommates to lovers. Stalkers. Fraud. Blackmail.

I guess this book is a duo set. The first part of the book I found to be your average typical roommates to lovers story. I felt as if I had read it a hundred times over. I wanted to possibly stop reading it. I kept reading though and discovered the second part to be way better. A lot more action takes place and the book starts going into more detail. Blue was pretty broken and finally came to terms with his demons. Keegan got on my nerves a bit but dealt with her own issues and resolved them. I am bummed that there wasn't a real epilogue.

Really loved this book it drew me in and didnt throw me out until I finished it, I loved how her relationship with her grandma progressed to really disliking her to loving her. It was also a big intriguing the relationship between Blue and Hunter I thought at one bit that he had something on Blue but of course he didn't until later on.

A good read

It was definitely a page Turner might be a spoiler alert but sometimes I felt they were immature but who knows if you're in that type of situation how you would act and a lot of times things were taken out of context I'm definitely going to read about Buick and I'm definitely going to follow this author

Tangled Up In Blue box set by J.D Brick

4 stars
Reviewed by Amanda Barbee

Tangled Up In Blue box set by J.D Brick is the Ikana College saga. Both books in this set are absolutely amazing! Many times throughout this set I had some heart stopping moments and then some very laughable moments.

Keegan Crenshaw is a girl that has alot of things coming at her at once and her solution is to move out of the dorm into a house just off campus. That's where she meets Blue Danube. She immediately sees the college party boy, but there is something that draws her to him. No matter how hard she fights it.. its there drawing her in.

Blue Danube is a man that has his fair share of secrets. His time in the military is something he refuses to talk about, but Keegan reminds him of Aziza. His application to Ikana was a way for him to move on with what happened in Afghanistan. He never really thought he would meet someone like Keegan, that would make him want to be better than he ever has been.

Keegan and Blue have so much to fight for, and stand to lose so much throughout both of these books. The first ends with Keegan's problem, neither solved nor almost solved, but the heartache these two amazing characters comes into in the second book is absolutely gut wrenching.

Tears, laughter, fear, secrets, these books have it all!! Hats off to J.D Brick for one compelling story of honor, love, trust, and sacrifice!!

4 amazing stars for J.D. Brick's Ikana College Series.

Oh yes! What a fun read during my beach vacation weekend. I love it when I think I know what’s going to happen next, but then I’m wrong! I also love LOVE, and there is an abundance of it in this two part series. I look forward to the next book.

Part 1: Tangled up in Blue Review:
The suspense is killing me!
Okay, well, I know we can all handle a little suspense, right? Keegan, or Kee Kee as her friend Megz calls her, is in trouble from the beginning. Not only does she meet trouble, whose name is Blue, she’s in trouble. She’s being threatened and stalked.

Naturally, that peaked my interest in Keegan’s story and I also wanted to know how her foray into the most raving party house on campus would go. Trouble really is the theme of the storyline and it seems that Keegan becomes more entangled in it as story progresses. The suspense is thick and even though I was able to guess who was behind the threats, it was still a bit shocking to read. It had a sort of grittiness to it. Everyone is out for their own interests and poor Keegan is in the way. It also doesn’t help that her grandmother is the most hated person in Oklahoma.
Romance with Blue is hot!
hot guy guitar

Ah, Blue. A troubled soul, ex military, toting a guitar, hero. Wait, he doesn’t like to be called that. He’s no hero and the reason why would make any girl feel sad. He has his issues to overcome, like Keegan, and their relationship is sparked when he gets involved with her drama. Their dialogue is cute and their love story might carry a bit of a star crossed lovers vibe.

We get first person narration from both Blue’s and Keegan’s point of view. It was a little different because it had been awhile since I read anything in that style. The secondary characters each have their stories and are interesting as well.

Beware: This does end in a cliffhanger.

This is just Book 1 and continues and concludes in Shelter From the Storm.

Part 2: Shelter From the Storm

I think I like book 2 better. Everything comes to a head and it’s more of a page turner.

Every action from book 1 has repercussions and book 2 is where it all plays out.
Poor Blue.
Poor Keegan.
_It's almost like instalove._

Their star crossed love is tested to the max. I almost started cursing at the book because of the cruelty that they are put though. Strength is the key and both Blue and Keegan learn to adapt to the world that is created from the previous book. Boy, did I feel frustrated for them. I was beginning to wonder about their HEA.

It was tough, but they do indeed fulfill their happily ever after.

Suspense filled college romance between two roommates who go through a lot to get a HEA.

This was my first read by J.D. Brick and I am so glad I read this action packed suspenseful romance as a box set because the cliffhanger ending of the first part was so heartbreaking I needed to know instantly how things would work out. Set in a college environment, this book was so much more than a typical college romance, incorporating various things from stalkers to a solider with survivor’s guilt and plenty of secondary characters who you end up realising shouldn’t be taken at face value.

Blue and Keegan have an instant attraction to each other from the moment they meet and, from the dual points of views we get, it quickly becomes clear just how deep their feelings for each other are. Yes, you do have to be open to insta-attraction/love but to be honest, the way in which the author writes everything, you don’t necessarily feel it is too quick for these two characters. While the book mainly takes place at a college, Blue is a couple of years older than Keegan, having been a solider in Afghanistan previously. Blue and Keegan were passionate, strong, mature and definitely had real flaws and all the trials and tribulations that they faced showcased their personal resolute strength and various sides to their personalities, as well as solidifying their growing relationship (with plenty of steamy scenes thrown in too!). Throughout the two books, both characters clearly evolve and go through a range of emotion from happiness to heartbreakingly painful emotions. Secondary characters in this book played a huge part and as I’ve already said, from the beginning you are almost second guessing who is genuine and who is not.

This boxset is steadily paced and well written with a great flow. The first book, Tangled Up in Blue, sets the plot brilliantly and the second book, Sheltered From the Storm, expanded on the first book and the consequences without things feeling unnecessarily dragged out. There are plenty of surprising moments to make the book unpredictable and suspenseful right up to the very end and not every outcome will necessarily be a happy one always, adding a sense of realism to the story. The ending, something I personally loved, gave a HEA and tied up the story nicely for Blue and Keegan and allows this box set to be read as a standalone with all parts included.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this suspenseful romance and would definitely recommend you give it a read.

J.D. was a new author to me but this book has me intrigued as to what else this author can do. The book itself is a two part book which makes for a longer read but definitely keeps you reading to see what happens. It's suspenseful, a "Romeo and Juliet" of the times book.

Keegan is a college student but also the chief editor of the college's newspaper at only a sophomore. She lost her mother when she was younger to cancer and her dad was unable to keep a job. She became pretty self reliant but her grandmother was from a well off family and always came to save Keegan and her younger brother Buick. Keegan is currently being stalked and the stalker is getting more and more aggressive with the threats and things that are happening. She is determined to hide in hopes that the stalker leaves her alone.

Blue was in the military but now goes to Ikana College for the music program. His father too was taken from him because of a plane crash. He has a genuine love for music and completely looks up one of the music professors there. Blue is holding onto so much from his time in the military that it's screwing with him, most people would call it survivors guilt. He never told anyone what happened over there and it lands him in hot water.

Keegan first meets Blue when she is moving into a new place quickly because her stalker knows where she lives. At first, she is hesitant because of everything that's happening in her life. But once they get to know one another, they can not be separated. Blue feels the need to protect Keegan. And Keegan feels that she has to "fix" Blue. When the stalker gets details from Keegan's ex roommate about what Blue had done in Afghanistan, he confronts her. At the risk of exposing Blue, he tells her to resign her job as editor and leave college immediately. So she does and goes to tell Blue. Blue won't let her give her life away for him and he turns himself into the military police because he was AWOL. He is then court martialed.

Is Blue going to be sentenced for something he thought at the time was the right thing to do? Will Keegan be able to help Blue? Can Keegan and Blue survive everything that is falling down around them?

This book was a great read. The next one is about Buick and what he experiences. I can't wait to read it. Hopefully there will be more of Keegan and Blue in it.

New to me Author that has definitely earned a spot on my bookshelf!
Ms. Brick knows how to write a book, or few! ;) This is a two-book box set, if you read them separately, book one does end in a cliffhanger, but you can jump right into book two. Which has even more action to keep the pages turning! This story is full of breath-taking suspense with amazing chemistry between the characters! The rapport had me laughing at times, but it wasn't always so light! This series holds plenty of heat, both of the passionate kind and the intensity of the suspense throughout.. I read this set as one book. I just didn't want to take a break until I read it all and knew what was going to happen. Would these seemingly jinxed lovers get to have their happy ever after, what with all that is thrown at them? Read and find out!

This set includes Tangled in Blue (book 1) and Shelter From The Storm (book 2). I can’t wait for book 3 of this series! This is the first time I’ve read this author and it definitely won’t be the last. Her writing style was good, nice flow and attention to detail. I also had a good connection to the characters. I like that she gives you little pieces…just enough to hook you then backs off or switches gears but, then a little hint…..your pulled back in just when you’re needing more. It's a slow and steady pace until all of a sudden it's not and everything is snowballing. That anticipation is great!
The storyline… I loved the whole thing, ugh!!! Blue is a troubled ex-soldier, college student and talented musician. He's haunted by a big secret, something that happened during his tour in Afghanistan, one that looks bad for him. Once his story is out I still only see good in him. I'm getting teary just thinking about it. Keegan is a college student and editor of the campus paper, she finds herself in a situation that she's trying to ignore but she can't run from it. It won't just go away. They both bring a lot of baggage to this new relationship as room-mates and find they are instantly attracted to each other. Soon their secrets collide and intermix. Secrets shared, innocent mistakes, guilt, hurt…..They suddenly find they are in the middle of an inescapable nightmare, a real s#*tstorm!
I was instantly attracted to Blue. He's a hottie, so sweet and only wants the best for her. Keegan is naïve, innocent, scared. She’s also strong, so supportive and refuses to give up on him or let him give up on them.
This isn’t a cliffhanger but has left me wanting more. J.D. Brick I need: You Belong To Me (Book 3), Please.

When I first read the synopsis of this story I immediately wanted to know more ,so the minute I got the chance to dive into this story I did and I loved it . I could not put down this book! the Tangled Up In Blue box set is not short read , however this story was just downright addictive and I finished this book within a day, this story was amazing.

In this book we follow Keegan and Blue and I just loved these two together. They definitely meet under interesting circumstances and come off as complete opposite, but as you get deeper into the story you see that they are just absolutely perfect for each other. I felt like they helped bring out the best in each other and became safe places for each other. The romance in this book was sexy , fun , heartwarming and swoon worthy. This book definitely kept me on my toes , with everything happening with Keegan being terrorized by an anonymous person and Blue's secrets I was completely wrapped up in this story. I think this book made me feel every emotion I could possibly think of. Keegan and Blue's story was one that was filled with love , happiness , sorrow , anger , deceit and passion and I loved every single moment of It .

The Tangled Up In Blue Box set was an amazing read .Keegan and Blue's story was absolutely perfect and I am just eager to get my hands on J.D Bricks next book .If you love all these things in your books I suggest you get a copy.

DISCLAIMER: I received a complimentary copy of "Tangled Up in Blue Box Set" by JD Brick in exchange for an honest review.

It was a pleasure to read Tangled Up in Blue by JD Brick. This is the first book in the box set, and let me tell you, tangle up it was! This was a very fast read for me and I didn't want to put it down!

The characters, Blue and Keegan, are star crossed lovers from their first meeting and, true to form, life gets in their way! They are both very well developed characters and Ms. Brick surrounded them with a fantastic supporting cast of friends and foes. The problem is, it is difficult to tell who the friends really are!

It was a pleasure to read Shelter From the Storm by JD Brick. This is the second book in the box set. The storms rage violently as Blue and Keegan try to maneuver through the onslaught from his confession.

The story was harder for me to stay with as it wasn't filled with the suspense of the first book. I'm also not certain about the veracity of the military proceedings. This left me scratching my head in question more often than simply enjoying the book.

I am pleased to offer "Tangled Up in Blue Box Set" by JD Brick four steaming hot cups of Reviews by Room With Books coffee.

What an amazing book! This was my first book by this author and I have to say hook, line and sinker! I couldn't put it down. One moment i was swooning and the next super mad and yelling at the characters. In the first book we meet keegan and blue. Keegan is a very straight laced journalist. She has a stalker that is getting a little too bold; in comes blue. Blue is her new roommate. From the very beginning the sparks flew but neither wanted to cross that line. Slowly they go from friends to the blurry lines of something more. It ends of in a major cliff but luckily this is the boxed set. In book two there were so many feels! You truly get to know blue for more than just the party college boy. You get to see what secrets each is hiding and if it will tear them apart. Book 3 wow so this is the climax. It threw me for a loop . I didn't see that coming. Loved the ending. There aren't many stories that have you barely hanging on to your sanity. Well this is certainly one. I don't do spoilers and I won't bore you with summarizing what you already read in description. There are a lot of twists and turns but overall great read

Great story, tears jerky, but really good

When I started reading this book I only had the first book not thinking it was going to be a cliffhanger. Normally I hate those, but with this one couldn't wait to get the other one. Now can't wait for the next installment. Keegan and Blue story is unique in its telling. I kept wishing for another ending where all the bad guys in up in prison but we are missing out on one of them. I know not all criminal gets caught but can help but hope he has his time coming.

What a tangled web

At first I thought this was a story for young adults. True, it is a college boy meets girl story in the beginning. As the lives of the characters intertwine, unfold and get really tangled up with intrigue it's impossible to quit reading. I only want to read about happy endings and couldn't tell how this story would end. Still I couldn't wait to find out. This is such a well written book. The author gets so in depth into each character you either like them or hate them intensely.

Love this set right here! It's hot! Even being out of my normal reading area, I can say that there are times I come across or get asked to review books that I don't see how I could pass by from just searching such as these! The plot of the story is amazing and well written with lovable characters.... even sexy at that! If you haven't read these two yet you really should!

Wow.. this was hott and sexy. I loved the air of mystery, the hottness of the men and women and the chemistry was off the charts. I love when an author can make you feel the sizzle of the chemistry through the words and pages of a story and JD Brick did just that. I felt the emotions.. If you enjoy a good romantic mystery with a lot of funny thrown into it, this is your story.
