Transform your life with daily inspiration, affirmations, and meditations from A Year of Positive Thinking.
Yes, you can change your life by changing your thoughts. In A Year of Positive Thinking, you’ll transform your mindset and motivate positive life changes one thought, one day, and one year at a time.
From day one, this book teaches you the power of positive thinking through quick and digestible affirmations based in positive psychology, neuroscience, and personal development. Spanning one full year, from January to December, these daily meditations guide you towards visualizing and living your best life.
A Year of Positive Thinking
365 days of positive thinking with exercises, mantras, and reflections for self-respect, kindness, and love.A flexible structure around the calendar year (January-December) that can be started any time, any day, and any moment that you’re ready. Inspiration for personal development that draws on positive psychology, neuroscience, and other secular schools of thought for motivating positive thinking. Choose to see the good over the bad. Choose optimism over pessimism. Choose positive over negative thinking with A Year of Positive Thinking.
Often positive thinking is used as a way to gloss over the hard truths and instead focus on feeling good. But, this is NOT that kind of positive thinking. This is positive thinking rooted in reality (with all its complexity). This is positive thinking that’s about literally changing how you interact with the world, not because doing so will suddenly make everything ok, but because doing so will make you more equipped to thrive in this world.
As Cyndie writes, “The ability to see light within the darkness creates a world of wide-open, heart-bursting possibilities.”
Bite- sized bits to help you build the ability to see light. It’s exactly what we all need.
I totally love this book! Each day it has a short message but a really powerful and uplifting one. I don't always have time to read but this one only takes a few minutes a day. Definitely recommend it, would also make a great gift.
There is 0 substantial content outside of a few quotes. Not a book, more a collection of random shallow motivational sentences.
I wish I had checked deeper than the 4.2 average rating displayed on Goodreads, I guess I learned my lesson.
“When it comes to how you feel, you are always right. Do not question whether what you feel is acceptable or unacceptable. Whatever your feelings are, you are entitled to have them. Your feelings can be a window to your highest self - listen to them and honor them.” - Cyndie Spiegel (Or Donald Trump ?)

This is a beautiful book with an inspirational quote, exercise, story, mantra or affirmation for every day of the year. Definitely a must read if you want some positivity in your life
I attended a talk by Cyndie Spiegel this summer and her wisdom sparked a huge change in my life. This book is taking all of her no-nonsense, thought provoking, and relatable ability to drop a bomb on people and boiling it down into little daily quips, quotes, and stories. If you need a reliable way to kick-start your day, this book is for you. I have personally been reading a month each night to get me in a positive headspace before bed. But, besides that, I find myself wanting to send her words to so many people in my life every moment. I already bought two copies and I am excited to start using it for intention setting in the yoga classes I teach! I think everyone can benefit from reading this book.
A self help book for those with short attention spans, or those who just want to start small. Gorgeously printed, A Year of Positive Thinking is small, cute, and bursting with inspiration. Each day has a small story, quote, exercise, mantra, or affirmation; ranging from as short as a sentence up to a paragraph. The bright colors make this book cheerful, an easy way to add some pop to your nightstand. This book will make a great gift for anyone looking to start out the new year right. It's not labelled exclusively for 2019, it's generic so that it can be used time and again, or passed along after a year of positive thinking. Great for gifting, even better for keeping :)
This book is a wonderful asset to anyone wanting a simple way to add affirmations and inspiration to their daily routine. The book is laid out as a message a day to make it super easy to know where you are. I think this little book would be a great nightstand book which could be read in the morning or before you go to sleep. I received a free review copy from the publisher. All opinions are my own.
A good pick me up, especially on the days you are rather pessimistic or feeling defeated! May be repetitive or preachy for some but it’s nice to have small reminders of joy, gratitude, and self-love!
I am seriously in love with the true to life inspiration in this book I highflying recommend if you need to find a way to add some sunshine to your year
This book is full of gems that help keep me grounded. I share them daily on my WhatsApp status and have gotten lots of positive feedback from friends and family. I am always happy to share the book information so others can share in the positive vibes.
Author, Cyndie Spiegel, has penned one of the most positive, uplifting and inspirational, 365-day primer I have seen in a while. Her premise is that we can change our life by simply changing our thoughts.
With a plethora of reflections for facing everyday challenges, drawing from a wide variety of resources such as psychology, neuroscience and personal development, Spiegel seeks to motivate positive thinking for positive change. I think she has accomplished this goal nicely.
Each day's passage is brief, simple but barbed with practical wisdom for living a more resilient life in our fast-paced, stressful world we live in today. The author wastes no words in presenting what anyone can use as food for thought daily in her well-thought-out passages.
Though this book is not religious per se, it is richly laced with personal spirituality from cover to cover. The topics it covers all embrace grace and abundance regardless of the obstacles each of us face in our journeys. Obviously, the author well realizes we all need that 'extra-lift' of courage and encouragement in the struggles we face as humans in a broken world.
The book is most visually appealing as it creatively utilizes colorful pages throughout its development. Also, scattered throughout its pages are various exercises one can do in order to better connect with that days topic.
All in all, I personally found this book stimulating, most positive, and chock-full of relevant inspirational truths most anyone would find productive and profitable. I highly recommend this one-a-day, vitamin-primer for daily motivational and ultimate holistic transformation.
This book was furnished for me by Callisto Publishers for my objective, non-biased review.
"A Year of Positive Thinking: Daily Inspiration, Wisdom, and Courage," by Cyndie Spiegel, is my first introduction to Ms. Spiegel's writing.
My copy is a softcover with 260 pages, including end pages.
I especially enjoyed the variety of the entries. For example, January 1 is captioned "Right Where You Should Be," whereas January 2 talks about "Kintsukuroi,"which means "to repair with gold," the practice of repairing ceramic pieces with liquid gold or gold-dusted lacquer.
February 13 features a quote from Will Rogers, and February 15 has "A Ritual for Love."
There are reflections, mantras, quotes and so much more for every day of the year, excluding February 29, so a leap year, such as 2024, you can reread a favorite passage previously read, or read one that does not necessarily correspond to the current date.
I do my best to to read at least one of these kinds of books every year, one with wisdom for each calendar date.
This was a good one and a a very enlightening one, too.
This is a book of little tidbits to read everyday to inspire you to live a better, more positive life. Mostly it's little bits of her advice/wisdom/inspiration, but there are also quotes, exercises and mantras mixed in. It's also super colorful in a very pleasing way. I'm a little dubious about the concept of positive thinking as a cure-all, but I'd heard Cyndie speak live (she's amazing in person) and was hopeful that this would have less of the stuff I find hard to stomach about it, because Cyndie absolutely includes an awareness of societal influences and social justice in her keynotes. However, this book didn't really include any of that (nor her signature swearing, I think there were two censored "sh*t"s, which struck me as weird). I still like her message, but I wish there'd been a bit more of her personality in it.
I read this book to my social media audience daily. Such a great reminder to take a moment and prepare for what is coming your way with a positive thought. My favorite quote was from September 12.
"The Power of Self-Talk The most important conversations you will ever have are the ones you have internally. What you say to yourself becomes your truth. Praise yourself often and share your success with others. Speak about yourself with patience, forgiveness, and love. Humility and pride are not at odds with each other; you can be humble and still be proud of your accomplishments. What you say to yourself inwardly affects the way you experience life outwardly. Be kind with your words to yourself, because they are incredibly powerful. "
Worst book I ever.. well, tried to read.. I gave up at some point.. It is dangerous because there are lots of things that are not true so basically had a putting down effect, limiting, instead of an empowering one that self-love can have, if done properly. It is 50% incorrect, 1% repetition of cliches, 49% meaningless fillers, and oh so badly written.. Could be reduced to one sentence.. Terrible. Like it was written by a sloppy disinterested 9 year old girl with an assigment to fill X pages with text about self-love, for money, without ever before reading a book on the subject, thinking of the subject, or reading any other book...
It’s December 31 and I finally get to wrap this for the year! There were definitely nuggets of wisdom that I took away from this little book, but with 365 days in a year and only so many ways you can tell someone to focus on the positives, a lot of the entries, especially towards the end, consisted of very repetitive banalisms. I found myself starting to skip entries that were lengthy yet sounded just like other entries I’d already read. There were also quite a lot of suggestions to “write lists” of things that make me XYZ, for example. The format of this book reminded me more one of those calendar books than a self-help workbook, so I never felt compelled to follow any of those exercises.
Don't we all need a year of positive thinking? I picked this up while doing research for a project featuring amazing women. I was expecting a book with a narrative, so when I got this little book of quotes and affirmations for every day of the year, I was a little disappointed. On closer examination, I shouldn't have been. So many sites and Insta feeds offer a daily affirmation. This takes it a step further with a little discussion about why, rather than just a bold statement. Thought-provoking. The message for March 11? Choose Happy. What do we have to lose?
A Year of Positive Thinking is set up by days of the year with an inspirational or wise quote for each day. The pages are brightly colored in yellow, orange, blue, and teal. Each quote takes less than a minute to read. This is a book you'll want to keep by your bed and read before your feet hit the floor to give you a positive boost.
I receive this book for free in exchange for an honest review.
Anybody that has ever doubted themselves, even for a second, should read this book. It reminds you to be comfortable in your own skin, be who you are without shame and remain true to yourself. I was going to read the daily passage every day this year but I couldn’t wait. This will be staying by my bedside for years to come to remind me of how lucky I am to be me and have the life I live. Everyone needs to be reminded of that sometimes.
The book is comprised of 365 positives self notes (one for each day of the year). I know a self-help book might be cliché for some, but I guarantee it will be immensely helpful when read at the right time. I bought this book several years ago and couldn't even get to just 1/3 of it. Yet now, when I pick it up again and give it another try, I find its content beautiful. Simply the right messages at the right time of my life.
This was a great read for that reminder to let yourself know that you are the creator of the life you want to live. You have the power to live the life you want. This book is a great read to remind yourself of exactly that! The way everything is worded makes you view life a different way. This book made my fingers tingle and spoke right to my soul!
Amazing book! Not one of your average book full of quotes from famous people throughout, but it is full on inspirational and impactful affirmations, quotes, statements, and even short stories to help you live a more positive lifestyle, and everyday is a new message that will touch your heart. Beautifully written. I have already restarted it for the new year and hope to use it forever.
I read this book every year. It is a great way to start my day with a little positive thinking and inspiration. this year I downloaded the audio book to listen to a wee bit of positive thinking each morning to start my workout.
I love this book and it is one I enjoy reading every year over and over each day.
I have thought back to this a few times, as my goal for reading was to actually internalize and use strategies to live more positively, so in that way I feel like it has been useful. There was a lot of overlap in entries, though, and it felt repetitive although it was undoubtedly to cement important ideas. Overall it was beneficial and it was good to have some task to help with discipline.
