There are no surprises in the plot here. It is a YA book about a disabled teenager who gets super-powers and uses them to fight the bad guys. What makes it stand out from the crowd is that the teenage narrator thinks and feels like a real teenager. This is very difficult to pull off, and the author pulls it off brilliantly. I have read so many books about kids wise beyond their years: this book reminded me of what it felt like to not be nearly as smart as I thought I was. Kudos to the author, and looking forward to the sequel!
