Dr. Norman Vincent Peale (1898–1993) was a minister and author (most notably of The Power of Positive Thinking) and a progenitor of the theory of "positive thinking".

Peale was born in Bowersville, Ohio. He graduated from Bellefontaine High School, Bellefontaine, Ohio. He has earned degrees at Ohio Wesleyan University (where he became a brother of the Fraternity of Phi Gamma Delta) and Boston University School of Theology.

Raised as a Methodist and ordained as a Methodist minister in 1922, Peale changed his religious affiliation to the Reformed Church in America in 1932 and began a 52-year tenure as pastor of Marble Collegiate Church in Manhattan. During that time the church's membership grew from 600 to over 5000, and he became one of New York City's most famous preachers.

The effect of this book to me is just like on The Power of Positive Thinking. Peale has this ability to lift my spirits high and make me believe that I can as the world says I can't. These six attitudes is what you need to be successful and I will keep all these in mind to bring out the best in me. Thank you Norman Vincent Peale!

The six attitudes are:

1) Positive. When one looks at the bright side of the shittiest situations, everything is placed into perspective.

2) Courageous. "Do the thing you fear, and the death of fear is certain."

3) Enthusiastic.

4) Peaceful. Rational action can only be done in the face of calm.

5) Confident. Faith in oneself is important if one is to be productive.

6) Expectant. Tomorrow will come, and that will allow me to do better.

It was a struggle to complete reading this short book because of how bad it really is. The author has laid out 6 attitudes which are not mutually exclusive (eg: a positive person will be confident and expectant) - Positive, Courageous, Enthusiastic, Peaceful, Confident and Expectant, and that's my first gripe with the book.

The content within each chapter is common sensical, lacking substance and laden with solutions that involve praying to Christ. It's impractical and orthodox, set in olden times when people looked up for solutions rather than looking down at their own hands and doing work.

Getting through the last chapter is a struggle in itself where the author has laid out 10 common actions for 11 problems one might face (eg: Failure, Sorrow, Worry etc). These actions begin with a verb (eg: Force, Do, Counsel etc.) and continue with an explanation that doesn't really make sense.

An utter waste of time.

One of the master piece of Mr. Norman. Can be given 4.5 Stars

Perfect examples tells us how our attitudes towards problem will make changes. Author is Guru of dealing with Inferiority.

"Attitudes are more important than facts"

"Every Problem contains the SEEDs of its own SOLUTIONS" - Stanley Arnold.

"A Problem is one of God's greatest methods for teaching you, for helping you to develop"

"Never take counsel of your fears" - Stonewall Jackson

To put in simply "If you have a powerful faith (positive) thoughts, then positiveness will be replaced in the place of fear.

"Fear is never a reason for Quitting: It is only an excuse."

This short guide written by Normal Vincent Peale is a must-have and reminds us that God is our center in everything we do. If we let go and let God, he will take care of the rest.
.
To have success in life, it’s how you let love start within yourself and be able to love others. We need to be enthusiastic in everything we do and let God be present in our lives because, without him, we can never know what success and happiness truly mean.
.
My takeaway from this book, always have faith in everything you do with God in your heart because if he is present you will never be lost, troubled, unhappy, or unsatisfied with your life. Always have faith in Him.

Short stories, Q&A, Famous personalities quotes, and above all Bible quotes made this book a readable. Readers at time might think it as a sunday service.
If you want to feel the real taste of this book, pick one topic and practice.
Read the entire book but pick one topic. Unless you pick one, you can sense a dryness in this book.
